When arriving at the restaurant, the only two employees sat some friends and I inside at the booths. We immediately noticed a smell around us, maybe mold? The inside was unkept and looked dusty like it had been sitting empty for months. The bathroom had no toilet paper, nowhere to hold toilet paper, and was filthy. You couldn't get a cup of water, but were forced to purchase a bottle. The food came out in a timely manner but didn't taste like anything special. I took notice to many pizzas sitting on the counter under no lights or protection from germs. The pizzas looked like they had been made that morning and ready to be put in the microwave whenever they were ordered. The food is delicious and reasonably priced. The restaurant is also conveniently located across from the beach. The man who owns the restaurant is extremely generous and kind. My daughter was crying for one reason or another and he came out and offered to give her a free ice cream to make her feel better. Ask me how this pizza was three years ago, and I would have said DELICIOUS... but since that time... Blue Moon has changed for the worse. The last cheese pie i had was sloppy with little cheese and a sauce that would have been more suited as an ice cream topping (way too sweet). If you're looking for a good pizza in Cape May, your best bet would be to go to Tony's... if not there then Stumpo's in the Wahington Mall makes a good pie, but it's expensive and quite small. They had about 10 different pies to choose slices from and my daughter wanted buffalo chicken. I was craving a Gyro so I took the chance. Guys behind the counter were friendly and brought out the food when it was ready. My daughter loved the pizza. The Gyro was arguably one of the best I've had. Last night was my very first visit to Cape May. What a beautiful town with so many beautiful shops and restaurants. However, I suggest that you keep moving right past the Blue Moon Pizza restaurant. I went in to get some ice cream for a friend and I and after my first bite of the cone I noticed the cone was extremely stale. I mentioned it twice to the man waiting in me and he agreed and laughed. Never offered to open a new package and serve me a fresh cone. As I laid, the owner took my money and I mentioned it to him and he had no reaction but to charge me. My other friend who wasn't getting ice cream would have had a slice of pizza but declined because it looked so old and unappetizing. I ordered through Grubhub, delivery estimate was 40-50 minutes, and when it had been over an hour I gave them a call to check in and see what was up. Apparently they had lost our order in the system and were extremely apologetic. They bumped the order to the top of the list and had it cooked and out for delivery within 15 minutes - which I know, because when I called back to see if they could add a 2 liter of soda on to the order, it was already out for delivery. But then they called the delivery driver and had her pick up the soda at Acme for us to make sure we got it (they called me and assured me the driver would be reimbursed). I really appreciate a place that goes out of their way to ensure great customer service, and I'll definitely consider ordering from them next time I'm down the shore.
