I went to Nugget for their pizza bagels and a chocolate croissant, and everything was so good. Their bagels are honestly some of the best in Davis. They have a really nice fluffy, airy texture and a great flavor that isn't overpowering. They're not too heavy or overly carby, just the perfect size, especially with cream cheese. I absolutely loved the pizza bagel. I also tried their chocolate croissant and was obsessed. It had the perfect amount of chocolate in every bite, and the chocolate itself was rich and semi-sweet, which I really liked. The staff was super helpful too. I wanted to order pizza bagels to go, and they helped me set up an order for next-day pickup with no problem. Prices are really reasonable as well. The croissant was around $3 and the pizza bagel about $4. Definitely a spot I'd recommend if you're in Davis. read more

This spot is located in a strip mall right off the freeway on Mace, it's the anchor store in that strip mall. This place reminds me of a Nob Hill, or Raley's, Safeway type of grocery store. You can tell a store has all kinds of good stuff when the deli is elite. This deli had a line and about 10-20 minute wait I'd predict when I was there, people ordering all kinds of different stuff from sandwiches to hot items they'll warm up for you, it was packed. Their produce aisle looks very appealing as strange as that may sound, I joked with my wife and daughter that they had a professional fruit stacker with how nice the fruit was stacked. The Nugget in Davis located right off Mace Ranch is superb! I love that the parking is easy, the store is well stocked and extremely clean and it is so bright inside. I brought my husband here because he was helping me at work and I work nearby. We wanted a lunch so we got fresh sushi. We also explored their drinks near the cold box in the front. All of our items we bought were delicious. I appreciated how fresh the sushi was. The ease of checkout was nice too. The people who work here have great customer service. I highly recommend that you check out this Nugget location if you are in the Davis area. read more

I was specifically looking for a champagne cheese that my friends love to get here, and while I didn't find it I did end up getting a sandwich and some small items. The parking lot here was pretty crowded, but inside the grocery store was well stocked and organized. The staff was friendly and helpful and they had a lot of variety. Ok So generally I like nugget market though it's pretty pricey. However I bought this sandwich today and it had barely any meat on it. For $13.99, I expect a decent amount of meat on my sandwich, it's not wagyu beef after all, it's deli meat. But this sandwich had barely any. Disappointing. Also I wish they had a printed sandwich board because I have trouble seeing it on the wall since my eyes aren't great. Special shout out to Store Director Mr. Lambert. This grocery store is clean, well stocked, and every employee I encountered was polite and professional. For covid reasons, the wagons and baskets are sanitized outside. There's clear signage at the door about wearing masks. Additionally they took great care in marking the floor with directional signs and six foot markers. Especially wanted to thank the observant and diligent employees for communicating quickly to customers who fail to wear a required mask in the store! The fruits and vegetables are fresh and bountiful. Love the variety available! They are kind enough to provide paper towels to dry off the produce before bagging/purchasing. Really nice touch that the receptacles are nearby for folks to throw away their used paper towels. The meat/poultry/seafood area is clean. Great selection of fresh items. Nothing smelly here :) I was pleased to find local Italian sausage with fennel! Great job Mr. Lambert and your entire team. Cashier lines are quick and pleasant. This Nugget in south Davis is smaller than the one on Covell. Even so, it stocks a great selection of almost any item from my international cookbook recipes. Nugget is my go-to store for foreign brands and fresh quality ingredients. Sure, you may pay a bit more than at Safeway, but the quality is high. We often stop by after lunch at one of the great restaurants in this shopping center. read more

I originally thought Nugget would be super expensive and overpriced! I was wrong, from the quality produce to the pre prepared meals I've loved everything I bought! I buy all my birthday cakes here, and their kind staff will even write a name or message for you! Most recently I also bought a bouquet of flowers for my girlfriend and they added a burlap cover and ribbon for only $4! She loved them! I also strongly recommend their breakfast bowls! My favorite Nugget so far! Lots of cool local products- such as produce and dairy. Also got some local beer to try. I even saw special goodies that I ordinarily get at the farmer's market- like fresh almond milk! They are so friendly inside too. Wonderful staff and managers at Nugget Market on Covell Blvd. went above and beyond!!! Our plans to visit our mother for her birthday this year were cancelled due to ice on the roads and, of course, the COVID-19 pandemic. We had planned to make our mom a chocolate birthday cake, and were heartbroken about not being able to be there. Store Manager Paul and Nugget staff were incredibly helpful in taking down an order for a chocolate birthday cake and a custom floral design. I was able to arrange the order and payment in advance (even though the order was relatively small!) so that my dad could pick up the order the day before our mom's birthday. Staff were very professional, welcoming, and friendly and helped me talk through the order. Thank you so much to the wonderfully skilled and highly professional bakery and floral staff, and thank you so much to Paul for going above and beyond. If you are trying to save money when shopping nugget is not the store for you. It is the most expensive store in Davis but the quality of the products and services are great. The food that they prepare is amazing and always fresh. The store is clean and the people are amazing and are willing to go above and beyond to help you when help is needed. I've become obsessed with Nugget Markets. My bf & I have been to 2 in the Sac area while visiting family. Today on our way back to the Bay we stopped at this one for a "snack" but the hot bar, deli/bakery caught our eye. The fresh baked bread on display made us want sandwiches so we looked at the menu. The El Balandero (?) sounded too good to not get (roast beef, provolone, basil mayo, chimichurri, grilled onion, spring mix on ciabatta). We each got one & it was THE BEST SANDWICH EVER. All staff were extremely kind & the girl that made our sandwiches even comped $1 off each as we had to wait a little extra for the chimichurri to be made, it was well worth the wait (which honestly wasn't even an issue to us). We're looking forward to our next visit to our new fav market! read more

Very nice and clean store! It's my go-to place to get my groceries. And though Safeway and Save-mart are definitely cheaper, you do get quality and a better experience here. Their cakes/birthday cakes are definitely better, and they have some good take-out menus in the back (pizza, sushi, etc). The parking can get busy as it's adjacent to a Starbucks, but it's usually good. And it's right off the freeway. Lastly, the customer server is superb. That's been consistent at least for the past 10+ years since I came to Davis. read more

Since starting a job in Davis I have learned to love the Nugget markets for quick and easy lunches. They always have something in the deli section that catches my eye and for very affordable prices. Recently on a trip in I decided to try the sushi and was not disappointed! I got a tuna avocado roll and goodness it was better than some sushi restaurants I've tried. Employees are always kind and helpful here as well. Only reason I'm deducting a star is the parking lot is a nightmare. I have to park so far every time I come here. Will be back soon :) read more

When you want quality food products, all you have to do is go to your local Nugget Market. We have two Nugget markets in Davis. And others located in the Sacramento region. Actually there's one in Vacaville and El Dorado Hills. And one in the Bay Area. These are family owned stores. Once you have shopped in a Nugget store, you will be very spoiled. It's one of those places for me where everyone knows your name. And I love that. Customer service is number one all the time. I am remiss for not reviewing them until today as I have been a loyal customer for ever it seems. One of the fun things they do in the summer is to put up a canopy and grill in front of the market and BBQ meats and vegetables for customer purchase. It is so cool. Last night as I walked in the Nugget, I could smell the ribs cooking and I knew what I was going to be having for dinner :-). I placed my order with James and Zack who were doing the barbecuing. A half order of pork ribs and a half of chicken along with barbecued artichokes and corn. Does that sound fabulous or what. And these guys are pros and so nice. So I went in to finish my shopping knowing by the time I was finished my dinner would be ready. A nice touch also that particular day was a representative from Scotto Cellars, Lodi California, pouring tastes of their Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay and a red. How could I resist? It was so hot that day I was ready for cool white wines no Reds today thank you. I was surprised... I loved the Chardonnay .... usually a SB Gurl. It was a mix, to me, of Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc... it really was rich and creamy just like the bottle said. So I popped that bottle in my shopping cart. Dinner is going to be very very good! And after all these years of shopping at the Nugget, it would not be appropriate without leaving a shout out for one of their store PICs..Tim! This guy is the best of the best! These stores are perfect! They have everything and it is all excellent quality. Whether it's pre-manufactured or made in house it is outstanding. The bakery alone makes the freshest baked breads, cakes, pies, you name. It they have it. Their meat department carries excellent choices of the finest meats coupled with in house marinated beef and chicken products. Outstanding selections will make it tough for to decide "what's for dinner"! In addition to the outstanding product selection Nugget Markets have an extremely friendly and helpful staff who are at your service. Go to a Nugget Market once and you won't go anywhere else! Personally, "upscale blah blah blah" crap doesn't really cut it. I don't mind if you pull my food from a sanitary garbage can- if it tastes delicious, that's all that counts. It's funny to see people claiming that they do "upscale" things. That being said, this appears to be an attempt at an upscale market. Not the top of the top, (cough cough...Draeger's Market, etc.) but beyond your average supermarket in terms of quality of goods and services. From "cute" things like wine in a can to really decent looking heirloom tomatoes, this place tries...and it shows. There are multiple food items prepared for consumption as well as a boatload of ingredients to concoct your own masterpiece! It's a little more expensive than your average grocery store. There may be a reason for that, however. read more

We just moved across the street from the "small nugget" in Davis and we couldn't be more excited. It is a bit smaller than the other Covell location, but it has ALL the amenities we need for a small local grocer. Our favorite thing is the sandwich bar and love to be able to go up to the counter, place our order, then go grab the other groceries that we need. Despite being a smaller store, they still have plenty of options and we never find ourselves without the product we came to look for. The employees at this location are amazing and so helpful. The lines are never especially long, and whenever they back up, the employees open another line. I don't know how they do it, but every single Nugget location has blown me away, and this one is no different. read more

Love going to this place just for my favorite diet pomegranate Hansen drink. Unfortunately lately I haven't went there because someone stocked ginger flavor in pomegranate aisle and no one has ordered to fill in pomegranate because ginger drink is there. I've notified manager to fix it so I can come and get my drink. It hasn't been fixed for awhile now. Ginger Hansen drink still sit under diet pomegranate drink so I have been going to another nugget further from my home just for that drink when I could just go to this one! Fix it now! read more

I've taken some time and haven't wanted to write this review, but at this point it is necessary. First of all, let me say that I love Nugget! I've been shopping at the Woodland store for 30+ years. I rant and rave about how great these stores are and I am excited whenever a new one opens. I have worked for 3 large grocery chains myself, and I can appreciate a good grocery store experience. Over the last six or so months, I've noticed that the customer service at Nugget Market(s) has steadily declined. Within the past three weeks I have shopped at the Covell store, Mace store, Woodland store, and Florin store. I will rate them based on the worst customer service experiences, with #1 being the worst. 1. Mace- Was ignored at the deli & bakery. The girls in the bakery were back there laughing hysterically and looking at photos on their phone. I'm all for fun and games, but not at the expense of your customers. They just had to remake a sandwich that they made wrong the first time. A very heavyset guy walked right past me at the bakery case and didn't even inquire if I needed anything and so I walked away without selecting anything. The last two times I have been here there has been one checker and a line. Today the courtesy clerk didn't say "hello," "goodbye," or offer to help me or the lady before me to the car. 2. Florin- Once again, teenage girls laughing and ignoring the customers. I changed lines. The front-end manager (or store manager) saw the girls laughing and watched me hop to the next line. I probably would have let this one occurrence slide, but the next two customers that walked up did the same and I felt bad for the checker and courtesy clerk waiting on us because they were forced to do all of the work, meanwhile the other do-nothing's stood there laughing. 3. Woodland- There is one male checker in the afternoon with a buzz cut that should not be there at all. He spends more time flirting with the girls than greeting the customers. I don't have many big stand-out negative experiences with this store other than overall it just isn't as friendly as the others were at one point. 4. Covell- I was there last Wednesday with my grandfather. He went to get something from the bakery case and a teenage employee walked up behind him and rudely cut in front (clearly on her break). Nobody should be that afraid of running over a minute on their break that they treat themselves at the expense of a customer. Come checkout time we walk up and were not greeted by the checker. She looked in my cart, looked at me, and didn't say a word. We preceded to back our basket out and went to the next line where the girl was more than friendly. It's really not fair to the other employee's. I know that these are especially trying times and it is hard to find good help. I know that Nugget used to pay their employee's "well," but now minimum wage has almost caught-up with Nugget's wages. I understand that manners and courtesy isn't what it used to be and that it is hard to teach, but for God's sake, make a video! Seriously, make a video showing your employee's how to greet a customer, bag groceries, and MOVE out of the way for your customers paying a hefty premium to frequent your store. At Mace today the same heavyset guy from the deli (or possibly a cook) almost mowed me over while ignoring me at the case. The only other negative that I want to throw in is that your salad bar has been more than sad and the premade salads have been especially flavorless in the past few months. Didn't you open a new Nugget Kitchen? You really need to take a look at this. The majority of your shoppers don't have a basket full of items, but are only coming to your deli. For now I will keep shopping at Nugget, but if I do not see any improvement within the next six months or so I will travel instead of paying high prices for bad service. I will also not be the least bit surprised if more of your customers start doing the same. read more

I grew up coming to this market. When we were out of cinnamon or wanted ice cream randomly myself or my family would take a two minute drive here for something we were out of at the last minute. Many birthdays were celebrated with cake made in the bakery. The prices were gouging people some years ago. Recently, I made a small errand here for a couple things and looked at the prices and was truly shocked. $8.99 for a small thing of all free & clear. Boxes of cereal $3 more than other places. 4 ounce bars of chocolate for $9. The reason they shocked me is that since growing up I moved to los angeles/west hollywood and of course do my grocery shopping there or in beverly hills & these prices are significantly higher. Even more than bristol farms. The quality of many things, especially produce, is very good. Thats something they've always had on their side- but a grocery store in south davis with prices that are about the same as one in manhattan is just completely awry. But I think I might have an idea why. They pride themselves on being a great employer, and its commendable for them not to be short staffed as a new normal and to pay their people probably pretty well. There's honor in that. But for the sake of your own pocket think twice before doing a large grocery run there if you can avoid it. read more

I love the people at Nugget Markets. They're so friendly! I was stopping in to grab something to eat before watching a softball game. I went by the deli counter and found a yummy looking panini. Turns out they heat them up and toast them for you on the spot! I got a chicken blue cheese panini. She did the toasting and added in some yummy greens to go with. The girl working at the counter was so cheerful! My b/f got a good looking sushi roll. I'm not big on grabbing Asian food at a grocery store, but this was probably the best sushi roll I have had from a supermarket, that's for sure. This place is super clean and staff is uber friendly!
