If I could give half points, this would probably be more of a 3.5/5 than a true 4. I went here on a Saturday evening and let me tell you - you NEED a reservation. We arrived at 6:20 and were told the wait would be between an hour to an hour and a half, so we walked around Brookline Village a bit. They said that they would text us when the table was ready, so we ducked into a cafe for some bubble tea and waited. The minutes passed and by and soon it was 7:50 - exactly an hour and a half from our original checkin time. We wandered back over to Blossom Bar and then were told it may be another half hour before we were seated, so we stood in the corner inside to wait the rest of the time. After about 40 minutes, we were seated at a table with a nice big bottle of water. We had already checked out the menu during our 2 hour wait, so we were ready to go, but no one came to our table for about 10 minutes, so we flagged down one of the staff. Once we did that, she sent someone over to our table and the service was great, but it did take some time to get rolling. I do realize that it was our fault for not having a reservation, so I'm not docking too many points, but when you total it up, it took about 2 hours and 20 minutes from when we talked to the front desk until we had someone taking out order. DEFINITELY make reservations. As soon as we had someone assigned to our table, however, our waiter was incredible. The food was pretty spicy so we went through a LOT of water, but he was really attentive and always stopped by to bring us more jugs of water and top us off at the same time. We went through just over 4 bottles of water, so he was definitely working overtime there. Like I said, the food is SPICY, so be prepared. We ordered: Dan Dan Noodles ($10.50) - This was SO FLAVORFUL but also quite spicy. It came out first because it was an appetizer, and we divided it up between the four of us. That being said, it probably could have been one person's main course if they ate the whole thing themselves. It didn't look so spicy at first glance, but the sauce on the bottom of this dish was very hot. It was one of those spicy dishes that has a lot of great flavor, however, and it was incredibly delicious - it had noodles, pork, and spinach in it. Pea Pod Stems ($18.50) - This was the only non spicy dish we had, and it was nice to have a refreshing vegetable between bites of spicy food. I love this dish from any restaurant, but this version had a nice garlic taste sauteed in oil. It wasn't oily exactly, but it did have a little more oil than I would have liked. Chong Qing Dry Hot Chicken ($22.95) - This was the BEST dish but also the SPICIEST. These little pieces of fried chicken were so tasty and salty - almost like a salt and pepper seasoning (if you've ever had salt and pepper pork or salt and pepper seafood from a Chinese restaurant) with fried salt and white pepper. The twist here was there were chili peppers and sichuan peppercorns mixed in with the chicken, making it almost unbearingly hot. I was drenched in sweat eating this dish, but it was worth it. Ma Paul Tofu ($18.95) - Yes, that's how it's spelled on the menu. And it's strange that the bright red dish with the bright red sauce was probably the least spicy of the spicy dishes. Instead of spice, this dish had a lot of garlic flavor, which was something I loved. It was nice to eat a piece of tofu which pork that had some spiciness, but didn't put me into a sweating frenzy. Large Rice ($3.50) - This was rice. It was enough for 4 people, but if you eat a lot of rice, you may want a second bowl. All in all, this is not your typical cheap Chinese restaurant. In fact, the dishes were quite expensive, but they were very good. Some advice I'd give to people giving this a shot is to MAKE A RESERVATION and BE PREPARED FOR SPICE. If you do that, this will be a great time. I also need to add that I didn't order a drink, but their drink menu was extensive and had some really interesting combinations. Judging by the menu and the other reviews, it may be worth getting a drink if you were to come here. I was just sweating so much from the spicy food that it would have gone to waste. I'd probably give this a 3.5/5 if I could give half points. The taste was great, but the wait was tough and longer than originally quoted. Came here for a dinner on a Saturday night and the restaurant filled up super fast as soon as their doors opened, so a reservation will definitely be necessary. My favorite dish was the cucumber since they actually had a good ma-la spice kick to them, with some peanut sauce. What a VIBE! This was such a cute find in Brookline. We went around 7:30 pm on a Thursday with a group of 4 and the wait was 45 minutes -- so make a reservation if you know you'll be heading here! There is a bar area where we were able to go ahead and order our drinks while we waited to be seated. We tried 4 of their cocktails and they were all amazing, and the prices were standard for the Boston area. The one I would probably recommend the most is the Pulque, it was so refreshing, not too sweet, and of course super cute. On a second visit, this was more of a 3- or 2-star experience. Drinks: More than 3/4 of the glass was filled with ice, very little drink to speak of. The towering mound of ice chips and garnishes look cool enough until you actually try to take a sip of it and all the itty-bitty chips go flying down your front. A gimmick for a fun photo, nothing more. Food: SO salty and oily and spicy, I couldn't eat much of it. There is much, much better Szechuan food to be had. Every bite was laden with salt and not actual flavor. There were two knobs for almost every dish we got - salty and spicy (though I do give Blossom Bar some credit for adding a little bit of numbing to the flavor profile). If I ever came back, I would ask for less spice. Even the Chinese broccoli was absolutely coated with oil. The fried dishes (beef ribs, fish fillets) were borderline inedible, too much fried batter, no flavor of the underlying meat coming through. Atmosphere was extremely loud, even on a Monday night. With the hot and numbing spiciness of this dish, the crispy and crunchy texture of the chicken was something we eagerly and quickly ate. I usually do not like eggplants (only fried eggplants) due to the texture, but this was also a winner at the restaurant. The sauce was too good not to consume, and the eggplants were a great vegetable to douse in the sauce. The duck was decently juicy, but was a tad bit dry for my taste. The vegetable dish was also good, but nothing that stood out to me - definitely a great palette cleanser to balance the meats at our table. This place is usually known for their drinks, and I want to say the award winning Gloria cocktail was only okay for me. There was a hint of creaminess in the drink, and I think it didn't sit with my stomach well as I am sensitive to creamy / milky drinks. My friends and I taste tested all of the drinks, and my favorite was actually the Angie Valencia - could barely taste the alcohol and would definitely have drunken that like juice (some would say that type of dish is dangerous). Parking is relatively easy, lots of metered parking nearby. In Brookline, after 8PM and on Sundays, parking is free! You can also take the T (Green, D-line) and get off at the Brookline Village stop. The vibes at Blossom Bar are cool, sexy date night vibes. The lights are dim, the music is up-to-date and the drinks are really yummy! In terms of food, there is a little of everything - from sweet to spicy. Can confirm - Dan Dan noodles have a kick to them! The teriyaki steak skewers are a must-get. I've been dying to try Sichuan Garden & Blossom Bar forever, and was glad to see that it delivered, particularly as a fun cocktail experience. Some things to know before you go: - This is your basic (somewhat authentic) sichuan restaurant + fancy, fun cocktails. Could be a weird combo, but it works. - This place can be HOPPING on a Friday night (and I anticipate other weekend nights) so make a reservation, anticipate a loud-er, crowded restaurant, and a line for the bathroom if you need to use it. - Street parking is a bit tough around here, but there is a paid lot a couple of blocks away. I love craft cocktail bars, and having spent many years in Boston, have always heard legend of the cocktails at their sister restaurant, Baldwin Bar, and so was excited to try the cocktails here. Blossom Bar trends towards fun, tiki or tropical style drinks, leaning more heavily on rum and agave spirits. Our waitress was super knowledgeable and my friend and I genuinely loved each of the four drinks we ordered together. Her personal favorite was the Tito Puente, spirit-forward tropical play on a Manhattan. I loved the Bocadillo Sour, an incredibly well balanced and light mojito-style drink. The drinks were on the sweeter style (maybe because of what we ordered) than my typical taste for a cocktail, but everything was well balanced. My one tiny gripe was I love sitting at the bar in a fancy cocktail bar and getting to leisurely chat with the bartender about the drinks, and this place was too happening on a Friday night for that to be possible -- perhaps on an early weekday that could be a vibe here. Onto the food: Good, not great, and your best bets are with the semi-authentic dishes, ordered for sharing. We got 3 entrees between two adults and felt stuffed by the end of the meal with plenty of leftovers to take home. The easy standout to us (that we ended up recommending to tables around us) was the spicy chicken with garlic sauce; I'll think about that dish for days. The house fried rice was a perfect pairing for it, as they don't use soy sauce in it (like they do on the regular fried rice on the menu), which made it balance well with saltier dishes. The crispy fish filets, which is a restaurant special and their take on salt & pepper fish, was a little too salty for our taste but still tasty. Service is great here. Our waitress was attentive and helpful in guiding us through the menu, even on a crazy busy night. All in all, just a fun vibe, really good drinks, and a few tasty bites, if you order right. Finally got to try this new(ish) trendy, modern Chinese restaurant in Brookline, Boston! They offer both traditional and Americanized Chinese dishes, with a stocked bar and crafty cocktails. We ordered a lot of food, so keep up! We got Dan dan noodles, Chengu dry chicken wings, crab rangoons, Prosperity noodles, double-cooked pork, plum extract pork, fried rices, chicken fingers, and drinks! My favorite was by far the Chengu dry rub wings. I was extremely impressed by the crispy, spiced outside and the incredibly juicy inside! It was a great level of spicy and the rub was so unique 8.5/10 The two pork dishes were decent. The plum on the plum pork was sweet and tender 7.5/10. The double cooked pork was way too fatty for me and the veggie to meat ratio was off 7/10. Dan dan noodles were also fire- the texture was chewy and bouncy and the sauce wasn't too salty but nothing crazy 7.5/10. Prosperity noodles were supposed to have sichuan flavor, which it did, but the awkward sweetness of the dish made it imbalanced 6/10. Unfortunately, the rangoons and chicken fingers were mid. Rangoons weren't terrible but wouldn't place it in my top 5.5/10. The chicken fingers were... not good. The entire thing was overall so bland, the meat was tough, and the coating didn't stick well. seemed like they put it together last minute 3/10. Overall, the food is decent, but not if you're used to truly authentic Chinese food. it's definitely more Americanized than other places. However, I would go back just for the Chengu dry rub wings. Yet another super cute place with meh food. Don't get me wrong, the drinks were absolutely delicious. Blossom bar is on top of the best cocktails or best date list. My friend and I didn't have reservations but thought we should try our luck. Upon arrival, there were seats available on the patio but a long wait time for indoor dining. The staff was nice enough they let us start outside while we waited for our seats inside. Outside the patio was heated on this chilly night. The ambiance at Blossom Bar is a bit dark and kind of feels a little lackluster. I wish the lighting was better/warmer. It also got a bit loud when I was there. Please be careful eating here if you or your loved ones have allergies. They put peanuts on a ton of the food, but don't indicate it on the menu. We were asked about allergies, but I don't eat nuts because my partner is allergic. I wish they would have listed them as an ingredient since they are such a major allergen. I love Blossom Bar! The bar is tropical but they mostly have Chinese food. Some dishes are actually quite authentic. If you go to Blossom Bar, you MUST try Duan's/dole whip. It's sooooo good. The drink are VERY pretty. However, the portion size is very small, as well as for all other cocktails/drinks. Another downside is that they put a CRAP ton of ice in cocktails. Most of their food is spicy and it's quite hard to request less spice or no spice at all. I asked our server if she could put the spicy sauce on the side as she mentioned she could tell the kitchen staff to reduce the amount of spicy sauce. She gave me a disgusted face as a response. Cocktails are definitely the highlight of the bar. I came here and I ordered a nino puente ($14) and Celia Cruz ($13). Drinks were next level. Came on a Thursday evening with a 7pm reservation and the place was pretty much packed, save for some two-person tables. Definitely a lively option for friends and large groups, as the dishes are meant to be shared family-style. I would highly recommend making a reservation, otherwise there are bar seats available. We ordered the Duan Whip and Pulque for drinks, and the Prosperity Noodles with Chicken, Dan Dan Noodles, Pork Dumplings, and String Beans. The dishes all came out around the same time, which we were pleasantly surprised by. I would honestly get each dish again, especially the Dumplings and Prosperity Noodles. The beans were a good balance for the rest of our meal. The Duan Whip was a treat, and perfect for lightweights like me who can mostly enjoy the dole whip. Would definitely come back and try out more of the menu! Great cocktails and food! Love the decor inside. My bf was noticing that it was very evocative of Latin America. The Frida artwork is beautiful, and there's also a cool painting of a woman calavera. Stand out dishes were the Dan Dan noodles (a must order), and the the string beans. Our favorite drink was the cocktail with dole whip-which we actually had for dessert. The pineapple dole whip was so delicious and went really well with the icy cocktail it was in. A perfect palate cleanser after enjoying a meal with tingly spiciness. read more

Excellent food. Soups are all good, dan dan noodles excellent, spicy cucumbers very well done, really can't go wrong here.

The place by itself is nice. They have a great variety of drinks. They look cool. That way the main reason why my friends and I decided to go there. We had a table outside, our waiter was kinda all over the place, and we had to wait for him. He was nice but he did not pay a lot of attention to our table. The cocktails were great! They looked great and tasted amazing. I tried Angie Valencia and Duan's Whip. The food was another way around. It was not good. My friends and I ordered Crab Rangoon to share. And I ordered Lo Mein for myself. Crab Rangoon was okay but the sauce that was served with it was weird. It was awful. I do not want to sound rude but Lo Mein that I ordered was tasteless. Lo Mein from other places tastes better. My friends did not like their food either. The conclusion this place is great for its cocktails but for the food I do not recommend it. read more
