I absolutely loved the pizza bagel. I also tried their chocolate croissant and was obsessed. It had the perfect amount of chocolate in every bite, and the chocolate itself was rich and semi-sweet, which I really liked. The staff was super helpful too. I wanted to order pizza bagels to go, and they helped me set up an order for next-day pickup with no problem. Prices are really reasonable as well. The croissant was around $3 and the pizza bagel about $4. Definitely a spot I'd recommend if you're in Davis.

This spot is located in a strip mall right off the freeway on Mace, it's the anchor store in that strip mall. This place reminds me of a Nob Hill, or Raley's, Safeway type of grocery store. You can tell a store has all kinds of good stuff when the deli is elite. This deli had a line and about 10-20 minute wait I'd predict when I was there, people ordering all kinds of different stuff from sandwiches to hot items they'll warm up for you, it was packed. Their produce aisle looks very appealing as strange as that may sound, I joked with my wife and daughter that they had a professional fruit stacker with how nice the fruit was stacked. Like most places now though, especially in California, cost of things is on the higher side.

The food is fantastic and they are very fast and efficient. The bakery! Need a cake? Need anything? They can help you. The store is larger than the Mace Boulevard store but smaller than the Covell store. Honestly, it's the perfect size. I don't get lost and I can find everything I need. It's also oriented slightly differently-- it's not square-- which for some reason seems to help me find things This is my go to place for groceries!

Pay attention to package dates so you don't get items that have been sitting around. If you don't you are absolutely wasting your money here. I just opened some pretzels I bought 2 weeks ago and it's expiring today?! Always check expirations dates on their items and skip the bakery stuff. It really sucks when you get home and realize you waste money.

There's another grocery store that's five minutes from my house, but I drive the 20 minutes to shop here because the overall experience is so much better. Today's trip really stood out to me because of a couple things... while I was at the deli waiting for the clerk to work on my order, at least three other employees came up to me and asked if I was being helped. I've been to other stores where I've stood at a counter for literally 5 minutes, watching employees going out of their way to not acknowledge me. That never happens here. Then I was really taken aback by how the peppers and mushrooms were displayed. The fact that whoever stocked these mushrooms took the time to turn every mushroom cap side up and arranged all the portobellos the way they are speaks to a dedication to quality work. This particular Nugget has a fairly large upstairs patio area with tables, chairs, restrooms, water bottle refilling station, microwave, etc. Lots of grocery stores in this area have a downstairs lounge area, but being upstairs (but still accessible via a ramp and elevators) gives it an extra edge. Plus you can't beat that view of the Mercedes dealership. The salad selection is some of the best I've seen anywhere, although they are very pricey at about $10/8oz (which is why I haven't actually tried one). I came here in search of some tampons that I couldn't find at Target, and was thrilled that this store carried small boxes of single sizes, versus the huge multipacks they had at Target. Thank you Nugget for doing a better job at procuring feminine health items than Target. As a bonus this store (like many others) is within walking distance of the wetland preserve.
