I also came across tips about avoiding diamonds with a dark "bow tie" effect. I started to worry that I hadn't considered all of this when choosing my ring. But to my relief--and amazement--it turns out that Gul had already done all that work for me. Without me even realizing, she had hand-selected a diamond that checked every box. In fact, when I went back to the Blue Nile website to compare diamonds with similar specs (color, cut, carat, and clarity), none matched mine as perfectly when factoring in all those subtle but important details. It became clear to me that Gul is truly an expert in her field. Her ability to find the perfect diamond--even when I didn't know what to ask for--speaks volumes about her skill and dedication. I had a very disappointing experience at Blue Nile. I made an appointment specifically because I wasn't sure what style of ring I wanted and hoped to try different options on in person. The whole point of visiting a showroom was to get guidance and see how different rings looked on my hand before making such an important purchase. Unfortunately, the associate - Shah- who helped me seemed impatient from the beginning. Instead of helping me explore different styles, he repeatedly directed me to the website and gave the impression that I should already know exactly what I wanted before he could assist me. At one point, he even insisted that I needed to know what I wanted first, which completely defeated the purpose of my appointment. As a customer shopping for an engagement ring, I expected someone who would be willing to answer questions, offer suggestions, and help me narrow down my choices. Instead, I felt rushed, dismissed, and unwelcome. I left feeling very disappointed with the customer service. A showroom appointment should be about helping customers discover what they like--not expecting them to have already made up their minds before they walk through the door. STAY AWAY - Completely ruined our wedding ring purchase and lied repeatedly. My fiancée and I had an absolutely horrific experience at the Valley Fair location. We went in specifically needing wedding bands by an exact date. We made it explicitly clear to the sales rep that if they couldn't guarantee that date, we wouldn't buy them. The employee promised overnight shipping, took what we were told was full payment, and assured us everything was handled. It was downhill from there. We never received a confirmation because the employee mangled our email address. When we called to track it down, we were told the order didn't exist, the discount we were given was gone, and we had to pay full price. When we pushed back, a manager jumped in claiming she "found" the order, blamed everything on a fired employee, and forced us to pay an unexpected balance just to get our rings shipped. Desperate to get our wedding bands on time, we paid it. Another day passed--still no shipping confirmation. We called back only to find out the overnight shipping promise was a lie and the rings wouldn't even ship for days, meaning they will arrive after we have already left for our wedding. When my fiancée called to cancel the order out of pure frustration, the store clerk was rude to her over the phone, dismissively saying "Yeah, yeah, it'll be canceled." We still have no cancellation confirmation, no refund, and no rings for our wedding. This place operates like a total scam with zero accountability, terrible internal communication, and incredibly rude management. I was gifted a bracelet from them with a broken clasp and when I came into the store, 3 separate times, I was very rudely dismissed by the store manager who told me he knew better because "he has years of experience". He didn't really introduce his name, but he was Middle Eastern older gentlemen, that wear glasses. He showed us some rings, but he was being really rude and dismissive.. There wasn't a lot of product knowledge that he was giving us.. when we ask about a certain ring he would say all of the rings will be the same. I can tell he did not want to help us. I had a deeply disturbing experience at Blue Nile's Valley Fair showroom that made me question the company's ethics and internal controls. I had a diamond on hold online and was in the middle of a diamond upgrade process handled by a Blue Nile online sales rep. Everything was properly documented, and I was waiting for internal approval before sending in my existing diamond to complete the upgrade. I stopped by the showroom just to check my ring size and visualize the size of the diamond I was considering. I explicitly told the showroom rep, Gulalay Omarzay, that I was already working with the online team and did not need her assistance. She still took my contact info, viewed my profile, and acted as if it were routine. Days later, I received a call from her claiming my diamond was about to be sold to someone else, and that unless I rushed my old diamond into the store immediately, I would lose the hold. This was nothing short of manipulative and dishonest. Thankfully, I contacted my online rep, who confirmed that everything she said was completely false -- my diamond was still on hold, not visible to other customers, and there was no need to rush to the store. It's clear this rep was trying to take over my diamond upgrade transaction for herself, using scare tactics and false information to push me into completing the order through her. This kind of unethical behavior is shocking -- especially from a company that positions itself as trustworthy and reputable. I now have serious concerns about how Blue Nile showroom staff are trained, managed, and incentivized. If you value transparency and integrity, avoid their showrooms at all costs and work only with their online team -- they were the only ones I could trust throughout this experience. read more

My fiance and I visited to the showroom in Valley Fair yesterday ~4PM as we were looking to see their wedding bands in person. There was a sign that said walk-ins welcome though appointments preferred. We saw that there were 3 associates busy helping others so we stood there waiting. A couple associates walked past us but said nothing. I tried to flag one woman down to ask if we needed an appointment or how long the wait might be but she avoided eye contact as she walked past into the back room and again as she came out of the back room. As someone said in an earlier review, we felt very unwelcome. Another customer came in and left while we were waiting there. After standing there for 10-15 minutes in the small showroom being ignored, finally one of the men there explained to us that they were busy and to come back in 30 minutes. I asked him again if we needed an appointment and he said no, walk-ins are fine. That was very kind but I wish that they had told us within ~5 minutes of arriving. The associates stepped away to grab things and let the customers look at things frequently so I don't understand why they couldn't have provided better customer service instead of having us stand around waiting to flag them down and avoiding eye contact. Since the showroom is small, they had to step past us to get across sometimes. We went to Kay's Jewelers across the hall and they helped us immediately with kind service and so we did not return to Blue Nile within the 30 minutes as requested to this poor service. read more

Unfortunately, our experience this time was very poor. My fiancée and I came in today to purchase our wedding bands for our ceremony, but the older gentleman in the suit who came to help us was extremely rude. We didn't even get his name. I totally understand that it was Valentine's Day, but the store didn't look too busy. If it was fully booked, we wouldn't have minded being told to come back another time. It felt like he judged based on our appearance we were deemed as unable to afford the rings here, and we were being an inconvenience. He quickly rushed us to a limited selection without asking us what kind of rings we were looking for. He immediately dismissed my fiancée's request to see rings that she thought would match her engagement ring. It really felt like he wanted us to leave. This review is for their showroom at Valley Fair mall. I've shopped their online store before and had excellent experiences (5/5), but I can't say the same about their showroom. I found some earrings and a necklace online that I was interested in, and since they now have a showroom at VF, I thought I'd go check them out in person before purchasing. Well, I didn't realize the showroom was by appointment only. Upon reaching the store entrance, I see a sign indicating by appointment only. The store looked empty, but the sign was menacing and I was afraid to step inside. A sales person came out to tell me they were completely booked for the day. She said she could put me on the waitlist in case someone cancels. I told her I didn't really need consultation, but only wanted to see a couple of pieces that I had seen online. She told me they did not have those items in the store in a very dismissive way. She didn't offer to check if they were available at other stores. I felt like she just wanted to get rid of me and get back to her empty store. I've never felt so unwelcomed at a store before. I was decently dressed and was polite. I purchased my wedding band from Blue Nile years ago and I finally decided to get it cleaned and serviced. I use my hands a lot so my ring does get banged up a bit and after a few years, it needed to be cleaned and polished. I went to Blue Nile without an appointment and a jeweler assisted me immediately. She explained the whole process thoroughly. Cleaning and servicing is entirely free but will take a few weeks to receive since they'll need to ship it elsewhere to be serviced. I received an email to pick up my ring after 2-3 weeks. My gold ring looked brand new with its vibrant shine. Great staff and wonderful service. read more

I've visited this location twice now and both times have been subpar experiences. The first time was a couple months ago and I came in with an appointment to look at engagement rings. Prior to the appointment, we exchanged emails outlining what type of ring I am looking for (stone shape, size, setting, etc). I went into the appointment excited to have a tailored experience and I received the opposite of that. The associate that was helping me was unprepared because she said "You need to tell me what you want, because I don't know what you're looking for". I was confused because I had sent over an email with exactly what I'm looking for prior to the appointment... I was able to try on some different rings but it was definitely not a personalized experience nor informative. I went in again a second time to accompany my friends with their engagement ring search. We walked in without an appointment, and as soon as we walked in, an associate told us to let him know if we wanted to try anything on/had any questions. We were browsing for a little bit and he went to help another customer, so we waited for him to finish before asking him for more help. Another associate came over and asked if we had an appointment, and said we were not able to be helped because it's busy in the store right now. Which I understand, but another associate had just told us to let him know if we wanted to look at anything. I'm grateful that I ran into Blue Nile as I was looking for an engagement ring for my fiancée. I had gone to at least 7-8 different stores looking for the perfect ring and diamond. Blue Nile was one of the few that felt like they weren't pressuring me to buy anything. My representative (Brent) was knowledgeable and explained everything I needed to know about ring shopping to me. The 10 minute crash course he gave me was better than anything I could've found online or had received from any of the other jewelers I went to. He wanted me to be knowledgeable so that I could make the most informed decision, which is empowered me as a customer rather than forcing me to rely on the representatives to make the right decision. I really valued that... and my wallet did too!. When it came to their diamond selection, it they beat out ALL the other jewelers. At the other places, if they didn't have the diamond on hand, I would have to buy it and have it shipped to the store before I could view it. From there, if I didn't like it, I would have to return it and wait for the refund back to my card. Usually I was only given a selection of 1-2 at a time from other jewelers, which often had noticeable inclusions and blemishes. If I had wanted to roll the dice and find a better diamond, I would have to put my money down and wait for them to ship into the store. At Blue Nile they have a SUPER detailed diamond breakdown. They can let you view it digitally with a breakdown on inclusions, clarity, cut, color, weight, and so much more. It will also give you a fully 3D view of the diamond before you purchase it. I was able to pick the best possible one out of dozens of different diamonds. The process was a lot easier and streamlined than what I had experienced at other stores. In terms of customer care, Brent helped me comb through their entire inventory to decide on the perfect diamond and band combination. He spent hours with me over the course of weeks. Each time I walked in, he recognized me and remembered exactly what I was trying to do and was looking for. He never rushed me, pressured me, and gave me genuine advice on how to A) save money B) get the best looking ring for my fiancée. At the end of the day, I wanted my proposal to be perfect. I illustrated a picture book to do it. I spent hours and hours to make sure the all things that I was in control of would all go perfectly. Diamonds and rings were something I didn't feel very in control of, since I had zero experience with jewelry shopping, but I'm glad Blue Nile took care of me and had me covered there.
