I always love the food at this place . It's a dive bar so you kinda set your expectations where they need to be. The burgers are delicious , they seemed to have recently changed the homestyle fries but they're still good. I enjoy playing the jukebox and playing a game or two of pool. The bartenders are usually very nice and don't mind having fun conversations. The last time I came here there was a rancid smell of were which was very off putting but other than that, this place is great

Pretty impressed. 3 pieces of fish and chips and slaw was $11. Fish, Onion rings and beers for 2 came to $50. Small selection of beers on tap. Full bar. Bartender works the room taking care of everyone. Small place with 8 or tables inside and about 4 outside and bar seating. Gets a little noisy when the pool game starts up.

Good customer service can really make or break an experience. There is a real "guy" ambience here. Most of the patrons were men. Lots of sports on TV and a large bar. The place is clean and well lit. The prices were pretty good as well. The fish and chips were delicious. It was fresh, piping hot and the fish was great quality no bad fishiness at all. The tartar sauce was 20/10! The fish needed salt badly though. The perfect bit was salted, with some malt vinegar and some tartar. Yum! The tacos were meh it just lacked flavor and didn't seem like the ingredients all worked. A bit dry. The sliders were also meh barely any meat. The best part was the relish. The drink was good. I think the biggest issue is the wait time for food. It was at least 30 min for food to come out and the tacos didn't come out with the other two dishes. How long can putting meat in tortillas take? I wouldn't come here on a lunch break and expect to get out on time or eat there if you're on a time crunch. I would definitely go back and try some other stuff. The sandwiches all sound amazing, and I will definitely be getting the fish and chips again.

Perfectly season with a nice crunch, and the fish was good as well. The beer on the other hand didn't taste good. I probably just got a beer I'm not interested in. I typically like pilsners and was surprised how light this beer tasted. Overall service was good and food. I would recommend coming here if you want an authentic English experience.

I can rely on Guinness on tap, or a nice selection of other European beers on tap if I'm not fancying a Guinness. The last time I was in was on St. Patrick's this week, and their food offerings were three meat eater choices. I had my heart set on one of the vegetarian pasties they used to have, but I knew it was a holiday so what was available was going to not be the regular thing. I don't come often enough to even know what's regular anymore. I don't eat meat, but I did have my Guinness so no harm done. I really like the choices of seating, between tables and chairs, the bar, booths, stools, benches, and outdoors. It can get pretty busy, but never so much that I've ever felt boxed in. There's a bit of a bottleneck to get a drink as the path to get past the bar is narrow, but staff are really great at working through those requests quickly. So, basically this is my go to if someone suggests a pub atmosphere. Every day. Ok not every day, but I had to throw that in ;-) They don't have a full bar, only wine and beer. Parking is typical East Sac, street parking, no meters. Bathrooms have character.

Maybe if they were USA or more popular teams it would have been different. There were 4 people in the couch area, it was cozy so we didn't join them, but that was were the action was. No one in the bar area where we sat was into the game Seating- We arrived around 1pm just as the game was starting. The bar was nearly empty. Two parties were there sitting at the bar. One group had around 7 people, all in A's Jersey's. The A's were playing that evening at 7pm so these people were getting the party started early. We sat on one of the couple high tops. There was a tv right above us and was impossible. To see from our angle. There ware 2 TVs above the bar. One kept going in and out due to no signal, but the other one help up. We turned our chairs to face the tv so it was a great seating arrangement. The sound was not on for the TV so you just had to follow the game visually. Food- It's a pub so it's all pub food. My husband didn't want anything fried so that eliminated the fish and chips. That left us with a salad or a burger We got the pub burger for $21. It seemed kind of steep, but you're in a tourist area so that explains it. The burger was extra juicy at medium so that was good. It did lack flavor. It does help that it had pickles on it. That gave it some flavor. The onions were flavorless, but looked grilled. The menu doesn't say it, but it comes with fries. The fries needed more salt, but dipping them in ketchup helped the flavor. Now reading other reviews it looks like we could have gotten a side salad instead of fries. I guess we could have asked, but we didn't know it came with fries so we didn't ask for a subsitute. Bathroom- They had really nice bathrooms. You didn't have to go out side to the public restrooms. That was a plus especially since my burger was extra juicy and I needed to wash them. Parking- It's all street parking out front. Old Sacramento also has two garages that aren't that far. Depending on the day and the events that are gong on you you either pay by the day or by the hour. And don't lose your ticket as then you have to pay the maximum. If you are looking for a sit down place with pub food you've found your destination. This is one of the newer restaurants in Old Sacramento that isn't a white tablecloth type of restaurant. Which was a perk, because we weren't looking for fine dining this time. Actually we are never looking for fine dining when we go to Old Sacramento. The place was very clean and put off the new vibe. It's very nicely decorated. They even have a red telephone booth, a great place for pics.

They have a great selection of gin, rum, champagne, and whiskey, and I often lean on the staff for drink suggestions because they're really good at recommending something you might not normally order. A few times now they've pointed me toward a drink that ended up being a hidden gem. I've been here a few times and it's always a great time whether you're catching up with friends or doing a date night. The food is also surprisingly good and pairs well with the cocktails. It is definitely on the pricier side, but that's part of the experience. If it wasn't for this "mission," there's a good chance I wouldn't have wandered in. I LOVE Sutter Street, but honestly I don't live nearby and don't have many reasons to come here. That said, I'm thankful for the mission and glad I dropped by. It's a super cute place and the bartender had a nice relaxed chill vibe to her. This is where I'd normally drop her name and give her kudos - but I didn't get her name. I thought her name would be on the receipt, but it wasn't! I assume her name isn't "Shift Night N" anyway, which would be weird - but that's what is listed for "server". Anyway... the burger... I liked it. I liked it a lot. I was not asked how I wanted it cooked (not expected or demanded by me) - but an observation that I toss in for comparison purposes. It was cooked to a solid medium, which is fine with me. Caramelized onions were standard - nice - but the tomato and lettuce were listed as 'optional' - and the bartender (Shift Night N) asked me if I wanted them. I opted in. The bun was above average - definitely a notch above the typical mass-produced buns often used elsewhere. I opted for sweet potato fries. They had good flavor. Personal preference-wise... I would have liked them to be cooked a smidge more. If/when I come back, I'll probably ask them to be crispy-er. Overall, thumbs up! I wouldn't hesitate to come back and try other things on the menu. #burgers
