Travelling for work and I was passing through Tehachapi last week. I was looking for something new and Taste of Siam came up on my app so I decided to drop by and give it a try as I love Thai food. The restaurant is small but it's very cozy and there are enough tables inside to accommodate a handful of groups. The staff is so friendly, I was welcomed by more than one person when I entered and the person that brought me the menu thanked me for coming in and went over the menu with me including telling me about their specials. I went for the pineapple fried rice, one of my favorite dishes and it did not disappoint. The portion size was great, more than enough to fill me up. It was bursting with flavor and had plenty of chicken and pineapple mixed in with the rice. I also had a Thai Iced Tea and it was great, the staff checked on me several times and were just very friendly and accommodating. I could do with a touch more spice in the dish but overall it was very good and I wouldn't hesitate to order it again. I'm not big on comparing places but there is another Thai location in Tehachapi that I've visited and I'll say with confidence Taste of Siam is better. This will be my new spot for Thai when I'm in the area and in the mood. Great food, great staff, great prices, a must try.

Very quiet for a late lunch but service was great. Tofu Pad Thai was delish. Just driving through on my way to Bakersfield, but will definitely stop again.

    Best Thai food in Tehachapi

Savory stir-fried eggplant and tofu with fresh vegetables in a rich, garlicky sauce. Flavorful and slightly oily, just like traditional style. Spice level: 5 is very hot -- recommend starting with a lower level if you prefer mild heat.

Tried on a whim after scrolling yelp and im so gladwe did. The food was amazing, top tier meats and ingredients. The orange chicken was well breaded and sauced, the steamed dumplings perfect, and the pad Thai was the best Ive had. Service was great, even after the rush started. A quiet, small restaurant that we will definitely be going to again, there's so much more to try!

This is our waiter Danny great guy.

Well tonight I ordered sticky rice / Mango and a perfect Coconut Sauce that brought the dish to the top stars for sure. Dan is always a great host for the Establishment. Doc.

This was by far one of the worst dining experiences I've ever had. When we came in to sit and eat, we waited over 20 minutes without anyone coming by to take our order or even refill our waters--we had to ask just to get water. Since no one was coming, we ended up placing a phone order instead. We arrived at 5:40 and didn't receive our food until 7:20. Throughout the wait, we were told things like "20 minutes left," "just need to grab the soda," or "your order will be ready after theirs." None of it was true, and there was no transparency on how long it would actually take. Meanwhile, a couple that came in after us was seated right away, had their order taken, and received four dishes before we even got our food. Not once did anyone apologize or try to make the situation right. Even the CUSTOMERS were acknowledging how long we were waiting because they received service and their food prior to us. One table shared their dessert because they felt bad with how long we sat there and no one came to our table to ask if we wanted to order. There was absolutely no sense of customer service. At the very least, some form of compensation should have been offered for the poor experience and wasted time. If it weren't for the fact that it was my birthday and I had traveled over two hours to celebrate with my father--who specifically wanted Thai food--I would have walked out and demanded a refund. To top it off our food was poorly packaged, sauce spilled out, and the chips for the salad aren't even sealed and just left in an open clear bag that spilled out! Completely unacceptable. Photos included to show the timeline of when we received our food and when it was placed. Even the online ordering isn't accurate and my friend received his order prior than us. An hour and a half for vegetable soup is ridiculous.

Taste of Siam is awesome!! My wife and I were afraid it would not be as good as the previous Thai restaurant that was located at this very same spot. Fortunately, Taste of Siam did not disappoint. My wife and I had a really good feeling that they'd be great because our wonderful friend Brittany recommended them. She said that they can make Mee Krob if we asked for it, and she was correct. We began our meal with the Mee Krob, and it tasted so very very good!! 5 stars for that appetizer! Pad Thai with Chicken was my choice. Always need to order this entree whenever I try a Thai restaurant for the first time. Their version left my tummy yummy and satisfied. 5 stars! Panang Curry with Beef was my wife's choice. Also 5 stars for this tasty dish! Tom Kha with shrimp was our companions choice for us all to share. My first time trying this soup. I loved it as well. Another 5 star winner! Banana Delight was our dessert. Unfortunately, they did not have Mango with Sticky rice available that evening. The Banana Delight was a terrific consolation prize. Thank you Brittany for recommending we give Taste of Siam a try!! Service provided by Dan was excellent! Restaurant looked terrific. In addition to the food tasting great. Prices were very reasonable and portion sizes were generous. In my opinion, Taste of Siam is the Best Thai restaurant in Kern County. Try them yourself when you are in Tehachapi.

Food is amazing! Service is outstanding! And the ambience is worth coming back! We are thankful for this hidden gem in Tehachapi.

Spicy chowmein, spring rolls, and Red Curry.

Our food was Delicious , the Restaurant is very nice inside, and Sarah our server was friendly and helpful! We highly recommend you try it! FYI they rate their meal spicy ness from 0 to 10, my 5 "SPICY Chowmein" was pretty HOT, 4 would have been better for me. My wife had her red curry at #7, but she likes it HOT, and she added even more hot spices!

Whether it's the rich, creamy curries, the incredible soups, perfectly balanced Pad Thai, or just about anything else on the menu, I've yet to have a meal that disappointed. Every dish tastes like someone actually cares about what's coming out of the kitchen--which, unfortunately, isn't something you can say about every restaurant these days. The flavors are bold without being overwhelming, the ingredients are fresh, and every visit reminds me why I keep coming back. It's the kind of place where you tell yourself you'll try something new... and then end up ordering your favorite because it's just that good. Thai Hachapi is proof that you don't have to drive to Los Angeles to find outstanding Thai food. Sometimes the best meals are hiding in plain sight. If you're in Tehachapi and craving Thai, don't overthink it. Just go. Your taste buds will be doing the wai while you're still asking for a to-go box.

The restaurant was overwhelmed by a very large party and the service of other parties severely suffered. There was barely any checking in with other tables as the larger party was served by all the staff. I couldn't even get a refill on water the entire time of my very long stay due to patiently waiting for my order to come out. The Mongolian beef was underwhelming and I won't return to this place on my next visit to Tehachapi.

Walking in, they had plenty of booths and tables that can accommodate both small and large groups. You order before you sit down, and they also have a self-serve water station. We tried the Egg Rolls (3 pieces) and Dumplings (5 pieces) for appetizers, and for our main meals we ordered the Beef Stew Soup and the Glass Noodle Chicken Soup. The egg rolls and dumplings were crispy and flavorful, and the sweet and sour dipping sauce paired well with both. I actually thought I had ordered the beef pho, so I was surprised when the beef stew came out but that was completely my mistake. It ended up being a pleasant surprise because it was hearty, full of flavor, and reminded me a lot of sopa de res. The Glass Noodle Chicken Soup was much lighter, with a clean, comforting broth that made for a great contrast to the rich beef stew. Both soups were generously portioned. The customer service was friendly, and the food came out fairly quickly. Overall, I had a great experience and look forward to coming back to try more items from their menu.

The restaurant was clearly overcrowded, and instead of handling the situation professionally, the owner became rude and disrespectful. The owner repeatedly complained that they were overwhelmed and couldn't handle additional guests. Eventually, we were asked to leave despite there being available seating when we arrived. I understand that restaurants can get busy, but there is no excuse for poor customer service or rude behavior toward paying customers. If a business cannot manage being at full capacity, it should have a better system in place rather than taking frustration out on guests. Unfortunately, based on this experience, I would not recommend this restaurant.

Our server was very attentive, sweet, and made sure to check in on us at different points during our meal. The great thing about the meal is that it's family style! We ordered the yellow curry and the pineapple fried rice. When the meal came out, they handed us separate plates for each of us to serve the portion we wanted. I only experienced a couple of negatives when it came to the food and that was: 1. The yellow curry was so delicious and had a nice coco-nutty flavor, but it felt like a few too many potatoes and not enough chicken. 2. The pineapple fried rice lacked pineapple. I love a few pineapple chunks in my fried rice but this had more of the pineapple flavoring and none of the actual fruit. Now, these aren't as much negatives as they are dish preferences. Everything still tasted solid and we left with our Thai food craving satisfied! Btw, make sure when you visit not to sleep on their dessert. The dessert is the best part! Well, let's just say I've had better potstickers from the grocery store's frozen section than this place... They were incredibly small and flavorless. If this is what is recommended, the steamed version must be inedible. Thankfully the Chicken Pad Thai actually had some flavor, but nothing to recommend to anymore. There is certainly better out there... This alone is definitely not a reason to go back. To make matters worse, it was pretty expensive... $31 for a plate and appetizer? No, just no. My favorite place at home for a huge plate and the same appetizer is $22, and my city is more expensive to live in. Heck, even amazing hole-in-the-wall Asian restaurants in Los Angeles (you know, one of the most expensive places to live) is cheaper than this place. And if this matters to anyone, the restaurant and restrooms are pretty beat up and dingy. It's not a comfortable or welcoming environment.
