I really loved the atmosphere here! It's clean, open, inviting, and somehow calming. The unique thing is you can get both good sushi as well as good Thai food at the same restaurant! I've passed by Blue Mango so many times on the way to Target & Trader Joe's. I finally got a chance to try it for dinner and I ordered their shrimp fried rice. There were only 2 shrimps in there total, which was kind of a bummer. The shrimp was also pretty bland, as was the dish in general. Service was also meh. I would think there would be curry powder or curry dipping sauce but they give a small side of curry which doesn't even hold onto the curry when dipped. First time here, got the coconut soup (with tofu) and some lemonades. The lemonades aren't made with real fruits, syrup flavorings with toilet lemonade. He also got the mushroom mountain and said he's glad I didn't taste it because that shit was disappointing too. I've been to the past location off Stevens Creek, and was glad to come back to this newer location. Our waitress was really bubbly and nice. I saw lots of people ordering sushi, but we our large party all opted for Thai. Normally I don't like the complimentary lunch soup, but theirs is really good and vegan friendly! Hot curly fries with a curry dipping sauce is genius! So delicious! I ordered panang curry with beef, and free refills on rice, what?! The curry was enough for 2 meals, and enjoyed the reheated leftovers just as much as the first time. Salad was really fresh and good too. Strawberry lemonade was too sweet, I had to dump lots of water in it to make it bearable. Fried banana with coconut ice cream was delicious too! My biggest con with this place is that they serve their dishes randomly. One friend got her chicken satay almost 20 minutes from when the last person in our party got her dish. I noticed they did this with other parties as well, where one or two dishes came out at a time. Not fun for the person to eat cold food to wait for the last person to get her dish. I ordered the crab fried rice and my friends ordered some pad thai and tofu Pad Kee Mao. Then I thought, why is this place classified as a vegetarian restaurant on Yelp? Last time I checked neither crab, pork, chicken, nor shrimp was vegetarian. Weird. Our order came and out came our tiny portions. The last time I checked we were in America. Americans like big portions so if you like it super sized, dont come here. Dont come here either if you like it flavorful. It was bleh. Wasn't horrible, but nothing to write home about. There are no condiments on the tables either for you to add spicy stuff, salty stuff, or peppery stuff. My crab fried rice had real crab in it, but wasn't loaded as some claimed. The flavor didn't jump out at me like I expect Thai food to taste. When we left, they handed us an envelope and the lady said "come back in 2012 with this, but DON'T open this". There are so many mixed reviews but honestly I don't think I've ever had a bad experience. Pre-covid, the staff was friendly and welcoming. The food is very filling, portions were big. My go to we're the vegetarian sushi and the stir-frys. Occasionally the spicy noodles with tofu. Their tofu is so good. I went a few weeks ago and we ordered at the restaurant. I came here with my family because Sweet Tomato was over packed. Unfortunately, it was a bad decision. I read the yelp reviews, but wanted to give it a chance anyway since it was just a few feet away. The restaurant was short staffed, so the wait to be seated was long even though there were empty tables available. The waiter/waitresses made mistakes left and right, such as giving me a salmon skin hand wrap instead of the salmon skin maki that I ordered. They wrote it down too, but read it wrong? It was just a mess that day. The food was okay. The pineapple fried rice and pad thai were soggy and wetter than usual. The portions were small too. The nigiri had a large portion of rice though when it should have been smaller. I like the salmon skin maki best because it tasted like it was suppose to (crunchy!). I've been eating their food for a total of 3 times. First 2 visits were dine-in and this time was online order through Grubhub. It was Saturday night, I ordered Pad Kee Mao w/ pork requesting no tomatoes and beansprouts, coconut shrimp, shrimp tempura sushi, and Mango Jasmin Iced Tea. When I arrived to pick up the order, I realized I got 2 items, so I drove around back and told them that I was missing the iced tea and the shrimp tempura sushi. So I got all my items and then arrived home just to realized they gave me regular shrimp tempura instead and there were beansprouts in the Pad Kee Mao but no tomatoes at least. The foods were meh compared to dining in over there. I don't know why they messed up my online order, especially the fact that the waitress forgot to pour the iced tea for preparation before I arrived. Would I order online again? Based on this experience, definitely not since their cooks and waitress just can't read orders properly that would have me pick up with missing items. First of all, online orders are another convenience for customers to use instead to phone calls or stopping by to order. If the cooks and waitresses can't follow every instruction, then why have it in the first place?! Would I ever come back to dine-in? Very questionable, however, their Pad Kee Mao wasn't what I expected. Didn't satisfy my stomach along with the shrimp appetizers. Probably not for a while. I heard from a friend that this was a great thai place, but as soon as I stepped foot inside and saw that there was also a sushi bar, I sensed something was off. First off, the vibe and ambience was off as it was awkwardly quiet and no music playing in the back. Secondly, the food was laughably bland. The chicken pad thai at mild spice tasted like air, and the veggie pad see ew was just okay. One of the servers was nice, but the other took a long time to take our check, despite after seeing me wave at her several times. Blue Mango is a cute little Thai/Sushi restaurant. It's so tempting because it's located outside of a Trader Joe's and I often want to skip grocery shopping and eat sushi instead. I have been here several times and have never had a bad experience. The staff is friendly, not 5 star service but not terrible. The ambiance is a small restaurant but have never gone where it is overly crowded or uncomfortable. The food is decent as well. I'm a huge fan of their sushi and my boyfriend goes for the Thai dishes of the restaurant. My favorite roll is the Lion King Roll, it's so savory and the baked salmon melts in your mouth. The spicy crunch roll is interesting. It has buffalo sauce on it but the taste was quite delicious (I like the Americanized sushi, can you tell?!). If you're looking for some decent sushi at a fair price (most sushi is highly priced, especially specialty rolls) definitely give this place a try! Mushroom Mountain - (4 stars)There was hardly any mushrooms for a dish named Mushroom Mountain. The bamboo and chicken combination worked well together but the portion size was tiny. This dish was too plain to even eat with rice. Seafood platter - (4 stars) This dish costs $17 and it was tasty. There wasn't enough seafood to make the price worth it. But the fried catfish and the sauce was delicious nevertheless. Mango samosas - (2.5 stars) The menu description looked amazing for this. But it did not live up to our expectations. The samosas were so small and the mangoes were sour. There was no sticky rice inside either.. The pineapple icecream was just ok. Mango, passionfruit, raspberry bons - (5 stars) These were my favorite part of the meal. The sorbet was soft and perfectly sweet. The sorbet comes out covered in white chocolate with chocolate drizzle. Highly recommend! In the end, the dishes here are overpriced for the portion size you actually get. Service is good.
