I get lost every time that I try to get to this place, and this time was no different. The GPS wants to put you about 4 miles away for some reason. I'm always happy when we do find it! This time we brought along some friends that had never been, and we all left pretty happy. It was later on a Monday, and the outside area was still packed. I know exactly what some of the reviewers here mean by rude staff, and I think they are just quiet brusque rather than rude. They are absolutely efficient, there's no doubt about that, but they sure don't go out of the way to greet you or give direction, you're kind of on your own to figure things out. I'm sure that it's a challenging place to work and management should know the busy periods and get some help out there. In any case, we ended up having a drink outside but getting too hungry to wait for a table on the patio, we went inside. The shrimp cocktail, as mentioned in other reviews, is fantastic. Really meaty shrimp, cooked perfectly, and tangy cocktail sauce. This is a must-order. My friend and I both had the king crab dinner, and we both loved it. This place knows how to prepare the crab, as it was meaty, sweet and great. Our husbands each had a fish sandwich that they were very happy with. We were too late for the steamers, they were all sold out by the time we sat down. We'll have to get there earlier next time. This isn't a fancy place, but it's fun, has lots of parking, an interesting crowd and great food. If you can get a seat at the bar on the patio, that's the best place. read more

We arrived to eat at about 4:30 pm or so. We moved tables due to drafts and an overall chilly indoor dining room. The waitress moved us to a table near a heat vent. It sat 6 people, although it was just the two of us, but it wasn't busy at all. The food came out sporadically. Then the waitress was clearly sent over to move us out of that table to another area to accommodate their anticipated crowd? The place was still far less than crowded, and we were buying food and drinks. So, not sure what their seating criteria is? . It felt like we were being pushed out. Hi my name is Richard O'Hagan. I am a Disabled Police officer and also a Navy Veteran. I traveled up from Long Beach Island to meet some high school friends. They suggested this place for a meal and some drinks. We had a very nice time until the band showed up and started setting up. I have a Service dog so the owner came over and proceeded to yell at us for having the dog. There are many ways to handle a situation, however i believe he was trying to be loud and obnoxious on purpose! Now not for nothing we had been there for several hours, buying drinks and food. However all of a sudden it became an issue. He made quite a scene and berated us for my Service dog. He then refused any of the identification I had for my dog. So the other customers could hear he stated that she was not a service dog and threw us out of the restaurant. She wasn't making any noise or creating any problems. In fact she was just laying on the floor asleep under the table. I am quite aware of my rights and the rules regarding Service animals. He wouldn't listen to anything i said. Please if you are considering going here reconsider. He is not Police or Military friendly. We weren't doing anything at the time he confronted us. I don't know what happened to all these other unhappy people but I came here last night with my 2 cousins & my one cousins boyfriend while visiting Jersey. We made a reservation as suggested by them beforehand and had a very nice dinner. Our server Wally was wonderful and put up with our constant need for things and goofy demeanors. I ordered the lobster bisque and snow crab legs. So so so good. Everyone else enjoyed their food as well. We had a couple drinks and everything tasted great. The rest of the staff we encountered were great as well. I was visiting for a week and kept complaining I couldn't find an affordable crab leg dinner and I finally got it on my last night! We often come for happy hour. The snow crab legs are my favorite. I have it served with the vegetable medley instead of fries. The vegetables are delicious. They serve real butter for dipping, an absolute must for me. The colossal shrimp cocktail are perfectly chilled and huge. I found the snow crab legs sweeter tasting , as I prefer, than the king crab legs. The Seafood Fra Diablo on special was delicious as well. If I could give this bar a negative or 0 stars I would. Went here last night for a quick drink. Wanted something quiet because I was on crutches since a surgery and didn't want to be smashed into at one of the better more crowded bars in the area. Upon arrival I fell on the deck due to the filth that had accumulated from the owners negligence mixed with the light humidity/dew on the deck, since it didn't rain at all yesterday. We were told not to hit our vapes, by the doors, we apologized and promptly put them away, the extremely inebriated owner then went on a drunken tirade of slurs and less than complimentary names (sl*t, wh*re, c*nt-im sure you can imagine more) being slung at us and proceeded to kick us out of the bar while we were sitting there enjoying a miserably overpriced & watered down Tito's & club, minding our own business. I was awfully slow moving on the crutches and he was following behind us, pushing into my friend who was blocking my back and screaming at me to get out. I told him to fall back because I did not want to FALL AGAIN and then he'd have a lawsuit on his hands... and he called me a motherf***er and said I was only coming there on my crutches looking to sue him for something.. big thanks to a Good Samaritan who got me back to my friend's car, and the two who initially got me up on the walk in and helped me into the bar. I should have taking the scuzzy disgusting deck and initial slip and fall as a hint to turn around and go home. You should know what to expect when you are eating here. This is not a restaurant that also has a big bar area and a stage. This is a dive bar that somehow setup a place to have some food. Came here on a Friday night at around 8:00. The place is so widespread and the tables are kind of all over the place. The tables are also folding tables and chairs with a cloth on it. I asked the bartender where we could sit and she said anywhere and said there was an empty table near the stage area. So we sat down and they brought us our silverware and plates (straight up plastic). Had a beer and that was served in an actual beer glass. Apparently there was a band going on that night at 10:00 PM. That band decided to setup while people were still eating and bump into them, reach over their tables and all around be annoying. Food: Meh, its fine - nothing bad but nothing I'd rush over to. We ordered Calamari, Philly cheese-steak spring rolls and a bar pie. It was fine. Decor: There is a big pool table in the center and the stage takes priorities over dining patrons. There are two bars and this is definitely a dive place. It was dusty and the entry way was filled with smokers that you had to make your way through in order to get inside. Price: It is well priced for the food and beer. At least not overpriced. Service: There wasn't really much of any. Someone took our order, someone else brought it. Beyond that - no one even looked our way unless it was to run into our table or throw something over it to get to the stage. Notable extras: If you are going there for the live music, have some beers and play some pool...this is a good spot. I have been going here since I was a child. At least 10 years. Always been a local place to go with my family since I was a kid. My parents have gone into this establishment religiously since before I could talk. Such a friendly and calm environment. Everyone knows everyone and customers and staff were always so friendly and family like to each and every person. Only place I would literally EVER get seafood. So fresh, so delicately plated and VERY well proportioned as well as priced. BEST seafood in the area as well as their other dishes. I walked in with my mother (after not being there a while) and was generously greeted by the owner while receiving amazing service from the waitress. I was offered a job, and of course agreed, loving the energy this place holds. I was welcomed by every single person and being taught how to properly do my job. I was taught and certified on how to be the best bar tender and server I can be. This place is a family, and works hard to succeed to have to best seafood, food in general, and the best customer service. With it being summer, so hot, and so busy, there may be a few that get frustrated, including me, but we are human, and are trying our best to accommodate our guests accordingly and correctly the best we can. If there's kids at a table, even though we don't have dessert, the owner keeps ice pops or candy in the back and personally goes out and gives it to them. I will never go there again as the owner threw out my friend, a disabled Police Officer, who is also a Veteran, for bringing in his service dog. The owner was loud and obnoxious and drawing the attention of the other patrons. The only entity allowed to decide if an animal is truly a service dog is a judge in a courtroom. Refusing service and/or being rude to a service Dog and handler is not only unprofessional behavior, but it is illegal at both state and federal levels. ADA also specifically prohibits cities, merchants and others from requiring proof that a dog is a service dog. It allows, in fact, only two questions. ... They may ask if the dog is a service animal that is required due to a disability and what type of work or task the dog has been trained to do. Service dog owners may not be asked about the nature of their disability. They may not be required to provide documentation of the dog's training. They must be allowed in establishments that prepare or serve food regardless of local or state health codes prohibiting animals on the premises. ADA service dog laws will always overrule local laws. Shame on you not only for what you did but waiting two hours after everyone ate and drank as the service dog laid quietly under the table to come over and throw us out. We use to frequent this place often however since they reopened after Sandy, they took away the restaurant seating inside and replaced it with picnic and pool tables and 6 or 8 TVS... the quality of the food no longer exist. the menu is very abbreviated. IT's no longer a place to bring your family(especially children) or your friends. The Bar accommodates regulars with language that you normally don't use and the kitchen is deplorable. It was an easily managed bar for a decent bartender. Terrible service. Terrible attitudes. They all seemed unhappy to be there, and sitting right in front of them I cannot tell you how many times they would just stroll by our empty beers/drinks. Not even on there way to do something... they weren't busy, they were just ignoring us. And they equally discriminate, they ignored the guys as well as the ladies. Stick with beers and shots at this place. 2 in our group were having cocktails and were CERTAIN this time around they water down the liquor. One even ordered a double $$$ and still could barely taste anything. Too bad, seems like a cool bar except the bartenders look miserable and are just lousy at there jobs. We will never go back. We stopped in after a day on the water for dinner. The waitress took our drink order quickly, then things slowed to a crawl. Although not busy at all, our appetizers and soup took over 50 minutes to come out. When our meal came out one order was wrong...we were told they had to remake it because it came so close to the appetizers and we were not ready and therefore they forgot two of the three items added to the burger; meanwhile the burger had been sitting as it was no longer rare and the shredded cheddar cheese they use had hardened and congealed. This was not good idea. The menu looks good but the food was awful. My husband ordered shrimp scampi with New England Clam Chowder and I had from the special seafood plate (tilapia, shrimps, scallops...) with fries and salad. Only the soup, fries and salad were OK. Shrimp scampi were distasteful. The deep fried scallops, tilapia, shrimps were to deep-fried, almost too difficult to eat. Finding this gem can be a little frustrating but once there I was happy I persisted. I was meeting an inebriated friend and the directions were given in dunkeneese. Once I had the proper address my GPS took over and I made it there no problem. Do not use the address on Yelp, it is not right. This place looks like your typical road house from the outside. It is built right in the marshes of the bay and has some great views off the back deck. I love bars full of characters and this one did not disappoint. The bartender is this little spark plug (I came to find out this was the owners daughter) who gives you free tude with every beer. I actually loved it. She made it a fun night. The owner, Billy, is a die hard Dolphin's fan. His car is custom painted Dolphin blue and total tricked out! He is the nicest guy and I had a great time talking with him, hanging out, drinking $2.50 drafts and eating seafood. This is a four star local dive with good seafood and great company. read more

Nestled in on the bay just North of Keyport nj is the Blue Rock. With a large outside serving bar and 2 nice big ones inside to belly up. Daily lunch and dinner specials from $6 to $14. Drink specials every day. The steamers on Monday $5.99 for a big bucket yum yum! $2.50 miller drafts that's what I'm talking about. Slow service you'll find yourself growing old waiting for food, but when it finally arrives you'll be happy. I couldn't resist the $6 shrimp salad sandwich with a big pickle and chips. Big chunks of jumbo shrimp with a light amount of mayo to hold it together. The lunch portions are fairly large from looking around. A small menu maybe 30 items or so. Yes it definitely looks kinda divey at the bar with landscapers/construction & labor types sitting around drinking in the middle of the day, but who am I to judge. This was another YELP find. The husband and I have been here a few times and have really enjoyed ourselves on both occasions. We sat at the back bar and watched as people played pool and we sat outside admiring the funny sayings on the signs and the great view. Service has been good on both visits just like the food. Food choices range from the typical Chicken Fingers, Poppers, Burgers, to some seafood. We love the King Crab Leg special and have flirted with the idea of a Lobster special. We liked it here although inside your going to want to try and sit at one of the bars. The tables seemed a bit large for just two people. The juke box is digital and there is a stage for a band. The outside bar is smokers paradise so plan to sit downwind of that or if your sitting inside beware of the smokey draft that blows through.
