Popped in here last night to pick up take out for myself and a girlfriend. Had never been before but had been hearing about it for years. We got an assortment of things: Tzatziki, Hummus, Roasted Beets, a pizza and she got Chicken parm and chicken pasta. The presentation of everything was pretty great. Didn't love the hummus or tzatziki as they were both not as flavorful as I hoped. The beets were tasty but served cold when I expected them to be hot. The pizza was excellent - I went for the Vodka one. Vodka sauce and prosciutto! Very tasty. My friend thoroughly enjoyed her chicken parm and the chicken pasta. Ive been a Blue Fig fan for years! It's always my go to spot when I'm in Rockland because of the causal atmosphere and they have something for everyone on their menu. I would recommend their pizzas and salads. Usually I end up ordering a pizza to share and one of their salads. Their pizzas are all thin crust and delicious, you really can't go wrong with any of them. My favorite is the vodka prosciutto pizza- the sauce is to die for! All of their salads are crisp and generously portioned. I always go for the mediterranean shrimp salad. It comes on a bed of romaine lettuce, topped with grilled jumbo shrimp, red peppers, thinly sliced onion, pine nuts, sprinkled feta cheese, and served with a delicious balsamic vinaigrette. It's a cute set up but we were sitting close to the door and everytime someone opened the door we got a chill it's a cute place t just g a grab a bite. Food wise i had the penne and it looked like soup they had to much sauce :( the buffalo wings are great but what it comes down too is us sitting close to the door so maybe as soon as someone came in and out our food got pretty cold fast. My family and usually I pick up food from here rather than eat in, but we have sat in a few times. The restaurant is situated in a pretty convenient location, with lots of parking in a huge lot. The place itself is pretty spacious with indoor and outdoor seating which is super nice during the summer). Our favorite thing to order from here is their Vodka Pizza- it's just the right amount of creamy and savory when it hits your mouth. Their wings are also pretty good- not overly saucy like some buffalo wings tend to be. The Buffalo Chicken Salad you can never go wrong with. A few things that could use a bit more flavoring in my opinion would be the Zucchini Chips and Calamari. The calamari has a bit of a rubbery feel to me when you chew it. Last night I went to Blu Fig with my two girlfriends. I've been there in the past and had a great experience as far as I can remember. Last night I ordered the Mediterranean Shrimp Salad and two of the main ingredients were left out. One of which was the reason why I ordered the dish. If you don't have all the ingredients for a dish you should tell the customer so that they have an opportunity to order something different. I hate it when restaurants serve you a dish that is missing ingredients and hope you don't notice. The service that we had on the other hand was excellent. I usually avoid Main Street like the plague, because 1) narrow roads, 2) high schoolers running amok, especially during breaks, Fridays, and weekends, 3) lack of parking, and 4) sad declining businesses (I'm looking at you City Line). Blu Fig's in the same plaza as Ephendi and American Burrito, but Ephendi has been closed for the time being thanks to "food contamination" and American Burrito better pray to God Almighty that Chipotle Inc. never decides to set up an outpost here. Though I would patronize the shit out of a New City Chipotle. I appreciate that Blu Fig doesn't try to charge NYC prices for suburban food. Every dish was reasonably priced: the sandwiches are all in the $7-8 range (with a pea-sized salad on the side), and I don't think any entree exceeds $20. I ordered the chicken parm, and extra points for giving an even ratio of chicken to pasta. None of that silly one chicken breast business. I knew I wanted some horrendously greasy bar food later, so I only ate half of my dish and saved the rest for lunch. Place was packed to the gills on a Thursday night, so our waiter was a tad preoccupied, but he made sure to come by and check on us every now and then. The one thing I'm not a fan of is the acoustics at Blu Fig. It's friggin' loud, especially when you get a bunch of fifty-something women who haven't seen each other in awhile, so don't come here looking for a quiet candlelit dinner where you and your Japanese body pillow can exchange sweet nothings. But overall, probably one of the best choices on Main Street to get your grub on. read more

I come here all of the time and have never not enjoyed my meal!! I usually go with chicken parm, personal pizza, or penne vodka. The sandwiches are also really good and come on delicious warm ciabatta bread! They have great service and are typically fine with different substations and additions. For example I have gotten toppings on my pizza not listed in the toppings section, or you can substitute chicken for shrimp no problem! Some restaurants are picky about that but not here! A very nice location in the heart of New City! The inside of the restaurant had a clean, crisp look to it and I'd have to describe it as more trendy than cozy. I ordered a chicken cibatta sandwich that had pesto, basil, and tomatoes on it. The sandwich was well presented and was neatly displayed. It was good, but a little too plain for my taste. I added some balsamic vinegar from a salad and it gave it just the right amount of "zing"! I had also ordered chocolate mousse for dessert (delicious) and tried some of my friend's rice pudding. Normally I'm not a fan of rice pudding, but they added a hint of apple that reminded me more of a mild apple turnover. So good. I went yesterday for lunch for my birthday with my Mom and sister. The food as always was AMAZING. I highly recommend the portobello chibbada sandwich. It is outstanding. 5 stars for food! The service was beyond disappointing. We were asked what we wanted upon entering. We had to ask to take a menu to a table. It was not busy. We were told once we were ready to order to come back to the front and order. We had to pay immediately upon ordering and we got our drinks in disposable cups. There were several workers hanging out at the front. No one ever asked how we were doing our if we needed something. I had to ask for more napkins, the male worker nodded at me. I said thank you when he finally got them...he didn't say a word. Upon leaving 3 male workers were at the entrance, none said thank you or have a nice day. My mother said thank you and they said you're welcome. I frequent the Stony Point BF, and will stay going there. Not the first negative experience in the New City one. It would have been nice to been asked if we wanted coffee or dessert, we went elsewhere for that. I had a crab cake that tasted like it had been frozen for 5 yrs before thrown in a toaster oven and a shrimp scampi that burned my mouth and just tasted like country crock butter. Underwhelming, unfortunately given the reviews, and not many authentic Greek options, but perhaps that's because we came for lunch. You could tell that effort was made in the design and decor of the space initially but upkeep seemed lacking - materials are showing some wear and tear, giving the space a "has been" vibe. The appetizers we got (calamari, seared tuna, eggplant) were unexpectedly large and would have been fine to share between 2 people. The calamari batter had little to no seasoning and the sauce was generic. The tuna was nicely seared but the pepper crust overwhelmed the tuna's flavor, so much so that I had to cut some of it off. And, the eggplant, while tasty, was quite oily. My kids seemed to like the chicken kabob, not saying much since they don't have discriminating palates, but the chicken ciabatta sandwich was unremarkable as was the clams linguine. The service was prompt and attentive (there weren't too many diners), though somewhat perfunctory / non solicitous. Ordered the shrimp salad... the shrimp was good, salad was soggy and some leaves were brown. There was water at the bottom of the salad as well and it looks like it came from the corn that comes with it. Idk how it's possible to mess up a salad this bad but it's possible. What really threw me off was when the guy at the front coughed near the cups and napkins against the wall. Disgusting since he didn't cover his mouth. I was here on a Friday night for dinner at about 8 pm and it was jammed. This is basically a trendy NYC restaurant that's in Rockland County. The food is good at very fair prices. The zucchini chips are good, the pizzas are decent if you like California style, and for an entree I got the shrimp scampi pasta which was a huge portion for only $12. The meal was finished off with a huge piece of baklava. If I come back here, I would just get a bunch of the small plates and split them, I think they're a little better than the entrees. Right now the prices are very reasonable, but I expect them to increase soon once they have a solid customer base. If you're looking for Mediterranean food in Rockland, this is a solid choice. read more

Went to Blu Fig for Dinner with my wife on 8/7/10 because I found it on Yelp. I have to say, it was pretty good. The decor was very trendy and modern. Decor gets 4 stars. Upon arrival there was only one other group sitting inside - most people were eating on their patio. I chose to watch the Yankees beat up on the Red Sox instead. By the time we were leaving, both the inside and outside were very busy. The inside got fairly loud once half full - this is likely do to the cavernous space. The service was good - not amazing, but not bad either. They were quick to seat us and ask what we would like to drink. I had water, my wife had an unsweetened ice tea with some sort of berry flavor. It was pretty good - for those who enjoy mild flavor. 3 stars for service. I ordered Buffalo wings to start - $5. I would give them 3 stars. They had a great taste but were somewhat small and overly crispy. My wife enjoyed a ceasar salad ($6) that she said was also mild in its flavor but she enjoyed it. For our main course, My wife ordered a chicken dinner - $14. The meat/skin was slightly over seasoned for our tastes. The veggies were very good and the mashed potatoes were pretty good too. I had a pulled pork sandwich that features Blu Fig's black cherry BBQ sauce. On the side they offered a small amount of lettuce with a light dressing. The sandwich portion was small but filling. Plus it was only $7 - very reasonable! Overall I would give the main course 4 stars. For dessert my wife ordered a glass of tea and Baklava ($5). I had never had Baklava before and I have to say, it was pretty good. My wife enjoyed it s well. I ordered Chocolate Mousse ($5). I would have given it 5 stars except it was clearly frozen just before serving. The Mousse was harder than it should have been. It was serviced in a nice glass dish with whipped cream, blackberries and half a strawberry. Everything blended together very well and it had an excellent taste. 4 stars Overall I give Blu-Fig 4 stars - maybe 3.5 if Yelp offered it. Very good quick dining casual spot in old Greek space in the strip mall across from the movie theater in New City. Although it has the look and feel of a very nicely designed and modern casual restaurant, it has an odd ordering system in which you order at the front desk and then have your food delivered to you. The advantage, particularly for lunch, is that you can be in and out in much less than half an hour. The service has always been quick and friendly, and the decor is clean and easy on the eyes. As for the food, it has a surprisingly deep menu of pizzas, salads, and seafood for a place where you order at the counter. Some highlights: * The crabcakes are reasonably priced and very yummy. * The coconut shrimp is absolutely delicious, and although not good for you is irresistible once you've tried it. * The steamed clams are a nice option, something different for a New City lunch. * The pizzas are very good, with interesting combinations. Overall, everything is well-prepared, well-served, relatively inexpensive, and quick. I've not had dinner, so I can't speak to that, but the lunch is a great quick option in New City read more

This is what we needed in chain-dominated Rockland County. My husband loves the pizzas, and I go for the salads and pastas. The pricing is great, and the outdoor seating is comfortable and separated from the street by a wall. My only complaint is the always-on TV in the main room!
