I've used Blue Dot in the past and called them again to schedule service recently when our AC unit wasn't cooling properly. They said they'd arrive between 12-4pm on a Sunday. By 5pm that day, they still had not arrived. Not only had they not arrived, I didn't even receive a call from them letting me know they were running late or the reason for the delay. I finally called them to try to get a status as to when the technician would arrive. They said they would pass along the message to the technician who was in the field, but I never heard back from them again. Spent all day with two kids in a very hot house. Wasted just about the whole day. Bottom line: I'm going with another company to install a new AC unit in my house. Blue Dot just missed out on thousands of dollars. read more

Went through and selected them see a lot of commercial etc based on that I had them come out serviceman diagnosed problem however didn't have part or means of getting it that day even after advising I couldn't wait 3 days for heat insisted other service people wouldn't be able to get part however this wasn't truth founded another service provider whom went extra mile found after market part that would do same thing installed it and everything is wonderful will never use or recommend Blue dot to anyone read more

I would like to write about the experience we had with Blue Dot on Saturday June 30, 2018. I called in the morning and I told them we needed our central air fixed and that my husband already knew the problem and we just needed the part. So the guy came at like 7:00 pm which was ok and was finished fixing it 7:05. It was a capacitor like my husband told him and my husband already had everything torn apart so all he had to do was replace the part. We looked up the part which was 28.00 on Amazon but it wasn't available for a week. We tried everywhere before we called Blue Dot . Not available and we had 95 to 100 degree heat. But I was totally shocked at the markup . 411.00 to replace a capacitor. Biggest rip off I have ever seen. The service guy was fine but the price is big time price gauging. Never again!!! read more

We were rescheduled three times to service our aircon. On the second time the technician said that she did not know how to service our Mitsubishi system. The third time nobody showed up despite our follow up calls. On the third time we got a call back at 10:32 pm at night saying "I am sorry, the manager will call us first thing in the morning the next day". It has been two weeks and no manager has called. We have no choice but to leave this company and switch despite having used them the last ten years. I guess they do not need any business anymore. read more

I use blue dot because I purchased a system last summer from them (Home depot). I expected my annual tune up yesterday from 2pm to 6pm. Around 630pm no one showed up. I called and was told a tech will call me with an update. At 830pm, no tech and never received a phone call. I went ahead and turned the heat on, changed the filter, etc... at 2am it was still 59 degrees in my place. Since blue dot is 24 hours, I called the answering service to make sure someone would be out the next morning. The answering service told me someone from the office would call me, they open at 8am. At 10am today (Sunday), no one from the office has called. I called instead and was told that yes, I am on the list for today between 10am and 12pm. Here it is 12:12pm, no call and no tech. I called again and I believe spoke to the same person (Shelby?), the time frame is now changed from 10am to 2pm but apparently I am the next person on the techs list. I get that there are priorities since it's pretty cold out but for better business, call your customer and let them know an update. A wasted weekend wondering if blue dot will show up and how soon I will have heat. This is by far the worst service as my past experiences haven't been like this... read more

We had a new HVAC system installed. The HVAC installation was fine, but we had two diagnostic appointments since then. Each time they missed the 4 hour window by more than an hour. One time, they said they'd call back after checking with the technician. I waited about an hour - no one called. After that, I called and they said the tech was still running late. They apparently forgot to call me after checking with the technician. I understand that technicians run late sometimes, but we would appreciate a heads up when that happens. Very inconsistent service. UPDATE: Bluedot determined that our unit had a defective part. I was told that the part would be ordered and someone would call me in about 2 days to make an appointment once the part was ordered. I waited a couple of days. On the third or fourth day, I called Bluedot and left a message with the answering service to follow up on the part. I did not receive a response. I called again several days later to follow up and was told that the part was already in, but was not given an explanation why no one called me to set up an appointment. I set up the appointment and was assured that I would be given a call if anyone was running late. On the day of the appointment, I called about halfway into the 4 hour window to check the status of the technician. I was told everything was on track. I then received a call about an hour later telling me that the replacement part was mistakenly locked in a warehouse in Elkridge and the the only person with a key to the warehouse lived in Bel Air. I was also told that if I wanted to keep my appointment, it would take about another 2 hours for someone to drive from Bel Air, get the part, get it to the technician, and come to my house. I ended up canceling the appointment because we could not wait that long. I was given an appointment the very next business day at 6PM and was assured that there would be no issues. As I was driving home at 5:15PM on the day of the next appointment, I called Bluedot to make sure everything was still on schedule. To my surprise, I was told that the technician was already at my house at 2:20PM for some reason and left when no one answered the door. I was called by a manager that evening and was given another appointment the next day. Finally, on the day of the final appointment, a technician arrived (albeit 45 minutes late). The technician, however, then tells me that the part was not defective and he could not find anything wrong with the HVAC unit! In the end, I wasted hours and hours of my time on an apparent misdiagnosis. In all fairness, the managers who spoke to me were very apologetic and polite. However, given the repeated disregard for my time, I will not be using Bluedot again. read more

Kinda on the fence here.. maybe would give them 2.5 but the service tech had to come out after they installed to add some coil thing and add freon. Also it made more noise than it should kinda ping is annoying at times and there's a small leak which kinda bothers me. Service wasn't great and they can be hard to get a hold of. I honestly wish I had got the (possibly more reliable) "name brand" HVAC unit but the tech talked me out of it, instead pushing me towards the less known unit with the extra 2 years (12 years total) free parts and labor.. Summary: Overpriced but professional. I called them because the previous owner had used them and their sticker was on the furnace. They came out and quoted me ~$700 to install a $120 part. This is in addition to the $80 they charge just to show up. I ordered the part myself and installed it in under 20 minutes. I'm handy, but knew nothing about HVAC. OK. They get all the five stars. so I called them for one house. They came in timely - but then after installation - the next day - the AC didn't work - it took 2x coming out in the first week to fix it. Had another house next by - I figured problems couldn't happen again - since supposedly they are highly rated. Came in. Scheduled, Installed. Seems ok. Though as owner - they did not call ME - the guy paying for it to let me know it was completed. They just told the tenant. Three days later the AC breaks - the drip pan cracks and something shuts it off - again first week problem. Then tenant calls me and says - they say they can't fix it until they order a part. A part? And that this part will take 1 week. Where are we 1964 gas station in New Mexico. I just called them to tell them - look, you replace a running AC with a new AC that broke and now there is no AC. You need to put in a AC Unit temporarily in the bedroom of the house. Why do I have to tell them to do this? I am waiting for their response. If they respond timely and do the right thing - then I will up to a 2 star - if not 1 star baby. Go somewhere else? Their 5 star ratings went to their head, me thinks. read more

My husband purchased a $10 check up for our heating system from Blue Dot at our local Home Depot. They came out and did their inspection and basically told my husband we needed a entire new system ( approx. $7000 ) and ours was unsafe, we will die unless we replace system asap. We were not having any issues at all. The technician left and gave my husband a receipt for the service check up. Two days later we needed to turn the heat on. It did not come on. My husband, who is very handy looked at the system and realized the tech had cut off the gas (broke the valve as well), disabled our system and turned off multiple items so our system would not come on. Keep in mind, we were NOT told he did anything to the system! The average homeowner would not realize that the system was disabled and I'm sure Blue Dot would be more than happy to come and "fix" it. Clearly we feel ripped off. If this is how they treat people... they can take their business and shove it! DO NOT TRUST! read more

I called blue dot at 5 pm Saturday, 5/18 to report that I would need service the following day as my brand new AC was not cooling. I was given a window from 8am-12 pm on Sunday. I got a call at 10 am sunday while waiting for my technician asking if I'd been scheduled yet... My technician showed up at 12:30 pm Sunday and tried to assert that a dirty filter was to blame. I insisted it was not a filter issue. He admitted the filter was "not that dirty" and investigated the compressor to discover there was no freon remaining. This unit was brand new as of December 2018 and had barely been used until now. The technician tried to charge me a service fee, though I shouldn't have been charged being under warranty so I refused to pay. I was told I needed a 4-hour leak test which couldn't be scheduled until Tuesday, 5/21, though the tech originally quoted it for Monday. I was given a window of 8-12. I asked to be supplied fans given the 90 degree heat in the 2 days I had to spend without AC, but this never occurred. At 9:45 am Tuesday, 11:43 am, 1:45 pm and 4:20 pm I called Bluedot as I had yet to see a tech. During my 4:45pm call I asked at which point did they decide there wasn't enough time left to complete the 4-hour test. I was offered to reschedule, but I refused, as they wouldn't admit it couldn't or wouldn't be done. At 5:08pm I received a call from dispatch that a tech was on the way and would arrive within 30 minutes. I waited until 6:10 pm and when no tech had yet to appear, I called back and talked to the same person from 4:45pm. I was told only then that there was a note in my file that the job could not be completed today and would have to be rescheduled. I asked when I was going to be notified of this? This is completely unacceptable business practice, I now need to wait until Friday, though I was offered Thursday but my work schedule could not accommodate this. I asked for a set time given my 10-hour inconvenience from today and lost wages, but was told I could only have a 4-hour window. I am supremely dissatisfied with my experience with Bluedot today. The customer service providers did what they could but there was a major communication breakdown at several levels today. Unacceptable. read more

I'm sadly disappointed. I had my furnace installed by this company and got nothing but good service. I wanted to use them again for my hot water heater which went out last week. I called to get a quote and was told a tech would be at my home between 2 and 6. At 6:35 still no tech, and no call. I called and was told the tech was running behind. The tech shows up around 7:15, and proceeds to inspect the area. He then writes up a quote which he asked me to sign. When I read where I was being asked to sign, there was language stating that I acknowledged that the work had been done to my satisfaction and I agreed to pay... NO work had been done! I was getting a quote!! I did not sign the document. The next morning I get a call saying they needed to take pictures of the area. The tech had done that the night before. I was told he hadn't sent anything and they needed to take more pictures. I told him I was working in DC for the day and he would have to come the next day. Later that afternoon I get a call from my Rover walker that as she was entering the house, a rep from Blue Dot approached and said he had just spoken to me and I'd said it was ok for them to come in and take pictures!! I told her to tell him to leave. I then called the rep that I'd spoken to just TWO hours before to ask why someone came to the house AFTER I'd told him I would not be home. He said well we had a tech in the area... Aside from the late arrival with no call, the attempt to get me to sign a QUOTE, and sending someone when I'd told them I would not be home, they LIED in order to gain access to my home. I scheduled an appointment to repair my hvac unit, which on the roof. I specified a 44 ft plus ladder was required of which they said no problem. I also confirmed I would get a call when they were on the way to my house because I was going to stay at work, which was a couple blocks away. On the day of the appointment, the tech never called when on the way and left the house because no was home. I called to reschedule and there were numerous apologies. The day of the second appointment there was no call again. The tech had been to my house and determined the ladder was not long enough. When I called to inquire about when the tech would be arriving, I was informed of what happened. They completely dropped the ball on two situations I made them aware of. Not much more I could do but call myself and get my own ladder. Terrible communication. I would never recommend this company. read more

Tuesday 7/26...first service call our unit was not cooling The tech was courteous and professional. Pulled compressor cover, checked freon level, checked air handler to find there was a filter in need of replacement. "there's your problem, it's airflow" 20 degree temp variance side to side, buttoned it up billed me and left. point of information I mentioned that there may be a problem with the valve in the air handler as a family member with the same model had this problem 3 months earlier. within 24 hrs, it failed again....call back window is good so no 82 dollar charge for saturday's visit with a "senior tech" He was all over it, checking everything but couldn't get the compressor to work????? So we replaced 2 parts and added a new switch and filled the system with freon....couldn't do sealant for a leak in the air handler as he told us multiple times he didn't have the right tool with him. it failed again within 2 hrs of his departure. The young lady understood our position. But couldn't get anyone out to us until monday.... I opted for a second opinion monday morning and as it turns out, the fins on our compressor needed cleaning and that valve I mentioned earlier is faulty. On to today in trying to get some money back for shoddy work.....I've been chasing their quality assurance manager Tameeka all day because she has not once done what she said she would do. will call by 1, didn't will call by 4 didn't will call before i leave today, hasn't DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THESE PEOPLE....A TRAINEE IN HVAC SCHOOL WOULD HAVE NOTICED THE NEED FOR A CLEANING ON THE COMPRESSOR. So... They answer your call, "hello, this is Blue Dot Services, how can I provide you with excellent service today?" Wish it were true... They are super nice on the phone... I was excited for their "excellent service". I booked an appointment with them. They said a technician would be coming today between 9:30-12. They said the technician would call 30 min before he would arrive. I waited and waited... I called them at 1pm. Said they were experiencing a high volume of customers and they had been double booked... it was annoying but understandable... It would have been nice for them to let me know, being that they took my number, secondary number in case the first didn't work, and my email address. So I waited some more... called again at 6pm, the nice lady said I was next in line, and they service till midnight if they had to... The phone finally rang at 8pm... it rung once... tried to call them back immediately... it was an automated message service... when I couldn't get through, I hung up and realized they left me a message... saying they needed to reschedule!!! TERRIBLE... They pissed me off... what a waste of a day... Will be taking my business elsewhere... UPDATE: Blue Dot called me the next day to see what was up. I told them what happened and would not be making another appointment with them. The rep was very apologetic, wanted to make it up to us and "win us back". She told us that this usually never happens and offered us a free inspection/estimate and that they would come anytime at our convenience. I hesitantly agreed and set up an appointment for the next day, again between 9:30-12. The technician called me around 11am and said he would be a little late and would be here around 1pm because he was far away. I was fine with that because this time they let me know! He actually showed up on time, around noon and was very knowledgeable and nice. He fixed our A/C unit in about 20 min! I think the price I paid was pretty standard and worth it if you are confident that they did the job right. Sitting in our nice cool house right now, when its 90 degrees outside! When all said and done, I am glad I gave them another chance. Blue Dot DID win us back, and will be using them again! =) read more

DO NOT get involved with this company. Not worth the hassle!!! I set up for a consultation for a new HVAC system on 11/6/2018. The salesman, Justin, was incredibly pushy and apparently lied about multiple things. I went with them mostly because they could do it on a Saturday whereas the other company I preferred didn't work Saturdays and Justin really pushed for me to agree at that moment. I set it up for 11/10/2018. The installation workers were pleasant enough, but didn't do a very good job - at least they didn't do what I was told they would do. One showed up hours later than the other 2. They didn't seal the system (at all), even from the inside which ultimately took less than 3 minutes and I had to postpone my Thanksgiving travels to have someone come back out and do that. They STILL haven't sealed it on the outside a month later despite repeated calls and emails. The thermostat is also not accurate. When the person came to seal the unit, he just altered the thermostat to read 2 degrees colder - but it is still wrong. I was told when it was installed that the smell of burning rubber/plastic from the heater would stop after 2-3 hours. 4 weeks later, it still smells like that every time the heat kicks on. The air conditioner couldn't be pressurized because of the outside air temperature - which would have been understandable had I not specifically asked about that when I agreed to the installation on 11/6 and been promised that it was not too cold and would be no problem. Now the air conditioner cannot be set correctly until late spring/early summer. They also didn't tell me I would have to take a day off of work after everything is finished to have the city come inspect their work - that would have been good to know, especially since the city/county won't give a specific time so you have to be home all day to avoid the city/county charging you $50 for the no show. Blue Dot also threatens to charge you if you don't have the inspection done within 90 days - don't listen. Don't let them charge you, you have 1 year to have it done. FYI Jeff Hagerty is the person I had originally had contact with to try to get these things fixed, but he will not respond anymore. read more

Called Friday, 2nd floor air was not working. They could not come until Monday (ok, I get that). Showed up Monday at 2:30pm. Could not go into the attic to replace the fuse and fix the unit because it was TOO HOT. They said they would come first thing Tuesday (10am is 1st thing). They show up late to appointments, they don't have the equipment needed to do repairs, and then they try and tell you nothing is covered under warranty when it is. I have never received such terrible service in my entire life. Their technicians actually have no idea what they're doing. It's embarrassing that they are even a functioning company. I have had it it with them entirely, and I am writing this review as a warning to anyone looking to hire blue dot. THEY SUCK! It all started last Christmas, when the heat in our home completely stopped working during an intense cold front, while we had family visiting from New York. We called them shortly after the holidays and they sent one of their guys in to fix things. Little did we know, he had no clue what he was doing. He messed up our entire system, and fixed absolutely nothing. So, we called them again, and they sent another guy, who came in and told us that our heating system was messed up, and he needed a few materials before he could do anything. We waited for weeks, before they decided to come back and attempt to fix things. It became an on going cycle of them coming to our home, trying to fix our heater system, and then blaming it on the last guy that looked at it. They've been here so damn often that they know our names! It is now summer, and they still haven't gotten it right. We've had several different internal systems at this point and now we want nothing more than to find another heating/cooling company. We've been relying on fans, to keep us cool this summer. If this review doesn't persuade you, I don't know what will! Do not even consider blue dot. Save your money, and your time. They shouldn't be in business. Deceitful!!! AC system was installed in 2015, so it is still under Warranty. We notice system blowing warm air and call for service. Technician comes and determines it is low on refrigerant but is unable to find leak with electronic search. He does leave giving us temporary cooling. He leaves a receipt in which he has crossed out all fees: Diagnostic, Refrigerant per Pound, Electronic Leak search and Nitrogen Leak search because ofcourse our system is under warranty. The day of the appointment I get a call and the technician says "I don't know if they told you it is a $808.00 charge for the leak test. So I told him to cancel. Then a get a call from the dispatched (unfortunately I do not recall her name) to reschedule the appointment because it's raining and I mean really raining. I asked her about the fee. She initially stated I had no fee but then put me on hold. When she came back that had changed to yes you have a fee of $808.00 but was not able to explain to me why I have the fee on a warrantied system. My exact words were "if the coils are leaking and they are under warranty why don't they replace them" I cancelled the appointment when she could not give me an answer that made sense. At this point I am done with this company. But my husband, who had been happy with the many services we have gotten from this company, calls when he gets home from work and after being put on hold for some time was promised a return call the next today. Well, no call came and when he called he was told it was a manufacturer issue and we needed to call them for the repair. I have referred them several times and not because they were the cheapest but the Technicians, especially Michael Lawrence, that have come to my house were always courteous, timely, professional and did an amazing job. Be careful of this company. The fan on our AC unit stopped working when I was out of town. Wife and kids home with no heat. The came the next day, said it was the blower fan that had failed. charged $800 for the fan and $250 to install. Now 3 years later, that same fan has failed. I called and was told it is out of warranty. They wanted $99 just to come to the house to tell me the fan is not working. I just googled the fan model and found that Grainger was selling this same fan motor for $169. Two other locations are selling it for a little less. Blue dot sold it to me for $800 I just called a local place (Barstow). They tell me the average cost to replace a blower fan is about $500. Over charged me for product. wont stand behind work. I just had the worst experience with a sales rep that I have ever had in my life. The rep walked through the house and stepped out to make a few phone calls and come back in. I expected to receive a written quote. The conversation started off poorly and got worse. He started with, 'how much did you expect to pay?' Not sure why that's relevant. I had to ask at least 10-times for the price. Even then, he asked me how I was planning to pay. Again, not sure why that's relevant. When he finally gave me a back of the envelope calculation, it was more than I was expecting. Then the rep launched into all the reasons I had been mislead and how great Blue Dot is. At the price he quoted, literally scrawled on the back of a piece of paper, I was not ready to move forward today. Then he starts to say, at what price would you move forward?, how would you be paying?, we could give a discount (but he wouldn't tell me how much of a discount.) Oh and the price might be one thing today and one thing next week. I don't understand that. I want a sales rep to come to my home, design a solution and give me a written quote that I will then consider amongst other quotes from other service providers, like any normal customer would. Oh and then he told me I wasted his time and Blue Dot's time because I was not ready to move forward. That is when I asked him to leave my house. I got up from my chair, thanked his for his time and said we're done, you can leave now. How could I be ready to move forward without a written estimate? I have never in my life been talked to in this way. I am so disappointed in Blue Dot. oh an I inquired about a service contract for my furnace and water heater as well. Just updating, I will call the company soon since they left a note. The technician finally arrived at 9:30 pm. Thankfully, he was nice, professional, and identified the problem quickly. To fix it he said would be $300 + the service call fee which is almost $400 to fix an issue that calls for a part that is less than $30....sigh. I have to agree with other reviewers the markup is high. All in all, the company should have waived the service fee all together since their staff took incorrect notes AND provided me with incorrect information multiple times when I followed up. It is poor service to have a customer waiting 7.5 hours for a resolution. read more

I started using Blue Dot of Maryland 2 years ago. I was thrilled and recommended them to all my friends. I particularly liked how proactive they were about calling to schedule appointments before the season started. At the Spring inspection, I was told I would need to replace my AC. A salesman came out. It was determined that the gas furnace was fine, and the AC was replaced. I called to renew my service contract. As far as I was concerned, everything was fine. Several weeks ago, I received a postcard saying, they "want[ed] me back". I called. They had Not renewed my service contract when I called in the spring. It took three calls to connect with someone in the contracts department. After we had renewed the contract, I did receive a call - getting back to me to renew. At the time I renewed, we scheduled a fall inspection for 9/29. I didn't receive an email. When I called just now, I was told it hadn't been scheduled. They offered me an appointment in mid-October. I pushed back and was given an appointment for tomorrow. I was told to expect information on products I could buy. I reiterate that we had reviewed all of this when I purchased the new AC this spring. I hung up and decided to write this review. Things have really gone bad here! As I was typing, I received a call from Blue Dot. My technician is enroute! I asked them to ensure that tomorrow's appointment is canceled. We will see. I am sad to see such great dependable service fall apart so completely, so quickly, across so many areas! read more

My AC (that I bought from blue dot 3 years ago for 5 thousand) was not cooling the house. I called blue dot to have a technician evaluate the problem. They sent the same technician that recommended the new system 3 years ago. He quickly assessed that the system was working correctly and the problem was my heating unit blower and recommended I should upgrade that system entirely for an estimated 4 to 5 thousand. I choose to have another technician come out and he was very professional and diagnosed the entire system and fixed the problems......all of which were the results of an improperly installed system, by blue dot (and I was charged almost $300 for the fix). This technician was excellent! However, the first technician "Pete" forget the last name is possibly the worst technician on earth. If Blue Dot sends this person to your house quickly send him away and request someone else! read more

Update 5/18/2017: I have to give Blue Dot credit - they bent over backwards to resolve the system issues where a lot of companies would not care. I worked with their corporate office (ARS) and we came to an agreement on a solution. They acknowledged the issue and did everything to resolve it, which they did. Truly appreciate their service and would buy from them again. Buyer beware... I purchased a new HVAC system from Blue Dot in 2014. There have been re-occurring issues since then and I was only saved by the maintenance contract I purchased along with the system. The system seemed to run fine at first during the summer. AC worked great but I noticed a metal clicking noise. I brought that up when the technician came by for the maintenance check up in the fall and he said "that was nothing to worry about". My heat worked fine that winter, but the bill was rather large for living in a condo. I brought this up again when the technician came out for the spring maintenance tune up and mentioned the clicking noise. Of course, the noise didn't occur when the tech was there and he chalked up the large bill to "drafty windows". The technician did make several up grade/cleaning recommendations that meant spending more money with them. The same routine happened through the rest of 2015 to the fall of 2016. AC worked fine, but the clicking noise would come and go. Heat bill was large in the winter. Technicians that came out said the system was fine. In December of 2016, I realized the technician hadn't been out yet to do the fall maintenance of the system. I gave Blue Dot a call and they sent someone out to service it. The guy comes in, runs some diagnostics and I mention the metallic clicking noise I've heard since the system was installed. He said that doesn't sound right and goes out to the compressor and spends a good hour or so looking everything over. He comes back in and said there was an incorrect piston installed on the unit during installation and that's where the noise is coming from. He said he'd order the correct part and once it's fixed, I should see a noticeable difference in my heat bill. He was right - once the issue was fixed, my heat bill was nearly cut in half. It only took 2.5 years for this to be resolved. Now, a week ago, I switched on my AC to give it a test for the upcoming summer and it doesn't work. I called Blue Dot to send out a technician and also asked to speak to a manager to complain about the entire experience I've had with the system since I purchased it. They weren't available and the rep said they would have the manager give me a call. They never did. Technician came out today and said there is a defective "control board on the outdoor unit" and it would have to be replaced. Called Blue Dot again to speak to a manager and they said they would have them call me back. Still haven't heard from them. My advice - look elsewhere for your HVAC needs. Read less read more

Do not use this company. I called four days ago and asked to speak with supervisor about my service call as of today no return call. I have a service plan with this company that I am going to cancel they don't cover labor costs. I was advised to replace two parts on my air conditioning unit. The parts cost thirty dollars. The labor cost is 356.00. The estimated work time is one hour. Can you say rip off. This is my second bad experience with this company. I will be taking my business else where for sure. I am a former customer after thirty years this company has went so far down hill it is ridiculous. read more

I have an annual inspection agreement with them (not for much longer), my water heater failed (4 years old), tech quoted me $1,400 to replace. When I questioned that it was likely still under warranty, he claimed not and the replacement heater was $700 (no explanation given. When I presented warranty documentation, miraculously the price fell to $700 labor. The 2 techs who visited to do the repair were excellent (hence the 2 stars)......you have been warned, I will cancel the contract and go with a well reviewed, local, independent. read more

Got an estimate for both AC & furnace ended up just getting the AC, because Blue Dot didn't deal with kerosine furnaces. Had I been told that we would have just went with the AC and cut out all the drama that followed until today. Good solid service. read more

We had an inspection and cleaning of our heat pump. Everything went great. There was a small slip where he tripped on of our fuses, but no permanent damage done. He wore little booties to protect our house from his shoes. It's the small things! He was very pleasant and was willing to discuss any concerns I had. Not to mention, he provided a few replacement supplies free of charge. All in all, good experience with this company and I would be happy to have them back in the future. The only reason I gave them 4 out of 5 stars is the scheduling system. They will come any time after 9 30 with a call 30 minutes before they arrive. That sucks compared to the one or two hour windows other companies provide. read more

Four years ago Blue Dot installed our HVAC system. We have maintained a yearly service contract with them. Today the service technician told me they no longer service oil systems. I am disappointed that I was not informed prior to my technician coming out and can not believe that a company doesn't service equipment they install. read more

Prices way higher than competitors (see below)! Don't be fooled by the hard sell to replace your unit. When our unit (only 5 yrs. old and a Carrier Infinity system) would not blow cold air, we called Blue Dot to come out and provide a diagnosis. They checked it out for $79, which is in the standard range for the industry. The tech said the compressor was not working and that the refrigerant level was extremely low. He then informed me that I needed to pay for an additional nitrogen test check. This is also common practice in the industry. However, the tech said the nitrogen test check would cost $808 (Triple E Heating and Air charges $69 for the SAME nitrogen test check!), and that would just enable him to tell what was really wrong, presumably a leak somewhere in the system. Again, this is standard practice in the industry, just not the standard (a fair) price. Skipping some details here, he ultimately told me to expect paying a total of around $5,000 for the repair, at which time he encouraged me to consider a replacement, suggesting that by the time I paid that much for a repair, it would be better to get a new system that I could be confident in. At the time it seemed to me that a central part of Blue Dot's business plan was to come in, quote an outrageous repair cost, and then push their customers toward a costly replacement. I wanted to be sure, however, so I called another company, Triple E. A Triple E tech came in, found the same problems, suggested the $69 nitrogen test, and said that it would not make sense to replace an excellent unit like ours that is only 5 yrs. old. The grand total I ended up paying for the Triple E repair was under $800. This was good enough evidence for me to conclude that Blue Dot jacks their repair related cost up to push customers to spend even more on a replacement. This is unjust. You owe it to yourself to call someone else. Avoid this company, but at least get a second opinion, even if it costs a bit more money! read more

Tyran was extremely helpful during a service call. The job was quick and could have taken 2 minutes, but he checked and doubled checked to make sure my system was operating properly. He also made recommendations on maintenance. read more
