We went there hungry and left happy! I had the Pecan encrusted salmon, one word phenomenal cooked perfectly. I had double vegetables rather than a starch and they where really good. My SO ordered the grouper & shrimp Cajun special there was none left, he truly enjoyed it. Our waitress Joanna was extremely helpful & nice. Such a cute little restaurant! We stopped in on our first night here in Sanibel. Seated promptly, immediately asked for drinks and what we wanted to order, our food came back out to us in less than ten minutes. Not only did the food look great, but it was hot, fresh, and tasty! Our waiter was the perfect amount of attentive, not too little and not too much. Slightly pricey given the size of the portions...Dinner for three people cost more than $70! This is the worst restaurant in Sanibel! The food tastes like reheated food from Walmart. It made my whole party sick all night. DO NOT GO HERE! The servers are horrible and they are very rude. It's in the heart of Sanibel. Convenient if you are shopping at the Periwinkle Place. I wouldn't go out of my way to go to this place. There are plenty of restaurants along the main road on Sanibel. My chicken sandwich was phenomenally average, but my wife's salad (chicken w/blue cheese, strawberries and apricots) was really good. This review is based on a scale of 'what's available on Sanibel/Captiva'. Have been eating across the islands for four years and, with few exceptions, the restaurants are all variations on a theme...fried fish. The Blue Giraffe is not a fish restaurant. It features a pleasantly varied menu executed well in an attractive setting. Most recently my husband and I enjoyed baby back ribs and a duck sandwich both of which were tender and tasty. The wait staff is friendly, the desserts are good and the hand painted tables are attractive. The food is not overpriced. read more

Good food. Salmon stuffed with crabmeat was enjoyed greatly by my son. Wife's margarita flat bread was not good at all as it was flat bread with a piece of mozzarella cheese and tomatoes. We brought a large family. A ordered various things. I ordered the blackened grouper (at market price -which ended up being $24.99!!!) - I had Mahi the night before at another local restaurant that was only $17 and a much nicer piece of fish. The fish smelled bad when it came out. The texture was off and it tasted horrible. When I told the server I wasn't happy with it, he just took my plate. Not offering to reduce the fee, exchange my food out. Nothing. Service was slow. Granted we had a large party. Not a place I would recommend or ever go back too. read more

A first time for me to give a bad review. My salad was disgusting. The duck was probable frozen and quickly warmed in a microwave before serving. It did smell really bad. Hidden gem on Sanibel Island. Had the fish tacos at lunch and they were amazing, someone else had the burrito and it was great as well. Went back for breakfast the next day and had the fried chicken on a biscuit with gravy, eggs and home fries. It was possibly the best breakfast I have ever had. Visited Sanibel this past weekend and tried Blue Giraffe. Usually we frequent the Island Cow but after looking up their Health Inspection reports I got a little skeeved out so we decided on Blue Giraffe. We got there about 330pm and there wasn't much of a crowd. We sat outside. My wife and I both ordered the Tex Mex burger and out daughter order penne pasta and French fries. Service was quick and efficient. Burgers arrived and we weren't disappointed, but we weren't blown away either. All in all it was a decent experience but the menu seemed very big and kind of all over the place. By the looks of it and the crowd this is more of a bar atmosphere and clientele. read more

we visited last month. slow service sprinkled with moderate rudeness. mediocre location and atmosphere. the fried shrimp were so greasy and overcooked you'd barely have recognized them. the dipping sauce was warm, which I didn't like. We were doing some shopping in the area and decided to stop in and try the Blue Giraffe. I had the classic turkey bacon club on toasted wheat bread with a side of fries.
