I'm embarrassed to say I got the same meal yet again. But the picture gets better every year so there's that lol. I had the blackened shrimp and fried green tomato app as an entree and the basket of fries. Their fries are some of the best but this shrimp and tomato dish is just that fire. Blue Moon is always our first dinner stop when we get to OBX every time. This was our first time to the new, ungraded location & the features made the wait more fun. For example, there's a big outdoor yard with games, hammocks & a bar to grab a drink at. They also have a spacious front porch to wait on. There are also now two levels on the inside & a covered side porch to dine on. As always, the food was stellar, including the daily specials & our cocktails were delicious. We heard glowing reviews from others, and decided to give this place a try coming from Jockey Ridge. Upon entering the ambience in the decor is really neat. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. We're not really big seafood eaters which is the majority of the menu. Despite that, the buffalo shrimp was the best thing we had. We were disappointed in the cheesesteak and chicken burger, expecting more from the flavor. Unfortunately, both tasted like standard bar food, and bland. Far too many sauces on the chicken sandwich. Every year we visit Nags Head, we have to come here. Their new location is amazing. Great vibe. We sat outside and enjoyed the amazing weather in the shade. I had the not a burger. The tomato was flaming hot. Can't complain it isn't fresh! My husband had the Caesar and the shrimp napoleon. Both good. My only complaint is not a ton of NC beers to choose from. Will be back. Overall, a good first time experience. The main reason it's only 4 stars was because of the wait for our food. Other than that, our server was very friendly and the food and drink were good - I got beef empanada, mahi fish & chips, and a moscow mule. The outside was also a good area. We had a wonderful lunch and experience at the Blue Moon Beach Grill. We started with the Calamari which was fried to perfection. The batter wasn't overwhelming and highlighted the taste of the calamari. My husband ordered the Seaside Bucatini which satisfied his seafood craving. It was very light and delicious. My daughter ordered the Crab Cake Sandwich with a side of cheese whiz (for the fries). She loved the remoulade which added the perfect amount of spice. I ordered the Shrimp & Grits with a Caesar Side Salad. The salad was light and tasty, while the Ship and Grits were rich and flavorful. We ended with the best tasting Key Lime pie. Six old lady girlfriends on an OBX trip had a delicious meal at blue moon beach grill! we started on the patio with a cocktail. it was lovely! our reservation was for 630 and right at 630, our table was ready. i had the seared fish with risotto and subbed the catch of the day (salmon) for mahi. it was cooked exactly the way i requested and was quite yummy. other girlfriends got fish and chips (a huge portion,) mahi blt, shrimp and grits, the blackened shrimp salad, and for the non seafood eater, a blackened chicken sandwich. everyone was happy! our server, corey, was helpful, attentive, and fun. if you're going, make sure to make a reservation or you'll be waiting a while. read more

This place is very popular! We had to wait, but not too long. I took it as a good sign and it also gave me time to check out the really cool merchandise they had. Shirts , hats, bottle covers, glasses, etc. the decor is beachy with beautiful ocean art. Sea creatures are part of the decor too. So pretty and great for pics ! Service was good, staff is nice. I had the shrimp tacos. As you can see, I didn't take a pic because I gobbled them up! Hahaha! The shrimp tacos are delicious! They are huge, big portions! I loved the sauce , cheese , and large shrimps. My dad got the Philly cheesesteak which also looked great! My mom got the Seafood Ceviche with chips. Couldn't get a pic of that either, she ate it so fast. Parking was ample, people are in and out. Location is between two really nice areas so it makes for a perfect spot to stop at coming or going. Excellent Bouillabaisse! Wish it came with saffron rice on the side to help sop up all the delicious vegetable saffron broth. Highly recommend this dish and the Appetizer of Scallops with seaweed is excellent too but if you don't like the spices hot sauce on top of the yum yum sauce let them know as it is quite spicy. Tacos were excellent too, just wish they served them on a hot plate instead of a cold one as it makes them cool down too fast. Pleasantly surprised by this place! We lived in the area for two years but never had the chance to try this place when they were at their old location (now Dune Street). I was nervous when we sat down because it was giving tourist trap vibes a bit. This couldn't be farther from the truth though. We ordered the fresh catch of the day, sandbar platter and the she crab soup. Everything was delicious. The fish was cooked perfectly and so flavorful and fresh - and the she crab soup was loaded with FRESH crab. This restaurant was recommended by a local and it wasn't on my radar when I was searching thruYelp. Lucky for me that with my wife's desire to try out the local recommendations we hit a jackpot with this choice . The restaurant did nothing for us on the outside, Just a strip mall unit and once you walk on you'll notice that it is actually 3 units combined. So the inside is pretty spread out and they also have a outdoor patio seating as well. Service was great The food was top notch. Bad tone set at the start with the women that work the reception. Asked for a different table as we were sat next to the kitchen, and they responded with a pretty crappy attitude and basically said screw you, sit at the table we gave you. Service was okay but honestly not server's fault as kitchen does not seem to be able to get food out to in a time frame conducive to size of restaurant. Having said that, the food was phenomenal. Saved the entire night. Three salads, ones with shrimp were exceptional, and cheesesteak and fish fry were really good. BTW, we had a reservation which is recommended as other appeared to have a very long wait. Good place, just be prepared to be patient with either the people or the waiting. read more
