The only reason we are giving four instead of five stars is because they did not have a brown rice option for the sushi and the service was a bit slow. Only stopped in here to grab a drink on a Friday night but just before I was there I was at That Meetball Place across the street and ordered a Blue Point Toasted Ale from the tap. I mention this only because I ordered the same beer on tap at Blue Hawaiian and it tasted disgusting. They must not clean their lines regularly. Since our friends wanted to stay we just ordered bottled drinks for the rest of the night. They pour mean shots but I was very disappointed with the taps. Please clean your lines. read more

I went to Blue Hawaiian a couple of weeks ago to grab drinks with my friends. The bar was absolutely empty, which was nice, but I know why: the food and drinks. We ordered "loaded fries," which were just cheese fries, and sushi, both of which took over 30 minutes to make. The fries were tasty, but overpriced. This was my first experience where sushi was absolutely inedible. It was warm and the texture was just off. Drinks were overpriced, mostly mixer, very little liquor. Ay this point, we should have been heading home but we walked down from the Dominican place Cade to the Nutty Irishman to the Meet Ball, but they had a line outside. I'm not one for lines anymore lol... so we went across to the Blue Hawaiian for a coupe of beers. They had a female DJ and she was jamming the place so we hung out for a while. The bar keeps for good pretty cool as well. Will be back for a brew or two when we stop by the Rolling Spring Roll. read more

Not a good experience. We went and it wasn't crowded at all last night when we arrived at about 12am. The bouncer gave my friend a hard time and made him produce a second form of identification, lucky enough he had a credit card on him. We stayed a bit and I went up to a dark haired bartender and asked for a glass of water as one of my friends wanted to sober up. She ignores me at first, I ask again and she says, " Okay but I will have to charge you for a bottle of water". I say "You are charging for tap water?" (which isn't that illegal in bars?) and she says yes. So I say no way and I wait for the other bartender to come up. I go up and ask her, "Are you charging for water?" to which she replied, "No..". I told her what happened to which she basically said, in short, some tenders and the owner screw over the people they don't believe are of age. Not only is this horrible but I also had to show my license getting in. The bartender didn't ask to see my license. If she thought I was under age and didn't trust the bouncers judgment, why not ask to see my license? The second bartender was extremely nice and gave me water, but my friends and I will not return here if this is how they treat their patrons or cheat some people. DON'T SUPPORT THIS BAR. read more

I didn't know Blue Hawaiian existed. Seriously. When did it open? How long has it been there? The inside is really nice, I'll start with that. It reminded me of Last Call, possibly my favorite bar in Farmingdale, but for mostly the wrong reasons. The place was DESERTED on a Friday night. Completely empty. And this was after we left Republic because it was too crowded. The good news is they have a pool table. The other good news is that there was plenty of room to play because the place was totally empty. The bad news was the latter half of that last sentence. I get the feeling this place won't last too long, which is sad. It seems to me like it doesn't know if it wants to be a restaurant or a bar. The name definitely does not sound like the name of a bar. Maybe that's why it was empty. It is in a great location, it just has the name of a Hawaiian restaurant. It seems like they have a good selection of specialty shots. Maybe next time. read more

If you're looking for some place with a down to earth, earthy atmosphere with a slight tropical theme, and a local paradise to vacate your mind to, then this is your place. What you get here, is hospitality and great customer service. Lisa G is an amazing hostess and a genuine person. Just for the sake of how hospitable she is, that shows this place will take care of you. That alone makes a bar worth enjoying so you can unwind after a rough day at work. read more

Made an account just to tell my story of how awful I thought this place was. Overpriced, tiny venue and AWFUL bouncer. Bouncer did not believe my REAL New York State ID and kept asking me if it was fake. Was rude and came off as if he was going to call police even though my ID was real. Wouldn't let me in until I produced a school ID or credit card. Really? Good luck going here if you're out of state. Once inside, the prices were insane as it cost $12 for two of the smallest shots I have seen in my life. Plus they don't accept all credit cards so make sure you bring cash if you go. Inside is very small and not well-kept. My friends and I paid and left immediately. Will NOT be returning. Did not have these issues at any of the other bars on main street. For a place that is surrounded by great bars, they should really rethink how they treat customers and their pricing. Was treated MUCH BETTER at Croxley's across the street. read more

Bar is horrible. Nice looking but horrible the have no identity owner doesn't know how to run a bar. They don't do buy backs they charge you for everything. They have probably the strangest variety of bartenders and now their bouncer is a bartender. Weird I guess they can't find bouncers or find people to bar tend. With all the other bars on Main Street I wouldn't make this a destination. It's not a restaurant like it says it's a bar that has a great look but no identity. read more

I was super unimpressed with the service at this bar. It's pretty common knowledge that Main St. in Farmingdale is usually frequented by college students, but I still expect to be treated well! The location is pretty small and has a jukebox that is controlled by the patrons, which is nice. There are pool tables, a few booths & a small dance floor. As far as getting a drink..if you don't know the bartender by name, don't hold your breath. The night my sister and I went out there were signs everywhere that said "Buy one, get one" which was the only reason we decided to stop in. The sign was VERY vague and since we couldn't seem to get anyone's attention to inquire about it, we just ordered shots of Patron. When we finally asked about the sign we were told by 1 bartender that shots aren't included. A second bartender told us shots were included, but not top shelf (he gave us 3 free shots of some cheap tequila) and then what I believe is a manager told us shots were not included in such a nasty way it took everything in me not to drag her over that bar she was hiding behind. I will never come back to this establishment, nor would I recommend it to anyone. They need to realize that there are several BETTER bars on the same block they're on & they can and will (eventually) be replaced *flips hair* read more

This bar was part of the Santacon bar crawl in Farmingdale. It was the worst one on the stop. The bar itself looks really nice but the bartenders were not good. I managed to get drinks at all the other bars that were packed, yet here I was right at the bar and didn't get served. (They were not that crowded) The bartenders kept passing me over and over again and returning to people they already served. When one of the bartenders finally came over to me I asked what was in their Christmas shots that were listed walking in, and she didn't know! She pointed to the male bartender and said he made them and walked away. She didn't even tell him to go over to help us. I don't understand how all of the bartenders were not taught how to make the shots listed. Needless to say my group of friends and I walked out and didn't get any drinks. I've been here a couple of time and each time has been horrible the bartenders are great the owner on the other hand not so much......she is nosey and very demanding and doesn't know how to treat customers. The kitchen is extremely dirty and the food is stored in a beverage cooler. They have a rat in the kitchen and do not store the sauces properly. I'm surprised this place is still open as of 3/3/2015 . . . I was extremely disappointed on my visit. I was there for a party in December - drinks had ZERO alcohol in them. Buffet was laid out on plastic that was covering the pool table. They didn't have enough forks to go around - but since the food was so bad that turned out to not be a problem. Then some woman starts coming around to charge the women $10 so they can get BOGOs. When you're a new restaurant trying to get new customers you don't jerk around the guests at someone's party or you'll never see them again . . . this disaster of a restaurant will never see me again. And no one that attended that party with me has returned either. There are too many good places in Farmingdale and nearby for me to waste my time and money in a place this bad. read more

Went there for a fund raiser. The food was very good and I asked the bartender where they catered from as it was mostly Chinese food. They said they made it there which I was shocked to hear. Then I realized that the proprietor and some of the help were Asian so it sort of made sense. I just wasn't expecting Chinese food in a bar. read more
