Friendly service on a weekend morning! I stopped by Matcha Half Cafe and tried one of their lattes, which was well made. The espresso had a nice depth to it without tasting bitter, and the milk tied everything together into something cohesive. Love the chill vibes of this place!

The dirty chai was just ok. Cute vibes. The cappuccino was really good. Super cute spot

11am Tuesday: The cafe is situated between Western Addition & NOPA, & the edge of Haight Ashbury, serving the locals, no tourists I could see, far enough from Haight & Divisadero street grunge. Like most cafes in the hood, there's a touch of the 70s, heyday of hippy esthetic. Inside the tall ceiling space is local art & the usual laptop village. Outside is a sidewalk wide enough to accommodate 6 cafe tables, no expensive parklet needed. I consulted the menu board & chose the closest thing to avocado toast. Behold the Avo, watermelon radish, raw onion, chili flakes, (added bacon) on a toasted everything bagel. (They only have everything bagels). The combo made for a tasty meal. The raw onions & thin layer of avocado spread kinda made the sandwich taste more lunch than breakfast. Purely subjective. It's hard to find a decent bagel in San Francisco which is a mystery given all the NYC transplants. This bagel is in the top 5 IMO. I will definitely return to sample one of the many custom coffees & whatever is in those green drinks. Loved the vibe, mostly soft rock & the ability to linger reading my NY Times. Yes, I'm a good citizen, left when all the tables got full. Support Local !

Matchy-matchy! I came here with two of my girlfriends to catch up on life and we all ordered the Matcha tea latte with oat milk which was warm, not too sweet, but enough caffeine to get us through the rest of the day to run errands. The cafe is cute with indoor and outdoor seating and it seems that the place is frequented by the local neighbors, which I find very quaint. There are food items you can order but we opted to just stick with our teas during our catch up. The service is fairly quick despite there being a line and we were able to secure a table inside since it was a bit chilly when we went. I love neighborhood cafes like this. It creates this wonderful feeling of community and belonging!

This was good unique breakfast. Loved the mixture of ingredients in these sandwiches. I swear this cafe was trying to follow the OG Starbucks method with how badly they messed up our names (Iven and Kwen). I enjoyed both items, the breakfast sandwich would've better good with a breakfast sausage instead of ham IMO. I would go again. My friend would too I think but he was going through a rough day at the time 4.2/5

    uninspired and burnt (current crew)

This was my go to spot even though it's nowhere near me. Good atmosphere, great art and stained glass, killer flowers around the front patio, usually friendly staff that remembers your name with a smile. Great espresso art, and tasty food options. The newer crew doesn't bother to learn names any longer (even if they've seen me half a dozen times), is not very engaging, doesn't pay attention to details (like for here vs to go), and isn't making the consistent high quality product I had come to expect. Uninspired over cooked espresso drinks, hot sandwiches with cold middles. Let's just say it takes a lot for me to not finish my coffee - I didn't finish the last two I've had here. The owner is there at times and is friendly but quiet. I would have posted to him directly rather than posting here but he didn't respond when asked and their website isn't working. I will likely go less often if again. It may be best to wait for a changing of the crew which seems somewhat regular at cafes, and hope the new ones are a return to their previous greatness.

Iced matcha with house made almond milk

Came on a Saturday around noon and it was pretty crowded inside! Line wasn't too long and moved fast, but drinks took a while to make. I got the iced matcha with house made almond milk. The almond milk is very unique and interesting, I'm not sure if I would get it again because it's pretty nutty and grainy but I'm glad I tried it! Honestly couldn't tell how the matcha was, the almond milk made up most of the flavor in the drink. There are a few tables to sit at inside but definitely limited space and feels a little tight. I wouldn't prefer to do work here, also because the lighting is a bit dim inside.

This place is super cute and has fun games like chess and checkers to play. I just got an 8oz mocha which was a lil too rich and maybe dark chocolate for me. The service was nice. I'd try this spot again and maybe hang here, just didn't like the mocha. Nothing bad with it tho, just lil rich for me Mocha - 6/10

Love this place! Super fast and really nice ppl. They have WiFi too so there's always a group of laptop workers sitting in/outside!

One of my favorite cafes in SF! Matching Half has coffee, drinks, pastries, sandwiches, and muesli bowls - all of which have wowed me. The baristas are always very nice. The interior is very cute and charming, but there's not a ton of seating inside. If you manage to snag a table, there's also free WiFi! Food - vegan carrot muffin: this muffin wowed me!! It was sweet and had great texture (some nuts and sugar). I would've never guessed that it was vegan. - avoradish bagel: soo delicious! radish, egg, and avocado is such a great combo. - pesto chicken ciabatta: a decent sized sandwich with a generous amount of filling, so tasty! Drinks I've tried - cold brew: smooth and strong - chai latte: delightfully spicy and strong

This is one of those corner neighborhood cafés in an obscure place. It's nice to get off the beaten path of busy Divisadero. I like how they serve coffee in pretty blue mugs. I always hate going to a sit-down place that has paper cups. They are the same company as Muesi on Union so they offer many different muesli bowls. I wish they stayed open later, 3pm seems like such an early time to close. It used to be open till 6 or so before Covid, hopefully they will change that back eventually.

Cold Brew + Honey Cinnamon Latte

Hmmm, I have my confusions about this place LOL. We came here Saturday morning and it was significantly busy but I don't understand the hype here... like maybe we ordered the wrong thing? I got the Honey Cinnamon Latte with a Sunrise Bowl and my boyfriend got a Cold Brew with a Bacon Egg Ciabatta. Everything tasted very average. Vibe-wise, it gives local cafe energy - there seem to be a lot of families, couples, and students that stop by. I think the interior is very clean and nature-esque, which is very appealing. It is a nice spot to catch up with friends or study/work as they also have wifi. There are quite a few seats as well so that is nice.

My favorite local coffee shop! High quality coffee and matcha. Nice for here cups available to sit in if you ask. Staff is always friendly. Great space to sit and chat with a friend or work for a couple hours. Outdoor seating in particular is nice when the sun hits and always pretty flowers around.

I really like the latte here but 1) it's slower so you have to be prepared to wait 2) it costs a whole dollar for oat milk

I asked a passing waitress how long was the wait--(30 minutes she said confidently). I had ZERO faith in that estimate. I was wrong. About EVERYTHING. The Host was a genius. Our waitress was a royal. Her serving team was the Kentucky Derby of thoroughbreds racing to place the silverware, condiments, used dishes, and refilled coffee going. The food tasted Michelin level. I can SAY that because we had eaten dinner at an actual Michelin rated restaurant the night before. (No Yelp rating needed because they ABSOLUTELY deserved it= NARI) I had a FRIED French Toast BECAUSE it cannot sit waiting to be served. My daughter had Eggs Benedict and the granddaughter had fresh fruit, fresh squeezed OJ in an ADULT glass (because she is a Big Girl now). While we paid our tab we heard a woman scream "I'm giving this restaurant a ONE STAARR REVIEW on YELP because of this WAIT!!!" OMG I thought someone had been ROBBED--but..on THIS Mother's DAY..it was only a spoiled young lady with poor manners. For me...now at a point in life that WAITING anywhere for anything is a PERCENTAGE of TIME I have LEFT to live...this breakfast was easily worth the time that it cost in human terms. Go any time you got a Mom, Grandma, Dad, offspring, first date or best friend you want to share a moment in time with early in the day over food and drink. No waiting worth mentioning. Thanks

Today is a great day to give this place the recognition it deserves!…read moreMy hubby & I have been coming here for a couple of years now & I don't know why I haven't done a review of my wonderful experiences in the past and especially now?!! :)) Today we came for a late lunch but we came on time before they close around 2pm..actually the last call to order food! I'm glad we got there!! The sweet hostess..Crystal Gayle..took down our name..we didn't wait long & got a table where are awesome server Thomas took our order! My hubby got the Fried Egg with avocado & bacon along with their signature plow potatoes with ice tea! I ordered the Scrambled Eggs with shiitake mushrooms..sweet corn & goat cheese..side of buttered toast & their amazing coffee! Love their coffee coz it's always good there! We shared their yummy delicious biscuit and that sweet butter! So So good I can't get enough of it! :)) That's if you're a butter person which I'm All About..a Butter Girl! This place isn't very big but I love the ambience & the coziness of it! It's like eating in the presence of your own kitchen! With great hard working..happy employees ready to serve hungry people like us! We're never disappointed leaving after my hubby & I eat there! So try this fabulous place! Good food.. 90 minutes on a Sunday - you put your name down, can leave but need to be back or they will skip…read moreyour name and no texting or anything. I actually don't mind that- almost half the people were not around and it made the wait go faster. But I was a bit annoyed they sat us at a counter without asking- it was fine but we were expecting a table and would have probably rather wait a little longer for one. They only asked about inside vs outside and we said either was fine but no indication that we needed to mention we wanted a table. Most places seem to give you the heads up and make sure it was fine. Oh well. Everything sounded great and "The Plow" included 2 lemon ricotta pancakes, 2 eggs, pork sausage (you can also get chicken apple sausage links or bacon), and potatoes. The one nice thing of the counter is you get to watch them make everything and it is so organized and efficient. Food was solid. The wait went by pretty quick and wasn't a factor for me. I thought the pancakes were just okay- with all the hype I guess I expected them to be amazing but I honestly make better lemon ricotta pancakes (LOL). I think they needed a lot more lemon zest, maybe a touch of sugar, and the salted butter sounds great but added literally nothing. Maybe it was an off day and they weren't bad my any means but definitely nothing special. Similar thoughts on the pork sausage which was maybe slightly overcooked and the eggs which were a little under seasoned and I prefer mine a bit runnier. The potatoes were excellent, I liked those a lot and their hot sauce is very good too. $27 for the plate which seems a bit high but it's brunch in SF and it's nice they have the option to get the savory stuff but also a couple pancakes. And considering a single pancake is $7.50 it seems like a much better option to get the plate (overall all their sides are almost laughably priced ordered a la carte). I will say they use nice ingredients and a lot of the same producers I try to support in my own shopping/cooking as well as the same type of practice like pasture raised eggs. That in itself makes me feel good supporting them. I'd consider coming back but would request to sit outside and enjoy the vibes, definitely get something with potatoes, and maybe some hot sauce to go. Three and a half stars, I rounded up for now and will re-evaluate after another visit.
