The cafe itself is pretty small, which was a suripise, but not in a bad way. They have *blue* bench seating wrapping around the front and right side, with five small tops lines up to sit at. While I was in, it was definitely busier than seating could accomdate, but hey that's a good thing. I went for the vanilla latte with almond mild, which comes as a 12oz. Nine bucks is heafty for a latte in my humble opinion, but it was tasty nonetheless. Blue Hour Coffee is a great new place in Milwaukee and had been hyped for so long I had to stop by. Their menu is on the smaller side. I had the madagascar vanilla latte and my friend had the blueberry matcha. Hers was a little on the sweeter side while mine could have been sweeter & was a little too bitter for my taste. Regardless, I'm glad I tried this place out. Employees were wonderful and even let us try a new drink they are workshopping (caramel popcorn latte?!). It was AMAZING and tasted just like caramel popcorn, which was mind blowing. Will definitely be back for that once they roll it out!! read more

Blue Hour Coffee was such a vibe. The interior was decorated with moody lights and blueish hues which fit the theme of the coffee place. The restaurant had seating for about 10-15 people, but seemed like they could fit space for more. Overall, the matcha was it! It was so freaking delicious. I loved the vanilla bean addition. It wasn't overly sweet and the matcha was for sure high quality. The banana lattes were okay to us. The syrup was super thick and didn't really blend into the coffees well, so the hot one had just a sludge at the bottom and wasn't very satisfying at the end. The iced one was easier to mix in but maybe wasn't our favorite. Pastry was good. Definitely would go back with rotating menu options. read more

Very stylish and clean space with one of those trendy Chicago-coffee-shop vibes - especially the line situation. Honestly haven't seen that kind of crowd for a Milwaukee café in years. I even mentioned it to one of the guys there, and he told me one of the main people behind the shop is actually from Chicago... which suddenly made perfect sense haha. Coffee-wise, everything was thoughtfully done. The staff was super friendly and genuinely passionate about drinks and coffee equipment. They use a La Marzocco setup and even have their own drip tower / Kyoto-style brewer for in-house cold brew, so equipment nerd in me = very happy. Drinks I tried: * Vanilla Latte (hot) - default 12 oz, which is honestly my perfect latte size. Smooth, balanced, comforting. * Banana Foster Latte (iced) - default 16 oz. Very smooth and well made, though a little sweet for my personal taste. But to be fair, it's clearly meant to be more of a dessert-style coffee drink, and it does that well. * Mont Blanc - Kyoto-style cold brew based drink that was super refreshing with a subtle hint of orange peel. Probably my favorite of the three. *Iced Sesame Matcha: hands down the best sesame matcha I've had (I frequent matcha shops in Chicago and Asia). Love the nutty / real black sesame flavor *iced Ube Matcha: an ice-cream like dessert drink but you can still taste the strong matcha. Highly recommend this one, too. The danish was good! It was advertised they were 15% off but I don't think they applied that to our total. 7$ for cold brew (wasn't even on the menu) and $8 for the banana foster late. The danish was delish, the drinks were ok. The cashier was quite short with us and not very helpful. There was two of us chatting about what we wanted in front of the cashier (the only menu is at the front of the line, tiny) and she rang us up like we were done ordering.. Vibes were good. Besides the cashier the baristas were nice. Trash can should be by the drinks (to throw away straw wrappers). May go back but won't go out of my way to! Def give it a try though! read more

Espresso tonic needs work. Other than that it's a basic shop with a cool vibe. Definitely feels like an art exhibit in there towards the back. Drinks are kind of expensive with not too much to show, definitely a place for the fancy latte enjoyer as opposed to the simple espresso drinks. read more

Rode my bike from North Shore to Upper East Side to attend Blue Hour's grand opening day. They had a variety of lattes, teas and refreshers with different flavors: matcha, hibiscus, Ube, black sesame, etc. There was a really cool, diverse crowd that showed up to support. It gave LA / West Coast vibes, because it was a perfectly funny 77 degree day. I'm excited to get how this place evolves, but clearly they're on the right track. After a long stroll on the Oak Leaf trail, sweat sheening my face and my calves burning from my newfound hobby of the rollerblade, I stopped into this tucked in shop for an icy milk delight. I was greeted with a "hello" and a step back as they realized I was wearing my blades. They seemed delighted to attract such a sustaining young crowd that is ready for new experiences. I blushed back, and ordered the black sesame matcha. As I waited, I looked around at the atmosphere that could only be described as an Italiana mid century ice creamery. After that short pause of a crafting session from the barista, my drink came out. I ogled at the drink for some short seconds because of the black sesame garnish against the dark green matcha. Something that caught my eye about this in the first place was just how well they took care of their presentation in their photos, as well as their graphic design. These tiny details, see, make a whole lot of difference. Finally: a taste. Oh boy what a treat! It was exactly what my winded body was yearning for. This thing was gone in 4 minutes flat. The nuttiness of the sesame and earthy matcha mixed with just the tiniest bit of sweetness nursed me back to hydration. Maybe because I have never had sesame and matcha together it made the experience that much dazzling, but honestly, every flavor was really catching my eye on their menu.
