Sarah double books clients and only spends 30 minutes on a full highlight. Will not go back.

I've been coming to Drybar for years, both when I lived in Austin and after moving to San Antonio,…read moreand overall my experience has been pretty mixed -- which is why I'm giving it a middle-of-the-road rating. When it's good, it's really good. There are a few stylists here who are absolute gems and consistently do an amazing job. The problem is that because they're so good, they're also very hard to book since everyone tries to reserve them. The bigger issue is consistency. There seems to be a high turnover with stylists, so sometimes you get someone very experienced and other times it feels like you might be with someone who just got their license recently. Because of that, the quality of the blowout can be a bit hit or miss. Timing can also be stressful. They're very strict if a client is late, but in my experience appointments often start late on their end. Many times I've had to wait 5-10 minutes past my appointment time, and occasionally it's been 30-45 minutes, which can be tough if you're getting ready for an event. I also have curly hair (not coarse, just curly), and if a stylist isn't comfortable working with that texture, what should be a normal appointment can turn into a much longer session -- sometimes up to an hour and a half. That said, for the price point it can still be a convenient option, especially since there aren't many direct competitors offering the same type of service. I've had my membership twice over the years and used it frequently. However, after thinking about it, I recently decided to cancel my membership. I've enjoyed many visits here and there are definitely talented stylists, but the inconsistency and timing issues ultimately made it harder to rely on regularly.

I had a very disappointing experience at this Drybar location. I drove 30 minutes to get there, but…read morethe GPS kept taking me to a Pilates studio nearby, making it hard to find. I actually arrived at the mall 15 minutes before my appointment, but I got lost trying to locate the salon and spent that time calling the store repeatedly and no one ever answered the phone. When I finally found the place, the check-in staff was rude and told me that because I was 11 minutes late(1 minute over the grace period), I could only get a dry style instead of the wash and blowout I had booked. I came specifically for the full service, so this was very frustrating. I even suggested removing the scalp massage so there would be time for my wash and blowout, but it was clear the staff hadn't even reviewed my booking or its details. On top of that, I had requested purple shampoo and conditioner since I had just colored my hair, but that was ignored. The person who washed my hair didn't do it properly, my scalp wasn't even fully wet. The stylist was clearly inexperienced and did not deliver the style I wanted. Overall, the experience felt rushed, unprofessional, and poorly handled. I never write negative reviews, but this experience was bad enough that I felt I had to. This location needs better training and customer service if they want to keep clients coming back.

I hate to write a bad review, but I'm just going to be honest…read more I found out about Treat through citysearch.com. They had a video which talked about their complimentary scalp massage, hand massage and mini facial with every hair cut. How could I resist?! At my first appointment, the stylist was nice and we had good conversation (sort of important to me, otherwise the whole experience seems sort of...cold). He cut my hair the way I'd asked and even recommended some products, but he wasn't pushy. The massages and mini facial were great! The next time, I went to the same stylist and I brought in a picture of how I wanted my hair to look. He seemed to understand. Throughout the cut he barely said two words to me. When he was finished it looked NOTHING like the photo and I didn't even like what he'd done. My bangs were combed back behind my ears and they were supposed to be sweeping across my forehead. I was very disappointed. When I did my hair the next day I managed to style it just like the photo. He had cut it correctly, but neglected to style it so. The cut was $55, and I understand you get 'complimentary' services with it, but I was too disappointed to pay that again. In my opinion, the massages and facial cost $20 since I'm used to paying $35.

I went to Treat Hair Studio because I read nothing but great reviews on line. My expectations…read moregreatly exceeded what was delivered. My first impression of the Salon was that it was cold and unfriendly. My stylist was inexperienced. My color was put on dry, unwashed hair (hair should be shampooed with a clarifying shampoo before ALL chemical services, always), processed under a plastic cap (hair color needs to oxidize, i.e. needs fresh air) and left to process for almost an hour when only 20 minutes was necessary. I had to sign a waiver promising to use recommended products and to go 48 hours before washing my hair. Of course the stylist shampooed it twice so whats the point? The products I bought at Treat listed salt or sodium chloride as an ingredient (which will fade color and dry hair). My haircut was at best mediocre and in some areas bad. The stylist was clearly inexperienced and insecure. She only cut the back and crown area and most of the top and front alone, I think because she wasn't sure what to do. Stylists that inexperienced should be in an apprentice program, not fetching top dollar for their services. They promote themselves as using products with natural ingredients and essential oils but they can't mean their hair care line Davines, which contains parabens, disodium edta, artificial colors and simply lists fragrance/parfum as an ingredient (no mention of essential oils).

Not only did they fit us in at the last minute, but they worked on hair that really needed some TLC. For that alone I am grateful. I asked her to cut it and during the cut she said the scissors weren't sharpened, Now that isn't inherently bad but my hair I felt was cut far shorter than I intended. And the bangs were not what I wanted either. I am not one to speak much about my hair when it's getting cut but I just feel very disheartened by it and while hair grows back, this memory won't be forgotten. Just very disappointed, depressing and sad all around. Brought me to light tears. At the cost of almost $100 I would expect better professionalism when it comes to a customer's hair and making sure you're cutting it according to their wishes. On a personal note, I was always a return customer because I really liked her and I just hope she can improve on this or doesn't happen to anyone else.

What made matters worse is that they do not accept walk-ins, which would be fine if they were actually responsive. I called three separate times and not a single call was answered. No callback, no communication, nothing. Because I couldn't get through to anyone, I had no choice but to go there in person just to ask about appointment availability--only to be told they don't take walk-ins. The lack of basic customer service and communication is unacceptable. If you expect people to schedule ahead, the least you can do is answer your phone. Very disappointing experience. I would not recommend unless you have a lot of time and patience to deal with the hassle.

Which totally defeated the purpose of paying to get my hair done. I think the only thing that I liked on my makeup was the eyeshadow, the lashes had lifted at one end of both eyes. My stylist was Lili, I don't think I would return or recommend, especially for the money spent and dissatisfaction of the results. Also, I understood that the salon was located downtown and how I would have to pay for parking because of it, however, I had even asked via text message if they recommended a place to park which they were helpful in sending a picture of one and with it showing their side door for me to enter on the weekend. However, when I got up to the salon, they had asked me for my license plate information to cover or waive the parking expense. Unfortunately, this information wasn't relayed to me in advance that they would be covering the parking expense and the parking lot states you have to pay when you park and when I told her I had already paid for it nobody told me anything even when I asked ahead where to park, Lili's response was "oh well next time." It would have been nice to save the $21.56 that I had spent for 2 hours of parking. Again, super appreciative that they even offer this it's just nice that if it is offered that the information is relayed so I could have appreciated/benefited from it as well.
