I love coming here it's a lot of fun and different from your average sushi restaurant. If you sit at the sushi bar, you have different plates of delectable goodies that pass you and you can choose whatever sushi or other items your little heart desires. You can get seaweed salad, edamame, spring rolls, dumplings, and many different types of sushi. They will also make you special sushi rolls if you ask for them. Pricing goes by the color plates you choose. They have a special check in offer, you get free Thai Donuts which are soooo good, they're both warm and crispy,( I could eat A LOT of these) if you spend $35 or more and believe me, spending $35 is very easy to do here, given the choices you have! read more

By far my favorite place to eat any day. I'm a very particular about food and this place just does it for me. The quality of service is always superb. The taste and quality of the food is exceptional. It's very clear that the cooks make food with love. I never have to question the taste or their amazing dishes when I go to blue ginger. This place was so neat. I couldn't believe that these little boats were carrying so much goodness on them! Each boat carry's a plate and each plate is a different color. Each color represents a $ tier. But not jus that----the food was so good. They have sushi items floating by and some items for the hot kitchen! We love coming here because of the boats (variety of sushis to try at a great price) and how conveniently located it is. We generally have a great time here. Unfortunately today was not a good experience. The place was empty and we were seated immediately. For it being so empty, the service was horrible. Everything took long to come out. The table was dirty. We asked the waitress for napkins and she took an forever to bring it. We asked for forks and another 20 minutes waiting for forks. I asked for eel sauce and had to ask twice for it. I didn't end up having eel sauce for my meal. I am currently waiting for my dessert and it's been 15 minutes. One of our favorite sushi places to dine at . You can either sit at the sushi bar where they have boats with your favorite sushi going around, or you can sit at a table order from the menu . It does get crowded during prime hours of 6pm to 8pm on friday and Saturday but still very great food and prices . read more

The service was excellent, however, we were sub impressed by the food. The presentation was NOT what we were expecting and much nicer than we thought. We thought the sushi rolls were going to come individually in the skinny long white plates, but they put it all on one big plate! Very nice. What a great concept. Not that it is new, but this is my first Sushi Bar experience. I found this place when I was a Yelp Rookie. I was looking for sushi in broward and this place popped up with great reviews. At the time I was new to Yelp so I was a bit skeptical and passed on the opportunity to go there since it looked like an average sushi place at an outside strip mall next to Publix. Young grasshopper I was and a fool! I am proud to say that thanks to Yelp, this is one of my favorite Sushi establishments and overall best Sushi experiences to date. Yea it looks boring from the outside, but what is in the inside is what counts. It is neatly decorate with an upscale vibe. The restaurant features one big sushi bar in the middle. Typically you have a conveyor belt that moves plates along the bar, at this location, they have a canal with boats flowing around the bar and the plates are placed on top of the boats. One of the coolest things I've ever seen. The plates are color coded into prices. Purple, yellow, green, red, blue, or $2, $3, $4, $5, $6 respectively. As you eat, you stack your plates and add up the colors and you have your price. Their plates are delicious and they have appetizers, sides, sushi, and hot plates flowing down the river. It is all delicious and I always rack up the bill. I have a thing for those blue plates, oh why do I always end up getting four or five when I tell myself to go for yellow and green plates every time, LOL! You also have traditional seating around the bar where you can order from the menu. Who wants to do that when there is an awesome river of flowing greatness? It is not like the regular seats are empty, as a matter of fact it is always full and there is always a wait when I've gone. Food presentation is superb. You almost feel like every dish you ordered is a masterpiece of sushi art. I love this place and so does my girlfriend. It is a great place for a fun date. Pretty far from my usual stomping ground but well worth the trip. Everything was fresh and tasty and very reasonably priced, by color coordinated little plates served to you from ordering off the menu or scooping them up off the 'river' by yourself. The Gyoza was so good I scarfed down my own plate than had another. The chicken Yakatori ,very yummy. Really enjoyed everything I had I was in a party of about 20 people and the whole rest of the place was very busy too. Wait staff really hustled and always with a smile. Only thing that seemed strange to me was people finishing the contents of their little color coordinated plates and casually pushing them away then changing seats to sit by and talk to someone else...A couple errant plates got pushed toward me during the course of the evening But when I explained that they weren't mine, they were taken off my check immediately. I did noticed the 'owners' of those plates never came back to the end of the table where the plates had been left. We went on a friend's recommendation. The concept is really cool - the sushi bar is surrounded by a mote of water, and you sit with open access to the mote. These little sushi boats float along carrying different dishes, and you grab what you want to eat as it floats by. We started at the bar, and sampled many of the dishes that were delicious. The portions are small, with only a few bites on each plate, so you are not committed to any one for your whole meal. We were meeting friends, and the 2 seats reserved for then were next to the entrance to the kitchen. I could tell that when they arrived they would actually be blocking the kitchen entrance, not a good thing. And they can get really crowded, so there were not any additional seats at the bar. We cashed out and moved to a table so we would all be comfortable. Once at the table we just ordered from the regular menu. The drawback of the bar concept is that they only prepare certain rolls for the boats, and once you tried them there is not much variation. I could see many more rolls on the menu, that I think if you request at the bar they would put on the boats, but it was hard to know what was actually made already and what to request. We ordered more rolls once our friends got there. They were all delicious, and I have no complaints. It is a small restaurant, and once you are over the novelty of the boats, it is just a good sushi restaurant with a standard sushi menu. read more

Having moved to the "country" I was expecting to not have many good sushi choices this far west. Eating at Sushi Sake did not do anything to ease my fears that I would have to venture back east of I-95 to get any decent sushi. Lo and behold in the strip mall next to my Publix there is sushi gold to be found in Southwest Ranches! I've had takeout here several times but every time I've come in to pick up my order this place has been packed. I guess now I know where all the soccer moms in the burbs go for a night out haaaaaaaayyy! Blue Ginger has a pretty nice interior with the boats floating around the bar for self-serve sushi. Based on my takeout experience though, the a-la carte rolls are legit. Some favorites rolls are the Sexy Tuna, Florida Roll and Spicy Girl. All were very good and the fish here is great quality. I would say that my favorite roll would be the Ocean Drive Roll. You get both tuna and Yellowtail with avocado in a soy wrap instead of rice. The cilantro, lime, and chili oil really give this roll a unique bright and silky taste which is out of this world. Dinner reservations for 4. The neon sign was off, so we thought they were closed but a small "open" sign was lit. Walking in, I was a little disappointed. It's smaller and maybe a little less elegant as some of the photos suggest. It's still very nice and I should note it was pretty busy. Overall food quality: 4/5 Service quality: 2/5 Some tables were served well but ours wasn't. Only half the table received silverware and I received a dirty plate. Nobody received napkins. She disappeared after the food came and we wanted to run more drinks but she never made any appearances. Total order of 2 hot saki, 2 beers, 3 appetizers, and 4 entres for under $140. Plus with yelp we received free thai donuts, yum! I might come back for the food but wont allow them to seat us in a booth to be neglected a 2nd time. Blue Ginger is definitely a one of a kind restaurant. One of the larger sushi places I've been to and the bar idea with the conveyor belt of sushi, who would have though of that? I love the atmosphere here and they cater to large parties. I came here on a Saturday night and it was pretty packed, my waitress was good for the most part. I decided to get the happiness roll, I was a little skeptical having steak on my sushi but I am so glad I ordered it. It has a good little kick to it and the steak goes so well with the roll. The sushi was good, not the best I've had but a better sushi joint in the Pembroke Pines area. I enjoyed my time here. Next time I come I will definitely like to check out the bar. Only hit about this place is that they are not open for lunch during the week! Check them out - You won't regret it. read more

Very unique dining!!! And very tasty neighborhood gem. We sat at the bar and there's a huge ring of water that floats boats right in front of your seat, on each little boat is some sort of food [sushi, edamame, sashimi, etc]. You grab what you want and based on the color of your plate that's how they bill you. See my pix for a visual. Most had 3 or 4 pieces of sushi on it, which is just great to get a taste of the roll and see if you want some more. I do think you land up spending a bit more money then if you went to a traditional sit down place, individually our bills ran around $40 [we also shared sake]. One of the sushi chefs also plays the flute behind the sushi bar which is a rather unique addition to the ambiance. If it's your birthday get ready! My only 3 things are: 1) it gets very busy so people were standing by the front door to get in and were waiting to sit at the bar. I hate feeling like there's eyes on me to hurry up and get up from my seat so someone else can sit down. Then I felt like I was on the other end of an Olympic trial when I got up b/c there were gladiators contending for my seat! 2) There's no names on the boats of what the food is, so you are left 'guessing' what the roll could be, what's in it, and if you would like it. I had to ask the waiter a couple times what the food was. I don't enjoy Salmon so I try to steer clear of that! 3) They didn't have salad with dressing floating by. This is my go to sushi spot locally! I love their rotating boat bar. So what's the reason for 2 stars on this visit? Firstly, when we first walked in we were standing there for 5 minutes for anyone to acknowledge us because the owner was too busy on her phone. After she realized there was ppl standing there she sat us. I dont mind waiting to be seated, but the fact that we walked in and weren't greeted and had to wait for her to get off of her cellphone was ridiculous. It wasnt busy at the moment. Secondly, the service was terrible. We've come here many times and the service was never this bad even when they were busy. Good thing we ordered our roll when we got our waters, but we were checked up on once after that. My water was running low and it took until the end of my meal for them to refill it. Also another good thing is that we sat at the rotating bar so we were able to grab whatever sushi we wanted. Thank God we didnt order from the kitchen or else we would of never gotten any attention or our food. We had a girl server to begin and she abandoned us after checking up on us once. She gave attention to the ppl next to us plenty of times, but never thought to ask how we were doing, would we like to place another order, do you need more water? But thank God Juan (another waiter) gave us attention and refilled my water, even though I was already done with my meal. I asked him if I could redeem their checkin offer because I noticed that it was expired and i showed him my phone. He wanted to take my phone and bring it to his boss. I found that wierd. He should of asked me to go ask her or bring her over. You dont just take people's phones and bring it to your boss, that's a liability. Will they pay for my phone if God forbid he drops it? Will they be liable for the damages? Not very smart thinking in my opinion. So anyways, I told him I would just walk up to her and ask. I walked up to her and asked and she said they would honor it, cool I thought. So here goes my third reason why for the 2 stars. Thirdly, we were waiting for someone to give us attention yet again so I could order the thai donuts and get my check so I could be on my way. Of course no one gave attention. We were just sitting there, the waiters/waitresses saw us just sitting there with our plates stacked, done eating but never came up to us and asked if we wanted the check, would we like anything else? I tried to get Juan's attention, but he just walked by me when I said excuse me. So I finally got up and asked the owner for my check. She got mad and asked her workers whose station is this? Wow now you want to act like you guys have good service. Of course I never got the thai donuts because that would of probably took an hour with the attention we were getting. I always tip and when I do it's usually 18% or more depending on the service I am received. I understand the industry, but I was furious already from when I walked in. So I decided to give their tip to the sushi chefs because they paid more attention to us. I gave them 2 stars because their sushi is sufficient for being one of the few local sushi spots. It makes sense why their second location didnt work out. I will not be returning or recommending this place anymore until they fix their service. NOTE: I am not one to bash on restaurants. This was my first time eating sushi like this! Little floating boats that drag around the sushi bar area! Each floating boat has a different color plate of sushi / appetizers / japanese foods on top and you grab whatever you like. How different, haha. I definitely enjoyed eating here. Sushi bar gets full quick so expect at least a 15-minute wait on a weekend night. BUT the sushi bar area is not your only option! They have booths and tables around the sushi bar that's good for big groups (instead of waiting forever to sit together at the bar). You can order off their menu, which has the same options as the foods floating around. My only issue was lack of variety in the options bustling around. Most of the plates were the $5 or $6 plates (which are the most and that's how you calculate your bill). I rarely saw the $2 or $3. I honestly don't even know the type of food that comes out on the $2/$3 plates, except edamame. The $5-$6 are maybe like 3-4 pieces of a fusion/full sushi roll (lots of ingredients, could be wrapped in soy paper! yummm). I had the cold ceviche, which was one of my top 3 choices that night. The salmon sashimi was a bit frozen so . . it wasn't as enjoyable as it could have been. I was pretty full after 4-5 plates but I know my guy friends weren't. Mainly because there wasn't that much to choose from :/ You can also order anything off the menu or anything you'd like from the sushi chef in front of you! They're very interactive and one of them even played the flute for us! Nothing like some Beatles and fresh sushi on a Saturday night, haha. This place is definitely a must-try though! Especially if you're like me and never tried this type of "boat sushi" before lol. Though the place is usually packed, the wait is turned over quickly, especially for a party of 2 or 4 who wants to sit at the barz. If you're wanting table service, be prepared to wait and also to lose the enjoyment of the restaurant all together since the place is known for the sushi boats and the custom sushis too made on the spot, if you request it. I've visited this location a few times already but one of the last ones was for my birthday. All in all, memorable birthday dinner, not just enjoying it with family but of the service and the custom roll given. Not expecting for this to happen, I decided to request a sushi that wasn't listed, but more of leaving the creativity to the sushi experts. And wow, to my surprise, they shocked me with a delicious roll. Ha, I truly don't remember what I was given other than it was spicyly delicious. Oh yeah, the bar. It has little boats! With food! They float past you! It's Fun! We agreed to sit at the bar, and waited about 25 minutes. Which is OK, we figured you would wait the same amount if you sat at a table and ordered. They have a simple system at the bar. Pick the plate, it has a color, different colors for different prices. There were a few hits and misses in the courses. Among the hits: A tuna roll that was out of this world. Among the misses: An omelet that had probably been neglected for a few laps around the patrons. Bleh. They had a check-in offer that was expired and I didn't even bother to use it. So that was lame. This is definitely a restaurant you should visit. You don't usually see any sushi conveyor belts around, but in this case.. this restaurant has floating boats going around their bar! They have 5 color plates, ranging from $2-$6. You should come a little early to get good seats at the bar. When its prime time.. expect to wait if you want to enjoy the floating boats. Luckily I got to see right where the floating boats begin, so you get first dibs of what comes out of the kitchen! Sometimes sushi chefs will walk around to find empty boats to put plates in, but there's a whole bunch that come from the kitchen as well. A lot of the tasty looking plates was $6.. (of course the good stuff is usually the expensive stuff!) My favorite was these gigantic seared scallops. If you see one floating around, you should definitely grab it! Other dishes that were tasty was grilled edamame, lobster roll, sliced octopus and some other sushi rolls. You may want to keep a menu with you if you have trouble figuring out which sushi is on the plate or simply ask the chef. Also, I'm not usually a sake fan, but their sake-tini was yummy! Fresh sushi rolls, sashimi and other delicious items made right in front of you, then placed on boats which float around the bar. All plates are color coded by price as you just grab what you wish and pile up your plates. Most dishes range from $4-$6 so prices are reasonable, you're also free to order anything you don't see and the sushi chefs will gladly accommodate. Some plates do rotate around for hours so choose wisely and always look out for fresh items just placed on a boat. Found it really busy for a Monday night but that just means fresher and more frequently rotated food!! We were given a free strawberry mochi ice cream after the waitress left us waiting far too long the first time we asked for it, but her genuine apology and the mochi on the house, were more than compensating. HORRIBLE! I found this place by reading the reviews on yelp. I expected great things about this place based on what I read. I have my usual go to sushi spot in coral springs, but it was too far of a drive. Either way, I dined in on a Friday night. It was packed (which i thought was a good sign). However, it took 30min to be seated. We ordered two rolls, the lobster tempura roll, and the tempura maki roll. out took over an hour to get our food. The service was terrible and slow. The waitress was inattentive. She hardly came to check on us, or even stop by to say sorry for the wait but the food should be out shortly. She did nothing. we had nothing on the table, napkins, soy sauce, dipping cups for the soy sauce, chop sticks. She forgot all of that. FINALLY, when the food came out we were excited by the presentation. However, that was short lived! the lobster roll had more tempura than lobster (like sweet and sour chicken that is all batter and hardly any chicken) DISAPPOINTING! paid around $23 for the lobster roll and it barely had any lobster, all crunch! The tempura maki roll was ok. Nothing to brag about. THE MOST DISGUSTING THING ABOUT THIS PLACE were the restrooms. It was the ultimate turn off. It had NO toilet paper, and NO soap to wash your hands and it was filthy with brown paper towel piled in the corner from people having to wipe but not able to flush the hard paper! Furthermore, if the bathroom had no soap HOW are the EMPLOYEES WASHING THEIR HANDS?! I complained twice about this, once while we were waiting to be seated, and again when we were leaving 2 hrs later and I noticed it had not been rectified. I will NEVER eat here again. Top notch service with a commanding presence from the sushi chefs! The small river that floats around the bar is really cool too! Second sushi place I've been to that had something like that. Different colored plates get you a certain price point for the dish you choose. Highly recommend to sit at the bar and be mesmerized at the skills of each chef. Beef and Tuna Takaki were excellent as well as the Happiness Roll and South Beach Roll! We left happy and satisfied. Good thing we came right before a big dinner rush! What can I say I'm a huge fan of blue ginger. This place is always busy but wait time is usually quick. I always like sitting at the bar with the sushi boats! They have a great selection and if you are craving anything you can request it to the chef and he will make it for you. At the bar you'll see a card with the prices per plate depending on the color and at the end depending how many plates you had they bill you. I've never had a bad experience here their fried rice is amazing and fresh! The sake selection is good always a lot of variations to pick from. My new favorite is now the strawberry sake it is sweet but so good! If you're in the area and craving sushi you can't go wrong! read more

What an awesome find! I spent the weekend at the Bonaventure Resort in Weston. My friend and I were really craving sushi. Unfortunately, the Yelp! reviews for most of the local places sounded less than desirable. We opted for the best rated one nearby and ended up at Blue Ginger. This place was a great find! The modern decor was nice and the staff were friendly and helpful. We sat at the bar and enjoyed the many sushi options that floated by in front of us on these super cute sushi boats. They have different Japanese dishes and sushi rolls on different colored plates. Each color plate costs a different price (with 3-4 sushi pieces, ranging from $3-6 per plate) depending on what's in the roll. The coolest part about this is that you could spend the same amount of money on one roll, only you get to try 3-4 different ones! They also have booths and tables and a full menu for you to order from, if you prefer that instead. We ended up eating in record speed and our eyes were definitely bigger than our stomachs! We left full and happy. The entire meal ended up being around $45, without drinks. We will definitely be back! I recommend you check this sushi place out. read more
