Recreational travel for me, my first visit to this establishment was August 8, 2026. I went just after the lunch hour on a Saturday. There's plenty of parking. The decor is dark and Asian themed. The staff is friendly and accommodating and efficient. There's an extensive menu with many traditional Asian choices. Today was one of those days when I didn't want to think very hard so I went with the reliable fallback of a bento box. I chose teriyaki beef and I was very happy with the result. Horrible, weird vibe. Very strange and lifeless. Wife had sushi and it was served rather lukewarm-warm!!! Yikes - raw fish served warm I got the safest thing on the menu. Which I felt was ramen. I swear to you it was ramen out of the styrofoam cup. It had dehydrated veggies just like the cups I had stashed in my studio apt back in the day. The noodles were not authentic either. Not impressed with any aspect of this place. Went to dinner with my husband and it was just mid. There wasn't any music playing which made the cavernous space feel cold and uncomfortable. Our server was nice but not attentive enough and the food was just ok. We ordered one roll because we weren't sure we would like it just based on the vibes. Went for my birthday dinner on a Wednesday with my husband. Unfortunately, we walked into an open floor restaurant with warehouse vibes and zero ambiance. Think Costco-esque lighting. To be fair, we got there a bit past 7:30...maybe they were winding down? It felt like we caught them mid renovation or something. The service was the biggest letdown. Our young server was nice but her inexperience was painfully obvious as she nervously fumbled to answer basic questions about the menu. I'm not newbie shaming because we've all gotta start somewhere. But at least avoid putting anyone on the floor solo until they learn the menu. She had to summon another server a few times who looked overloaded herself. And our original server didn't stick around to shadow. My hubs ordered noodles which came 10 minutes before my rolls. After my rolls came, we were an afterthought. I had to wave the server down for pretty standard stuff like wasabi and a drink refill. We even ended up swiping napkins from another table because I was ov.er.it. Tempura appetizer and sushi rolls were good. I had the 911 and rainbow, both of which I recommend. As a San Diego transplant, I was happy with the quality and taste. The sake flight wasn't bad either. Perhaps they were understaffed or it was an off night but the dining experience overall was cringey. I fully planned on leaving with a solid birthday buzz but got a buzzkill instead. The restaurant is clearly hemorrhaging money from poor service. The bar area looked pretty cool though. We came here on a Sunday night for dinner. It was not too busy and we were seated right away. We started with the Philadelphia roll, which was fresh and delicious. For my meal I had one of the specialty rolls and it was one of the best rolls I have ever had. I wish I would have remembered the name. Stopped by for dinner after seeing the wichita thunder play. Took a few minutes for someone to seat us as we were standing there staring at the staff while they were all busy. I feel like they need a wall divider to block the view of the restaurant when you in, to hide and section off the restaurant Someone stated this was the best sushi place in wichita and I would beg to differ. Downtown already with my boys, I brought them here for early dinner. Walking in, the host told us it would be a 30-minute wait. He told the people behind us the same thing, but yet we were still seated within five minutes. SCORE. Ran into Blue Fin Sake Bar for a late lunch after a visit to the Art Museum. The house sake was really good. We had sushi rolls, some kind of lobster bites and I had yellowtail and udon. I have to say they used some sweet teriyaki sauce on the yellowtail that I did not like but the fish was fresh and delicious. Everyone liked their meals overall. The service was really good and prompt. The Ambiance can use some work, a bit of a smell when you entered the restaurant but overall a pretty good choice. read more

Great spot in Old Town! The perfect combination of price and quality in sushi! One thing I liked wa that you had to ask for the wasabi and the pickled ginger. I come to this place very often with friends. Service is honestly a hit or miss. The other night we came in about an hour and a half before they closed and it was empty inside. Once we ordered, we got our main courses, but our waitress did not bring out any of the appetizers we had ordered first. We assumed it was still cooking so we gave it a minute, next thing you know, we are done with our meals and still no appetizers. I have been a couple of times now, and both times the food and the service has been wonderful! It was a reallllllly rainy day and I was craving sushi. I knew Blue Fin had their lunch special so I figured it was the best time to check the place out. The parking lot, like many downtown lots, was packed and so I had to park on the other side of the road. Also like many downtown areas, the streets were pretty much flooded. I could barely walk in my rain-soaked heels. Perhaps due to the lunch special, the restaurant was crowded. There were still some empty tables, however. I stood at the front for about six minutes until one of the servers came up to me. She asked me to wait for a bit longer so she could clean one of the tables. I waited for another 5-6 minutes. Finally, my lunch companion and I were seated. The overall menu was quite extensive and we had a lot of options to choose from the lunch menu. Our server was friendly and made frequent visits to make sure everything as A-OK. I looked around and noticed how nice the atmosphere was. Overall, it wasn't too dark due to the natural lighting but it wasn't too bright either; it was the perfect ambiance. Not to my surprise, the food took some time to arrive due to the amount of people there. I enjoyed almost everything I ordered although some of them were slightly too salty for my liking. The ordering page said curbside available, so I put in my vehicle info, called as told to and the order was ready, and then it was just awkward pauses so I had to go inside to pick it up. Honestly the sushi used to be fresh and good. But when we got back this time it's was terrible. The sushi roll was premade and putting in the fridge to serve Customers when ordered. We can definitely tell because the rice was cold and very hard. Fresh rolls should never be like that. The meat on the Hamachi was wilting and discolored. The taste was very overwhelming. They put eel sauce over everything . I mean this never happened before but we will definitely never come back. The service, however, was great. We had a bad experience ordering on Uber Eats. My boyfriend has a shellfish allergy, which he made know on the order. The restaurant, without contacting us, decided to replace everything that wasn't fish or imitation crab with avacado. One tip- I do not recommend their Chirashi or sashimi fish - for example- the yellow tail I got recently was very obviously just thawed and tasted like a big bite of dirty tap water. My hubby also ordered the Spicy Korean Ramen and it was so spicy (which we loved) and the noodles and veggies were great. Tried this place for the first time today. At 12:40 when I walked in, there were only 3 tables. It's a fairly dark restaurant but clean. I ordered 1 order each of salmon and ono Nigiri. The ono had sauce all over it which was good, but I would've preferred to just taste the fish. The salmon was sliced so thin it was separating from itself. It was also extremely firm to the touch and not very chilled. I also got a lunch combo A and the Fired Dragon roll. The lunch combo was good but the Dragon roll was VERY fishy and didn't have a great flavor. My server was new and her trainer was shadowing her. She was good, nothing negative to say there. My sushi roll was supposed to have avocado in it but there was one tiny piece of avocado in one of the pieces then the rest was basically cream cheese and imitation crab.
