If you're looking for a great burger, Blu Wolf is the place to go! Their fries and onion rings are also amazing. I ordered the Pork rodeo burger ($15), which comes with pulled pork on a hamburger, with onion rings, bacon, lettuce and tomatoes, pepper jack, bbq sauce, all in between a cheddar bun. The waitress told me that they had run out of pulled pork, but they luckily had pork belly so they put that with no extra charge at all. And it was incredible. The cheddar bun is definitely the way to go, and even better that this burger came with it (it costs extra to go from normal bun to their special buns). The pork belly was juicy and soooo tasty! The burger itself, I wish wasn't as cooked as it was. It was more medium than the medium rare I ordered which is why they have one less star. So my burger was great, and then my friend decided to do their burger challenge! It comes with 4 8oz burger patties, a macdaddy patty (patty of fried mac n cheese), meat sauce, a pound of fries, and a milkshake, and all the lettuce and tomatoes of course. If you don't finish it, you have to pay $35, which isn't bad considering my one 8 oz burger cost $15. My friend had 40 min to complete it and no throwing up after. Unfortunately he didn't make it folks :(. So naturally I finished it for him (he had finished 3 of the burger patties, a few fries, the lettuce and tomatoes, and the milkshake - not that impressive right haha). The macdaddy patty is DRY, which is so disappointing since I was really between my pork rodeo and their macdaddy burger but clearly I made a good choice. My friend told me that all the burgers were cooked medium well, which definitely is not the best to eat since they're harder to chew. The staff should definitely ask how the challenger wants their meat right? Anyways, the staff was super nice and encouraging for my buddy challenger. Came here on a Monday night. No hostess & when they did show up the phone rang & he answered the phone. No problem he acknowledged me with a nod before taking the call. He left the stand & went to the bar with the phone. We had 4 servers walk right past us & say nothing while we stood up there waiting. The hostess finally came back & then seated us. We sat in a booth. The booth had food on the seat & in the condiment holder there were old napkins & a folded up old beer menu. That tells you they don't clean them that often. I had the pretzels & my daughter had a side of fruit. My husband & boyfriend had the brisket Mac & cheese. It came out not even warm & their portions were very different sizes like it wasn't measured before coming out. Our waitress barely came around & then it took forever for her to do anything. She was very friendly but the speed of service after asking her for something was very poor. The prices here are absolutely outrageous for what you get. Been here various times and have never been disappointed with the food. As one of the larger restaurants on park, they can accommodate larger groups and during the summer they open up outdoor patio seating which is prime for people watching on park. I hear their Sunday brunch is good though I've not yet been. Additionally they offer a burger challenge which includes about 4lbs of food and a large shake which is daunting but doable (not for me, but I've seen it with my own eyes). This bar has a clean modern look with a couple tvs at the bar and a very nice selection of liquors (especially whiskies!) AND craft beers. The staff has always been very friendly and attentive. Foodwise... i have no complaints. They are known mostly for their burgers which are thick and extremely juicy-- the kind that requires a ridiculous amount of extra napkins.... And that's a good thing. They also have a wild game burger which changes on the daily which may include bison, ostrich, etc... Wings are meaty and flavorful with an extremely hot option reserved only for professionals. Recently I was here for paddys day in which their special was corned beef and cabbage... Slightly salty, but amazing-- extremely tender, the cabbage grilled... Delicious. I approve that they sport tots which is always a crowd fav but their elbow fries are hit or miss. If I could give this establishment a 0 rating I would... it was just an awful experience. Bad service and awful food. The women who took our name when we got there told me 20 minutes for a wait so I didn't think that was bad . 50 minutes later we get the text that are table is ready. When we're seated our table is dirty. So dirty the when the waiter came to introduce himself he said "they seated you here like this?" At this point I was just extremely hungry we ordered our food and about 40 mins later my husbands food arrives to the table and not mine. 20 minutes later mine comes out and now he's done... this was our anniversary meal and let me tell you it was awful I was mad we even wasted our money on that trash. Holy cow I love this place. Every cocktail is delicious and the food is incredible! The special drink for the day was a pineapple margarita which was so good along with their whiskey mule and strawberry lo g island iced tea. Fruit in the drinks are real and not fake juice you can tell. Now onto their food. The burgers are cooked perfectly. I ordered medium rare and it was perfectly pink and thick patties that the juice just runs out of. Their version of a garbage plate is so much better than anywhere else bc of their mac and cheese and the bottom which they load you up with the noodles and tons of sauce for the fries to help mop that goodness up. We thought we would give this place another try since It had been almost three years since we last ate here. Our first time here was just OK and thus why we did not rush back. Well this experience was actually worse... Since they don't take reservations you can call ahead to get on the list an hour in advance - not sure that reduced our wait. And then the table they tried to give us was right by the door which at most restaurants is bad but here it is terrible since you get blasted by cold air each time someone enters or exits. We opted to wait another 10 mins for a booth away from the door. The hostess seemed pretty overwhelmed which I found interesting since this place is always crowded... Once seated it took a bit before the waitress stopped by. She was friendly. The drinks came out quickly but it took her awhile for her to stop again to take our meal order. Then we waited, at least 30 minutes for the food to arrive. One in our group had ordered the special of Lobster and Shrimp Scampi.. when the food was delivered the waitress informed us that they ran out of lobster so it was now Scallop and Shrimp Scampi! Really, what if she didn't like scallops? After waiting this long for the food do you think we would send it back? No offer of a discount or anything... Wow! Also the Big Pig burger while good in concept was poorly executed - not medium rare, the bun was actually cold like right out of the fridge (and dry), and the fries were luke warm at best. Service: Service here can be VERY inconsistent although recently it's been better than in the past. Went on a busy Friday night and waited about 35 minutes for a table outside. Our waitress was great and attentive without being overbearing. She had great suggestions and a cheery disposition. Food: I ordered the fish fry special ($16) which I was surprisingly impressed by. Blu wolf is typically my hangover spot so I was shocked when my IPA battered fish was tender and the outside perfectly crispy. Their bent arm fries are always a hit and tasted very fresh. In an effort to pretend to be health conscious with my fish fry....I ordered a side salad which had a combination of fresh spring mix, diced tomatoes, and shredded carrots. Delicious! I would definitely recommend ordering their huge fish fry if it's available on a Friday. Ambience: Rochesterians must always take advantage of decent weather by flocking to Park and sitting outside. I live just around the corner but I have only been there three times. From time to time, when I got lazy and don't want to cook, I would check the menus of restaurants nearby. BluWolf bistro is the place I always consider as a candidate but rarely go. They open long hours and they always look busy. Went there for brunch once and had some fried softshell crabs. Thought it was interesting but never saw that on the menu again. Another time I had their cajun shrimp & chicken pasta (I think it used to be lobster? Or is it me hallucinating?) because I always like bucatini. I think it was tasty although it was rather greasy. Portion was good though. Another time I ordered chicken and waffle for takeout. Was visiting a friend in Rochester and we came here for brunch. It was awesome! The breakfast bowls all sound incredible. I got the "Back in the Saddle," which comes with 2 eggs, pulled pork, tater tots, mac and cheese, and bqq sauce. It was a great combination - I can't stop thinking about it! I really enjoyed my first time here! I've passed by the restaurant for years but haven't made it in until recently. I found the staff to be very friendly and accommodating. Our waitress let us know from the very beginning that the kitchen we behind which I'd always appreciated. I decided to order shrimp tacos with sweet potato fries. The tacos were really messy but tasty. I think the only thing I would've changed was making the shrimp grilled instead of fried. The fries already had some sugar on them so no ketchup was needed! I usually order it with no bread and they'll give me something like a pulled pork mac and cheese platter with a portion worth $15. Tonight I got a half full cup of pulled pork mac and cheese with sweet potato fries that were so caked with cinnamon (couldn't really taste the sugar if there was any) that we just couldn't eat them, and still paid $15 for it. We came here with some friends last night because we heard good things about their "garbage plate" which is called the gastro plate. We also ordered a burger with a side of sweet potato fries. The gastro plate was AMAZING! I think it's the best recreation of the garbage plate in Rochester !!! Will come back for more! The burger was also good. My girlfriends and I were starving so we ordered the Wolf Bites. We all thought they were delicious. In particular, I loved the wolf dipping sauce--awesome. Not a great experience unfortunately. The staff were friendly but not terribly attentive. The pretzel fondue is similar to what other restaurants around town offer. A glass of presecco was ordered and arrived with no bubbles or carbonation at all, the waiter seemed incredulous, took it back and didn't bring another. But he did make sure to point out that he took it off the bill. I ordered the dorito ranch burger which was cooked well but when I asked if there was supposed to be ranch with it the waiter again looked puzzled and said yeah it's in the slaw, when we both looked back at the burger it was evident there was no slaw so he brought a side. Which was good fortune in the long run cause the slaw smelled off and of bad lettuce or cabbage with utterly no ranch flavor. The wedges are IPA battered so instantly better than the reg. Great paired with a beer during happy hour. - If you decide to opt for a salad, the Caesar is big like everything else here. It's topped with a giant sliced chicken breast. - They have a ton of beers on tap -- the list is separated by type of brew The staff is pretty inconsistent -- lots of waiting, especially when you arrive and visible confusion on which party to seat first. I just don't know about this place. Came in around 9:30 on a Saturday night because I noticed their kitchen was open past 10 and we didn't want to be those people who stroll into a restaurant minutes before closing. The place had plenty of tables available and about a third of the bar full. We asked if there were any booths available and we were seated at the last booth by the bathrooms. The booths were so comfortable with leather-esque upholstered backings. The drink menu was pretty standard, I was pleased to see they had a decent wine selection with glass pours around the $8 range. Our server came over to take a drink order and pour us water, but that pour was the only one we would see the remainder of our meal and we were both thirsty! Our server was nice, but not polished, our waters were empty two minutes after the first pour and she never came around to refill. I ordered a glass of the J. Lohr Cab, and when that was empty, I wasn't asked if I wanted another glass either. So it may appear like you can eat healthy here because they have a selection of salads, but if you read the descriptions, there is one and only one "healthy" salad on the entire menu. Everything else is loaded with cheese or bacon. I decided to go with the quinoa salad with chicken and asked for the dressing on the side. My sister got the fish tacos with a side order of macaroni and cheese. Food took about 15 minutes to come out. The fish tacos looked very unappealing but not as much as the macaroni and cheese which looked like dried up noodles with a hint of dried cheese. When my sister ordered the mac and cheese I gave her the, "Thanks a lot for ordering that, now I'm going to be tempted to have a bite" look and when the dish came out, I knew it wasn't worth the calories. The fish tacos were tiny, came with two, the presentation was sloppy and they didn't taste great at all. My quinoa salad was big and it came with quinoa which was entirely at the bottom of the bowl, a mix of spinach and arugula, fresh mozzarella, roasted red peppers, figs, grilled chicken that I had added and a balsamic glaze which I asked for on the side, THANK GOODNESS. I love all food except for olives, they're the one thing I can't stand and for whatever reason, my salad tasted like someone dumped olive juice on it. I don't know if the mixed greens weren't washed, if there had been some dirty martini spillage or what, but it was not good. The figs had such hardened sharp pieces that I found myself having to pick out the sharp ones and put them into a napkin. It was work, the entire salad was a job. The balsamic glaze had far too much vinegar so I put that to the side immediately. The quinoa at the bottom of the bowl was very cold and difficult to mix up because it was underneath all of the greens. The grilled chicken was very difficult to eat as it wasn't trimmed and therefore had to chew fatty pieces with every single bite. My sister and I both shook our heads and said, "Not good" in unison. When we got our $50 bill for a salad, fish tacos and one glass of wine I recognized how unbelievably overpriced the food was for the quality. We had a vegetarian in our group and have never had an issue eating on park ave but their vegetarian options are pretty sparse. Fortunately they had a breakfast bowl (I believe it was called, How was it?) that had no meat and tons of veggies. I ordered the sliders which were huge, they lacked a condiment and came apart when I took the bun on to add my own. The sliders were nothing special honestly, I could have made them at home. My sister ordered a breakfast bowl with sausage and pierogis in it, that was delicious. We also took advantage of the BOGO mimosas. It had a pretzel bun with nacho cheese and sauté onions with a mustard sauce. The fries were crisp and really good. The atmosphere was cool and wasn't to loud even with most of the restaurant full. They had a great selection of beer, we did a flight so we could try different types. It's been two years since I first review this place, and I think that they need to up their game a little bit. I have been here twice in the last month and my chief concern is the temperature of the food. If I order a burger and fries, which yes, they are delicious and gourmet,etc., they need to be warm. Like you took my food off of the grill, and put it on a plate, and then you bring it to me. Not let it sit on a counter hot plate for 5-10 minutes so that when I bite into things it is lukewarm. French fries should be so hot that you can't bite into them right away. The last few times I have been there (like 5pm on a Tuesday, not peak hours) the food should be hot. Stopped last evening for a quick dinner before seeing a show. We were seated promptly but our server was terrible! She kept "running by us" and gave us zero time and had absolutely zero personality! I understand being short staffed and the service industry but this was a simple case of "I hate being at work right now". We never were checked on during our meal, no offer for a refill of water or our soft drink, literally threw the check and the box we requested at us! I also ordered the Caprese grilled cheese that comes with chicken, I asked for no chicken but was still charged $17 for a couple pieces of cheese on white bread with some drizzle of balsamic. No basil. A Coke is $4! Completely over priced and terrible service, we won't be back! Also, other menu options are just as outrageously priced. read more

I came here kind of later in the evening so maybe that was the problem, then again if you are going to advertise as a open late restaurant than the hour really shouldn't matter. Anywho when we arrived there was a bouncer at the door checking ID's. I thought it was weird that they switched into straight up bar mode after ten since it didn't really seem like too crazy of a bar. That was fine though. What I was bothered by was the fact that the bouncer didn't tell us whether we needed to seat ourselves or whether we would be seated by a waitress. As someone who has worked in the restaurant industry for a long time I know how bad it can be if customers seat themselves at a table that no waitress is assigned to. So we stood there looking like idiots for around five minutes trying to figure out what to do, while the bouncer ignored us. Finally we ended up just grabbing a random table and flagging down a waitress. Everything I seemed to order on the menu they seemed to be out of. The server was nice about things and apologized for all the missing menu items. I initially really wanted to try the Mac and cheese paella but they didn't have that available. I ended up going with the Ostrich burger, which I was pretty excited for because you can't really find ostrich at many places. The sever asked how I wanted it cooked and I said medium. When the burger came out it was more than well done, and it was incredibly dry! Also the menu stated that the burger came with garlic aioli, but the burger I got definitely had no sauce on it. Which is a shame because maybe that would have helped with the dryness. Overall the taste of the burger was really bland and disappointing. The only redeeming thing in the meal was the bent arm fries which were pretty delicious. But really fries are pretty simple to make. The drink I ordered was pretty good. It was the Park Ave Punch and it had mint, cranberries, pomegranate juice, tangerine juice, cranberry juice, and Prosecco in it. Not very boozy but tasty. I love a good wine cocktail. Maybe I should give this place another shot. I do live right down the road. But for now I have to say that Blu Wolf Bistro was a pretty big let down. read more

I always skipped over this spot for brunch in favor of Jines across the street. I had no clue what a disservice I was doing my taste buds! We showed up at 10:30 on a Saturday and had no problems getting a quick table for two. Our server was extremely helpful when we asked for suggestions and quick to bring us our drinks. I wasn't aware of this going in, but they have buy one get one free bloody marys and mimosas on the weekend. Always a bonus! I went with Cap'n Crunch covered Texas French Toast and a side of home fries and it was incredible. The crunchiness of the cereal really complemented the softness of the bread. The homefries were perfectly crispy and not oily at all. Now I understand why I always see this place packed out, great spot! read more

I've been itching to go here and it was worth the wait!! First off, the ambience is really great, fairly well lit, and not too loud (during dinner hours). A few TVs at the bar, and a really solid selection of beers on tap. The food? To die for. If you're a burger person, this is the place to be! They even offer a wild game burger and a vegetarian burger. Their apps are also really tasty. I personally tried the pretzels and the Irish nachos, both were perfect for sharing with the group. The employees are very nice and attentive, barside and dining side. I've had multiple good experiences with the workers, which makes any trip there even better. read more

SUNDAY BRUNCH REVIEW! First off they have bogo deals on yummy brunch mimosas and bloody Mary's . Warning: the bloody Mary's have a crazy amount of horseradish in them so be prepared for a kick. Everyone in my group got their hangover brunch bowls. I happened to choose the BBQ brunch bowl which included BBQ blackened, crispy chicken, macaroni salad, sweet potatoes fries and was topped with eggs over easy. Wish there was a little more bbq sauce but it was great regardless. I thought their brunch menu had a good amount of options but was disappointed to find there was no 'Benedict' type option which is usually my go to. Five stars for the brunch experience. The menu is amazing and I love the idea of breakfast bowls! Those things are massive. I wasn't hungry enough for one though, so I ordered the breakfast arancini. I love this place! I have been numerous times for lunch during work. I always order the soup and salad combo. I love that they let you choose one of their salads off the menu versus just a house salad. I have also been here for brunch and it was fantastic! I had the chimichanga and would get it time and time again. Everyone else I was with had the bowls which were all yummy too. I recommend this place! read more

The food is decent but you can tell it died on the line while waiting to be brought to the table, the wait is incredibly long and the service is so subpar. The young hostess I've seen multiple times there is rude and doing her makeup at the hostess stand half the time. I wanted to like this place but the staff simply sucks. read more
