We made the mistake of going to Blue Birdy tonight (June 14, 2026) to watch the UFC fight. From the moment we got there it was a disaster. First of all, we called ahead of time A WEEK PRIOR to ask for reservations, and we were told that they didn't take reservations and it was "first come, first served." So we arrive, and there are plenty of tables open, and we point towards a booth that we want and they say that it is "reserved". We then ask for the manager and explained to him that we spoke on the phone to their staff (again, a week prior) and they said that they didn't take reservations, and it was "first come first served." And then he tried to turn it into "oh, it's because it's a booth that fits six people and you're only three people, but I can get you a table." So we were like OK. We understood that it was just the three of us and we didn't want to take up a six person booth for three people. We got a less desirable table. We proceeded to order drinks and food. At one point, I order a drink and 20 minutes go by. I make eye contact with the guy who was taking orders. He acknowledges me, and comes over with his thingamajig, thinking I wanted to get the check and I said "no I'm still waiting for my drink." He says " I'm so sorry I'll check on it." He acknowledged the lapse. Yet another 10 minutes go by. So now, I politely approach the bar to get the status of my elusive drink. I see the man who told me he would "check on it", frantically telling the owner "She wants her martini...right now!" And then the waitress comes running up and goes (literally, snarls at me) with "I put it on your table! You were speaking so you didn't hear me!" Honestly I could not believe my ears or my eyes. This woman has no business being anywhere near hospitality, or customer service. The "owner" clearly doesn't know how to run a business. I feel like the waiter or the man taking orders on his thingamajig/digital device was inept/incompetent or unable to multitask, so he was trying to throw the customers under the bus instead of acknowledging the fact that he didn't do his job. He was the turd in the punch bowl from the moment we walked in. No smile, no "hi, how are you? Welcome!" Just nastiness. There are so many other hotspots to go to in West Hollywood. Or better yet, just stay home. And by the way, that booth that we didn't get - it remained empty, except for 2 people. They were making out the whole time, and they barely ordered anything. If you're going to tell people there are "no reservations", then there should be no reservations. Period. You don't get to do that to patrons, and guess what? We will never go there again. And guess what else? Customer service is everything. People will look past your crappy product, and past so many other shortcomings, but only if you have good customer service. You cannot have rude wait staff who repel local business, and seem so obviously annoyed that they have to serve other humans food and drinks! These are not the people that you need in the hospitality industry. Get over yourselves. read more

Disaster experience This place was, without question, one of the worst experiences I've ever had. Never coming back. We made a reservation here to watch the Dodgers game, but the manager who seated us was incredibly rude. He even made an inappropriate comment to another couple, telling the husband that his wife was pretty -- completely unprofessional. He led us to a table in the smoking area without saying anything about it, and only told us we couldn't change seats. Later we had to sit through the entire game surrounded by cigarette smoke. When it got too bad, we stepped inside for a moment, and one of the staff asked which table we were at. When we said we were outside, she replied rudely that no one on their team had seen us -- as if we were lying. Our food took over an hour, and when we asked, they admitted they never even placed our order. They promised a complimentary quesadilla, but that never came either. Later, when the food finally arrived, a server tried to take away our plates even though we weren't finished. And to make things worse, when we got the bill, the "complimentary" item they promised was still charged, and we had to explain everything all over again. The Bloody Mary tasted like plain tomato juice, and even the payment process was careless -- instead of bringing the check, they just pushed a card reader in front of us. I had a great experience at Blue Birdy! My mom and I stopped by for a quick bite before a show at the Whisky and were very pleased with our meal. We ordered the fish and chips and I'm being serious when I say that everything tasted AMAZING. The fish was so fresh and perfectly cooked, and the fries were nice and crispy without being hard. The service was great and they were very attentive throughout the whole meal. Felt so lucky stumbling into this place. Bought tickets to see a rock concert at Whiskey A Go Go, this place is just a few steps away from the venue. If I told you, somebody took the time to blend a sports bar with fine dining and offer outdoor seating on Sunset Boulevard, would you believe me? Came to Blue Birdy on a Sunday afternoon and think I found my new favorite brunch spot!! The drinks are AMAZING. We had the Strawberry fields, Pineapple Express and Boom ba-da. The strawberry fields is the perfect drink if you're in the mood for something sweet and a little creamy with its foam top. The Pineapple Express was crisp and refreshing if you're in the mood for something more tropical. The bomba da is the way to go if you want something more balanced(plus it's sparkly). Each of these cocktails was crafted to perfection and they make their drinks strong so you don't need a lot! It's a plus that they are all GORGEOUS. They have a great selection of food for brunch/lunch and dinner. They have some standard items like chilaquiles and burgers and more unique brunch items like Ube French toast and matcha pancakes. But the star of the show is the short rib!!! I don't know what the chef does but every bite is melt in your mouth tender and so flavorful. Get it in the Benedict or burrito and you won't be disappointed. My partner loves the chilaquiles which are super fast and covered in sauce. Best part is they manage to keep them super crispy(we hate soggy chilaquiles)! They also have a great selection of bar food if you just want some munchies while you sip on your drinks to keep it casual. Definitely recommend the asparagus fries which are paired with a sweet soy/teriyaki sauce. They had something for everyone in our group and managed to do everything well! Definitely need to check this place out at night too. During the day the restaurant functions as a cute brunch spot with an amazing patio and during the night there are DJs, dancers and some bomb cocktails. Came here on Sunday around noon for brunch. Had seen a video of it on IG with the matcha pancakes and wanted to try it out. The place wasn't busy at all, so we were able to get seated right away, which was nice. Waters were brought to us by our server, Daniel, who was on top of things. We started off with drinks, and I grabbed a bottomless mimosas for $20 which is a great deal. The Mango Daiquiri was very menu forward, which isn't a bad thing, the Strawberry Fields could have used a little more strawberry puree to really push that strawberry flavor, but not bad and the mimosa was a mimosa For food, we ordered multiple items amongst the group to get a good idea of how the food was. The short rib burrito actually had a good flavor and tenderness, paired with the scrambled eggs, mozzarella and avocado cream. The matcha pancakes were a let down as the matcha just didn't come through for us. The same can be said about the ube stuffed french toast. Was expecting much more with them. The huevos rancheros were decent but nothing that I would say you definitely have to go try. And the morning breakfast was just the eggs and your choice of bacon, sausage or vegan sausage. Very basic. I will say, however, presentation with most of the food was very good, even with the drinks. One other thing of note, on the weekend, there is a ton of traffic on Sunset, and with the restaurant having an open space showing air in from outside, the traffic noise can be very intruding if you're trying to have a conversation. Just a side note to keep in mind. It could have been that it was just the weekend and a lot of cruiser motorcycles were going by with loud exhaust also. No fault of the restaurant at all. Couldn't wait the leave that place! I used to sit in the previous establishment in this location before blue birdy opened so I was really happy to come and check it out. There is no vibe or atmosphere in the place. The volume of the game that was on the main screen was so high it was annoying. I was ok with that as long the game was on but when the commercial brake and half time show was on with that volume it was so bad, mainly when totally different music was playing on the patio area. This is annoying. The design is like we are in 1992 with the pink LEDs and the service is almost non-existent. I love how this place is perfect for both watching your favorite sports game or classy date night out. I watched The Olympics here and plan on coming back for football season. There's also an outdoor patio which is great for larger groups or even private parties. The food and drinks were super yummy I'm sober, my brother is vegan, and my mom eats and drinks everything. We each were able to completely enjoy happy hour! The service was welcoming, fast, and on top of it. Some places feel too "sceney" in WeHo (especially on the Sunset Strip) but not Blue Birdy. The vibe was real and the people coming in were also real. The server also got a water bowl for my dog FOOD I highly recommend the fish tacos, beet salad, beef sliders, asparagus fries, and Buffalo cauliflower. My favorite item was the fish tacos - loved the salsa that came with it! DRINKS I'm sober so I got the mocktail version of the Strawberry Fields. I ducked into Blue Birdy (8917 W Sunset Blvd, West Hollywood) around 6:30 PM to escape a homeless man following me on Sunset Boulevard. I explained to the bartender and asked if I could wait until 7:30 when the nearby Rainbow Bar opened. He asked what I'd like, so I ordered water (I don't drink alcohol), and he provided it, letting me sit quietly at the bar with my phone. Felt safe at first--appreciated the initial kindness. But by 6:45, he flipped, demanding I leave for "not buying anything" despite our agreement and the fact I'd ordered and was drinking the water. When I reminded him, he threatened police and said I was making customers uncomfortable--just for sipping water? (There were only 4-5 people at the bar and 3 at the corner of the restaurant--hardly a crowd I was disrupting.) I checked outside, saw the guy still lurking at the entrance of Blue Birdy staring right at me, and went back in. The bartender said to sit again, but then immediately reversed and told me to go, claiming he'd "scared him away." As I left, I called out the disrespect. He escalated with insults: said I looked homeless, belonged on the streets. As a stroke survivor (with open-heart surgery as a baby), I got frustrated and struggled with my words--he mocked me by mumbling back. Humiliating and unprofessional. I was dressed in $300 boots, $86 leather pants, a $25 T-shirt, and a $20 furry hat, and caused no issues--just needed temporary refuge. This flip-flopping and discriminatory behavior (potentially ADA-violating) turned a safe spot into a nightmare. Management, train your staff on empathy and disability respect.
