Dear Blue Thanks for being a great quiet place to go to get my work done. It's not only quiet but you are generous with the outlets and seating seems to always be available. Whenever I go to nearby Starbucks I am always standing and waiting for seats. Not with you. Your drinks seem slightly pricey but hey you got some good ones. My recommendation? Get the HULK but replace juice with soy milk. Trust me its splendid. Try it. If you like it hit Useful :P The lighting is a bit dim for my taste but I understand its to have a certain cafe feel. I think the wifi should be longer esp since there are always seats in here anyway. If I had to camp out to work on something the limited wifi could be bothersome. But hey.. Thanks for being a great alternative to the nearby coffee chains. I will return again..

Came to this place thinking id help the independent coffee shops rather than starbucks or peets which are just down the street. Walked in and saw a bunch o people. Was able to get a table in the middle so of course no outlet plugs near by. Looked around and only saw one in the whole place! Get with technology. Can't study without a laptop and laptops need juice! So I looked at the menu and they have some interesting items 25 cent oreos 5.95 nutella banana sandwich Spinach in a smoothie On the walls they have pretty Nice art work. Two computers in the front to check websites and what not. Probably after your battery dies from no outlet. Came on a Monday night and a band came to perform from Portland oregon. The singer had a wide range of vocals from rock to yodel to opera. Service was just okay. Ordered a strawberry Italian soda. They saw we had laptops but didn't offer the internet code. We had to ask and wait in line to get it. What a hassle. But once online it was fast enough to stream tv shows. Only lasted two hours before session expired and you had to pay for it The lady is a real jerk about giving out Internet codes. Bought two drinks and had two laptops but she only gave us one code. Hellloooo starbucks has free Internet. You gotta compete with big corporations. But no. So forget this tiny place. Never again

Food, Coffee and Alcohal. Sofa seating as well. What more can you ask for?

I just stopped by to get a quick cup of coffee. Looked at the menu and all coffee items were relatively cheap. $2-4 dollars. I got a Single Americano with Hazelnut syrup. So yummy. They're espresso is good quality. The space is large enough with several tables and sofa seating. I was only there for a moment, but I could see myself chilling there with my laptop doing some work. The furniture could use some updating. Maybe just be reupholstered. 3.5 stars.

They have a new owner now, quality wise it is pretty much the same the other one (some improvements). To sum up: this still is one of the Best in Alameda if you want a place to Study or use a laptop/Pad in peace. It is mostly quite; good music& free Wi-Fi; it has 20+ individual tables. Families, sane and educated people frequent the place. Lots of them spend a good amount of hours there. I found that most places like Peet's or Starbucks have not enough chairs, and too much in&out (thus noisy). The Quality of coffee/food is good. Disclose: I needed to study like a Super Nerd (say 8-12 hours a day); and found this was, by far, the best coffee to study. Ending up going there everyday for a few weeks before the test. ***(passed the test :) Highly recommend.

Who doesn't love a good peppermint latte on a chilly winter's day? Pretty good nosh, decent prices and a totally chill vibe. Besides, where else do you see old-timers hanging out on laptops and playing chess? Classic.

I like coming to Blue Danube when I need a change of scenery from Starbucks; also to get away from the high schoolers. I like the drinks at Starbucks better but it gets quite noisy from the blenders and it's harder to get a seat. The staff at the Blue Danube are very friendly and it's much larger and cozier compared to Starbucks. The ambiance is very open and inviting. The coffee and tea selection are pretty good but I do miss my Gingerbread Lattes with Cinnamon Dolce Sprinkles at Starbucks. Overall, cool place to work or catch up on a book. They have free wifi and lots of seating and a few couches. They also have BEER & WINE! I

Needed a place to get some work done, but wanted to avoid the crowd at the local Starbucks. I've always passed by the Blue Danube so I figured why not give it a try. Honestly, I quite enjoyed the ambiance of the place. It was extremely quiet and cozy. There were only a handful of people there, all absorbed into their own work. It's the type of place where you know If you got up to use the bathroom, you wouldn't have to be afraid of someone stealing your stuff. Also, the people look nice enough that if you ask them to watch your stuff for a while, I'm sure they wouldn't mind. Overall, it's a really nice place to study or get some work done with minimal distractions. I ordered a vanilla latte, which wasn't anything out of the ordinary, but what I appreciated about the drink was that the star was really the espresso, as opposed to other places where the drink starts tasting overly sweet as the drink begins to cool down. I don't mind that you need to purchase something for the wifi, but the only downside is that the code only lasts two hours, which is understandable, but inconvenient if you're in the middle of something.

I hadn't been to my old stomping grounds of Alameda for quite some time. My friend and fellow Yelper, Arlene B. and I met up for lunch earlier...but decided to get out of the rain and warm up. We strolled into the Blue Danube Coffee House and was genuinely taken back by how cool this place was, and is a legit coffee house! From the cool color pallet to the wood grain floors this place has a really cool vibe and rustic decor. And since I'm not in touch with all of the double shot, with whip triple swirl double curl with a twist of sumthin' coffee lingo. The barista was totally down to earth, and spoke to me in plain coffee language that I could understand without an interpreter. So with that said, I'll be adding the Blue Danube to my "must come again" list!

So we got an extra drink for free. Trying the iced latte, it was pretty disappointing lol. I thought it would be similar to like a Hawaiian style latte with macadamia milk, but it was a lot lighter than I thought. It was definitely very nutty, but it also just tasted like water down latte. Honestly not much going on with the drink, but it does taste lighter in general. Crazy have to pay $1.50 more to add on this milk. Overall, its alright. I do like the natural lighting coming into the shop, but nothing too special.

It's located at the filthy corner of 4th and Clara, which made the outside smell of urine. Fortunately the cafe itself is pretty clean, which is a nice escape from the street. I ordered an Americano and my friend got one of their $8+ lattes, which were fine, but nothing special. My biggest gripe was the service and absolute scorn of the customer. My friend and I sat at the counter basically in a staring contest with the woman behind the counter, who just stared right back. After some 30 seconds, we finally flagging her down to place our order. After turning around the drinks suspiciously quickly, my friend and I sat down to catch-up in the empty cafe. Before long, the barista pumps up the volume, increasing higher and higher every 5 minutes or so, as if to signal to us that our time was up. I asked her to turn down the volume, which she tuned down from an 11 to a 7, but minutes later it continued to creep up, like the snooze setting of an alarm clock coaxing you to wake up - except in this case, to get out. Ultimately, the volume got unbearable and we finally threw in the towel and got out of there to let the barista enjoy her music. Hmm, I don't believe I've ever had matcha soft serve before. It wasn't what I expected. I thought maybe it would be gritty and bitter. The shop itself is tiny and resembles a Japanese tea house. It has ordering kiosks, a pickup booth, and only four stools along the front window. My friend and I grabbed two stools up against the wall. My stool wobbled a bit. As more customers entered, the shop filled up quickly. I like the place, but it's a bit small. Early grey crepe cake- if you like earl grey tea and crepe cake this would be a strong contestant. The tea flavor was immense and I liked how the layered cream was airy and a bit foamy that makes the earl grey cream the main character of the cake. Passion fruit - really good!! The passion fruit flavor was deep and strong with real seeds in the cream. It has a very slight hint of tangy and a very well done flavor profile! Sesame basque - if you like a creamy basque cheesecake and sesame then this would be wonderful. For me, basque cheesecake usually isn't my go-to as I like something more light and airy, but the black sesame was very rich and tastes almost a bit savory. Flavor profile is a bit neutral and neither too sweet or savory. Pandan sponge cakes- pandan flavor stands out and I love how they use coconut flesh in between the layers. It's pretty creative! There's texture (soft pandan sponge cake + crunchy fresh coconut ) in this cake which is interesting, but when you cut the cake it might fall apart. I would say this cake plays more with texture and creativity and less on the perfecting the taste. Don't get me wrong it's still good! I love that you can get individual slices instead of committing to a whole cake, which makes it so easy to try several flavors in one visit. I think the Asian flavors are what make Sweet Glory stand out from a lot of other cake spots in the city. There are plenty of familiar flavors, but also combinations that you don't see anywhere else. The space is also surprisingly spacious, with plenty of indoor seating and a cute patio in the back. It's a nice place to sit down with a few slices and take your time. Great dessert spot if you want to try a few different cakes in one visit. The fact that you can order by the slice makes it especially easy to explore the menu without having to choose just one.
