Blue Dolphin Cafe is the only sit down breakfast spot on the north end of Lonboat Key. The food and service were both great, but nothing super special. This is a classic diner. They do have alcohol, so you can always have a beer or mimosa with your brunch! The service was quick and our food had great flavor. There is ample parking, but the location is very walkable when temperatures are mild.

We have been coming here for years. Every time we visit Longboat this is our staple. Food is consistent. Nice little cafe that serves breakfast and lunch. Service is good. They have oldies music playing which is so nice. This is a nice play to visit if you are in the area.

It was a fine little place to have breakfast but it's just like any other diner. The water they gave us didn't have any ice in it, no one offered us coffee, and the side of fruit that I got didn't even have a single berry in it!

This is our breakfast spot every time we stay in Longboat Key! You can't go wrong with anything on their menu. My husband got the blue dolphin special and I went with the Homemade corned beef with fruit and toast. Their corned beef hash is delicious! Most places don't offer homemade corned beef hash, usually it comes straight out of a can. Not here! The staff is very friendly and the service is fast. If you haven't been to this local family owned business and are in Longboat Key, this is a breakfast spot you have to try! There's a reason why we will remain repeated customers!

My FAVORITE brunch spot in LBK (or maybe anywhere, ever!). We've been coming to Longboat twice a year for over 3 years now and I make sure I get Blue Dolphin at least twice each trip down. The food is so good (and usually very fast), the staff is friendly and nice. You can tell they work really hard to make it a nice experience! Portions are big, the breakfast potatoes are super delicious. My favorite things to get are the western omelet or the bacon egg and cheddar egg sandwich. I just love it! See y'all again soon! :)

    Adorable.

It's not bad but it's a place you come to for the vibe. We started with the kung pao calamari: a very interesting take in calamari. The sauce is sweet and the salad paired well, there was sadly much more salad than calamari but I enjoyed this appetizer. Burger: this was my favorite, it was cooked perfectly medium rare and the fries were really good. Baby back Ribs: the sauce was pretty sweet, it was the same one as the calamari, and also the same exact salad as the calamari, disappointed to see my entre was the same exact dish as the calamari but the sauce was on the ribs as well as the salad. It is more like an appetizer to be honest. Fried chicken: they were out of the chicken wings so they offered to use fried chicken breasts instead. The chicken itself was so dry and it had no flavor at all. Really disappointing. Nobu style sablefish: this was the only dish we really enjoyed, it was flavorful and nicely cooked. Would recommend this one Lobster mac and cheese: this one was okay, not a bad dish but needed more salt and felt a bit bland Basque cheesecake: another really disappointing dish, it tasted store bought and just thrown in the plate. Also disappointed that it claimed to be basque cheesecake but it was just a regular cheesecake so why call it basque Also worth noting that they were out of most of the dishes we originally wanted to order so we had to order something else. Get there early. The service was great, our server noticed we didn't like the cheesecake and took it off the check which I appreciated. I would come to this restaurant again but note that the food itself is not that most thought out and flavorful, the place relies on its physical presentation.

My friends love their green tomatoes appetizer (with zucchini), eggplant appetizer, and superb Caesar salad that is served extra chilled. What a start...along with the banana nut bread! For mains, he had the duck (his favorite). J and I split their noteworthy pepper steak and I wanted the cannelloni. The cannelloni was so light and a homerun. My friends had never had it and we all agreed it was great comfort food. Now that pepper steak with a brandy sauce reduction-OMG-how amazing. The pepper crust was perfection. We did not have room for dessert but server said we could go upstairs and get something boxed to go. Looking at that dessert case is a feast for the eyes. We chose a classic tart with fruit and a coconut cream pie...which was the best I have ever had. This may be my new favorite upscale restaurant in SW Florida. I cannot wait to return! Applause to the owners, chefs, and our server.

The parking place had ample parking where you needed a mobile app to pay for your parking. There was a larger souvenir store there if you needed to kill time before your seating. Once it was our time for our dinner reservations, we were greeted and seated at our table. Our waitress was a bit sarcastic or had a witty comments that didn't sit well with my kids. When ordering our foods, the kids asked what type of drinks they had since it was not listed on the menu. She said Coke but didn't elaborate that they had Coke products. Since she said Coke so fast our daughter didn't hear the response and asked her the question again where she just said that's a great question and ignored her and moved on. Food wise - we had the Peruvian ceviche, Peruvian chicken, I think I had a special grouper dish. The food was good. We were able to eat everything and the kids enjoyed their kids burger meals. Outside of the waitress comments, the place placed nice modern music to listen to and had the basketballs games playing on the tv at the bar.

Same smell we know locally. My wife told me that she witnessed the manager spraying something near the other bar patrons behind me as he went toward the kitchen. She knew I would be so upset about it that she did not point it out at the time. I just curled my nose and thought about another seat or to vacate the premise. It dissipates quickly so we tried to be forgiving. The tab was inflated by a drink never ordered and they charge extra for Tajin on the rim of your margarita without notice or justification. So we needed the owner to approve the corrections of the bill. We were told that it became a "flavored" margarita when Tajin is added to the rim in place of salt or no salt. Then we got the "costs are up" story that we have not heard before while ordering my margaritas anywhere else. The waitress did manage to get in a few "I don't make the rules, I just work here" clip that we read here in other reviews. So my wife was pissed and our return visits are now very unlikely. I am not happy either but was looking forward to coming back for liver and onions with our stepfather very soon. Doubtful now. Poop stench in the face, spraying chemicals in the dining room during service and nickel and dime issues make it hard to justify taking our family back here. That is what disappointed me the most. I know this place had a real chance with us at first. Probably not now. ‍

The wait time was about 45 minutes, which wasn't bad at all. The crab cakes were delicious, but the sauce was a miss for me. It was way too spicy. With crab cakes, I think it's best to keep it simple with a tartar-style sauce, of course vegan. I ended up eating them without the sauce and enjoyed them much more that way. The tofu Reuben was good overall, but the bread was a little soggy. A thicker or sturdier bread might hold up better. Even so, the flavors were good and I enjoyed it. Last but definitely not least was the raw blueberry cheesecake. It was absolutely delicious! However, the sauce served with it wasn't for me at all. Thankfully, I tasted it separately before pouring it on the cheesecake because I would have been disappointed. The sauce wasn't sweet and took away from the dessert rather than adding to it. Overall, I had a good experience and enjoyed most of what I ordered. I'll definitely be back, and next time I'd like to dine in and enjoy the meals.

Thank goodness, because I had one of the best BLTAs of my life. The bread looked boring, but it was soft and the perfect blank slate for the seitan bacon, tomato, avocado, and mayo. Very tasty! My husband had the Tofu Rueben. The tofu was a thick slab and the faux corned beef idea would have been better as thin seitan slices. But, he still enjoyed it. Both came with a small salad of just lettuce. I enjoyed my meal (obviously) but I think they could improve their hospitality. Prices indicate a higher level of service. Maybe to go is best.
