During a consultation for landscaping in our front yard, one of the contractors advised that we replace our main line because our plumbing was ready to fail. The whole house was still original 1955 galvanized steel, so we knew re-piping was something we'd need to consider at some point. We were referred to Mark Brewer, at Blossom Valley Plumbing. Mark was quick to reply when engaged and immediately sent Doug to the house to evaluate our needs. Doug is tremendously good natured and helpful. He walked through the house and checked the crawl space out. Ultimately, we decided to tackle the main line AND the pipes under the house at the same time. It seemed like a big project... but Mark estimated that his guys would be in and out in a single day. The day of the project, Doug, George, and their crew were very prompt and polite. My wife showed them their access points and, from there, they went to work. The crew in the front yard had our main line dug up, replaced, and working in less than 8-hours. The backyard crew, going under the house to replace the pipes, were equally prompt and helpful. When something didn't work as intended, they'd take it apart and start over. George took apart our bathroom faucet 3 different times to improve the water pressure, at no additional cost. They even offered to put in a new hose valve in our side yard, since they saw we had a garden over there. It wasn't very expensive and it helps me water without having to drag an extra large hose from the backyard to the side yard. Honest fast repairs. George was great, fixed a leak in a pvc pipe in about an hour and was nice, polite, and very deferential to my mom. He explained everything he was going to do before he did it, was clear and not condescending. We called because of a leak in the base of out toilet. A puzzle because the water was clean, and that isn't where the clean water usually leaks from. Not a problem for a pro. Diagnosed a crack in the porcelain interior of the toilet (probably due to floor work recently completed) and suggested a new toilet. Provided a make, item number, and source (Home Depot). We ordered three so we could take care of all our toilet problems at once. They came back and installed all three in two hours. Removed the old toilets (for a fee). Altogether, the bill was about half the cost of the toilets. No drama. The installer was friendly, polite, and wore a mask. We are quite happy with the new toilets and with the installation process. One star off because it took them a week to return our call. Typical. The best plumbers are always busy and their focus is on the customer they are with. As it should be. read more

Fantastic service! The guy was just here and he did great (and quick) work of the 3 issues I had for him. He was honest up front about one of the problems, saying it might be something that he'd have to come back another day for. Happily, he was able to clear the block in the pipes and the sink is now working. No ripping up of the wall - yay! Legit. Mark and his guy came over to fix 5 problems including a clogged dishwasher port, couple of slow drains, a leaky faucet stem, and a shower pressure balancing valve problem. They were on time. They got straight to the point. The great thing is that they thought they needed two parts (1 for shower and 1 for faucet), they were able to diagnose and fix it without having to replace the part. Score. They were both super courteous and local SJ folks - they are invested in their company and do not want to risk it due to bad reviews. This was our second time using Blossom Valley Plumbing. I sort of remember the first time our water heater went out some seven years ago (just longer than the length of the manufacturer's warranty, of course), and they did a good job so we called them again. The installation went great. Price was as quoted over the phone and reasonable. I'm happy with the size and brand of heater they chose for us. The plumber was quick, courteous, and did a good job of cleaning up and hauling away the old heater. But-- he was 50 minutes late. He said he "got stuck" in another city about 20 miles north of us. It seems to me that if you know it takes 30 minutes to drive where you're going, and you're "stuck" and not leaving anytime soon, it doesn't take much in the cellphone era to call and say, "Hi, I'm going to be 45 minutes to an hour late." So, minus one star for that. But next time I need a water heater (not for another seven years, hopefully), I'll definitely call Blossom Valley Plumbing. read more

We were referred to Mark of Blossom Valley Plumbing by a contractor who was going to put in pavers at our home. Reason being is that the sewage drain pipe was sticking out pretty high above the ground. Mark scheduled his technician, Doug, to come out and cut the pipe down to the level needed by the pavers team. The only glitch was that the sewage drain pipe was not properly installed by our home's builder and it was broken during the demo phase. Mark was able to have Doug take care of repairing and refitting with better materials and have it lowered. Initially we were worried that the technician was going to move on to his other appointments as our matter turned out a little more complicated. We could not have asked for a better outcome. We were very impressed by Mark's professionalism and his concern to have this issue taken care of for us in a timely manner that did not set us back with the pavers crew. The other half attempted a DIY on a minor toilet leak and ended up flooding our bathroom floor. I called this place to have someone come as soon as possible, and after dealing with a dispatcher/middleman, an employee was able to respond after an hour. The employee did not have any identifying uniform besides a box of tools, but was courteous and upfront about our problem. Apparently, the valves should have been tighter and definitely should have been sealed prior to turning the water back on. This was an easy fix, about ten minutes, but still amounted to $80 despite him conferring with the business owner about the easiness of the repair. Much like other service professions, there is a flat per hour, minimum one hour rate, so that suck--but my auto mechanic will charge only half an hour if it a service takes less than half an hour. Anyhow, the leak wasn't entirely repaired when the plumber left since drops of water were still leaking from the water supply tube to the toilet. With the $80 diagnosis, my boyfriend was able to repair the leak himself, and follow-up calls to the business for service were disregarded. I'm calling someone else for our garbage disposal replacement. Just okay. If we didn't have such an emergency, I probably would've gone with a different plumbing company, but BVP was able to respond quickly. read more

We needed a water filtration system and Mark researched the various types and then explained them all patiently to me.
