This Cincinnati staple is a must during the summer months. It tends to be a place I always forget about but once there, I wish I came more often. Today's order included their classic chili and cheese coney, single cheeseburger and a side of cheese fries. I have to say the coney was such a refreshing break from the local standard of Skyline or Gold Star. There's something about the classic coney that just hits different. It was absolutely delicious! My daughter liked her cheeseburger and was pretty happy that it beat her McDonald's standards lol. Next time I'm pretty sure she will bump up to the double. I loved the flavor of the fries. Not quite sure what they used to season them outside of salt but they were really good and the cheese was melted but not melted to death. The service was super fast despite how busy they were. I'm pretty sure it took less than 5 minutes for our name to be called and boom, we were ready to go. The outside seating area was a nice break from the heat, under the cover of the trees. Was in town for an event (4.26.25) and a quick Yelp search told me the Root Beer Stand was close to my hotel. So I had to check it out, especially since I frequent an old school hot dog stand at home that I love. This place is cute. Plenty of parking. You go in and order at a window. They don't have diet root beer, but I really like homemade root beer and wanted to try it, so I got a small regular. I ordered a foot long hot dog and chili cheese fries. I got everything to go. (My hotel was less than 10 min away). I also got a Root Beer Stand sticker for $2. The total for all came to just under $15. The root beer was good, but too sweet for me since I'm normally a diet drinker. Normal soda drinkers should like it. The foot long hot dog was indeed a biggie. Not thick, but definitely the length of two regular hot dogs. The chili cheese fries were still hot back at my hotel. The cheese was melted but it was shredded cheese. I think I was picturing more liquid cheese on them. And the chili was a little sparse and also thick .. or maybe just soaked into my fries? We came on closing weekend and it was popular with everyone getting their last day in. It felt like a fall day but it was warm enough to eat outside. We always enjoy the root beer and my cheeseburger was yummy. My partner ordered a coney and the chili recipe definitely tastes different than what he's used to. It had been many years since we had been to the Root Beer Stand so it was high time to come back. It had grown a fair amount since our last visit which was great to see. The place was really busy but they really are streamlined well and there was not a long wait time. There is a bit of indoor seating but a vast majority of the seating is at picnic tables outside around the area. Everything looked great all around the grounds although you must remember you are outside and there are a fair amount of bees around so beware of that. I went here with my friend who lives in Ohio. The food was delicious, warm, and fresh. The worker who was at the counter, Keila, was nice, had a good attitude, and gave me suggestions on her favorites and most popular foods there. The menu is all about classic diner options like burgers, sandwiches, hot dogs, milkshakes, fries, and of course their house-made root beer. They also have a limited beer and hard seltzer menu. Everything on their menu is nicely priced too. After checking out the menu for a bit, I went with a cheeseburger (topped with lettuce, tomato, pickles, and onions), a side of fries, and a root beer. One of my coworkers did the same, and my other coworkers opted for a footlong chili cheese dog instead of a cheeseburger. Even though they were very busy, both with dine-ins and carryout, we didn't wait very long at all before everything was ready. Their root beer was some of the best I've had in a while and I do like some good root beer. My burger and fries were really good too. The service was excellent and our server was very friendly and attentive. Bummer that this place is only open seasonally because I think it'd be great to stop by here when it cools down in October. I visited here since it was near a client's location I was visiting while in the Cincinnati area. I came around 11am when a lot of workers in the nearby area come to eat. Boy I didn't think it would be this crowded, but it is. Traffic jam in the parking lot since there didn't seem to be many other options for lunch in the immediate area. I had no problem finding a spot up front since I arrived before most of the lunch rush, but by the time I was leaving it was difficult just to back out due to cars waiting for spots. They seem to have a fairly good system for dine in (outdoor) customers and to-go customers with a few different sitting areas. The rear of the property is a kids area with grass and playground equipment. I only came for the root beer and sadly this was one of the sweetest ones I've ever had, out of about 200 varieties. So maybe it's a regional thing or just the way this place makes them, but its hard to drink in my opinion. Otherwise, it's a pretty historic place and a must visit if you're in the area. read more

It looks like they have definitely upgraded it from the shack i remember it being to a full blown diner. We got it to go through the side window which was fast. Such a fun place to eat!! The weather was a perfect spring day today so I brought my dog and ate outside! There is a fantastic picnic area and my dog played with the kids on the playground! I love the feel of this place, with its history and vintage signs (that old fashioned lettering!!!). I love the bright, Home-Depot orange of its roof - or is it more of a Howard Johnson orange? Either way, you really can't miss the place. It just feels like a throw-back, a vacation-y place, a cool spot to bring the kids ---they have games at the bar, and a play-ground in back next to shady picnic tables. The food isn't spectacular. What a cute old school burger bar! Found this on Cincysavers so decided to try it out. They have a nice outdoor patio and picnic table area to bring friends and the family. They also do offer pickup ordering. I was excited to try the famous root beer float. I did a classic with root beer and vanilla ice cream and it really hit the spot. I also wanted to try both the chili dog and cheeseburger so I decided to get both and save the burger for later and eat the chili dog. I did just chilli to try to get the flavor of the chili and because I decided to order cheese fries and didn't want to have so much cheese on everything. The chili is definitely on the "sweeter" side and is liquify like skyline chili, not thick chili. It was alright since the hot dog is just boiled and not grilled. I added some of the cheese fries inside it for half of it ti add some crunch to it. The fries are delicious! They are the crispy thicker fries and with cheese they were perfect. I wish they had some spicy food options. I do want to come back and try the pizza burger which is a burger that has pizza sauce and I believe mozzarella cheese. It would be even better if it had pepperoni or bacon and onions as well but it's something I want to come try as I've never had it! I also decided to grab 2 of the Sonders Root Beer float ale beers to try later. I will have to add to the review once I try the beer and burger. I think this is a great place to hang out in a lazy Sunday and enjoy the gorgeous summer says. We plan to come back before summer ends. Tucked in a business/warehouse area, this place looks like a 50s drive up diner. While indoor seating is currently removed, there are plenty of tables in the back lot as well as playground equipment to entertain the kids. Been going there for 60 years and I know how it was and how it is today. Root Beer is always good as it has been. Creamy and no bite which is what it always has been and thats fine. But PLEASE STOP Staging the popcorn. When it isn't made fresh to order like it was it gets chewy. I can get chewy popcorn at Krogers. We got there at 4:30 and ate inside. The popcorn was made before noon I expect and tasted like it. Fries are fairly new there and I try them every year and yes they are always staged and nasty. you can do better. The food is not like it used to be. Part of what made the root beer taste good was the chilled mug. The root beer taste was harsh and was warm. It's not the same in a styrofoam cup. The foot long bun wasn't warm, steamed or soft. The chili tasted stale. Expanding the inside was nice; but if the food isn't good not worth the trip.
