A co-worker and I decided to grab lunch and were in the mood for someone less on the healthy side. She recommended Blue Ash Chili. The atmosphere reminded me of Happy Days (yes, the TV show that I used to watch reruns of as a kid). It was fun, but the kind of place you expect your shoes to stick to the floor. As other folks have mentioned, they offer a 6 way with jalapenos and it is very good (and I'm not even a huge chili fan)! The service was good even though the place was packed. First time visiting here and the food did not disappoint. It definitely has its own flavor this differs slightly from other Cincinnati chili. The food was served quickly, nice and hot, and the quality is right where you'd expect it. Service was what kept this from being 5 star. Beyond bringing out our food, we were pretty much ignored by wait staff - it was never quite clear who our wait person was. I just don't see 4 stars Yelpers. I have always wanted to try Blue Ash Chili and finally had the chance. Glad I got that out of my system. Double decker fell apart in my hands with "bacon bits" and a few chucks of chicken. Love Skyline but my cup of Chili was not very good here. The floor was greasy, the place was dirty, and had a funny smell; like old dirty grease. Add a diet coke and the bill was $15.22 without tip. I understand the whole Guy Fierri thing but this place needs to be investigated for health concerns. I won't be back. read more

My brother-in-law suggested we meet he and his wife here Thursday evening after seeing it featured on "Diners, Dives and Drive-ins." This definitely qualifies as a "dive!" I was a little encouraged when we arrived because the place was packed on a Thursday night. I was also discouraged because the placed looked filthy. There were 6 of us and we all ordered something different so I sampled all of the "Skyline" impersonators (chili dog, spaghetti (all ways), chili, etc.). BAD IMPERSONATIONS!!! VERY BAD! I ordered the pulled pork sandwich on a pretzel bun. The bun was a nice alternative but not as good as I have purchased at Dorothy Lane market. The pork was horrible and did not taste like pork at all. Barbecue sauce was bland and unrecognizable as barbecue sauce. Even adding hot sauce did not help. I will say the cole slaw served with the sandwich was very good. My husband had a burger and he determined it was just "average." Long story short, not worth a return trip. When given a choice, it will always be "Skyline Time" for me. read more

Walking in this little restaurant there is a homey feeling to get and the smell of good food. i myself am a vegetarian and stuck to grilled cheese and pie. i got the chocolate pie, it was divine, and the slice was huge! for the rest of my family they were blown away by the size of their sandwiches no one could finish. This is one of my favorite places to eat. I have tried several items that are on the menu. The food is great! I like it better than skyline or gold star. The double decker sandwich menu is fantastic! Blue Ash Chili is a dingy little hole in the wall but they offer good food with very generous portions at a great price. Their chili is meaty and has a nice balance of spice and sweetness to it. Their deli sandwiches are little better then pre-packaged deli meant you could buy at Kroger but they're absolutely massive and priced VERY well.(don't even think about a double decker unless you've cleared your afternoon schedle and plan on slipping into a food coma afterwards). As far as side dishes go, i've only had their cheese fries and macaroni and cheese. Both were adequate but, again, priced so well that if you're looking for decent food at a good price it's a good option. Ordering carry-out at lunchtime can be a bit harrowing but it's worth navigating their treacherous parking lot and entrance area. The only thing that I really don't like is that since Guy Fieri did a spotlight of BAC on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives, his face is now all over everything from the menus to the walls. read more

Blue Ash Chili is amazing. Their chili is much better than skyline, their double-decker sandwiches are massive, they even have gyros and serve breakfast all day (except lunch hours). The waitresses are about the most friendly around. All of this and the prices are still reasonable. Sure, it's a little higher than McDonald's or something, but you have to expect to pay a little more for quality. read more

Ah Blue Ash Chili! What a place! I've been coming here for years. This is, I believe, the forth owners now (by far the kindness of them all) This place is not The Precinct. Nothing fancy nor do I wan't it to be. This is straight forward sling-a-ding grub kinda place, my favorite by far. When you eat here you know you ate. No-one leaves hungry ever!!! The guy manager (Mark I think) told me once they go through a 1000 togo boxes a week. That's alota take home food. You get a bang for your buck at this joint. It's a family place, they call you by name after a few visits. They sing and dance and make fun of some people. It's a cross between Mels diner and Ed Bedevicks in Chicago. To Lisa G. Thank god it's not Skyline or I would Die!! To the guy who waited 28 minutes for a 4-way... if the cook put his finger in it, why would you buy it? Blue Ash Chili! Always a favorite of my family's! We visited last evening and as always~ had a great meal and service! One thing I noticed with Blue Ash Chili is they do Team Serving! I think this is GREAT! We are always greeted before the door closes behind us~ seated right away, as long as they aren't packed and quickly acknowledged by a waiter/waitress, I have never had to ask for a refill on my drink, as the entire staff is attentive to every table~ we have also noticed that at both locations- the manager on staff is always involved with their staff and helping out~ I asked who our manager was last evening and it was Alison~ we watched her interact with the customers and she was a great positive influence on her staff~ I could tell they all had great respect for her and all of them worked well as a TEAM. We're new to the area and wanted to see what all the Cincinnati chili hype was all about. Not only was the chili amazing, but the service and atmosphere were a treat too! Everyone has a smile on their face and makes you feel like they've know you for years. There is only one competent waitress at this location. If you aren't one of the lucky few who will get this waitress (hat usually), stand up and leave. She is the only one interested in working, and giving good attentive service. Insuring the return customer not making them regret the decision, I feel sorry she has to share her tips.. The food is also extraordinarily inconsistent, the chili though a good chili, will be room temperature or boiling hot. I ordered a grilled cheese as well, i couldn't believe that they sent it out to me! The bread was lathered in butter uncooked not grilled in the slightest, soggy. I have given this place many chances and have been unimpressed with every visit. I no longer will be wasting my money at this establishment. Soooooooo, did you know that Cincinnati chili is an acquired taste? People outside of Cincinnati who were not reared to eat sweet, cinnamony, runny chili do not understand the undying love to this specific regional delicacy. That being said, I am obsessed with this place. I am often reticent to recommend it to non-natives as it took me at least 3 attempts to fully appreciate its contribution to foodie canon. I suspect the quality which has swayed me most is the chunkiness of the chili here. It is not nearly as runny as Skyline and has a stronger flavor. My favorite thing to order: 3 chili cheese coneys, extra juicy and a side of cole slaw. The cole slaw here is OUTSTANDING. Husband really likes the 6 way (breaded jalapeno poppers sprinkled on top a 5-way). My kids insist on an order of chili cheese fries when we come. Finally, the service is outstanding, friendly and quick. Our family of five can easily be in and out in 45 minutes with food served made-to-order and piping hot. read more

I used to go to Blue Ash chili often as a kid but only a couple of times recently and the one thing that has remained constant are the large proportions of food (the corn beef double decker i got (with fries), I was unable to finish) and atmosphere. The waiter was pleasant and to the point. He did his job well checking on our table but not to overbearing or disappearing. I personally think that there chili is better than skyline. Was at Skyline about a month ago and to me it was to runny and the service there was more about hurry up and get out as opposed to sitting down and enjoying a meal. No different than other restaurants it can be loud but then again its not meant to be a formal affair, your there to eat chili, get messy, take on the "No Freaking Way Challenge" and enjoy yourself. So overall I would recommend based upon the chili (personally favor over skyline) and the sandwiches which both can be served made to order. read more

My daughter and I visited the restaurant last year just out of curiosity. We liked it so much, that when we came back to town with our entire family to take in a Cincinnati Reds game, we made the trip to the other side of town to visit BAC. The family was just as impressed as we were. The menu has a good variety of things on it, that we couldn't hardly decide what to eat. The things that were covered was 5 and 6 way Chili- which was great, Philly Cheese Steak- outrageously big and tasty, Onion rings- thick and delicious, and the Coneys- great, The staff was friendly and we enjoyed it. The restaurant is small, but we felt comfy. The family is planning to return soon. I read some of the other reviews, sounds like some people doesn't know what Cincinnati Chili is. You might want to do a little research before you order it. Cincinnati Chili has it's own texture and taste, know what you are kinda ordering. If not sure, so you won't be disappointed, order one of their giant sandwiches, amazing. read more
