    Thai Chicken Curry
    Mariana G.

I heard through the grapevine that Thai chicken curry was the best thing on Blue Basil's menu, so when the food truck stopped by my apartment complex I had to try it. I'm so glad I did! This spicy green curry is made with coconut milk and lemongrass, and it comes with a side of jasmine rice. It is absolutely delicious, and the portions are generous. Definitely getting this again!

Veggie eggrolls, chicken over rice and Pad Thai. All amazing!

You know that their food is awesome when you eat it for leftovers the next day and it still tastes delicious! I ordered the Pad Thai chicken, Chicken over rice and all veggie egg rolls. The chicken is very tender and flavorful. Pad thai is not too sweet and delicious as well. The veggie egg rolls have a crazy crunch to it and tastes amazing! If you are lucky enough to find this truck and order here, DO NOT skip the veggie egg rolls! As I inhaled this food, I couldn't tell which dish was spicy, but it's just a tad and gives the meal a little kick. If you are sensitive to spiciness you might want to ask about it before you order. I'm also happy that they used recyclable containers for our takeout, not the toxic styrofoam plastics. Thanks for helping out the environment!

Their rice is microwavable Costco brown rice and quinoa, I eat it at home all the time and they 100% just use a microwaved rice packet. I wouldn't be surprised if the chicken was also from Costco (rotisserie).

Family owned LOCAL business, Asian Fusion, Thai and Vietnamese yummy flavorful food!!! Tried their Pad Thai, and it was sooo flavorful, a bit different than your common original pad thai, but this had so much flavor! The colors caught my attention! Ordered egg rolls and Chicken curry! I loved THEIR twist on the Pad Thai. Apparently you have to look them up online to see where their food truck will be set up since they go to different locations to cater. Had them because they were serving food to the workers of the Austin Regional Clinic in North Austin! Love supporting local businesses!

    Pad Thai Chicken (Sous Vide)

For $12 you can get a pretty good basic pad thai. Not sure why they don't use any veggies like bean sprout, bell pepper, or cilantro but I think it's up to par for the quality you'd expect from a food truck. The people working are also pretty friendly and efficient.

Ordered lunch through lunchdrop today. Very rarely do I not finish a meal, a Thai meal at that, however today was that day. The chicken curry I received was bland and uninspiring, even with the fire sauce included, there was nothing saving this dish. The serving included a few potatoes, and lots of chicken but when the dish is not up to par these things matter not. The egg rolls that I received however were awesome. The rest of the meal, disappointing. This was a one and done.

So good!! We had the pad Thai, the green curry and the egg rolls and nothing disappointed. Reasonably priced and full of flavor. Definitely check them out if you get the chance!

Rice with grilled tofu and egg

Chilantro and Blue Basil come by our offices weekly. And every week, that Chilantro line is crazy ridiculous. So, I don't eat it that often, but when I do, I am always flummoxed why it is so popular. I mean, it's fine; it's perfectly edible. I always get the rice bowl with tofu and egg. And every time I've ordered it, the tofu is dry and overcooked. EVERY TIME. And every time I've ordered it, Chilantro is out of lettuce. And sometimes, they're out of rice. So I am basically ordering rice, tofu nugget bowl, and soggy egg, or lettuce with tofu nuggets and soggy egg. Anyway, Blue Basil, on the other hand, hardly ever has a long line, which is a damn shame--for them. And their tofu rice bowl is REALLY good. Like, ridiculously good. Their tofu is perfectly cooked and seasoned. Their egg is well cooked. Their sticky rice is delicious. And their sauces add just the right amount of sweet and spicy. I am a major, major fan.

Not a good place for asian food. Everything tastes a bit weird. They also serve old stale noodles. Dont ever get the pad thai.

Parking & Service: Arrival was stress-free thanks to the massive parking lot in the strip mall. From the moment we walked in, the staff was incredibly welcoming. We usually prefer a heavy heat, but found that levels 8 and 9 were still relatively mild. If you're a true spice lover, you might want to venture into the double digits! The Food: Portions are very generous and perfect for family-style dining. Everything was flavorful, though my one small note for the kitchen is that some dishes leaned a bit heavy on the salt. The service has always been great--servers are attentive, friendly, and quick to clear plates, which we've always appreciated. It's part of why we kept coming back. We usually order the fried pompano, and it's always been a favorite. But the last couple of times, the fish has been noticeably smaller--like almost half the size it used to be. That was already a letdown. What really did it for us, though, was finding a plastic to-go cup lid inside one of our drink glasses. It was buried in there, and completely threw us off. At that point, we were just done. It's a bummer because we've liked this place for a long time, but between the smaller portions and that experience, we won't be coming back.

The menu is pretty extensive too, so it was easy for everyone to find something they were excited about. I had the Tum Tad salad, which was super fresh and flavorful with a nice balance of tangy and savory. For dessert, the mango sticky rice was a standout. It was made with a black rice that actually looked kind of blue, which made it really visually fun. It's perfectly poached, incredibly tender, and paired with fragrant rice that's rich without being greasy. It also comes with a decadent bowl of soup. I usually start with the chicken skin appetizer, which iss dangerously addictive. It's crispy, light, and comes with dipping sauce. The combo plate is the way to go if you want to try the poached and fried chicken. You get a variety of textures and flavors, both juicy and crunchy. Both sauces are great to dip in and the chicken goes great with the rice. If you can handle spice, the boat noodles are a great option too. The broth is complex and spicy, with tender noodles and well-seasoned meat. The spiciness is definitely a build up, but the broth is so good you can't stop drinking it. Overall, P Thai's is a great spot for lunch or dinner. Plenty of seating inside with some outside, nice staff that explain everything, and a great spot to share food. That said, it was honestly delicious, just not what I expected. One thing to note: they don't really do modifications, so just be prepared to order things as-is. I also have to give them credit for the outdoor seating area because it's such a nice setup. It's dog-friendly, shaded, spacious, and they even have a self-serve water station.
