I loved my late lunch experience here on a Saturday afternoon. Parking nearby was easy and there were still a few empty tables to choose from when I arrive at 1pm to meet some friends. And even if it is crowded, the turnover for tables is decently quick. I saw lots of single diners as well as groups of friends and their tables suit all different group sizes. Ordering takes place at the front counter and they will give you a block with a number for delivering your order to tour table. The tables are nominally self-busing but they have staff who will come around to pick up plates. At no time did we feel rushed or pushed to leave, and all of the staff was friendly and efficient. The food itself was really quite tasty and decently priced for SF as well. I got the brekkie plate with chicken apple sausage and it hit the spot of salty and sweet. I also tried my friend's banana muffin which was really good and not too sweet at all. It was hard to believe it was gluten free! My celiac friend mentioned that she was almost overwhelmed by all of the menu options she could try. This is one of the very few gluten-free restaurants in San Francisco. That's a sad statement, but there's so many high and mighty bullshit restaurants that claim to be gluten-free and then cross contaminate. This is 100% gluten-free. Don't be fooled. As Quoted is not a place that you go to hang out for a long time, they are usually very busy with customers and DoorDashers, you order at the counter and try to find a spot, either at the tiny tables next to the line, at a communal table in the back or along the ledge against the wall. It is very bright and clean and well-staffed, just crowded! They absolutely get 5 stars from me for certain menu items, and for the overall healthy feeling you get from eating here. People who have a gluten sensitivity have to worry about cross-contamination when eating out, but not here! As others have mentioned, their version of a chai latte is not sweet, it's spicy and delicious, the cookies are always good, but the 3 things I am obsessed with are: 1. the Chinese Chicken Salad (even better taken to go with dressing mixed in, and eaten later after it has had time to sit in that dressing!), 2. the Avocado Toast (theirs is very fresh and tasty, and the bread has a nice texture), and 3. the Chicken Salad Sandwich, it's my favorite version anywhere! Sourdough (!) toasted perfectly, the chicken is chopped very small and the dressing is super creamy. I don't eat meat often, but their chicken is very high quality. This place is unique and I love them for that. Regulars just tend to find their favorite things to order. WOW! THE SERVERS ARE SO RUDE HERE. After years of avoiding this place due to bad experiences/ reviews, I popped in for a quick pastry. I watched the male barista roll his eyes and openly mock a woman in front of me who asked for a warmer coffee. Then the female general manager defended him when the women complained of being mistreated. This cafe has a hands off owner and the female general manager enables a culture where employees get to be rude, smug whenever they want and customer experience means nothing. When I was ordering; there was a food delivery person (door dash or?) picking up about 8 bags. a matcha that he was picking up accidentally fell off the counter. Not sure if it was him or the staff. After doing some online research, I decided to come to As Quoted because their menu had a "herb salad" that included "Frisee, Romaine, Baby Kale, Seasonal Vegetables, Cabbage, Radishes, Avocado, Scallions, Basil, Cilantro, Dill, Chives, Roasted Pepitas, Vegan Green Goddess, Vegan Ranch Drizzle." I am vegan, and vegans love vegetables ... so when I see a menu that includes a salad with vegetables, I get excited! My husband and I went there for lunch yesterday and ordered 2 herb salads - we were so excited! Sadly, the salads we received did not contain *any* veggies (nor did they include any fresh dill). When we asked where the seasonal veggies were, we were told that they haven't had them for some time. Um ... I beg your pardon? Is there a shortage of seasonal vegetables that I don't know about? I love the simple white décor. It makes the café look bright, clean and minimalistic which is very fitting for Presidio Heights. The beet latte tastes better than other places I've had it at, I think they add vanilla or spice so it has more flavor to it. While beet lattes are very pretty they usually taste bland and boring and can't compete with the taste of coffee. I tend to just stick to the coffee drinks here since the menu is a little pricey though I'd recommend the avocado toast. It's served with radish and red pepper flakes which gives it a kick. This place seems very busy with the moms with young children crowd and firemen. There aren't any coffee places on the block so it can get busy and full. I don't really like their hours, it closes at 3pm weekdays and is closed on the weekends. read more
