People who have a gluten sensitivity have to worry about cross-contamination when eating out, but not here! As others have mentioned, their version of a chai latte is not sweet, it's spicy and delicious, the cookies are always good, but the 3 things I am obsessed with are: 1. the Chinese Chicken Salad (even better taken to go with dressing mixed in, and eaten later after it has had time to sit in that dressing!), 2. the Avocado Toast (theirs is very fresh and tasty, and the bread has a nice texture), and 3. the Chicken Salad Sandwich, it's my favorite version anywhere! Sourdough (!) toasted perfectly, the chicken is chopped very small and the dressing is super creamy. I don't eat meat often, but their chicken is very high quality. I loved my late lunch experience here on a Saturday afternoon. Parking nearby was easy and there were still a few empty tables to choose from when I arrive at 1pm to meet some friends. The tables are nominally self-busing but they have staff who will come around to pick up plates. At no time did we feel rushed or pushed to leave, and all of the staff was friendly and efficient. The food itself was really quite tasty and decently priced for SF as well. I got the brekkie plate with chicken apple sausage and it hit the spot of salty and sweet. I also tried my friend's banana muffin which was really good and not too sweet at all. It was hard to believe it was gluten free! My celiac friend mentioned that she was almost overwhelmed by all of the menu options she could try. WOW! THE SERVERS ARE SO RUDE HERE. After years of avoiding this place due to bad experiences/ reviews, I popped in for a quick pastry. I watched the male barista roll his eyes and openly mock a woman in front of me who asked for a warmer coffee. Then the female general manager defended him when the women complained of being mistreated. I am vegan, and vegans love vegetables ... so when I see a menu that includes a salad with vegetables, I get excited! My husband and I went there for lunch yesterday and ordered 2 herb salads - we were so excited! Sadly, the salads we received did not contain *any* veggies (nor did they include any fresh dill). When we asked where the seasonal veggies were, we were told that they haven't had them for some time. Um ... I beg your pardon? Is there a shortage of seasonal vegetables that I don't know about? Are the seasonal veggies not in season? We were not offered a substitute ingredient to make up for the missing veggies. We were not offered an apology. We were not offered a discount. I love the simple white décor. It makes the café look bright, clean and minimalistic which is very fitting for Presidio Heights. The beet latte tastes better than other places I've had it at, I think they add vanilla or spice so it has more flavor to it. While beet lattes are very pretty they usually taste bland and boring and can't compete with the taste of coffee. I tend to just stick to the coffee drinks here since the menu is a little pricey though I'd recommend the avocado toast. It's served with radish and red pepper flakes which gives it a kick. This place seems very busy with the moms with young children crowd and firemen. There aren't any coffee places on the block so it can get busy and full. I don't really like their hours, it closes at 3pm weekdays and is closed on the weekends. read more
