    Bacon burger

First time at this diner. Service was good and it looks clean. I took a star off because I saw my hamburger and salad sitting there on the counter for a good 10+ minutes before the waitress actually served it. The diner was not busy at the time either. Their Cobb salad was good and tasty but the burger was no longer hot off the grill. Prices here are reasonable. The burger and salad bill was less than $22 before tip.

I came here with my family for a birthday breakfast. Off the bat, the service was great. She took all our drink orders and quickly returned to take our food orders. She was very attentive throughout the whole dine in experience. Their coffee was strong which is always a plus. I ordered two eggs over easy with well done bacon and toast on the side. I also ordered a side of French toast. The eggs were cooked perfectly and the bacon was very crispy. The French toast was nothing very impressive, I have had better French toast in other diners. The only downfall of this place are the prices; they are a bit ridiculous. An egg omelette can cost $15-17 which I think is super expensive for an omelette.

We came for dinner on a Thursday night and was seated right away. We ordered an order of mozzarella sticks to start and a chicken souvlaki platter and chipotle bacon burger with sweet potato fries as our mains. Mozzarella sticks and burger were excellent and the highlight of our meal. I was expecting a little more flavor on the chicken for the chicken souvlaki platter at a Greek diner but overall not bad. Service was pretty good, found the prices to be a little on the higher end for a no frills diner although the portion sizes were decent.

Out of date, washed up and in need of some change. Their food is a hit or miss. The garnish used on some dishes are so unlatching and out of style you'd think you're being served in the 70's. Been here before, know what to expect and will be back again because it's not THAT bad, and it's definitely not THAT good either. It's just something to walk in and not have high expectations. Their portions are large, but so not worth the price. Stay FAR away from their Jumbo Bagel. It is t jumbo, and it comes on a desolate plate with a big square of fake cream cheese that YOU have to spread. It was SUCH an eyesore. But it's a diner. Go for the breakfast 100%!

Amazing food and service. I highly recommend visiting this diner. It's small but very accommodating. Staff is very pleasant!

I had an appointment with my cardiologist in March when Covid hit, so it got cancelled and finally rescheduled to his Whitestone Office yesterday. After finally finding non metered parking in the neighborhood (that took a few minutes), I spied this place while walking to his office. After my examination, where my pulse, blood oxygen, blood pressure and EKG all came back aces, I of course decided to stop at the diner to celebrate with a heart attack special, The French Toast Lumberjack. Due to Covid, they have outdoor seating in their quite spacious backyard. Service was attentive and the French Toast Lumberjack was delicious. I'll be back in six months after my next cardiologist appointment.

I'm not normally one to complain about anything in regards to pricing, but this is an absurdity. I live in New York City. There are a million diners, and I've eaten at quite a few of them. I try to stay away from potatoes. They lay heavy. Fried to death, so I order two eggs and bacon, and ask them to 86 the potatoes and sub veg. I've done this at what feels like 100 different diners before. Waiter made no mention of an up charge at all. There was an upcharge. A VERY large one. This was predatory. This was deceptive. I will not be back again, and I suggest that if you decide to eat here, you should absolutely ask about upcharges yourself before getting surprised. I absolutely cannot recommend. Average food, deceptive billing. Stay far away.

    Nice and clean!!!

Prices are way too high: very disappointing because the food is very diner basic. Not worth it!

The chef comes from the world of high-end NYC dining, and you can feel that experience in every detail of the food. There's a level of creativity, precision, and thoughtfulness here that honestly feels Michelin-worthy. This makes sense, because the restaurant has earned that recognition. Beyond the food, Archie's also has one of the best Scotch and whiskey (bourbon and rye included) selections anywhere in the area. It feels curated by people who genuinely care about food and drink, not just running another restaurant. We eat there often, especially for brunch, which is spectacular and consistently better than it has any right to be for a neighborhood spot on City Island. The best example of the attention to detail was the chopped cheese sandwich special. When it arrived, my first thought was: "How is anyone supposed to eat this giant thing?" But then you take a bite and realize the bread was custom made specifically for the sandwich. Somehow it completely melts in your mouth along with the meat and cheese, making this enormous sandwich unexpectedly delicate and perfectly balanced. It's the kind of detail most restaurants would never even think about. Archie's is a true hidden gem and proof that truly exceptional food can exist in places you wouldn't expect.
