Been here a few times for breakfast and decided to try them for dinner. Food and service were always top notch. This past Friday the wife and I stopped in for a fish dinner. We were quickly seated (they were busy) and the wait staff made it to our table in under a minute. We both ordered the fried cod for dinner. The salad and sides were very good. The same cannot be said for the fish. What appeared to be a very nice serving of fish turned out to be mostly breading. The breading was very crispy covering what looked like about a 2 ounce piece of fish. Not worth the price for sure. read more

I never order Fried Chicken whenever I go out but our server Mike recommended the fried chicken oh my gosh it was delicious. trust me you need to try the fried chicken won't be disappointed the potatoes soup was great too My husband had the stuffed flounder it was delicious too. This place was outstanding. We pulled up and weren't to sure because it was in front of a hotel but we said we are here and the reviews on Facebook were good so let's try it. So glad we did. The portions are huge and the food was delicious. A bit hard to get into if you are coming from Lake Wales but it was worth the effort. I had the steak tips and they were very tender. Wow Mike's Grill was a pleasant surprise! On this particular Tuesday they had buy 1 fajita get 1 free deals. In addition kids eat free on Tuesdays. I am assuming this is a weekly deal? However I would suggest calling ahead to confirm it wasn't just a month long special. Our waitress was very attentive and was excellent on drink refills. The restaurant appeared very clean and well maintained. The staff even did a happy birthday song clap for someone in our party. They were great about keeping it a secret and surprising her. While waiting for our food we were given a large basket of rolls. They were delicious! I could've ate a whole basket by myself. I love the cinnamon butter that comes with the rolls. Our waitress was very accommodating to those who wanted regular butter. Also when I asked for honey mustard for my burger she brought it right out! My burger overall tasted good. I wish it had slightly more flavor or maybe crunchier bacon. However the mash potatoes were for sure the winner of my meal. I did try a little bit of the chicken fajita and it was pretty good! I'm sure it taste better when it's in the tortilla and combined with everything. However the small piece I tried tasted fresh. The French fries were also tasty and crisp. So now you are probably wondering, why not 5 stars then? CONS Well sadly they were out of salmon when I initially tried to order it. They explained they ran out a while before we got there. In addition there was a staff member who was extremely rude when we initially arrived. Our group had our hands completely full carrying gifts/cake and someone in our party was even trying to push a wheel chair. This employee saw us waiting by the door but he didn't even bother holding it open long enough for us. He was somewhat just roaming around when we eventually did get inside. There was absolutely no reason why he couldn't of held the door open for 1 minute longer. However despite his lack of effort our waitress was excellent. The staff overall seemed friendly and accommodating. So yes I say give Mike's a chance! The portion sizes are fantastic. Manny who works in the kitchen area was cursing and disrespecting the employees in front of everyone using vulgar and abusive language and this could be heard through the whole restaurant. I have never in my life heard such disrespect towards employees. They have lost our business and hope others as well. I will be sure that everyone knows about this. And the front manager and servers found it funny on how this man was disrespecting the employees in front of customers and everything. My husband and I were in disgust and ended up not even touching our food & we walked out. Other customers were in disgust as well. We had been going to Mike's for several years since we moved to Florida. We were trying to get seated approximately three weeks ago. We were told since we wanted a table for three, there would be a 5-10 minute wait. While we were sitting there waiting, 4 other groups of people, a 2 person, 5 person, three person were seated. THe table in the back of where we were sitting waiting was open and could have been given to us. We got up and walked out. That was so disrespectful on the part of the hostess, who happens to be one of the owners. I ave never been overlooked before. I dont know what her issue was that day. The staff is always running never does my drink get less than half!! The food is simple but made perfect!! They need better chairs they are dated!! The tables too. Should of gone to Waffle House!! It's 8 o'clock Sunday morning and looking forward to a quiet breakfast and coffee. Instead music is blaring loud and Owner/or Manager is yelling unbelievably loud (in Spanish) , enough you could hear him across the street. Food okay, except pancakes are worst ever. Might as well eat cardboard. Service is good but not overly friendly. Not a good experience and won't be back. This is a great place to eat. The menu is very diversified. The salad comes in a big bowl before the meal along with homemade rolls and cinnamon butter. The meals are huge and always good. Having just arrived in Bartow, we looked on Yelp for a place to go for lunch. We are used to the Fort Myers Beach area that (once) had an enormous amount of choices. Not here in this small and quaint community. So we went here for lunch. My first thought was that I was living in the movie "Cacoon", due to the amount of seniors. They seem to have a limited lunch menu with prices being much higher than I would expect for lunch. We ordered a Ruben sandwich at $11.99. It did come with soup, and fries, but we added a salad and onion rings and only had water. We shared and that was a wise choice as we only wanted lunch. All in all, the food was not bad and service was good. I think the reason for the lunch prices is that I am learning that seniors have a different lifestyle. Up early, doing activities before it gets too hot, eat a large lunch and simple dinner, then retire quite early. I think any restaurant that could serve even average food would do well in this area, simply due to the lack of choices. Although the food wasn't bad, I would not return here as I think it is way too pricey for what it is. I don't mind spending $$$$$$, but it needs to be worth it. read more

Seating was spread out enough so you didn't feel cramped.the only thing I would change is the music volume.
