I've been coming to Drybar for years, both when I lived in Austin and after moving to San Antonio, and overall my experience has been pretty mixed -- which is why I'm giving it a middle-of-the-road rating. When it's good, it's really good. There are a few stylists here who are absolute gems and consistently do an amazing job. The problem is that because they're so good, they're also very hard to book since everyone tries to reserve them. The bigger issue is consistency. There seems to be a high turnover with stylists, so sometimes you get someone very experienced and other times it feels like you might be with someone who just got their license recently. Because of that, the quality of the blowout can be a bit hit or miss. Timing can also be stressful. They're very strict if a client is late, but in my experience appointments often start late on their end. Many times I've had to wait 5-10 minutes past my appointment time, and occasionally it's been 30-45 minutes, which can be tough if you're getting ready for an event. I also have curly hair (not coarse, just curly), and if a stylist isn't comfortable working with that texture, what should be a normal appointment can turn into a much longer session -- sometimes up to an hour and a half. That said, for the price point it can still be a convenient option, especially since there aren't many direct competitors offering the same type of service. I've had my membership twice over the years and used it frequently. However, after thinking about it, I recently decided to cancel my membership. I used to love coming here because there was a girl I could always rely on to make my hair look amazing in under an hour. I came to this location yesterday (8 months pregnant with twins)--the chairs are so uncomfortable, and the girl doing my hair wasn't very good or friendly. She took nearly two hours, didn't talk at all, and she kept caking product in my hair that made my hair feel sticky when I left. The blowout looked awful and all the product weighed my hair down. The curls ended up falling due to product and my hair type is the type to hold curls for days. I spent $80 after tip and it wasn't worth it. My advice to anyone wanting a good blowout is to go to the Paul Mitchell hair school in stone oak. The girls always do such a great job and it's only $20 or you can pay for a monthly membership. Don't waste your money at a place like drybar because it's always a hit or miss when it should be a reliable place to get a blowout. read more

I had a very disappointing experience at this Drybar location. I drove 30 minutes to get there, but the GPS kept taking me to a Pilates studio nearby, making it hard to find. I actually arrived at the mall 15 minutes before my appointment, but I got lost trying to locate the salon and spent that time calling the store repeatedly and no one ever answered the phone. When I finally found the place, the check-in staff was rude and told me that because I was 11 minutes late(1 minute over the grace period), I could only get a dry style instead of the wash and blowout I had booked. I came specifically for the full service, so this was very frustrating. I even suggested removing the scalp massage so there would be time for my wash and blowout, but it was clear the staff hadn't even reviewed my booking or its details. On top of that, I had requested purple shampoo and conditioner since I had just colored my hair, but that was ignored. The person who washed my hair didn't do it properly, my scalp wasn't even fully wet. The stylist was clearly inexperienced and did not deliver the style I wanted. Overall, the experience felt rushed, unprofessional, and poorly handled. I never write negative reviews, but this experience was bad enough that I felt I had to. This location needs better training and customer service if they want to keep clients coming back. read more

The stylist who did my hair made me feel very welcome at this establishment. He asked thorough questions during the initial consult to ensure that he understood exactly what I was needing for my blow dry. He gave me a wash and massaged the treatment into my scalp which was so relaxing it almost put me to sleep. The blow dry was exceptional as he gave me the curls that I was wanting for my special occasion. He also styled my bangs to give them volume & to match with the style of my curls & the rest of my hair. He was very attentive and made sure to ask if I was satisfied with my hair after the service. Did not have a good experience at all and won't be back nor would I recommend to anyone else. This was my first visit and I had high hopes as I love a good blow out. My stylist was polite I think. She really did not speak. She didn't even try to make any type of conversation, never smiled and seemed exceptionally uncomfortable and unhappy to be doing what she was doing. I was off on a bad leg from the start with her. She took me for a shampoo and literally all 6 sinks were in use and it was crowded and too tight - she did not offer the foot stool and I had to ask as the seat was very uncomfortable with my legs on the ground. Once she started the shampoo, the temperature started out fine which she asked me about but then the rest of the time she would start to rinse, it was literally freezing cold to the point of me having to say something. There was not a towel on the neck cut out on the sink and it was very uncomfortable too. I had to keep lifting my head out of the sink as she told me the sink was backing up and she was having trouble rinsing my hair. Once finally (and thankfully) done, she used a towel not much bigger than a wash cloth (and old and dingy at that) to put my hair in some sort of a wet bun and told me to walk back to her station. There was water cascading down my front and back as the towel was nowhere large enough for my hair and there was not another towel offered. I was dressed and doing my best to keep from getting soaked - unacceptable. And then I got to sit at her station. It was by far the most uncomfortable salon chair I've ever sat in previously in my 50 plus years of visiting salons. I kept shifting my position trying to get comfortable and she even said "uh yeah, they aren't very good chairs". No kidding! Truly the worst part of an already bad experience. My blow dry was okay but she couldn't figure out my part despite my hair falling naturally where I have parted it forever. They said the employee was new so I gave them a break. In January 25, these clowns charged my card for a nonexistent appointment. Multiple days of calling them resulted in no one answering the phone, but when someone finally did, they claimed that I had a cancellation and I have to speak with their manager. They refused to refund me. I had to dispute the charge and get my Amex replaced, which was very inconvenient, but I'm not tipping a crappy business $119. I'm not a charity. read more

I was excited to go relax and get my hair shampooed and scalp massage. First it took very long to get me seated then she was forgetting to do my hair scalp massage which was an add on. She said she must have read it wrong and almost forgot to include that If I would not have reminded her. Then I told her to style my part to the left and she styled it to the other side. So when she tried to fix it over and over my hair got frizzy and looked burned. I paid 88.00 dollars to go home and redo my shampoo to start fresh and style my own hair. What a horrific experience. I walked in and stood at the reception deck for 10 minutes. Not a single stylist looked up or checked me in. I eventually went up to someone and asked to be checked in. I sat and waited 25 minutes without a single person coming to check on me, asking if I wanted a water or offering an apology for running so late. Eventually after being ignored I told a stylist I was leaving and couldn't wait anymore. This place is poorly managed and clearly does not care about their clients. The worst Dry Bar I have ever been to. Will never come back and will actively encourage others to do the same. P.S. What really pushed me over the edge is the policy: customers face a $30 fee if a service runs over 45 minutes, yet my stylist has been pulled to the front to work the cash register, or I've been booked with a new stylist still in training--both of which slow things down through no fault of the customer. Paying $90 for a blowout under those conditions is unreasonable. I shared feedback and ultimately canceled my membership. Management feedback: Respect your customers' time and money. If you're going to enforce time-based fees, don't interrupt services or assign trainees without adjusting expectations or pricing. I use drybar at least once a month as seen from my previous review. I also have a monthly membership. The management in this location has seriously declined. They are not reliable and I would NOT recommend. A couple of weeks ago, I scheduled an appointment for 7:15am before an important work day. After driving for almost an hour, I arrived and the store was closed. I waited until 8am for someone to arrive and open the store, yet no one did. It was a frustrating experience, as my hair was not ready for work- however I tried to extend grace acknowledging that employee incidents happen. I had hope that the manager would follow up and we would discuss this. 24 hours later, the store never called. I called the store asking to speak with the manager and was told she would contact me. Two days passed and she never called. I had to follow up three times before reaching her. During our phone call, the manager did not seem apologetic. She simply said, "okay we will give you a free blowout." There was zero customer service skills in this call. The free hair blowout was the least of my concerns. Regardless, I was kind and scheduled my complimentary appointment directly with her. Fast forward to today, I notice I have not received any sort of email as usual confirming my appointment. I did not think too much of it because it was not scheduled online, but instead, with the manager. However, I gave a call to confirm and unsurprisingly.... The manager was not available AND I am not on the schedule. This location is so poorly run which is a shame because they have many talented employees. If you do decide to take the risk, I highly recommend booking with Brooklyn, Rashel, or Dylan. They always leave my curly hair great. Unfortunately, management and the store organization is too poor. For one they don't answer any phone calls. I've called multiple times and no answer. The front desk l receptionist has no idea what she is doing she acts clueless. Apparently if you request a stylist you can just walk right in and get seated. But just choosing an appointment time you have to wait 30+ mins to be seated. I googled blow outs and this place came up and I decided to try it out. Had a conditioning treatment and an amazing 10 minute scalp massage. The best part of my whole visit. I was randomly placed with Becca and before blowing out my curls, she sectioned my hair and this told me she knew what she was doing! She pretty much blow dried my hair straight which I've never seen and then went through with a straightener. Took a little over an hour but when I do this, it takes me 3 and I need a nap and a full course meal after! I was in town for a wedding and booked an appointment the morning of the wedding. I showed up to see that the doors were still locked, there was no one inside, and no employees to be seen- just 8 other customers standing outside waiting for their appointments. The only person to arrive was the poor front desk attendant who had just started working and didn't have a key. She was calling the manager and all the stylists and was incredibly apologetic. After almost half an hour standing outside (past my appointment time) the manager finally arrived to unlock the doors. Only then did all the stylists pop out of their cars (they had all been sitting in their cars, watching the new front desk attendant make all the calls and deal with all the waiting customers). The manager had no excuses for why no one had been there on time and she was incredibly dismissive of the entire problem. Some of the other customers said that this is a routine occurrence here- and the manager definitely acted like this happens all the time here! Long story short: don't waste your time here. You might end up waiting outside for someone to unlock the building and not get your blowout for over an hour past your booked time. The managers are apathetic, the stylists don't care, the only person to show a shred of decency was the sweet front desk attendant. Not worth your time or money!! read more

My appointment started late and my stylist was extremely inexperienced - like first week on the job. It would have been a better use of my time and money to do it myself. My appointment took much longer than it should have and I had to leave early because I was running late. The manager noticed my hair stylist struggling and did nothing. She just kept fixing her lip gloss in the mirror and strutting around (for whom? I don't know. There were only two customers there). Getting a blowout should be a worry-free experience. Very friendly, my stylest was new, so she took longer than I expected. So if you are in a hurry, make sure when making the appointment to set clear expectations of what you are expecting. A typical blowout should be apprx. 45 min. However, if your hair is long ( pass your shoulders) or have an extension plan to be there for 1 hour and half. I have extension pass my shoulders. I had an unfortunate experience at this Dry Bar location today that I would like to share, as it's not the Dry Bar experience I have come to know and love. I had an appointment for a blow out + add on for myself + a guest scheduled for Saturday, October 28th at 5:00pm at the San Antonio, TX at Alamo Query location. My guest and I arrived at 5pm and checked in with the receptionist for our appointments, then took a seat. When the receptionist came to ask my guests name for the ticket, I also asked for a glass of champagne while we waited. The receptionist said ok, but didn't return with anything to drink or offer any alternative. At 5:20pm, I asked the receptionist how much longer it would be until our stylists would be ready, and she said one stylists just finished and the other would be another 10-15 minutes as she was still curling her previous guests hair. We both had prior appointments made and needed to leave Dry Bar by 6:15pm, so starting our services between 5:30-5:45pm wouldn't give us enough time for the 55 minutes allotted by Dry Bar for our service time. I asked the receptionist to cancel our appointments, and confirm we were not charged for the late cancellation. The manager of the location has already left for the day, so she wasn't able to help, but I was assured I wouldn't be charged for the service. If I show up 15+ minutes late for my appointment, my appointment is canceled and I am charged. If I wait at a Dry Bar location for 20+ minutes for my service to start, I'm told sorry and nothing else. This is not the experience I have come to love and expect from a Dry Bar after being a customer for many years, and I believe this can be a learning opportunity for this location and it's team members. If I would have known my stylists was running behind when I checked in, I could have planned accordingly and made a decision before sitting and getting frustrated and ultimately having to leave. My home Dry Bar in Brentwood, TN has always been great, and this experience leaves me weary to make appointments at any other Dry Bar location when I'm traveling. read more

I made a reservation to get my hair done for a wedding I was in town for. Tyler was very helpful on the phone, he made sure I was booked with the best stylist for my hair. When I arrived I was immediately greeted and offered a complimentary glass of sparkling wine. Within 2 minutes I was sat down with wine waiting for me. Agnes was my stylist and she was amazing. I love the location (conveniently located at the Quarry), and the service was as I expect from a Drybar location after going to a few in different states. Since it's corporate, there's a lot of consistency in branding, service, quality, etc. This Drybar location fit the bill for what I needed on this trip. Would use again. read more
