We came in for happy hour and let me tell you we were not disappointed in a single thing. Our server Mike was amazing. He guided us through the menu and helped us pick out some incredible options. The drinks were fantastic, the service was attentive, and everything came out perfectly timed. The happy hour deals are unbelievable maki rolls for $14 and appetizers for $8. You really cannot beat that for the quality. The food itself was phenomenal. If you love scallops, these were some of the best I've ever had. Katana is ok. I would not categorize it as the best dining experience ever like some reviewers have stated. Weston has some outstanding restaurants and I would not say this one is one of the best. It's definitely a nice restaurant with a lovely and chic decor, but they appear to be suffering from shrinkflation as prices are high and the portions are very small. In particular, I would recommend to stay away from the grilled octopus. It was $26 and literally was one small tentacle that was probably no more than 2 ounces. We brought this to the attention of the manager and she tried to gaslight us when we complained it used to be a bigger portion. I don't think we will be retuning. read more

Bumped into this little gem while running errands today with my husband. We had heard about this place from some friends who came and had a great experience. So we decided to give it a try. Right away we were welcome by a friendly staff member that was station at the front entrance. She asked if we had a preference for seating which I thought was very nice of her. We didn't so she picked a lovely spot near a window for us. Our server was Sebastian quickly came over and introduced himself. Although our waiter Diego did a good job initially going over the menu, after our order, that was it. Not even water was filled without hunting someone down. We ordered the gyoza, acevichado roll & lomo saltado. The gyoza had good flavor to it and we enjoyed the acevichado roll as well. Food and service are quite good and this fusion restaurant replaces the former Miyoko Japanese restaurant that used to occupy this space. Though I miss Miyoko's more casual interior, the glitzy and sparkly interior is nice and suitable for a casual or business meal. We asked for recommendations from our waitress and were suggested the ceviche, tiradtios and a roll. We went with all of the above including the lomo saltado (which was arguably too much food) and everything was excellent except for the acevichado roll. The ceviche (we went with the puplo tres ajies which includes white fish and grilled octopus) was fresh and delicious though our sushi roll (a more cooked tempura style roll with too much sauce) felt off. In hindsight I'd recommend going with a more traditional raw fish roll. Overall, the service was attentive (though not overbearing) and the meal was fresh and tasty. We went in a Sunday evening and had a reservation. Our server was a nice older gentleman but we could not understand him that well. He got our order and we had no issues. We shared the salmon bun and the crispy rice with salmon. Both smallish servings but very tasty. And visually appealing. I had the Parmesano roll and it's delish. Melted it my mouth like buttah! I have to admit when the prior restaurant closed in Katana's location, I was sad because it had been there since day one of the strip mall (forever!) I changed my mind last night as I walked into Katana and was transported out of Weston. A lot is thought and effort was put into the design. It is beautiful inside. The little cherry blossom light fixtures on the table take up a little too much room on the table but the effect it gives on the ambiance is worth it. I felt like I was in a restaurant that normally I'd have to drive to Miami or Ft Lauderdale for. The menu is a mix of Peruvian and Japanese cuisine. Katana is owned by Olenka, who has been in Weston for a few years. We started with the octopus. It has been a long time where octopus has been served as a full tentacle vs chopped in little pieces. It was accompanied by potatoes and avocado. The plate is a starter but can definitely be eaten as a meal. It was so good and tender and flavorful. We also had the avocado tar tar. Also delicious but would have been easier to eat with some type of chip to eat it with. For meals, I had pan seared salmon. It was served with salad, avocado, and sweet potato. Not sure how the sweet potato was prepared, but it was delicious! Everything on the plate was delicious. My husband had the lomo saltado. He said it was the best he ever had. He asked to swap the rice for quinoa and he loved it. He had been used to having it with fries, but it was served with purple potatoes. We ended with the best flan we have ever had. There was a little bit of a language barrier, as we don't speak Spanish, but we made it work and it didn't hurt the evening.
