We heard a lot of great things about their burgers so I'll start there. My husband had the Irish Nacho Burger. Rare. He gave it a 9 out of 10. He couldn't stop raving about the quality of the meat. Was in man heaven. His side of bacon & garlic mashed potatoes was disappointing. I tried a bit and it was a lumpy, cold garlic mess. Not good. My son had the Cardiac. Med rare. Again, a 9 out of 10. He complemented the balance of heat with the cheese. Loved. I ordered the Park Ave. WELL DONE. It arrived med rare and bloody. I sent it back and by the time it came the guys were finished. Service was quick but they were quicker! By the time I got home my burger was still slightly warm but the driest thing I have ever tried to choke down. I suspect they attempted to continue cooking the same burger that had sat on the table for 15 minutes. A manager did apologize for the mistake and took my burger off the bill. So at least I didn't have to pay for not having dinner. We all agreed the fries were terrific. The prices were moderate. Our server was somewhat rushed but very professional & pleasant. There was no wait although they were busy and they accommodated our request for a booth. We parked on Berkeley, between other parked cars at 7pm on a Tues. night. We were shocked to find a $50 ticket on our window due to breaking an "alternate parking" rule/law (?) that was not posted (that we saw anyway). Will be terrified to park if/when we return! I finally had the chance to go to Blu Wolf. It did not disappoint. They have some of the best burgers I've ever had. I had the Mac Daddy burger, which was insane. It was huge, I had to do a Guy Fieri bite. The other menu items that were ordered by my family were the park ave burger, which looked really damn good. My father had the wings with the angry orchard cider sauce which was amazing. My mother had the Royal with cheese, and along with the kick ass name, she said it was awesome. My only complaint was the wild game burger, which I was really excited to try, until I found out what they do for it. My brother ordered it, and that night it was a rabbit burger. But the downside is that they serve it plain with LTO and a Dijon mustard sauce, no matter what the wild game was. I guess i was hoping for something a little more creative for this burger, maybe something custom made to match the meat that was featured. But over all I would definitely go back. The service was solid, and the atmosphere was awesome. And while the burgers and menu is fairly pricey, it was definitely worth every penny with how good the food was. read more

They have one of the best upgraded and expensive "plates" in Greater Rochester; second place in my opinion. The gastro plate has excellent mac and cheese, plus some huge wacky cut potatoes, extra cheese sauce, and a prefect thick burger on top. Other places are cheaper for their plate, and that works, but sometimes you gotta go for it and have a REALLY GOOD PLATE. A bunch of us go there often because it's clean, and busy, the recipes are good, and the kitchen doesn't screw up. Look closely at all the burger choices and get something you can't get elsewhere. The sliders are a great value. I love all the different beers on tap. Sometimes, I'm forced to go because a special someone NEEDS a vanilla milkshake that is like no other. We recently went to Blu Wolf at the recommendation of friends when in Rochester. We're beer lovers, so the beer menu was attractive to us and it was really nice that we were able to get flights and try some different local beers. they had some really nice local options. The food, while good, all felt like a bit much. The plates/portions were huge. The burgers were insane and some included pulled pork, fried eggs, etc. It sounds good, but everyone's plate just had so much food that it felt like a waste. My meal was ok, but not memorable. Some of the salads coming out of the kitchen looked very good, so that's probably what I'd try if I came back. read more

I'm not from around here, but two of my friends and I had Sunday brunch. The food was delicious, but what stood out was the great service from our waitress Amanda and the other staff. One of the others (not sure if he was a bus boy or waiter) noticed we didn't have water yet, so he brought them out - Amanda was getting our drinks (the brunch punch whose name I can't remember - very good). I got the Blu Wolf Breakfast - pancake with duck bacon (yes, duck bacon - it's awesome), home fries (not a ton of them, but they were good and just the right amount for me) and three poached eggs. I also had to try the dirty spoon - which is fried pastry with a bit of cannoli filling and berries on top - they were great. Had a nice time sitting outside, even in October. My experience was awful, from the start. We order the fish bowl which a 25.00 dollar waste. The bartender forgot to add the liquor, several customers complained that this drink tasted like pure flavor an water. You could taste know alcohol at all. Next we place a food order, shrimp.salaf was disgusting you know who salad taste when it's been sitting too long. That is exactly how the spring mix in my salad taste awful. Very disappointed, undercooked turkey burger and paper in my food. When I called the restaurant back up I was told the manager was too busy and that I could either come back for more food or call for a refund the following day. I took the second option, upon calling the following day I was told once again that the owner had just stepped out and would return my call immediately. Hours pass, I call again speaking with someone else this time, I am told the manager is not in but I could talk to someone who was " like a manager" but to wait and call back in 15 minutes. I call back numerous times with no answer. Finally this morning I get in contact with the manager who said that none of his staff had passed on my message. I went there around midnight on a Thursday. It was slow, not many customers. I went there with a friend for late night bite. I was glad that there was some restaurant in rochester open that late and it was not either fast food or garbage plate. I had a Bloody Mary burger with fries. The fries were super. They were in spiral shape, that was not usual. It was cut just good enough, not too thin or too thick. The burger was ok. it was special, cuz they put Blu Wolf initial on every single bun. And you can taste the fresh. I was kinda disappointed with its bloody mary seasoning. There was only a tiny hint of bloody mary flavor. Good thing was that they put lettuce and tomato on the side instead of on top of the patty. So you can choose if you want to put them on burger yourself. With the food, I would probably give three and a half stars, but I was glad to see that they have a lot of wine options. Unfortunately, my favorite Grenache Syrah was out of stock. So I had San Giovese. The taste was similar to Syrah, not too dry or too sweet. The acid degree was mild. I had Grenache Syrah at Good Luck later that night. That was from Australia. The acid degree was higher than what I usually drink. Most of Syrah I drank was from France, and most from Rhone Valley, France. I would like to see more restaurants in Rochester open late like Blu Wolf. if not every day, from Thursday to Saturday would be nice. People like me who are always hungry at midnight and not a big fan of garbage plates would love to visit restaurants like Blu Wolf at midnight lol. read more

walking in a looked a little different from the outside for some reason. there is a lot of seating, many booths which were somewhat comfortable. the back of the booth seemed to feel as though it was pushing me forward. the lightening was good, but i think it gets darker as the night goes on. the bar is nice with a cool blue lighting effect on the back wall. the menu was good and different. hard to choose and almost felt like i was looking for more choices. there were enough burger choices, but i felt nervous to pick the other things on the menu as it wasnt much to my preference. the drink i got was good, but not strong enough. i forget the name but the picture does it justice i believe. i will get a different drink next time i go. there are beers and cocktails, but i believe there are other fancy drinks that aren't too expensive. read more

We've been coming to this spot for about a year now, and it's either really good or really disappointing which is why I'm giving 3 stars. My spouse always orders the same sandwich without tomatoes and about half the time they put tomatoes on it which to me is pretty annoying considering how often it happens. We went today for brunch and got an outdoor table within 20 minutes. The waitress brought out water for our pups without us having to ask and another worker brought out bacon for them which was a lovely touch. From bowls to platters, the menu was solid. Drinks were also not something to be desired but good enough to get a second. Mimosa and bloody Mary's were tasty. Good garnish and not too strong to over power the taste of the drink. Meals were filling and hearty. Eggs were fluffy and toast was light and buttery. Solid on the food! Overall, as a breakfast restaurant, I give this park ave main stay, a 6 out of 10. Service was a bit lagging but the food was very good and almost worth the negatives in other areas. I had a The Green Thumb, a quinoa burger with lettuce, tomatoes, brie, avocado, and sautéed peppers and onions on a brioche bun with a side of fries. Goddamn. I can't stop thinking about it. My favorite spot in Park Ave! I've enjoyed brunches and dinners here and even hosted my going away party here. They have a great BOGO drink special for brunch and a really good captain crunch French toast sandwich with egg and sausage. I always get the blu wolf bites as an app and park ave burger with bent fries for dinner. But I would say the main attraction here is the blu bowl!! So huge and so worth it, but beware because it can become a community bowl if you don't watch your straw. I made this mistake at my going away party here which was THE BEST party ever! I was given an out of date beer menu. I order an iced tea instead. We each ordered a burger. When the food was brought to the table the fries were only warm. Not hot. It took a while for her to come back and ask how everything was. I mentioned the issue with the fries. She did bring hot fries. The burger was okay. I've had better. I absolutely loved my experience today. The venue is beautiful inside. Our server was excellent, and our food was amazing! We shared their spinach arancini appetizer and it was an amalgamation of flavors. Rice, spinach, artichoke, vodka sauce, basil, and cheese were perfectly blended like a beautiful symphony. This is the place you go when you want to over indulge. They have great atmosphere and great variety (yes mostly cheesy fried goodness) and reasonable prices. I have dined here many times both brunch and dinner and have been equally satisfied every time. I usually opt for one of their fried appetizers, burger and a craft brew or glass of wine and it hasn't done me wrong. My husband and I stopped in for a late lunch around 3pm on a Sunday. We had to wait 20 minutes for a table no biggie. Unfortunately the wait time to get any service and food after was horrible. We left after 5pm. Ordered the margarita pizza which was disgusting. Please take off the nasty huge slices of tomato that just turn slimy, the pizza is already caked with tomato sauce. Ordered the Cajun chicken and shrimp pasta and to my surprise shrimp had the tails still on them. So now in a hot Cajun cream sauce you have to pinch it off with your fingers and burn yourself or just figure out where to bite it and find somewhere on the table to lay your shells...gross. When we looked at the menu there were so many unique twists on favorite things that it was hard to choose. So we decided to share so we could try both the burger and some others too. Started with a sparkling glass of blood orange prosecco (but at $9 for a small glass it am not have been a good value.) The sodas were in nice pint glasses and the water was left on the table in a cobalt blue bottle. The waitress was very friendly and attentive (but note it wasn't busy at 2pm. Not sure how dinner time or later might be.) We were SO happy we ordered a burger. It was fabulous. Chose the "Royale With Cheese". It was a burger that John Travolta and Samuel L. Jackson would be proud of. Had it Medium Rare and it was cooked perfectly with a great sweet and tangy honey Sriracha sauce on a brioche bun branded with their initials. The fries were "the best I've ever had" said my daughter. They were crispy and had just the right thickness; they were shaped as if they had just been peeled. Speaking of thick, the napkins were so luxe that we thought they were linen! Nice touch especially for a burger that can get a little messy. We ordered the Sloppy Joe Mac & Cheese for my daughter. They had a great value for a kids meal but she wanted to try something new. The flavor was very unique and good. She ate about half. I wouldn't order it though for less adventurous eaters. The Blackened Mahi Po a Boy sandwich was disappointingly dry (make sure to order extra honey Sriracha mayo.) We didn't realize until after we left that it didn't seem blackened whatsoever that probably would have helped too. Glad we ordered at least one burger. Ended the meal struggling whether to choose the Caramel Pretzel milkshake or the Maple Bacon. Decided to go for the more unique flavor. It was truly really good with more crispy bacon pieces than expected, especially at the bottom of the glass --but I think I would have preferred the Caramel Pretzel. There were definitely things I liked about this place. Service was very friendly from the moment we walked up throughout the entire meal. That always makes a difference in my book so well done. The location is fantastic. It was a beautiful afternoon to sit outside. Our meal came out fairly quickly, and overall it was decent. The reason it's not five stars for me is because the quality of the beef was just OK. When getting a burger out and about, I know I take my chances, however, at $18 a burger I was really expecting the first bite to be "oh my goodness! ". There wasn't really a ton of flavor overall. I buy a ton of grass fed, grass finished beef so maybe I'm just spoiled. If I was the owner, I would upgrade the beef even by just a little bit, as there are a lot of things going for this location. The sweet fries were really nice too! My son seem to enjoy his waffle burger, so again, maybe I'm just being a little selective. Upgrade just a bit and we will be back! The first bite of this Mac-mess tasted like cardboard then after became very bland. My friend ordered the chicken caprese sandwich with a side of Irish nachos. His meal came out hot and both were both delicious. Our waitress (crystal) was very friendly and helpful with suggestions. The food did come out promptly which makes me wonder why my meal was chilly. Thoroughly enjoyed our date night! It was early on a Friday night and busy, but not suffocatingly so. We started with a beverage at the bar and were greeted by the manager, Kevin. Sometimes in busy places the servers can be smothering because they want to turn over the tables quicker, but this was so not the case at Blu Wolf. Erica picked up that it was my first visit and she was suggestive and patient with us as we mulled over the menu. Checked out Yelp reviews first for some food selection pointers. Wolf bites were a big Yelp recommendation so we started with them. They were hot, crispy, and yummy! They were kinda like fried ground beef balls with a nicely paired tangy sauce. The boyfriend destroyed them! We decided to split burgers since the reviews also raved about the burgers. I went with the pub burger and he got the pork rodeo burger. I kinda wished I didn't offer to split mine because I liked mine wayyy more haha but they were both big delicious burgers, cooked perfectly pink to our liking. The elbow fries were also really good, nice and crispy. If I HAD to make one suggestion, I would suggest adding extra sauce or a side of the sauce on the burger because they were so big, complex, and delicious that they needed just a bit more sauce. But Erica checked on us, made sure we had what we needed, didn't let our drinks empty (pet peeve,) and just ensured a great experience. There was a young lady bussing that never let an empty plate sit for long and she was really pleasant too. I was really impressed with the staff overall. It is busy so it is kinda loud, but I kinda liked that! I like a nice lively place to hang out and unwind. I The decor was really nice, trendy but casual. I can't wait to go back and try more of the foods!! I never felt as if the service was lacking as some reviews suggest, we really enjoyed the food, and we look forward to returning soon!!
