The sauces are all homemade and in my opinion, they're really the star of the show. If you want to go all out you can get the "king's portion" double scoop sundae, but I appreciate that they also serve single scoop "queen's portions" for a slightly lower cost. The staff are always friendly and efficient, willing to make modifications so that you can craft the ice cream of your dreams. Worth noting is the very silly water station near the front door. Condrell's has always served tiny glasses of water, which is now offered in Dixie cups that you fill yourself. If you're trying to stay super hydrated these baby sized cups aren't going to meet your needs, but I have come to expect them and think they add to the charm of the venue.

All of my exclamation points are totally relative to my amazement lol (I am also thinking of Elaine Benes right now for any fellow Seinfeld fans). They had a big banner hanging out front that said they sold Buffalo's famous sponge candy, so I knew I had to stop in. This small family-owned candy shop looks like it's been a neighborhood staple for years. It's been open since 1947! The sweet older lady at the counter was very welcoming to us as tourists, and even offered plenty of free samples for us to try. Now that I've tried it, I will say that sponge candy isn't my favorite. But we wanted something uniquely Buffalo to take home, and ended up purchasing a few variety bags. They also sell chocolates in pretty little designs and cookies too, all handmade! I couldn't resist a flower-shaped chocolate on a stick, which set me back about $2.50. I enjoyed it on the plane and it was very good chocolate. If you want to support a local business and shop local, Ko-Ed Candies is the place! There's limited street parking and it's located in the middle of a residential neighborhood, so be aware that it may be difficult to find a spot on busy days.
