My experience here is always great but I only come on Wednesday nights for line dancing. However the bar tenders are always so nice and they really care about the people here and lookout for each other. My friend left her wallet out on the counter and got distracted dancing and the bar tender was very adamant about making sure it was hers and was looking out. The music is a vibe the drinks are flowing and good. No real drink "specials" $12 for a cocktail which is typical for a lounge/ bar plus the automatic 14% gratuity . $10 cover which is wild as heck for freakin Blue Cue but cest la vie. Well as a bartender for a venue in Oakland... I understand when you have a DJ prices go up at the door.... Let alone a special guest... I paid what I paid although unhappy about it esp while empty... whatever I just want to come support since I was told to come here by the owners brother in Nebraska. So I spend my life savings to get in and get catfish that taste like the sea and a margarita that tastes like juice... whatever I'm x amount in the hole at this point.. Not bad I really like coming here. It's not very packed and it's very laid-back. If you're looking for a club that's super packed with people then this is not the club for you. The bartender that serve us was very generous with his pours on our drinks and the price for those drinks were pretty good considering the generous boards, and we had the wings which was finger licking good, they allowed us to order the wings, even though they were closing the kitchen like three minutes before. I think $20 is a little expensive for a club, especially one that's not that big and doesn't have much foot traffic but other than that it was a great experience both times we went. read more

Came here with some family from out of state for cocktails and to play some pool. When we arrived around 10:30-11ish it was not crowded and the music was not to my liking. After a while the crowd thickened up and the entire vibe changed upstairs. The young crowd was well mixed; singles, couples, all ethnicities, etc. The bartender was very friendly, but the drinks were just average. The pool table was very poorly kept. Me and my sisters waited over an hour for food and the Burger King with no lettuce no tomato. I had to go up to the bar twice even asked for ranch with the chicken wings. Nor did any mayonnaise come with the burger when I asked for help security guy said I'm just helping out the managers not gonna do anything because people complain all the time. This is ridiculous. How can you run a business when you don't fix the problems! I will be telling everyone, including my rare breed brothers who rented it out this place and it was a fiasco for their annual because they did not even allow the people inside. What in the world happened to Blue Cue?! It has gone downhill real quick. We came on a Friday night and they now require a dress code...for a pool hall. No hoodies and you have to have a collared shirt for men. They used to have security at the door before walking up the stairs but now they don't. This would explain why there so many empty alcohol bottles littered all over the front entrance. The bar area smelled like vomit. I ordered a Vodka Redbull and my husband had a Corona, $15! I was excited about this place since Reddit recommend it for Bears fans. The redditors were not wrong but the place left a seriously sour taste in my mouth. As a tequila drinker the very first thing I did was ask the barkeep what a double patron silver is at this establishment and I was told 14. Fourteen dollars is about right for a place like this and I have never paid more than 21 for a double at any primo places I've visited. So to my surprise I was stunned to see a double patron charged at $26! Not only was I surprised about the tequila, I was stunned when they charged a draft Coors Light as a "premium beer", say what!!!?? I challenged the check but was met with a "meh" and I didn't want to make a fuss since I just wanted to finish watching the game. I left the bartender a good tip regardless but for gosh sakes if you're going to charge prices like this and identify Coors light as a "premium beer" maybe you should consider rebranding, relocating, and hiring a chef for a menu that warrants the prices you charged me. read more

Ambiance was decent it seemed like a cool bar with a lot of black people and decent music when we walked in there was a weird young dude who was bashing women while my girl was in the bathroom and then proceeded to hit on her when I went in, Service was alright the white security guard also hit on my gf which I felt was disrespectful and unprofessional, there was one bartender at the time we went we got two long islands for $20 we ended up not feeling them much and went for another and didn't feel them much either, he tried his best but the lines were a bit long, because of that they interrupted the music quite a bit to tell people to move away from the bar if they got their drinks, the tables were dirty I guess just low on staffing. I went there around 6 pm on a Monday for their burger and brew $6 special. I'm not a beer lover, so I got an angry orchard instead. I asked for a cheeseburger no onion. I got a hamburger no onion, but I didn't put up too much of a fuss because that burger was juicy and delicious for bar food! The fries were also yummy and cooked perfectly the way I like em, slightly mushy on the inside and slightly crispy on the outside. Food has really gone downhill, when they first opened under new ownership the food was amazing; lately it's been bad - cutting corners...order wings and they aren't "regular" but some breaded wings, small, and frankly just not good. Found out those were a special....nothing special about them, just serve the wings as normal. But then let's talk about those wings....$23 for 10 wings and fries.....absolutely not....that's an insane price! Yes I know food costs are high....but that's just being ridiculous - that's well above even a sit down restaurant price. Got here a little early when it was still fairly empty and slow. Thought we would have great service due to this fact but it was just mediocre. My buddy and I ordered our drinks, after I finished the first it was difficult to get the bartenders attention, she didn't seem interested in acknowledging our end. I saw another table had food so I asked for a menu. Ended up ordering a large pepperoni pizza as well as the garlic fries they have. Both of these weren't very good. The pizza seemed like it was just a frozen pizza. It states ok the menu its New York style pizza. I can assure you it's nothing of the sort. The Gilroy Garlic fries were plentiful, but not very hot, and the flavor was just lacking. The pool was fun, but the table we were on was definitely off. It was very noticeable how far the balls kept rolling that the table was warped or just off balanced. The mixed drinks were decently priced, which is great because they weren't very strong, at least mine weren't. My buddy ordered their old fashioned twice. The first was an old fashioned, the next bartender that made one definitely didn't make an old fashioned. Looked like just plain juice in the glass. Overall I wouldn't really recommend coming here. It is eclectically decorated with pub tables, stools, cushiony booths, and sexy soft seating. The soft seating area has white leather sofas. And the leather is crushed...mmmm so comfy. Don't think Ill ever want to get up from this sofa area. Is that my buzz talking in my head?? I dunno, but I feel as though I have melted into Blue Cue's white leather sofa with my lovely glass of wine. You should try it. Come to Blue Cue, buy a drink and sit on the white leather sofas with your friends. No need to get up because the service is fantastic. Enjoy the ambiance, watch one of the "many" flat screen TV's, play a game of pool, or simply enjoy a conversation with friends. In Re.: The food... The HH food menu at Blue Cue is pretty good. My friends and I ordered a pep pizza and we were surprised at how delicious it was. I'm not a huge pizza lover, but the pizza here is D-lish. There's something about the crust. Its super thin and not too dried out like most thin crust pizza. Is it pre baked with a garlic butter wash... I'm not sure. You gotta try it and see for yourself. So my boyfriend and I decided to come out to try their Taco Tuesdays & Happy Hour. So we got to the place and it looked closed from the outside, and when we walked in it was totally empty besides the one bartender. But the place was open so we walked on in and were given menus. We were then informed that their $1 Taco Tuesdays are only from 8-10pm. Whereas their Happy Hour is from 5-8pm. That's right folks, Happy Hour ends before the $1 tacos start. We had no idea and were a bit disappointed but made the best of it. We ordered our drinks, a red bull vodka (2 for $10 was the Happy Hour 'deal') and a vodka tonic ($3). We then ordered a couple of Happy Hour items: Wings w/ranch ($3) and Chicken w/Pineapple Sticks($3). We then were informed by the very nice bartender that pool was free on Tuesdays. So he gave us a set of balls and we made our way to a table. We played for a while and before we knew it our food was out. We gobbled it up and decided to get another order of Wings w/ranch ($3) and a pizza ($5). We continued to play and drink and so forth. All in all we ordered 5 Happy Hour apps, 4 drinks, and played pool -- and the tab total was about $36. Not bad at all ... seeing as to how playing pool for 1 1/2 hours could run up to $12/hour. Service-wise, there was only one guy running the whole show, as far as I saw. He was doing the music, pouring the drinks, and running in the back for the food (although I believe there was a cook in the back). And he did a FANTASTIC job. We NEVER felt like we were flagging him down, he was very attentive, quick, and just an all around great employee of the establishment. I do hope that he is there again when we make our way through next Tuesday. The place itself is actually quite nice. They have a couple of lounge seating area and about 6 flat screen TVs all the way around the place. They have about 5 pool tables, which isn't much, but since we were the only ones there, it was enough for us ;P. There are also a bunch of high top tables that seat 4 people on each, which are around the pool table area and a couple near the lounge area. They even have a very cute outside deck. Complete with a large umbrella and a little mini bar with chairs for people to sit on and look over their 'view' (mainly overlooking a parking lot, but still aiight). My Advice?? : Get there around 7:45pm, order a couple drinks and maybe some wings or fries from the Happy Hour menu. Get all that you want from the Happy Hour menu then before it turns 8pm. Then play some free pool, it shouldn't be too hard to get a pool table around this time. Then as 8pm rolls around, order yourself some $1 tacos. Then you get the BEST of BOTH worlds =D! Happy Hour w/Free Pool (no waiting on tables, since it supposedly gets more packed as it gets later) AND $1 tacos. [I'm going to do this and see how it goes ... I truly believe that if I did this to begin with I would've ended up giving the place 5 stars. -- Bold statement, I know, but we'll see how it goes.] Oh and might I mention ... No Cover. When I went there wasn't a dress code either, but that may change on the weekends -- not too sure (might want to call them to ask for that one). read more

Blue Cue is a great place to get a group together especially if you come during happy hours, and they have a great one. There is a large mingling area, an area for Billiards and an outdoor patio smoking area. There is something for everyone! I was with a large goodbye party in between the hours of 6 and 8 you can pretty much fill up the place and mingle from table to table. They have great happy hour specials and food. The bartender / DJ will also play songs upon request. As the night moved on the entire Vibe changes for the younger crowd. Then came the bouncers asking everyone to remove their ball caps. Obviously in my mid-forties I don't understand these young club rules, but it was about time for me to turn into a pumpkin anyway so I went home. Mixed emotions... Been here plenty of times, had some very good & interesting experiences here. However, the last one outshines all of them because it was a haven of Niner fans all there for one cause - too root and cheer as loud as possible as if were at the Stick!! This occasion the drinks were stiff and the food was good. We ordered the Margherita pizza and it was on point - perfectly cooked and great, fresh flavor. It took awhile to get, but its forgiven because tons of people were there eating and drinking. The workers did the best they could and checked up on a us tons, so I don't really have any negative about my most recent experience. But the past remains the past and it taints this spot. Huge brawls, trying to scamper down the two flights of stairs, flying glassware, horrible bartenders....but I guess one shouldn't hold it against them. As all grid spots, it has its ups & downs, you go for awhile - you avoid for awhile. I hope it stays chill. I love coming here for Pool, but don't assume this is your standard pool hall. Blue Cue is a great mix of bar, bar food, trivia, music, and pool. They have weekly events that at pretty chill. I think that they sponsor Xoso nights as well. So Blue Cue is a pretty lively place at times. Bar: I wouldn't come here if all you wanted were drinks. Only a few beers on tap, but they are decent. I haven't had any of the mixed drinks so I can't comment on them. Bar Food: I've always enjoyed the food. It's bar food. So don't come with high expectations but it's good bar food. Again, though, don't necessarily come for the bar food. Pool: YES! Come for the pool. I'm here with friends about once a month to play pool and always have a blast. I'd say the best "pool hall" in Sac. Never to crowded and the tables are away from the bar crowd so they won't bother you. Love playing having a beer and grabbing a bite. A few hours of play and a beer and food is only about $20. So pretty good. Bar Trivia and other events: Yah, pretty fun bar trivia here but there are a ton of them in town. I am here quiet frequently, almost every Thursday after dodgeball. Since coming here for over a year now, I have not had a bad experience. Despite all recent outside activities amongst other trouble makers located outside, you will still find a big group from Xoso league having a good time after our games here. With great service and their drinks never coming out bad with great amount of alki in them, you can count on having a successful hang out with you and your friends. This place offers great seating throughout their establishment, which is another factor on why you should hang out with your friends here. They have numerous tv's located throughout the car as well, so if you're looking for a location to catch a game and find a reason to get out of your house, then Blue Cue is your solution. The staff as very helpful and welcoming to their customers, and their food is not that bad. Also daily Blue Cue has specials on their food, so all you have to do is ask who is helping you "what's today's special." And sometimes when their out of something on the menu, they will create deals on what is left on the menu. Can't go wrong with their pizza or their burgers with a good beer (Monday's they have burger and beer specials only $6, and the burger comes with fries.) Besides the numerous tv's for sporting events, they also have a photo stand where you can take as many casual or funny photos you want with you friends and post onto facebook or just email it to yourself. Another entertaining factor is that they have three pool tables within the bar (which you rent the balls and they charge per hour), they also offer an outdoor patio for those who need a smoke break. Jalapenos were added to make it spicy, but it wasn't that spicy. If you go with a group of people, you may need two tables for all the food/drinks. You walk up a flight of stairs to enter the place. The interior is nicer than I thought it would be for a pool hall/bar. There were comfy looking couches. There is a photo booth that can keep you entertained while you're waiting for your food. The photos can be sent to your email or posted onto Facebook. The only comment I can make about the service is that there is none. Let me say I have been coming to & patronizing Blue Cue since St. Patrick's Day 2013. Always great strong drinks and friendly bartenders. But the last time I was here a couple of years ago was a bit disturbing. Hoping it was just a bad day. To start they were actually doing pat down searches. At only 8:00. On a Thursday! At a very divey bar! Then the guard searching me allowed two guys to walk right in without searching them. And when I asked him why they did not have to get searched, the guard told me he knows them. Whatever. Later, another security guard, a Mexican guy, approached me & started taking to me in Spanish. I am not Hispanic & do not look it in the slightest. I told him No Hablo Espanol, and he just kept talking. Each time I said No Hablo Espanol, he got more & more aggressive, continuing to speak to me in Spanish. To the point he sounded borderline hostile. So I walked away, and he followed me. I finally turned around and asked him for his Jefe, his boss. Then he turned around & left me alone. I really hope these are isolated incidents. Otherwise I may be not be returning. Hopefully you will not lose this customer of more than eight years. read more

I came here with a group from work for one of our monthly Happy Hour Mixers. Even though it is downtown, when we arrived at 4:00pm there were still some spots on the street in front of the door. Score! There is a set of steep stairs in order to get into the business (and only a small sign by the door to guide you in) because it's on the second floor of the building. Inside the room is spacious and has plenty of seats at tables or booths and a small patio overlooking the parking lot. There are about 4-5 pool tables around the space and we were able to easily grab one when we were there. There were only a few other people at the bar the entire time we were there so it was pretty dead from 4-6pm on a Wednesday evening. We ordered a few Margherita Pizzas which were SO good! The crust tasted so fresh and it was chewy and so much yum. The toppings like the cheese and sauce were so great too. I would definitely get this again! Beer for Happy Hour was your standard fair. Bathrooms are down a long hallway and were really gross. One of the bathrooms seemed to be permanently locked so there was only one open stall which dirty and uncomfortable. This is a cool bar to chill. Good drinks. The reason for the 2 stars because they pick and choice who they let in when there is a line to enter. I've actually witness people walking up being let in, while there are people waiting in line. Also they started a $10 cover charge as of 4/2/21. Which that isn't a problem. BUT I've notice most people coming in not being charge. I've been to this bar numerous times. As a bar rules should apply to EVERYONE.
