Meeting friends in Flemington which is the half way point for each. Googled restaurants for a suggest and Blue Fish Grill just seemed like one we would all like. We all loved it! The crab melt special was scrumptious (3 of us had it) as was the teriyaki salmon. Our waiter made the evening such fun, he did not hover or bother us. This is an update from my original review. This restaurant has not only changed locations but owners and the food reflects this. It is now very good and their crabcake sandwich is now excellent and their seasoned fries alone are worth a visit. I have usually never had an issue here and I have eaten here and always been very pleased. I ordered today for lunch and I was very upset with what I got. The menu online was not correct and I did not get what I ordered. When I called to fix my order and get what I asked for I was told that no one can help me I will have to order again and pay again! The salad was not up to par there was nothing in it other then lettuce with dirt on it and a side of dressing. I am very upset with the outcome of this order and hoped I would get help when I called but that is not what I received. We are as well a local business and I am upset with how we were treated my first timers for here were very unpleased. read more

The atmosphere here is very warm and welcoming. It's kid-friendly. The food dishes are delicious and full of flavor. In addition to offering white wines, it's BYOB so you can get some local brew at the brewery down the street. The coffee and desserts come from the coffee house next door (which is also owned by the Blue Fish Grill). The wait staff are super friendly and personal, especially Karim! He knew all our names after the first 2 minutes. The kids loved him! They are happy to offer suggestions and make accomodations. Had lunch with friends yesterday! As always the food was delicious. Had the cod tacos, yum. They were perfect. We shared orders of house made fries and chips as an appetizer. Our server, Karim, was fabulous, as usual. He's fun, helpful and a accommodating. After a long lunch, he took us on a tour of this very cool building, formerly the Stangl pottery building. Wonderful, fresh, delicious, always perfectly grilled ahi tuna with asian slaw is my favorite! For 12 bucks it's what I always order with their fresh brewed iced tea. Today I sat outside under an umbrella around 2pm. I was not alone, by the time I left, every table outside was taken. They do pack'em in. BYOB is great! A lot of people have recommended the Blue Fish Grill to us, but we have never found the opportunity to go. if you are looking for delicious food, family friendly atmosphere, and a great BYO, you have found it. I would highly recommend the specials, but if not, go for the fish tacos. They are fantastic. Oh, and the best part .... it is VERY resonably priced. Don't wear a suit to this place, but dress casual, and get ready for a great meal that won't hurt your wallet. P.S. Try the key-lime pie! read more

Great service. Awesome Fish and chips. Fries to die for! Boyfriend ordered salmon with grilled broccoli. The salmon was perfectly cooked and melted in your mouth. He didn't like the broccoli, which i did not try, because it was bland. Either way my meal was fantastic and the perfectly seasoned/cooked salmon makes up for anything. I have been to the old location many times and think they both offer a simple decor in a functional restaurant. One comment/complaint is the new location is VERY loud, it was actually annoying to have a conversation. I am sure this is because of the fact the floors are concrete and the walls are sheet rock. A HUGE issue for me as a Diet Coke drinker is they no longer offer any soda except Boylon's and the Diet Cola was gross! This for me is like going to have Pancake House that doesn't serve coffee. A small detail but important to us Diet Coke addicts. The Pulled Pork Sandwich was A++. Nice portion of pork and the seasoned fries are great. The Crab cake was OK, it was however cold in the middle, an experience I have never had in the past. I would probably go back in the future, just not as good as in the old location..could have just been bad luck. read more

We were very disappointed in BFG. Noisy, too warm, salty, average food and certainly not a bargain for paper plate food. Our server was very nice but other than that it was not a positive experience. We will not go back. read more

Just went there a few days ago with my girlfriend. The food is excellent as is the service. We started with the fried calamari which was served with a house made tartar sauce. I am not a tartar sauce fan myself, but I could not stop dipping my calamari into it!. Then my girlfriend had the baja fish tacos, which she loved and wanted more of. I selected my entree off the From The Grill section of the menu. I had salmon with a smoke red chili sauce. The salmon was cooked perfectly. Nice char but still moist. And the red chili sauce, I could have taken that home in a bottle. For dessert, we shared a slice of key lime pie that was fantastic. This is definitely a restaurant worth driving to, and we drove over 30 miles to get there! We will definitely be back!! read more

Delicious food tonight! Rahim was our server- very friendly and made some good recommendations. We had the fish and chips to start- excellent! Try the homemade potato chips. B had the curry salmon and I had the big fish burrito. Both great! We tried the Melbac wine from the bar from a local winery and at $22 was the perfect addition to a terrific meal! We've been here many times and it's usually very good but tonight was exceptional. Oh yeah, the Key lime pie is REALLY good! read more

We come every year for their Mardi Gras menu...and once again it didn't disappoint. The Shrimp, crawfish and grits were outstanding!

My husband made reservations for a quiet romantic dinner. We were looking forward to a classy evening. We were placed next to the bar. We could not hear ourselves think. We watched as people at the bar without reservations were placed in better locations. No effort was made to improve our situation. Fish was good snap peas old and tough. We stumbled on to this restaurant by accident and found a new favorite in Flemington. Our server, Karim, was incredibly personable making us feel like we were guests in his home. The atmosphere is very casual with a warm 'neighborhood' feel. The food was very good, too. The Tokyo Tacos were amazing! At first glance, the portions looked small, but both of our meals very filling. We even ran out of room for dessert. The wine selection is limited so next time we might bring our own wine since we are a bit picky. read more

We live locally and this is one of the best restaurants in the area (it's one of those hidden gems you're so excited once you find it)! I've never had anything that hasn't been amazing...all of the food is fresh and so flavorful! The atmosphere is great...very casual (great if we bring the kids) and we love being about to eat outside when the weather is nice. Everyone is super friendly, including the owners who work in the kitchen most days. They recently switched to waitresses (instead of ordering then sitting down), which I like. It's our go-to family spot to celebrate birthdays, etc. (my 6 year old recently picked to go there for his birthday and he had the pick of anywhere). It's also very reasonably priced for the quality of food you get. Don't forget to BYOB! You won't be disappointed! read more

I recently had my family dinner at Blue Fish Grill with a party of 15. They were so accomodating and helpful. The staff bent over backwards for us. The food was TERRIFIC and the crowd was so accepting of our loud party. This restaurant has a great new menu, fabulous service and you can see that the owners LOVE what they do. If your taste buds are shot, this is the place for you! Arriving to find a 35 minute wait for a table and reading some of the other reviews on this site, I was expecting big things. We were really disappointed. Had dinner there last night and every item we ordered was flavorless. The southwest clam chowder was nothing more than a can of chopped tomatoes and hominy and one lonely piece of clam - no seasoning whatsoever. Caesar salad was bottled dressing which is a big no no in my book when it's something so common that it is a staple on almost every menu. Grilled shrimp ceviche was horrible - it tasted like a bowl of ketchup and brown sugar with a few diced veggies and some rubbery chopped up shrimp and a glob of guacamole - no acid at all. If something is going to be called ceviche then it MUST have some acid to wake it up. Something as simple as a Baja fish taco that should be an easy item for a chef to season (cumin, chili, cilantro, etc.) was tasteless. The fish and chips were greasy - CHANGE THE OIL IN YOUR FRYER! And one last thing, if you are going to tell people that you have a special house seasoning blend that make it something SPECIAL - salt, black pepper, paprika and SUGAR is nothing special and to be honest really screwed up the fries, chips and even the tortilla chips to the point that none of us ate any of these items. My recommendation is if the chef, or should we say COOK, is going to continue to offer dishes with a Mexican flare - invest in a Rick Bayless Cookbook. I can only imagine what the Asian inspired items taste like. BTW, the server we had was not attentive and if you are going to note free refills on the menu then they need to come back and make the offer. After taking our order she came back once and that was to deliver the food and then to bring us the check and never asked why we didn't finish anything. When she returned with my credit card and the bill she just threw it on the table instead of handing it to me. I was a waitress all through college, so typically over tip - not last night. read more

Had a wonderful meal at Blue Fish Grill last Saturday. I had the skirt steak, which was perfectly prepared, and also tried one of their specials, the Salmon Tempura. It had just the right amount of spice. I was told that the Salmon will be a new menu item. My server, Kimmy, was very friendly and helpful. Blue Fish now serves wine from a local winery, Old York Cellars. The delicious Malbec was reasonably priced and went well with both the skirt steak and salmon. I look forward to going back to Blue Fish. read more
