A different man chased us around the corner offering to wave the fee if we only wanted food to go, so stupidly we went back in. More stupidly I ordered a shot of tequila to wait which I wasn't able to shoot. When the food came I had pressure to shoot and leave, so i brought it to my mouth and almost drank that cocksucker down. BLOODY Roaches! I spat the liquid and took it back to the bar to get a refund in which the tender had the audacity to ask me if I was outside before finally refunding only my shot. I doubt I'll eat the chicken or anything they're lucky i didn't have a vomit or a meltdown about this thing crawling in my drink inside their bar! Clearly I did not put much thought in my original review of Blue Cue! Update needed! Blue Cue has turned into my pre-drinking, Happy Hour, or grab a quickie spot! Pre-Drinking: If I want a low key place to stop 1st before a long night of bar hopping or events or even before concerts at Harlow's, I will stop into Blue Cue and grab a pre-drink. Most of the times by myself, to take a moment to breathe, think and Yelp! Happy Hour: One cannot complain about $3 Happy Hour! They bust out chicken wings, tacos, potato skins, quesadillas, sliders etc. all out of this small kitchen in the hallway of the building. All pretty good bar treats and reasonable size for $3 each. It's a great way to order a lot as a group and share for little in overall price. Though drink prices have gone up a bit, $3 beers, $3.50 premium draft, $4 well or $5 wine; all the prices are still stellar! Quickie: Often times, I may just want a quickie aka one drink! LOL, the staff is great, no pressure to order more, and will quickly pour your requested cocktail and shoot you the bill! Three very good reasons to head on over to Blue Cue!! Years ago, I used to regularly get gift certificates for this bar, so I would come right after work to get dinner when there was literally no one else there except the bartender. I'd be in and out before 6:00 pm. I think that is the only way I've ever had a decent time here. Last weekend, a friend was having a night out for his birthday and happened to be here when we met up with him. Really? Sigh. We arrived a little after 9:00 pm and made our way upstairs, hoping for the best. I feel bad rating the place so low, because there are a lot of positive aspects. The staff are nice, the facility itself is pretty nice and has great couches, and the bathrooms are clean. It does appear that they have tried their best to set up a cool spot for people to have fun. But, it's also expensive, overpopulated by generally sleazy and despicable people, and you find yourself looking around thinking it looks like some trainwreck scene from a shitty movie starring Katherine Heigl. A pint of PBR is $4.50. Just...what? They seem to try to advertise themselves as a pool hall, but they blast nonstop dance-worthy music that makes it impossible to have a conservation with anyone farther than 3 inches from your face. There is no dance floor, so inevtiably some drunk couple wanders into the walkway to grope and grind as you're trying to creep past with your drink. Do you want people to dance or play pool? Make up your mind. As much as we tried to just stay with our own little group in the corner, several of our weaker males were spotted by predatory huntresses from the shadows and separated from the herd where the women fake flirted and thrust their tits into their faces while moaning "buy me a driiiiiiiiink" over and over. I originally loved this place. Recently, they stopped taking call in food orders, but because we love the pizza, we've been going in, ordering, and waiting for it. This is the second time we've ordered and waited for 30-40 mins before asking where our order is. Both times, the order never made it to the kitchen, because it was "overflowing with orders"; yet when I went to the bathroom after my 2nd water, the kitchen staff was legit chillin'; no cooking or hustling, just hanging out talking. If you're looking for good food and good service, I wouldn't bank on this spot. Fun atmosphere for a bar scene, but damn, if you sell food, maybe put the order in. If it's an "ongoing issue", that the printer isn't working in the kitchen, then fix it. They said they would comp the meal and were apologetic, but we were there for over an hour twice. I just don't know why I don't go to Blue Cue more often. Having been reintroduced to it last night, I fervently looked up the last time I checked-in here...December 2010?! Time for an updated review, fer sure :) Honestly, what brought me back to Blue Cue was the CMYE (thanks for setting that up, Alex!). And I'm glad I went, because I got to come out from behind my keyboard and actually MEET some fellow Yelpers (thanks for making that virtually painless for me, folks!). But I digress... Beyond the great Yelp folks, there were a couple of great bartenders working this night, who were helpful and funny and efficient. Great job! That's ONE reason I'll be coming back to Blue Cue. Another reason was the food...we got to sample quesadillas, nachos, onion rings, and poppers, and all were plentiful and delicious. Lastly, their Happy Hour prices are great...I had a couple generous pours of a lovely Bogle chardonnay for only $4 per glass. $4 seemed to be the going rate for just about everything the folks around me were ordering. Darn good deals all around, I'd say, and that's what will entice me come back and give Blue Cue another try :) read more

Multiple people saw the horrible treatment she gave me when asking about the taste of the drink which was horrible. telling me Hennessy is expensive! And if I am broke and poor. Was this racist? We went here November 5, 2016. My girlfriends good friend recommended this place because she goes often, but when we got there she was shocked because apparently it wasn't normal to have it like a clubby type of vibe. Come to find out it was someone's birthday and it was a Harry Potter Theme (Which was awesome!). It was mine and my girlfriends first time because we're visiting from Hawaii and met amazing people through out the night until we left. The staff was great! One particular guy stood out though with somewhat long hair, he was great all around towards the 3 of us. My only issue I had was my girlfriends friend ordered the Bacardi Mojito pitcher filled with margarita for $30 that night... but on the website the pitcher said for $20 ( I don't know). It took both of them 4 cups each to finish that pitcher. When I go to the bar to order the same thing she put into a regular sized pitcher that you see in all restaurants, so I then I asked her what's the difference between the pitcher she bought and I got? Because I poured my pitcher into my girlfriends friends pitcher and it didn't fill to the top, so the female bartender that night said the bigger one was more sweet' n sour and yours is more alcohol and I basically got ripped off it took the two of them 2 cups each to finish the pitcher I bought!! Blue Cue isn't a pool hall, it's a club. It had a total of four pool tables and some sort of weird wait system that made no sense and didn't really work. Pool halls are supposed to be seedy places, this place is far too upscale and fake to be a pool hall. It's actually a club/bar disguised as a pool hall. The wait at the bar was long, even when the club was practically empty and no one was at the bar. The bouncers were nice and dressed very well. I felt undressed compared to them. They were really nice at the door and when I left they said 'thanks, come again.' They even came by to pick up our empty drinks. There's an outdoor patio area too. read more

Great location to just chill out and catch up with friends whether playing pool or not. Has a decent outside patio and fun Facebook photobooth. I've only eaten the food as a huge event (grubcrawl) never as a small group of friends so I'll comment on that later. It takes quite a bit for your food to arrive. There is no consistency in the quality of food. My mac n cheese was pretty darn tasty. My finace's burger and fries were good. His fries had some tasty seasoning. My friend got a burger too and her fries were soggy and had no seasoning. This is your perfect "gather everyone together" hangout spot prior to heading out for whatever adventure awaits the group. It's big enough for a nice get together but also small in a way where it feels intimate. They have some booths on the side, high tops by the bar area and plenty of rooms to shoot some pools with your friends. I love how clean the pool tables are. The food is your typical bar food, nothing fancy but nice for a snack on the go. The two bartenders for the night were extremely friendly and nice. I can't help it. I love this place. I think it's because anytime I have a night of drunken debauchery Blue Cue is involved. Don't get me wrong I have been here sober and I like it just as much. Blue Cue has good food. The pizzas are thin crust and not greasy. My favorite item on the menu is their slider trio which includes 1 slider with BBQ and bleu cheese, another with jalapeño and guacamole, 1 that is an american cheeseburger. The sliders are so good sometimes I want to order two plates, but one order always fills me up. There are plenty of TVs. Service is usually pretty good. Occasionally I will have a waitress who appears to be in a cranky mood, but nothing terrible. read more

Came here on a Monday, it was closed super early for no reason. So then my friends and I decided to stop by on Tuesday night. Definitely a bro-type environment; there's a beer pong table, pool table, and just open bar. The drinks here are alright...honestly, it wasn't as strong as I anticipated. However, the bartenders are super chill and are very accommodating. I wanted water because I was super dehydrated, and they usually serve cranberry juice but the bartender was nice enough to somehow get me water. Aside from the service and atmosphere, the spacing here is really big. I love how there's a lot of space for you to move around, dance around, and just act a fool. Dropped in one afternoon wanting to practice my pool shooting and have a beverage. A little slow on the service considering it was early and only half a dozen patrons were in, but I got my drink and sat down to watch a couple playing pool. It was obvious that they were on a first date and she was inexperienced so I left them to themselves and ordered a rack for the tables on the other side of the bar. I take a soft shot, no English, and watch the ball arc across the table. I tested the table and the one next to it, both were un-level, but I moved to other one, it being a bit better. So, I spent the rest of my hour working on hard shots and having another drink, then got out of there. Not the place to play if you're serious about your game. Too bad, it has the potential to be a nice venue for pool. read more

Update: Apparently the belligerent drunk girl who assaulted us is EMPLOYED at Blue Cue. Stay classy, Blue Cue, stay classy. I came to blue cue for the first time this past Friday 4/26 to celebrate a former colleagues new job. There was one bartender named Lisa who was working the bar by herself. For this reason we all cut her some slack on the fact that her service was pretty slow. I had been there for about 2.5 hours with no issues aside from slow service because Lisa kept running to the back for a good 5 minutes after every patron she served. Despite all that I still gave her a $10 tip when I closed out my tab. It was AFTER I closed out when the real problem occurred. I walked across the bar to invite a friend outside with us for a smoke break and when I turned around I was being verbally assaulted by a "regular" who I had zero interactions with prior to this. I attempted to diffuse this situation by continuing my course outside and ignoring her belligerent tirade. That's when she decides to follow me outside and continue yelling belligerently. I decided to walk away from her AGAIN and went back inside. That's when she decided to go after another girl in our group who was outside and had to be physically blocked by my boyfriend because the bouncers were no where to be found. Our group makes their way back inside and my boyfriend is STILL blocking her from attacking people and she even swung at my boyfriend. Everybody is trying to calm this drunk "regular" down and that's when the bartender, Lisa, finally decided to step in and escort this girl outside. After that, everything was good! Up until the point the bouncer decides to show up and kick me, my boyfriend and the two other people this regular was attacking out of Blue Cue. That's when I looked over and see that this "regular" was not only allowed back inside but is standing behind the bar with the bartender, Lisa. At this point I was so over this situation, I decided to just leave. But I want management to know what happened and I also want them to know that the staff did nothing to protect me or my boyfriend from being attached and appeared to even side with the attacker. I won't be returning to Blue Cue, ever and they will never have my business again due to how poorly this situation was handled. If blue cue wants to continue to cater to their drunk regulars who try to start fights with people who were minding their own business then good luck with that business plan. read more

We came here to meet friends from Sacramento. The bar is steps up from the street and has its own lot with lots of parking. It has a cool vibe that is lively with lots of games to play like beer pong, billiards, basically anything with red cups you played in college. So it's fun if you are planning to get drunk off your butt and not notice the sticky alcohol spilling everywhere. We ordered some mac and cheese also a wrap with fries. The mac and cheese was okay. Cheesy and warm-soupy texture. The wrap did not have a flavor I liked. It was a bit bland. And fries well, are always my favorite and rarely restaurants can mess that up. Overall it is definitely a place to play games like a college dorm again. I would not come here for the food. read more

Where is the zero star option when you need one.. I don't usually write these things and when I do usually have only nice things to say...this isn't one of those reviews. My best friend and I don't usually stop for a drink anywhere but decided to come here for happy hour. We walked in and waited for about 20 minutes before we decided to walk out. Shouldn't have even stayed that long... (did I mention they had at the most ten other people in there? Not busy by any means whatsoever) -Not once were we acknowledged or helped -The female bartender in a red tank top and backwards hat and another worker were standing at another table grubbing on food in the open -One of the workers was also sipping on beer -The bartender looked in our direction several times and even walked past us when changing the tvs but still no "hello" "how's it going" "can I get anything for you ladies" , nada... I'm not one to complain but I do have standards when it comes to spending my hard earned money on establishments and there was no way I was going to or will ever spend my money here. I know I may sound a little harsh, maybe that's what places like this are like? I'm not sure but I would have at least appreciated some acknowledgement or a greeting. My business is going elsewhere Blue Cue. Maybe if you reevaluated your services and employees you'd have more stars. read more

After 9 it can get pretty packed on weekends and is hard to get a pool table. Only complaint is parking but that's a general downtown issue. read more

I try to keep it simple in places like this, and it usually turns out for the best. It is upstairs, with separate bathrooms (which, at least for the men's, are small). I've eaten the sampler plate and have been satisfied each time. I've heard their other food is pretty good, too. The mixed drinks we had, and tap beers, were also good. The last time I went, September 30, I had to have my charges corrected- I had only drinks and food on my card, and yet my group's billiards time was also put on it... At no point was my name or card ever associated with the table... If I weren't paying attention (such as if I'd had too much to drink), I could have easily been overcharged nearly $50. It was an easy fix, but an unnecessary one. Whoever was in charge of the music that night chose to play Michael Jackson in excess. When asked, it was changed, but then it moved to E40, 50-cent, and other similar music. I appreciate different styles of music, but the playlist wasn't what would I call "varied for mixed audiences". Perhaps they could get off the ipod and get a jukebox? And turn down the volume a touch- it was so loud my party had to nearly yell at each other to talk. Not very good for people who want to actually interact. Finally, for a place labeled "pool hall", there are a few issues with their tables... Primarily, the tables in the corner have a couch that limits a lot of motion for people who are playing. It's great for people who are sitting, sure, but those people are going to regularly get a cue stick or someone's butt in their face. In addition, most of the pockets on the table we played were pretty loose, which caused some playability problems. We were able to adjust our playstyles, since we realize these aren't tournament-quality tables, but at the same time a pool hall should keep their tables in better condition. It's a small area for a pool hall, made even smaller with seating choices. As long as they can change their music to better suit a mixed audience, turn it down so people can actually talk (instead of yell), and don't make egregious errors on people's tabs, I'd go back. read more

Blue Cue charged my debit card $600 for a single 4 dollar cider I purchased. I was still at the bar when I get an alert on my account that I was over drafted. I approached the bartender who admitted it was a mistake she made where she processed a 4 dollar transaction and another transaction for 596 dollars. Instead of her telling me the mistake she made (since its micros they use she actually had to type in 596 dollars, which is quite a few numbers to make a mistake, and none of them were a 4 night I add). She told me that I shouldn't be upset or worry because it would clear in 24 hours. I pointed out to her that this charge overdrafted my account and she said no it wouldn't (even though I showed her my private banking information as proof). She was rude and disrespectful and clearly didn't understand the difference between a credit card pending authorization and a debit card authorization where the funds are automatically pulled. She couldn't even say I'm sorry. Since then the transaction has still not been dropped 2 days later and I have been getting overdraft fees at 35 dollars a pop. I've emailed and called and gotten no response. During their open hours the phone will ring for 20 mins on end. I finally took the 25 minute drive up there and the bartenders told me there's nothing they can do as there owner is away for another week and a half. So in the meantime I'm left with no money, overdraft fees and no clue when it'll get reversed (if ever), I came to blue cue after every xoso game this year but after this. You'll be hard to find me walk in those doors again. UPDATE: the owner replied back to my email saying he was out of the country from the week but would get back to me upon his return. Another week since he was back went by and I never heard anything so I emailed him again looking to talk. It's now been 2 more weeks and I haven't heard anything. Clearly the owner doesn't care about rectifying situations with his patrons or discussing apologizing for the situation. read more

This is a pretty cool little spot to shoot some pool and have a couple drinks. We stumbled upon Blue Cue while out on a downtown adventure one weekend. The bar is kind of hard to spot because it is upstairs but the stairs are short. The bar is nice looking, they have one bar, it is large and clean. The bar had a speciality drink kind of like an AMF but less tasteful. This speciality drink sits out all day and tasted like it. The bartenders and rude! They act like they are doing you a favor by pouring you drinks! Are you kidding me? I hope the owner/s nip this because they are going to lose a lot of money this way. They don't engage you, they don't even look at you and they expect to get your money plus a tip. It's ridiculous. I don't think I would come here again because of the bartenders. This is the closest thing you'll find to a pool hall in downtown/midtown Sacramento. It also happens to be a consistently solid spot for grub and drinks, which makes me wonder why I don't do happy hour here more often. Blue Cue takes over a large upstairs corner building on a block known for great food and entertainment. The combination of high tops, a long bar, several couches and numerous TV's make it a favorite of mine when watching an afternoon baseball game. The pool tables are well maintained (can't say the same for many of the crooked sticks) and the ball rental policy from the bar is far better than the notoriously unreliable pay slots on the tables at other joints. If you're looking for a great excuse to visit, try their Monday night burger deal. For just $5, you get a big juicy burger and any beer on tap. It's the best beer and burger combo in town! read more

We came here last Thursday after our dodge ball game. We ordered 1 pitcher of beer and left our tab open. We decided to call it an early night and went to close out our tab. Turns out it had already been closed out for $20 by someone else. How does that happen you ask? Well the bartender had given our card to someone else. After the bar-back and other bartender gave up kind of looking for it, they told us to write our name on a receipt and the owner would call us Friday morning. Its Tuesday and we are still waiting for a call. I'm assuming the person who signed had no idea it was the wrong card and continued their drinking spree at nearby bars. We had to cancel our card and have another expedited. It was a very dull weekend as well as a huge inconvenience not having access to any money. An apology or at least an acknowledgement would have been appreciated. I'm sure the owner has chalked it up to drunk people losing their card but in reality we each had 1 beer. This was a very disappointing experience and my team will not be frequenting Blue Cue until this has been rectified or at least acknowledged. read more
