Well I am a frequent flyer here . They have a nice ambience friendly staff . Food is ok nice place to sit and listen to music relax etc. The have a wide selection of coffee drinks , smoothies beer wine and kombucha plus soups salads and sandwiches. The atmosphere is very colorful with their tables and outdoor seating. Maybe 20 tables altogether open to a decent time nowadays 7 pm. Give them a holler read more

Service was friendly and interior was so cozy and fun but drinks were not good so we didn't even finish them. I got the vanilla oat milk latte - no vanilla taste and the espresso was so acidic. Fiancé got a hot chai which did not taste like chai at all - more like warm milk and a sprinkle of nutmeg on top. read more

They have a very large menu. I ordered a latte and people watch. The space is very fun and the seating is vibrantly painted. I ordered a latte and it was delicious. The pasties are brought in from outside vendors and some are from Batches Bakehouse. read more

Second time here and this time I sat for a toasted Bagel w/cream cheese and a coffee - $8.50 Place is always hopping, at least in the morning hours. Mostly small deuce (2 seater tables) w/outside seating as well. Very kind and efficient service. Great strong coffee. The best toasted bagel w/butter and cream cheese I have had in this town. Big and fresh Asiago Bagel, toasted perfectly. Really appreciated the "whipped" cream cheese. All the food looks great, but will for sure be back for breakfast. All the breakfast sandwiches also sound really good. If you are in the area and can find parking, give them a try, I don't believe you will be disappointed. read more

Walking and talking for miles to find a place to sit and drink, my friend and I came upon Blue Danube. I ordered a Purple Rain smoothie and a Yerba Mate tea for my friend. The smoothie was yummy and the tea came with a cute teapot that can be refilled. Having returned from Taipei recently where many restaurants kick out customers after 1.5-2 hours, Blue Danube lets us sit for however long we want. This place has an old coffee shop vibe, warm and comforting. read more

Good place to sit and catch up with your mates. Didn't feel rushed at all....limd of reminded us of hippie vibes. Outside was kind of sketchy with multiple homeless people asking us for money. Inside it's tea and coffee with plenty of selections. Great neighborhood coffee/tea house. read more

This is my second time eating at Blue Danube. First time here, I got the breakfast bagel which has scrambled eggs, tomatoes, cheddar, and bacon. All of the components were nicely done, although it is a tad pricey at $13.50, given that the bagel isn't too loaded with filling. The second time here I came with my uncle and partner. My partner got the granola with yogurt, which came topped with blueberries. She really enjoyed the granola and yogurt, which was reasonably priced. My uncle got the tuna sandwich, which he really enjoyed. He particularly thought the bread and homemade tuna salad tasted fresh and tasty. I got the rosemary chicken sandwich, which was also very good. I really liked the soft roll, which was soft but held its integrity, as well as the cayenne mayo which gave the sandwich a slight kick. The chicken was grilled nicely as well. My only negative was that I wished the sandwich were bigger, as I was left a bit hungry. Overall a good place for a solid, reliable meal. read more

I ordered the French toast and it was absolutely terrible. Besides the fact it had no flavor - it was like chewing on a hockey puck. It was so crispy and bad I couldn't even imagine coming to this establishment again. read more

Maybe I'm ranking this lower than I usually would because wifi is important imo...you have to pay $2 for 2 hours of wifi on top of paying for a drink or food. Imho, that's a pretty wild policy in this economy and lots of people go to coffee shops in order to work or study. I can't even say that the coffee, ambience, or food was good enough to warrant returning or going out of your way to try it - the coffee was weak, relatively watery, and the bagel melt was flavorless. I also felt bad that the door also kept opening and people who were cold had to keep getting up to close it. But, it could be a convenient place to just hang out or read or something if you're already in the area. The cashier was also nice and helpful and the price was not too high so that bumps it up a star. Overall: 1/5 read more

A neighborhood coffee shop in Inner Richmond. Small shop and by small, I mean small to the point where at times, you have to ask whether someone is in line or waiting for their order. Nice vibes but if you plan to do work here, be advised it's $2 to use the WiFi and not exactly the fastest connection. I do commend their vanilla lattes and service. Waited no longer than 5 mins and tasted great. Perhaps not the best to do work, but if you're in the neighborhood it's a great place to swing by for a to go coffee. read more

This little cafe is conveniently located near various businesses such as restaurants, shops, and banks. This cafe is a nice place to sit indoors or outdoors and have a drink and/or snacks while having a little chat or get some work done. The line wasn't long and went by pretty fast since the service was fast. I got the Chai Latte, which was pretty disappointing. It didn't have a strong taste and tasted pretty watered down. If they didn't tell me what it was, I would not have guessed Chai. It really didn't taste like one. Overall, ambiance and service good, but need to work on the Chai Latte. read more

This place is a local gem. I've come here several times. The tables all have drawings on them from artists. Very unique. Today, I got a vanilla latte w/almond milk as I was waiting for a friend of mine. Unfortunately, it was more of a latte & I didn't taste any vanilla. It was good but I like the taste of more milk or vanilla, than coffee. The guy behind the counter was really nice. Great place to get together with friends or solo. As far as food, my go to is the California wrap w/no capers! The salad is also really tasty. Obviously, I recommend this cafe as I've been here several times! read more

I think this coffee shop is the very definition of hipster vibes. It's a small place but the place is packed and busy. There's some out door seating areas and the inside is packed with some tables a couch and a bookshelf with apparently a bunch of journals that people can apparently write or draw things in, which is pretty unique and cool thing to see. The tables are also decorated with some comic book themed things like Batman and the Hulk. Coffee and tea are also fine, but it's the environment that I find the most intriguing and awesome here. Check it out for yourself, next time I stop by here I need to get one of their smoothies, I came in late last time and they were past the smoothe making time. read more

Recommended as a "classic" SF coffee, Blue Danube was exactly that. A good amount of seating inside and outside, friendly service, and yummy coffee. The menu is pretty big too because they also offer smoothies and juices. I got an iced vanilla latte with oat milk. The coffee blend was tasty and the vanilla flavoring was great, not too sweet. Overall, a nice coffee spot to check out. read more

I love the overall vibe and aesthetic of this place! The art on the walls is a really great way to feature and support local art. I had a breakfast bagel and mocha mint. Both tasted great but nothing amazing or notable! I came here to get some work done but had a few qualms. One, the WiFi is 2 dollars for 2 hours for a pretty slow connection. Two, it was extremely hot inside the cafe with no ventilation besides the front door. Not sure if this is because of the kitchen in the back but it was really uncomfortable. That being said nice to stop in if you are on clement for a stroll or the Sunday market but wouldn't try to work here again. read more

This is a very busy cafe. Everytime I'm here it's a long wait, 10-40mins long depending. It has a classy cafe feel but super small and crowded. Always ask if people are in line to order cause some are waiting for food and drinks. I've never had the food but the drinks are often hit or miss because it's busy. On slower days it's great and when it's rushed the flavor isn't entirely there. It's a good spot to grab a coffee or tea. I'll be back to try some food. read more

A solid cafe in the inner Richmond. I had an almond milk iced chai and a bagel with hummus. The. Bagel was great, the chai was more milk than chai. During prime hours, seating can be hard (also speaks to the cafe's popularity). I didn't see a ton of outlets, if you're someone wanting to work on a laptop. The staff were incredibly nice and gracious! read more

Great ambiance, the place was crowded on Sunday and the walls filled with colorful art. The line was short, but the wait was ok. I ordered a mint mocha and my friend ordered a caramel latte. I think both drinks tasted good, although the coffee wasn't very strong. Would come again, for a sweet treat. Not necessarily if my goal is to drink good coffee. (In my opinion, wanting a sweet drink is worth coming here!) read more

Coffee could be better, but they give you a decent larger portion for what you order and for the price. And the people at the front are always super nice as well too and help create a chill vibe, so I can't knock off too many points. Mainly love this place because it's one of the endangered cafés that let you buy a coffee and post up to work on some thing on your laptop/read a book/journal. read more

Met up with a friend in the Inner Richmond and she suggested this neighborhood coffee shop. The restaurant has menu tables inside and a patio area out front at and 9:30 on a Saturday morning it was about a third full. The menu board has beverages of smoothies, juices, coffees and teas and for food, breakfast items, bagels, salads, sandwiches and small eats. For those wanting alcoholic beverages, they offer beer and wines. I got a California Wrap, a grilled flour tortilla with lox, steamed eggs, cream cheese, capers and avocado and it came with a cup of fruit. It was a tasty breakfast sandwich with a good amount of lox. I also got a cup of house hazelnut coffee. The restaurant always got a good amount of customers and it got up to about three-quarter full the time we were there. A nice neighborhood coffee shop. read more

I have visited this cafe multiple times and was always impressed with their coffee. It tastes great and their macchiato is a really small one - which is how it is supposed to be. One time, I had ordered the french toast and it was so delectable that I was able to finish it in one go - it had the crunchy texture due to the almonds and also the caramelised apples added a great flavor :) It is definitely one of those quaint, calm cafes in Inner Richmond and I love spending time here. I would recommend sitting outside or near the window (which is my favorite spot), when the weather is good to enjoy some people watching (as it is right on clement street) ! read more

Quirky, cozy coffee shop with lots of vintage flair. We happened upon Blue Danube while visiting Inner Richmond and decided to stop in for lunch. Seemingly popular stop for students and digital nomads. Around the time we got here (Friday afternoon), it was packed. We just barely grabbed a seat on the couch before even more people poured in. Service is fast, staff are friendly. CALIFORNIA WRAP: The capers make this way too salty... And the sour cream (?) gushes out in a warm spurts in every bite. Textures are not great. Avocado is fine. IMO warm egg and cold lox do not go together. This would've been better with one or the other. I could only eat half. It does come with a small cup of fruit, some pieces room temperature... THE HULK: Actually pretty refreshing! The orange juice & greens are fresh, blended well. Restrooms are available for customers. Pretty clean and readily stocked with necessities. read more

Was recommended this place by a friend and I have to say, I was a bit disappointed! I ordered a turkey sandwich, and while it was good, it didn't blow me away! You order at the counter, they call out your number and then you get your food & seat yourself. Service was okay! They weren't mean but they weren't super friendly. The coffee was just okay as well. Spent my morning catching up with a friend and the other place we planned on was way too busy. This spot had the perfect amount of customers, but was moving the line along quickly. I noticed that some tables had a teapot and tea cups which made the place feel very homey. My friend got a mocha and I got a cappuccino. The place is fairly priced and had tables inside and outside. Mocha was great, but I got food poisoning from their breakfast bagel. I have coffee and eggs almost everyday and I didn't eat even half the bagel sandwich and felt strangely full even though I was hungry. Was very sick an hour and half later. This was also my first meal of the day. It's a small space and I don't think they have a proper size kitchen perhaps to safely serve these food items uncontaminated? read more

Open cafe right by the Richmond farmers market (sundays). Unfortunately, it's $2 for 2hrs of wifi per device, so not an ideal study spot. But a great spot to chat, read, and relax! Got the 12oz Cafe Au Lait ($3.75) and a Rosemary Chicken Sandwich Combo ($15.50). Au lait was perfect. Love this local coffee shop. Inside is like a vintage thrift store with antique mirrors and eclectic art. Has a lot of personality. It's a very cozy feel. They even serve your tea with a tea pot and cups. Great spot to do some work, have a coffee chat, or just takeout lunch. Menu is on the pricier side. They have some delicious smoothies and sandwiches though! The rosemary chicken sandwich is insanely good. Veggies tasted so fresh, the chicken was tender and juicy. The creamy chipotle sauce really pulled it all together. Sides are included with your pick of salad or chips. Drinks are not bad either. The Blue Danube is my favorite coffee shop in the entire city. Despite living an hour away by bus, I eagerly make the trip just to experience this amazing shop. The food is consistently incredible, I especially love the bagels with all of the veggies. Their coffees are clearly crafted with love and attention to detail and the staff here make an effort to know their customers. I also suggest buying their Neapolitan espresso beans to self brew at home if you sadly can't make it here every day. When you can come in person atmosphere of The Blue Danube is warm and inviting, making it a perfect spot to relax or study like my partner loves to do. The staff is always friendly and welcoming, adding to the overall positive experience. Although this doesn't impact my five-star rating, I do wish the space were larger. Its popularity means it's often busy, and finding a seat can be a challenge. However, the quality of the food and coffee and the enjoyable experience more than makes up for this minor inconvenience. read more

Their mocha was spot on delicious! I also got their pear-adise juice and that too was a total banger. This is a sweet little coffee shop for meeting up with people. The space is smaller and intimate. I ordered an iced vanilla latte here. The cafe was cute, although oddly warm (won't fault the restaurant though since it's probably not regularly this way). I like that it closes late at around 7, so it's perfect for students looking for a place to study! However, I didn't love the coffee. The flavoring wasn't mixed well despite using a stirrer several times. The separation posed issues when I was halfway done with the drink, and the drink became almost entirely vanilla syrup. I can't speak for their hot drinks, so maybe this issue is posed for my order specifically. Overall, it's a fine coffee shop, but I do think there are other options if the late closing time doesn't appeal to you. read more

The good: It's a coffeehouse but they have a lot of smoothie and juice options (I'd say more options than their coffee drinks). The interior had a hippie-esque vibe to me. The interior is eclectic with furniture and decorative pieces that are from all types of different periods and styles. They have outdoor dining spots and a little parklet with tables and chairs so it's a nice spot to take your furry friend. I tired the pear-adise drink (pear, pineapple and ginger) and thought it was unique, refreshing and tasty. I liked how fresh everything tasted and how it didn't taste like it was made from concentrate, syrups or flavor additives. My drink was made pretty quickly. The bad: I wish there were more fun latte options. It's almost $7 for a juice or smoothie but that's pretty standard these days for that type of drink. The interior feels a bit cramped. Walk on in, order some grub, show your vax card and pick your table. Do you prefer a scenic landscape, a Batman or Superman logo, the UK Jayhawk, or maybe a couch. You can sit inside (with vax proof) or outside. The world is your oyster, or in this case your table selection. This is a regular stop for us, particularly on Clement St Farmer Market mornings. Coffee/Latte/Cappuccino are all good. They have a nice selection of juices and smoothies. For breakfast/brunch the egg dishes are well made with notable variety for a small place and they have solid oatmeal and the standard bagels, etc. For lunch they offer sandwiches, salads, and other options - again with a selection large enough that I am sure you will find something to your liking. And - they have beer and wine too! The staff is friendly and helpful, and I've seen them put up with a lot of indecisive customers or overly inquisitive (IMHO) patrons ("Are the eggs cage free?", " are the salad greens locally sourced", etc.). I really like this place. The only reason for 4 stars vs 5 - the laptop campers. Regularly when you come in you won't be able to find a seat due to people sitting there on their laptop with an empty juice cup that clearly was finished long ago. Having the outside park-let seating has helped, but it is still a problem. read more

Upon entering the coffee shop, you'll see a good amount of seating, but for the times we have gone, the majority of the seats are taken. It is definitely a variety of people socializing, working, reading books, or just hanging out. Parking is metered or street parking, and we haven't had any issue finding parking! It's also in an area where you can shop around (across the street) if you want to grab a bite as well. Our go to orders include the Mocha Dream Espresso Cloud and the Nitro Mango, but we have also gotten the Hojicha Cloud, which is amazing as well. We love the thickness and flavors of the cold foams - you cannot go wrong with any of the cloud drinks. As popular as this place has become, it truly is worth the trip! Very savory, not too heavy either. It was mostly just bread though. Definitely coming back to try their other drinks when I'm in the area!

Honestly not much going on with the drink, but it does taste lighter in general. Crazy have to pay $1.50 more to add on this milk. Overall, its alright. I do like the natural lighting coming into the shop, but nothing too special.

Initial sip was good, but after a few sips we noticed it's a bit thick. Definitely not the kind of drink to get when you're quenching of thirst. The strawberry puree was good but quality of matcha was the biggest con. Even before trying the drink, I could tell the matcha had a very DULL color (the one you get when either the matcha expires or when it's been too exposed to oxygen causing quality to lower exponentially). This was most disappointing because this gave the very bitter metallic aftertaste with every sip. For a shop that specializes in matcha, I hope they take quality into account more when making their drinks. The cafe doesn't have much comfortable seating, a few small tables outside and a bench indoor.

I am tired of the whole sing-songy quality of text. I was in a course the other day where they could have done a bang-up job with diagrams and they insisted on elaborate modes of representing structures using the oft helpless form of linear sentences. This place deserves something in the 3.x range if you are being objective. But this is one of those little places that promises something (and sometimes delivers). As if there were cobble-stone streets outside or someone were about to publish something worthwhile nearby (nearby will be used or implied 3 X in this articlette). So maybe a small way of revolting is to make a nested list (almost a diagram). * GOOD ~ Unique atmosphere: Ineffable quality due to combination of positives (see below) - Wood and old point overcoming the dingy carpet - Large windows thrown open in Summer (= Spring & Fall in SF) ~ People quality - Denizens seem to tend toward the informed, with clever(er) books in hand - People actually reach out to talk with you or smile occasionally - Folks staffing the counters seem no-nonsense & pleasantly-jaded ~ Range of things to push into your mouth - Strong espresso (quality is good as I recall, returned after an absence) - Alcohol: Sangria (and some other non-descript wines and beer) - Tiny chewy sandwiches with cured meat + essence (fig, pesto, etc) ~ Location - Right "there" (optimal location) - Lots of other things "right there" (nearby) - When the windows are open, the world you want rests at the sidewalk * BAD ~ Ambience - Who forgot to vacuum? - Wood floor would solve the carpet problem & perfect the charm? - Why does a place with charm run sports on TV? I really like the Blue Danube Coffee House. It has a real homemade feel to it. The baristas are nice, and often one of the owners is staffing the bar, which I always prefer to the corporate blanks you get even at cafes like Peet's. They have a nice selection of food, and beer and wine. I am not sure where the name came from, but it is distinctive at least and doesn't pun on coffee beans or grounds (Bean Bag, Bean There, Royal Grounds, Sacred Grounds, Progressive Grounds, Higher Grounds, etc.). I only have two gripes: (1) because of the wind and table placement, sometimes outdoor smokers might as well be indoor smokers, and (2) the coffee is not organic or fair trade, and given that other coffeehouses have awesome organic and fair trade coffee (Cofffee to the People http://www.yelp.com/biz/HZThElQfFLIqGc8ZVdRh7g?hrid=tu59hqMkOsqHigxgPwzEvw), I would think this cafe could too. read more

Although the place can get a little on the dirty side some times, I used to love going there during my free time, especially in the summer when it's nice out and they open their ginormous windows. The coffee tastes great here and their sandwiches and salads are very good! What I like best about this place is their public journal that anyone can write in. They save these things and put them in a bookshelf. I think that is so awesome. Sometimes, you will read weird things, and sometimes you will read funny things... but the whole concept is so unique and fun to me. Anyway... all in all, I'm sad that I moved away, because otherwise I'd be going there every weekend just to hang out and have some ME time with my macbookpro and coffee in hand!! read more

I stopped here randomly for a quick grab and go breakfast. I ordered a brownie with a hand-squeezed apple juice (yes, apples), which was very different and interesting. The apple juice really felt like drinking apples and not just concentrate like you get from most drinks such as Motts. It was very unique and had an interesting taste to it, although it was quite pricey for this hand squeezed juice ($4.25). The brownie itself was alright--it was dense and had a lot of chocolate flavor in it which is pretty typical of the brownies I typically like.
