I was never really a fan of Asian style food ever before eating here, and I have to say that they make the best Vietnamese food I have ever had. The place is very simple, but elegant as well for a tiny little restaurant. The food is a bit pricey, but for two people and with simple dishes it's not so bad at all. My boyfriend will usually grab one of their soups which are huge and very cheap for as much as they give you and a plate of spring rolls, and I will typically grab a soup as well or a plate of fried rice which is my favorite. The spring rolls are the first to actually taste decent to me and maybe it's because my New York origin doesn't serve good Asian dishes at all haha. The restaurant is quiet and clean. They give you huge portions of everything, it is served quickly and is pretty good. We have enjoyed the pho several times as well as fried rice, crispy chicken and seafood. My only complaint is that the lady at the register is a bit snarky...she could be friendlier and smile once in a while. read more

We just left this restaurant in a bit of shock and awe... the place at first glance seems nice then we saw the aquarium. It looks like it hasn't been cleaned in days. 2nd the server was a bit rude. Road tripping back home from New Orleans we decided to find a place to have dinner and stay the night and see how far we could get after visiting the Grand Canyon. Came in here based on Yelp reviews. It was the 3rd highest reviewed food place in town and since 2 people in my group were under the weather we opted for Pho for dinner and since chicken noodle is traditional for a cold we got 2 #18's (chicken noodle) and I got the #22 noodle only in broth also got the egg rolls which were very good. The soup really hit the spot, we were beat before we came in here and was just gonna stay the night here in town but felt good enough to go a bit further and stay the night in Bakersfield. The soup was not too salty (always a worry) had great flavor and fresh fixings (jalapeño, mint, parsley, sprouts and lime) the egg rolls were tasty as well. This place was a great find for us and we were truly grateful to find this place when we did. Maybe I won't get the cold/flu the rest of them have after that soup. The only place for pho in Tehachapi. This place is wonderful. Good pho (I get the seafood), wonderful staff, and of course, good prices. My family can get full for less than 20 bucks, AFTER tip. The decor is better than a lot of pho places, and my only gripe, as with all Tehachapi places are the operating hours. The five stars I'm giving this place is for the taro boba & coconut boba drinks and the friendliness of the folks working there. Both drinks were SO GOOD! I usually get boba milk tea in Chinatown or Koreatown, but they didn't have that so the very nice guy there offered to make one of his boba drinks (they're like a smoothie) to see if I liked it. I chose the taro one and fell in love with it! Then hubs tried the coconut boba and we were both in heaven. We had already eaten lunch so we didn't eat there, but all the food looked and smelled very good. The restaurant is very cute and extremely clean, and was nice and cool on the very warm day we were there. Next time we go to Tehachapi we'll have lunch at Blue Ginger Pho along with our boba drinks. read more

Just got shut down due to roaches, unsanitary food prep conditions. (Open soup broth on floor in pot.) No sanitizing water or cleaner for use in prep area. Went three two days before it was shut down and didn't notice any thing out of the ordinary. Food was good but I did order soup. So now I am just grossed out. Hope they can follow code and reopen as I like the menu and people. But not at the risk of health. read more

I've eaten lunch here twice and both times I would rate 5/5 for good service & great food. The menu includes several vegetarian options - not something I expected in a smaller town like Tehachapi. First, I ordered the vegetarian spring rolls. They were tasty with the peanut sauce, very fresh. Service was great for lunch. He checked back often to see how everything was. Then came a simple soup with rice noodles. A plate of fresh veggies came with it to add, if wanted. Basil, bean sprouts, sliced peppers, carrots, thinly sliced onions. The side dish was a feast. I stayed in Tehachapi for work and wanted to get something to eat in my hotel room. I looked on Yelp and found all of these great reviews, so I got the raw beef noodle soup and a fresh spring roll. All I can say is wow was I impressed! The soup had a really nice deep flavor, and the steak melted in my mouth after it cooked in the broth. There were so many sprouts, fresh herbs, noodles, sauces, that I didn't even come close to finishing! And they gave me double the amount of fresh spring rolls and they were delicious! This will be short because I have only been there once. But I am planning on returning! I'm not a local though so when I do make it up there it's hard to choose where to go since I love several restaurants. First off the owner is super friendly, nice, and very attentive. True we were one of only two groups there at the time but he treated us like dear friends, and only one out of the three of us had been there before. I had this rice bowl thing that was cooked to a crisp on the bottom. It was a mixture of fried rice, veggies, and assorted meats. The menu allowed you to add different meats and eggs ontop and I tried the Vietnamese sausage and a fried egg. I LOVED it. It was almost charred on the bottom but I like that and I thought the flavor was awesome. They were also trying out these new wings so they gave us some for free! They were sweet and spicy and lemony. Even had a hint of ginger. YUM! But it gets better...Now I don't know if they still have this, but when i was there they had boba! In case you are not familiar, boba is a drink made with large black tapioca balls in it. They serve it with a wide straw. I know if you don't know boba that probably doesn't sound appetizing but they usually come in a smoothie of some kind or iced coffee or tea. But mostly the drinks will be blended. This just made my day because boba is hard to find. And they have the yummy asian flavors like ube and lychee. Oh and the egg rolls are good too. GO THERE! XD read more

Just moved to Tehachapi and thought I would try out the local Pho restaurant. Had the Pho Nam which was outstanding, very authentic to what I've had in the Far East. Not too spicy as served, but plenty of Asian hot red chili sauce available to perk it up. Service was fast and courteous, price very reasonable at under $8 for a small bowl and iced tea. Having moved to the small town of Tehachapi from Orange County, I'm happy we even have a Vietnamese restaurant. The pho may not be amazing, but it's still really good. I prefer the spring rolls and the veggies and rice with peanut sauce. My husband likes the vermicelli dishes. On one of our dozens of visits, the peanut sauce was a little watery. But, I told the server, and he took it back and added some peanut butter or something and made it all better. Blue Ginger is by far the best Asian food in town. read more

They even have off the menu items like Pad Thai which is the only item that has been inconsistent in the years we have been going. 54 Chicken Curry is good for a beginner if you have never had curry. They will ask if you want it spicy be careful hot is HOT no joke. Go for mild spice first time toqu can always add sriracha or the chili paste. Wow! Best Pho and Springrolls with peanut sauce I have ever tasted. Fresh.

Stopped here on a return trip from Vegas to home in Central Valley. Tried 1 order of spring rolls, 3 orders of #1 pho (large..even though I asked for small), 1 order of combo fried rice, 2 thai tea boba drinks and 1 coconut smoothie boba. Total cost was about $54. Service was prompt and full of greetings. Only issue with service was that just because I am Asian, doesn't mean I should be assumed to eat a LARGE bowl of pho and not the small. I ordered all small bowls and got all large and thus was charged yhe cost of large. Repeated myself twice on size too... Quality of food was okay. Thai tea was not as sweet as other places: decent. Coconut smoothie was very coconutty. Spring rolls were very small compared to what I'm used to seeing; they are the size of eggrolls...for a higher cost that what I'm used to paying for. The peanut sauce was bland; not as good as I've had it at other places and a little more liquidy than other places as well. Combo fried rice was typical; not bad but not the best I've ever had either. Now for the pho--broth was very flavorful SPICE-WISE, but not BEEF BOTH AND NATURAL FLAVOR-WISE. If you're a frequent pho eater, you know what I mean. They did not have all the usual condiments a person would put into the pho. For example: there was no fish sauce or chili oil. The cuts, variety, and amount of meat in it was good. There were the usual side items like basil, cilantro, bean sprouts, and sliced jalapeños. But I've had better pho. I'm Asian, but not Vietnamese and have had better tasting pho broth homemade. Usually, Vietnamese has the best pho broth, but not here. The name of their restaurant should reflect the name of their restaurant; I'm expecting the best tasting broth of their highlighted dish. I only finished the meat from my bowl; not much the noodles nor the broth. I would say this place is okay for pho for people who don't know how good pho can taste. But for those who know and enjoy great tasting pho, then it's not for you and don't waste your time here. I cannot speak for the other items on the menu. I will probably never return here since I don't live in the area and even if I come through here, I'll probably try something else. read more

Walked in off the street on our way through due to the Yelp reviews. We were sat immediately (open seating) and attended to with menus. Opted for hot tea (it was spitting snow outside) and was delivered the appropriate time later after it steeped. Ordered the spring roll appetizers to start which we're wonderfully different than the usual fried ones you get elsewhere served with a peanut sauce. Every table gets a side dish of fresh basil, bean sprouts, cilantro, limes, and some other things I can't remember. These are apparently accruements for our impending meal. We ordered the shrimp pho and chicken cow mein, both excellent and plentiful servings. So, 4 spring rolls, shrimp pho, chow mein, and hot tea set us back $25 plus tip. I usually love this restaurant been coming here for years. Today I was served peanut sauce that was rotten. It had the consistency of snot or egg and the taste was just sour.
