The food was good, I can never complain about good clams. However, the way they treat their customers is down right disrespectful. I had ordered 3 martinis over a 2 hour time span. After the 3rd martini the waitress handed me a water and stated, "not everyone's drinking tolerance is the same, I'm sure you can drink but here's a water". Kind of rude but I ignored that. Shortly after I asked for a jameson sour, to which she replied "are you sure that's what you want?" She then proceeded to interrogate my friends who was driving to ensure I wasn't driving home. Now, I was not driving but the way she went about asking is what bothered me. She then brings over a drink that is bubbling and clearly carbonated. Jameson and sour is just jameson and sour mix, it should not be bubbling because it is not carbonated at all. I had all my friends try it, and they also assured me that it tasted like club soda and sour mix. We asked for the check because at that point she was clearly cutting me off in a passive aggressive way, and low and behold I was charged for not only my 3 martinis, but a double jameson and sour. This place is a little divey but always enjoy our stay. The food is not the best I have ever had but it is flavorful enough to enjoy and the drinks are always good. I absolutely love the outdoor bar when I go in the summer and spring but even the winter you can go outside because they have heating lamps. I love the Jukebox and the pools tables. Nice local place in Keyport. The menu was quite limited, however everything that we ordered was really good. My 4 shrimp were giant!!! Fresh, tasty , nice cocktail sauce on the side. The nachos were absolutely phenomenal, we just could not stop eating ! And the serving was pretty big. My daughter enjoyed her chicken tenders and fries, so did my husband with his flounder sandwich. My burger was perfectly cooked to medium rare, topped with some delicious mushrooms and cheese. Drinks were cheap and our server was attentive. We were weekly patrons of Blue Rock as we love the snow crab legs. Servers used to hustle and were very friendly and attentive. Lately, things have gone down hill. Servers are slow and just seem to hang around the bar AND have become rude. We went in for dinner and it took 15-20 minutes to even get a menu. We ordered water and she didnt bring to us for another 10 mins. We finally ordered an app and two meals. 45 mins later we still didnt get our app and werent offered any refills. We finally asked a bartender to cancel our order. She explained they were busy but at this point, we wanted to leave. When we told our server that we were unhappy, she got nasty and gave us an attitude. We will NOT be back. read more

Had an awesome time tonight with my husband!!!! We got the king crab legs and they were delicious! From the beginning, the bartenders were friendly and funny- they made us feel welcome, which really should be the goal of every restaurant. Our food was delicious, and our drinks never went dry. As soon as I walked in and went directly to the bathroom, I should have known to leave. It was extremely dirty. The floors looked as if they were not washed in a year! Since I was with my boyfriend, another couple and also because we docked by boat, I decided to stick it out. We started with two appetizers. Shrimp in the rough and buffalo wings. The shrimp were HUGE and the cocktail sauce was spicy and delicious. The wings were also very tasty as was the homemade blue cheese but the wings came whole including the tips. For dinner, I stuck with shrimp and ordered the Cajun shrimp. My companion ordered a special called almond crusted scallops with a plum sauce. Our friends ordered a seafood dish over pasta and King crab legs. This is where the problems started. The scallops were awful. They were encrusted in almonds and shaped into balls. The almonds tasted raw and were overwhelming with no flavor at all. The sauce was bright purple and surprisingly tasteless. The scallops were mushy inside. My boyfriend asked to return it. Our friend's dish, the seafood over pasta, was also being returned. The seafood was so bland, water logged and chewy. The sauce was like water swimming on the bottom of the plate. Nothing was coated with the sauce. Well, when we asked the server for something different, she responded, "Oh, come on guys." Then shortly after, a man who was either the owner, manager or chef came to the table asking what the problem was. We explained and then he left. He came back a moment later and put down a small cup of sauce and said, "You are going to tell me this sauce has no flavor?? This sauce has plenty of flavor!" I told him that the sauce he just put down had a layer of oil over the top of it. It was too thin and would not coat the seafood or pasta. He then just walked off. Never in all my years of dining out did I ever have a worker come to the table and argue over something being sent back. It was humiliating and he was chatting with other customers at the bar about it. They were all staring at us and made it a very uncomfortable dining experience. I would never return to this establishment. They need to take some classes on customer service and also get a good cleaning company in there in addition to a new chef or two! Beware! read more

Granted, the last time I was at this place, was when I lived in the area, back in 2001. But I LOVED this place. My now-ex and I would go quite often for all you can eat crab night or 2 for 1 lobster. And it would come with sides and salad, etc. The whole nine yards. We get pitcher after pitcher of beer - I'd be happily full and tipsy at the end of it all. Not worth one star, but I have to press one to post a review (and it takes alot for me to even want to write one)! I couldn't even get a drink on November 12 when I came for the first time. The band was ASS KICKING, but I left early because I couldn't get the bar staff to serve us. My girlfriends and I stood at the bar and I had my hand up like a school girl for 10 minutes trying to get their attention and the male bartender was slower than gumby. I'll follow that band if I can find out their name if someone knows, because there was nothing advertised for that date on their website and we left too soon too aggravated to ask, I tried calling for two days to let management know about its staff but the phone just rang and rang. Outside eating area was nice. It's right on the water so you can see boats hanging out. Service was ok. The food however was not. I ordered the shrimp sandwhich. The shrimp was mushy, smelled like fish and tasted like expired seafood. I couldn't even finish it. My friend ordered the chicken sandwhich. He said it was pretty much a freezer burned chicken patty. First time to take the order, when we finally placed our order which consisted of a Caesar salad, buffalo wings, and steamers it took over 40min for our food to get to us and she completely forgot the steamers. My drink had no alcohol in it what so very. She never checked in us after we received our food, and again we had to go looking for her just to close out our tab! I would never go back. Great vibe at the blue rock. Owner Billy is very accommodating in making sure you are well taken care of evidenced by the tailgate parties for the Sunday NFL games which cannot be beat. I was at the back bar on a Thursday and Frankie was a spot on bartender with prompt service and ice cold beer. Can't beat the shrimp cocktail and the food is excellent. Great diversified menu with decent portions and fairly reasonable. Plenty of seafood. Bar is cool and lots of local bands. Jukebox seems to be stuck in the 60's which is ok but tiring after an hour or so. Bathrooms are absolutly disgusting and very disappointing. Looks they haven't been touched since Sandy. Well we get to the restaurant and sit outside. After 5 min of waiting to be served we get told by the waitress that we have to move cause they are trying to reserve the big tables for bigger parties. So we moved. Then we had 2 waitresses taking our orders which they missed half the order. After getting the order correct 20min later we start eating. Flounder sandwich was good, onion rings were decent, crab cakes were small and over cooked. Calamari well we never received it. Overall the service lacked and food as well.
