We went into Blue Coast with high expectations. They were misplaced expectations. Later I remembered that the fish tacos that I was looking for were actually at a nearby restaurant. We were very disappointed to find out that the "signature" Baja Fish tacos were filled with originally frozen then cooked fish nuggets. I n my opinion the quality is declining. I just had a "steak" burrito. I used quotation marks because I am very doubtful it was steak. It seemed to be some kinda beef, but it was closer to pot roast than steak. Or what most of us would consider to be steak. Plus the meat was really salty. This place was so delicious! I am in this area for work this week so I figured I'd try a place I had never had before. I had the grilled chicken burrito bowl with chips and salsa and the fruit tea (because of the good reviews about it) and ordered trough UberEats. The only bad thing was that they forgot any plastic utensils; but it wasn't the end of the world because I just asked the front desk at my hotel to bring up some! The burrito bowl with the grilled chicken was SO good and had so many flavors; I would highly recommend it. The chips were thin and light, but not too thin. I tried the mild salsa and the pineapple salsa and both were amazing in their own unique ways. The fruit tea was good but I prefer standard sweet tea so I don't think I'd order the fruit tea again but I would recommend everyone to at least try it once! :) Everything was so yummy. What is there not to like about this place? You order at a counter and if it's going to take a minute, they bring it to you. You get your own drinks, utensils and salsa. Oh, and you drop your plates and metal utensils off in a cubicle. Gotta problem with any of that? If so, good luck finding any restaurant still in the lunch business around here that you can walk out paying less than $8 per person. (Let me check some good ones off - Franklin Mercantile, Swanky Taco Shop, The Greek Cafe...) Back to Blue Coast, for lunch, you cannot beat it when you're over on the west side of I-65 and you want to stay near Cool Springs. Yesterday, we arrived a little before 12. Fortunately, there were only a few people in line. Ordered their peasant plate with pork (chicken or steak are other options). Black beans, rice, pork, chunky pico salsa, lettuce, jalapenos, guacamole, olives and a little cheese (saving the calories for their chips). I've been here once, and it was enough to steer me away forever. My biggest complaint: I ordered a veggie burrito and asked if I could have guacamole on it since I wasn't getting meat, and they told me it was going to be extra. Meat is the, or should be, the most expensive thing on the buffet... so why is it that if I get the veggie burrito, which costs exactly the same as a chicken or beef burrito, I can't get the guac without an extra charge? (Chipotle does this...) On top of that annoyance, my burrito was soggy as soon as I got it, like the burrito warmer had make the shells wet. It was nasty. I didn't like it. They pissed me off. Blue Coast Burrito is not owned by the same people that own Baja Burrito. This was told to us by the owners. We go there that often. SIDE NOTE: Baja Burrito and Blue Coast are not owned by the same people. This was just confirmed by Baja on my Twitter. They responded to this review. One of my co-workers has even painted a platter with their logo and takes it with him each time. Reason for four stars, instead of five: This location can become very crowded at lunch, so hit it at an off time. Seating is tight and you can expect many children with their mothers at this location - read messy and loud. Sit outside, it's much nicer. The pineapple salsa is delicious. They are the only location to serve Las Paletas, which are very good. I get a spinach burrito with both beans and chicken. I cannot eat it all and save the rest for later. read more

I'm a big fan of Blue Coast Burrito. Matter of fact, I ate there today with the one and only Eli Anders. To me, Blue Coast Burrito has a lot more character and charm than some of the national chains that provide the same sort of "build your own" burrito. There seems to always be questions about it's connection with Berry Hill's Baja Burrito. The menu is basically the same, the look and feel are the same, the fruit tea are the same - they have to be related! Baja Burrito was the original and started by Troy Smith. Then Blue Coast started as franchise extension of the original. Originally there was a connection in ownership, but that no longer exists. ...so "distant cousins" who look a lot alike may be the best ways to describe the relationship. I'm just glad Blue Coast exists so others can enjoy this local and regional chain. I like the flavorful menu options and the "Subway" concept of build your own. They are known for having excellent fish tacos. To me, their Queso is some of the best! And I like their chips, and all of their Salsa are excellent. Blue Coast Burrito now officially has Nachos on the menu, though they have been making them for years - and they are totally delicious! Today I ordered a "Cabo Bowl" which has a base of rice, black beans, Queso and pork. They added cilantro, gave me some Jalapenos, topped it with sour cream and oh-my-word I loved it! I will definitely get it again. Their spicy chicken is amazing...but if you ever get the juice on your shirt, kiss it good-bye, those stains do not come out. Tide should use it for one of their stain tests. My only negative about Blue Coast is the layout of the seats. It's just too crowded in there.... but I do realize they are trying to maximize seating capacity. The patio is excellent on sunny days in the Spring. I'm a big fan of this place. read more

The absolute WORST customer service ever in a VERY DIRTY establishment. Old bald man yells and employees and delivery driver and they cant keep employees because of it. They are not clean at all. I ate recently and tables, counters and floors all dirty and employees dont always wear gloves on food prep. My neighbors warned me about how horrible this place is and now I have seen it first hand! I went in, and my first impression was that it looked a lot like Baja Burrito in Berry Hill. Hmm. There was no line, so I went right up to the counter, and the kitchen layout was the same. Knowing that if there was a connection, I changed up my order. I got beef instead of chicken, got a "chipotle" tortilla. I got a medium hot sauce; I even asked for extra cheese, again, hoping it would add flavor. Unfortunately, just like at Baja Burrito, there was just no flavor at all. I ate the whole thing, and it was like eating just the rice, beans, and a plain tortilla. I don't see how they can take fresh vegetables, spices, loads of cheese, and grilled beef, and somehow turn it into British food: a flavorless pile of mush. It's a shame that there's not a Chipotle, or perhaps some sort of local place like Mr. Burrito Fresh isn't in Franklin, because they would kill. Let me just preface this by saying that on Tuesday Nights kids meal is only $1.99, so when I went it the place was packed with kids. I didn't mind since I was one of the people there who was taking them up on the deal. I admit, I wasn't thrilled with them the last time ate at a Blue Coast. Admittedly, I went on the word of a friend on what to order and it just wasn't for me, besides it was take out and I wasn't there to see how it really worked. This time, I got it, and having researched the nutritional info (not because I'm some sort of food freak, but because I am committed to finally getting some of this pregnancy weight off) I realized that I could have a really GREAT salad with very little damage to my diet. Although had I known earlier in the day I may have only had veggies for lunch so I could have one of their wonderful fish taco's or burritos. So here is my summary in case you got lost in my crazy up there: - Great for Kids, especially on Tuesday Night - Good for the diet, if you plan ahead or stick with the soup or salad, but know what kills the diet is the tortilla, not the other fixings, so load them up. - fairly economical, especially on a Tuesday Night (feel the reoccurring theme) Definitely would go again, and again, and again (on Tuesday) read more

Blue Coast Burrito is owned by the same people who own Baja Burrito. So if you are in the Franklin area and get a craving it's the exact same food. I actually like this location better. It's cleaner, less crowded, has better parking, and i don't have to constantly wave flies away from my food. Just like the original Baja Burrito they have a ton of vegetarian choices. You will not leave this place hungry. It's also the only place I know of in the Franklin area that carries Las Paletas. read more

Generally speaking this is the same type of deal as Moe's, Baja, Chipotle, and other fast, casual California-style burrito cuisine. My thinking is, I'd rather give my money to something local rather than a chain. I'm satisfied with what I'm getting all around (and keep in mind, what you order makes a substantial difference in whether you like this place or any other derivation). I've tried a little of everything, and the ingredients are in line with other places more or less. Overall, it's above-average food and experience. Note: I go here quite a bit and I've noticed that its not quite as crowded since Tazikis moved in and Chipotle opened. I've started eating burrito bowls and since the taste is more or less the same, I'm gonna start hitting Chipotle more because the burrito bowl serving size is underwhelming at Blue Coast. In just a few years it seems that every street has a built-to-order burrito place. The menus continue to expand - fish tacos, nachos, kid's meals, etc. Although Chipotle was once a fav (I now get that it's equivalent to the Golden Arches of burrito makers), I try them all. After a recent relo to the Cool Springs area, I passed by a Blue Coast Burrito on Mallory behind the Whole Foods, and thought, 'why not', so I banged a U-turn. Here's why: Chips and queso on the menu? Yes. Available? No. Fish taco basket on the menu? Yes. Anywhere near fast service? No. Fish tacos easy to make? Yes. Made easy? No. Admittedly, the staff was apologetic about the queso and the fact that they apparently go out to a lake in far, west Tennessee to fish for your taco filling. Had I known that 3 fish tacos would take 7 minutes, I would have waited the other 3 minutes on queso. The fish tacos were drenched in sauce, which means the tortilla becomes soft and the filling falls out through the tears. Not a good exoerience. I also recommend they make the veggies smaller. Wondering if it's a piece of fish or a slab of onion is not what I want to focus on when eating. If you want tasty and speedy, Chili Burrito in Brentood is my go-to place. That place should be called Speedy Tasty Chili Burrito. I also recommend you try Baja Burrito in the Thompson Lane (Hwy 155) area. Both Chili Burrito and Baja Burrito are much, much faster than BCB. Baja is busier, not as much parking, and not as easy to get in and out of, yet it's packed and the line moves quickly (read: you get your food faster). Honestly, comparing the two locations is saying a Yugo is like a Lexus. My guess is that unless BCB in Cool Springs gets with it on speed and service, they'll die a strip mall death. Until then, I'll pass on BCB on Mallory in Franklin. read more

I placed an order on my app on 10/13/18, and had my husband pick up our order. When he got home, my burrito had no chicken on it. I also did not receive chips with my queso. I have never had an issue placing orders before or with this location (Franklin, TN). My husband said the kids that were working were rude and taking their time, as he was the only one in the restaurant. I sent an email to corporate to discuss my problem and have yet to hear back. We have been patrons of this restaurant for 5-7 years. While never great, it's usually good for the price . However, after many visits 'overlooking' the poorly cooked food, sub-par customer service, wait times, etc...we have finally decided to place it on our 'DO NOT EAT THERE' list. Most workers are high school students that appear to care very little about their job. Also, very often there is no adult manager on site. The staff appears to change every time we are there, so no real consistency in quality or customer service. Overall, best to visit Oscar's Taco Shop right down the road. Closer than other places around, but still not autentico estilo de la Mission like they advertise. Like most other wannabe taquerias, they are stingemeisters with the meat and liberal with the rice and beans. I estimate a Mission burrito could almost be replicated here, but it would cost you about $7.00, twice as much as in San Francisco. And the tortillas are slimy for some reason. Maybe because they steam them instead of grill or bake them? The large burrito will get you through a day of working in the fields, but the price means you'll have to work overtime. This place has pretty good fruit tea (a muddy-looking but cool cocktail of OJ and iced tea) and also offers Paletas (TM) gourmet popsicles! read more

This is my favorite "quick" Mexican restaurant. I don't even have to look at the menu any longer. Their burritos are simply the best.

1. It seemed dirty/dingy. I am curious what their health rating is. 2. I like that they are gluten free friendly. The staff made it no big deal to change gloves. 3. I LOVED the carnitas!!
