Buyer Beware...Be sure to check your ticket! I ordered a shrimp taco salad and was charged $13.99. When I looked at the ticket, the server charged me for a fajita taco salad. Mind you, my taco salad only had lettuce, sour cream, refried beans, cheese, and a handful of shrimp. When I questioned our server, she said they don't have shrimp taco salad, so she charged me for a fajita taco salad, because ALLEGEDLY it's the same price . I have had nothing but great experiences with Blue Agave. Their service is fast, food is delicious, especially their tacos. Best tacos I've ever had. Queso is great too. I came from California on vacation and they have stuff here that isn't easy to find in San Jose. There cheese dip they offer is delicious you can tell they use a high quality cheese, also their fish tacos are AMAZING. It's hard for me to find battered fish tacos where I'm from they usually just have basic fish tacos that aren't flavorful but these ones are loaded with flavor. If you're like me and enjoy delicious alcoholic beverages I would go with a frozen mango Margarita or a michelada both are FANTASTIC. The food was great, however, if you want to get guacamole dip & the server ask if you want smooth or chunky, known now the chunky is what they call mexican guacamole& is $5.45 vs the guacamole dip $3.95. Then she brought the bill we saw the up change& she didn't want to give us the guacamole dip price& even the manager that came over was argumentative with us but finally after we went over the fact that we had ordered the guacamole dip not the Mexican guacamole she fixed it. The salsa tasted like tomato sauce out of a can. I ordered the shrimp tacos. Instead of whole shrimp, I got bits and pieces floating in some kind of orange sauce, and nothing else in the tacos. I use to love this place....but now I'm disappointed. A few weeks ago I came in with my sister and the chips were hard and old tasting. When I received my food I was greeted with a side of hair on my food. The restaurant it's self is cute when decorated for holiday, however Blue Agave has been pretty empty recently. My family has been going there for more than 5 years. Tonight will be our last time. Our dinner comes out and one of the dishes is wrong so we tell the server. He said that he would have it fixed. We have finished eating and it's still not brought to the table. We ask our server about the entree and he laughs and says he will check on it. My father now gets up and ask the manager about it. She says it would be right out. Finally it comes and we get it Togo. They didn't even discount the meal. Then as we are leaving our sever opens the door for us and laughs again! I really love the food. I just tried the California Burrito the last time I was there and it was incredibly good. My only complaint has nothing to do with the food. It is the smell of the restaurant. Whatever the cleaning solution is that they clean the tables and restaurant with is REALLY strong. That is my only reason for 4 stars. The food gets five. read more

I was extremely disappointed when my food arrived cold. After politely making my server aware of this, my plate was taken away and she was not the least bit apologetic. Love this place. The food is good... and when they are not too busy... the staff is very attentive, but when they are, service might suffer just a tad. Additionally, while the atmosphere is cool, the acoustics can be overpowering, but this is clearly more a function of the warehouse like building than the restaurant. Certainly an above average 4.5 star for food, 4 star for service and 3.5 stars for the dysfunction of the building.... WORTH THE VISIT!!! read more

My husband and I have only been here twice. The first time was awesome, food was great, and so were the drinks. I have been a regular at this restaurant for over five years. I have never had an issue until today. I got the fajitas and there was a hair in my refried beans. I told the waiter and he took the food away. When I got the check I was still charged for the full price of the fajitas. I asked to speak to the manager who came out and was very confrontational and basically told me that hair and bugs in the food happens on the patio all the time. He also told me the waitress that brought it out didn't see any hair (insinuating that I was lying). He finally took a few dollars off but charged me for some of the price of the fajitas. I was so upset that he basically dismissed my concern and was rude that I asked if I could speak or call the owner of the store; which he aggressively told me he was. I will never go back to this restaurant and they lost a customer over a $10 plate. Such poor customer service, it's sad. My husband and I eat here quite a bit, the food in never ever disappointing and always hits the spot. The texas most wanted is ribeye and shrimp, that is my personal favorite, it comes with 2 sides I get rice and fries.( sooooo much food) The steak is beautifully grilled along with the juciest shrimp everytime... the staff are very friendly, efficient and very very accomidating. Every time we go, they remember us, I love that. We have never waited too long for for any meal and always look forward to our next visit. This place won't be open much longer I'm sure. I guess a one star is fair since our bottled beers were in fact cold. However, we have visited this restaurant several times over the past couple of years, mostly because they have outside dining and it's very close to our home. There is absolutely nothing outstanding about any of their food or drinks, it was simply convenient for a cold beer and an average bite outside. Recently, their outside dining has not been open, for who knows what reason, so, we usually leave since the food alone is less than exciting. What prompted this review was our most recent, and obviously last, visit to this shit hole. We went inside on a lovely warm evening and of course outside dining was closed. We informed our "waiter" that we weren't going to eat, just have a couple of beers. He seated us with an annoyed look, took our order and left. We asked if we could have some chips and salsa, and offered to pay for them. He did not even acknowledge this request, instead, he brought our drinks with a look of sheer annoyance on his face. He never returned to our table. He instead went and sat at a table with the other staff and did who knows what. Please, for the love of God, do not waste any time or money here because you will be disappointed. read more

This used to be our favourite Mexican place to eat ......until today. 3 years every Friday evening like clockwork, rarely skipping one. Wife loved it , Kids loved it. ..even when the service was so-so we were still cool...afterall anybody can have an off day. ..Then today happens....We got there early.. (Son's Birthday and he wanted to go to ..where else?Blue Agave)..get in early before the crowd and get out early. Started going south when the food came cold.. Ok so we (2 adults)decided not to eat.( i dont trust sending back food to the kitchen anywhere!) A few more drinks later we asked for the check, which still had one of the meals we didnt eat.. so we asked for it to be taken off the ticket. Man/Manager comes over..VERY RUDE..acted as though we were trying not to pay for the food....no just what we didn't have! We paid and left..how about this dude runs after us AFTER we left the Restaurant.,getting a bit loud about us not leaving a tip.... No, today's service didn't deserve a tip!! . because of HIS behaviour. He stated his waitress did not mention our initial concerns and the issue our fault. Even after we told him we love this restaurant and were regular patrons he said "so what they all say that" We spend an average $80 plus tips almost every Friday for 3+ years!! I could be wrong, but don't fajitas come on an iron skillet and not a plate? It's one reason I order them...they stay hot while I eat. The 4 pieces of chicken and 5 pieces of (very tough) streak was cold within minutes of arriving. Very bland food,,, seriously, hardly any flavor. And the service...just average, at best. ..waited forever for the ck, then eternity to pick up payment. The margarita was ok though. I'll stick with my tried and true mexican restaurant. This is a family owned business, pleasant staff, the food is out of this world. My waitress Jessica took very good care of me tonight, She kept my drink topped off, checked back with me a number of time's to make sure everything was ok. Other staff checked up on me, one looked like Jessica's older sister, turned out to be her mother. She told me about the owner and who all worked there. This restaurant used to be my favorite Mexican restaurant until a few days ago. On 6/16/20 my friends and I decided to have dinner there since it has been about 6 months since we were there. I'm not sure what happened during those 6 months, but this restaurant has really gone downhill, both in service and quality of food. I ordered a combination plate that had an enchilada, taco, and a chile relleno. I received an enchilada, taco, and a tostada. I guess their cook doesn't know the difference between a tostada and a chile relleno. It took an extremely long time to get our food even though there were very few customers in the restaurant. When I complained about the food being wrong they brought me the chile relleno, but it tasted so bad I couldn't eat it. My friend ordered the Cochinita Pibil. This dish was so spicy hot and totally different that what my friend had ordered just 6 months ago. My friend couldn't eat it so we complained again to the manager since it was really bad. Manager did bring my friend a different entree, but since they took so long to bring her food my friend had to have it to go. To top it off, since we were not impressed with their food or their service I decided to leave only a 10% tip. When I checked my credit card statement I saw that this restaurant added an extra $1.80 to the waiter's tip. I complained to the credit card company and they advised me that no company can change the amount on my receipt after I've signed it. I will be visiting the restaurant and letting the manager know what I think of their practice to add whatever they want to the credit card charges. I strongly recommend people think twice about coming to this restaurant. I know I certainly will not be coming back. read more

This is more like an Americanized Mexican restaurant, so it is a little more expensive than an average Mexican restaurant. I have been twice and both meals tasted a bit off.
