Blueberry Hill has admittedly never been particularly about the food per se, but my goodness this was an uninspired and subpar meal for all four of us. Food was warm at best, Turkey burger tasted and had texture more like a bad breakfast sausage than anything particularly healthy, or even turkey for that matter. French Fries were almost stale in texture and taste, service was awkwardly indifferent at best, and the place is kind of a dirty and dusty mess. Feels like they've sort of given up. Which is a surprise and a shame considering the commitment and investment Joe Edwards has made in the Loop. Just a disappointment. read more

I wish I could leave a better review. Unfortunately, I can't review the food, because we were never able to get any. We stopped in on a Saturday night before a Pageant show. Surprisingly, they weren't overly crowded or busy. You seat yourself, but after 10 or so minutes, we had to ask if we had a waitress. She did finally come over and was very sweet. We ordered drinks, which came out in a reasonable time, and we placed our food order. After about 30 minutes, we asked for an ETA. It was quite some time before she came back to tell us there were "still a few tickets ahead of you," and it would likely be another 20 minutes or so. This would have put us at the 1 hour 15 minute mark for 2 burgers, and that was if the 20 minute estimate was accurate. At this point we didn't want to chance it, as we still had to walk the several blocks to the Pageant. We canceled our order and cashed out. As we left, the people walking in front of us noted that they, too, were leaving after an hour or so of waiting. I get that help is in high demand and low supply these days. But it would have been nice to know that there was an extensive wait time from the kitchen before we sat down and waited for that long. I love how it's 21+ after 9 pm so there aren't any kids running around. The night menu is actually not bad for a night menu! My friend Bob comes to Saint Louis periodically to see his girlfriend Libby quite a bit. While they are both in their late 80s, they are very active and love to go out to eat. Bob loves hamburgers, and so when he is in town, I like to take him to new places (new to him) to try a burger. It's been fun. I know taking him to Blueberry Hill was going to be great since Bob loves collecting stuff, loves baseball, and lives close to Roy Roger's hometown. He loved looking around and commented on a lot of the antiques. It's a great place to take out-of-towners. Plus, the Loop is fun. My turkey sandwich was good. Bob thought his burger was good. The fries were good. (See a theme?) The service? Not so good, honestly. I sort of felt like we were annoying our server. Did we ask for anything out of the ordinary? Nope. I was looking forward to a good meal. Blueberry Hill was highly recommended. The ambiance was what was expected. Unfortunately the food and service we experienced was far below par. Service was very slow. We were told that we were forgotten about when we waited a really long time for our check. Burgers were dried out, well everything was dry. French fries have seen better days, Captain Gordon's frozen fish is more flavorful and appearance is more appetizing than the freezer burned excuse of fish that was served today. Club sandwich served with bacon that appeared to have been cooked days ago. Club sandwich was ordered on sourdough, no onions, tomatoes or mayo. Guess what? It was a burger with a big Onion Ring, cheespickles and Barbecue sauce. The burger was a bit dry but otherwise okay. The fries were good. They called them buffalo fries which made us think they would have a kick to them but just normal spices. The service was good. They were busy but the staff was attentive. I think we went on a busy night though and although we found a table for our group of 6 (its a seat-yourself joint), the waitress told us upfront that it will be about a 45min wait for food. We had no plans except to eat and maybe play some darts after so no concern there. The drinks were flowing and when the food arrived it all hit the spot. We got fried pickles and cheese balls for the table which were a crowd pleaser. Their western burger was delicious. And they have probably some of my favorite wings in stl. Keep in mind if sitting on the right of the bar, you are sitting above the Duck Room which is there concert venue below the restaurant so it will feel louder. I ended up ordering the turkey burger on a pretzel bun. It was very tasty. Unfortunately when I folded my napkin over the half burger I was saving the waitress interpreted that as "throw it away". I've lived in Saint Louis my entire life and always knew Blueberry Hill was a staple in the community but never tried it to be honest. If you're looking for a nice place to go in saint louis for a drink i. Some nice comfort food this is your place to go. We all love our mid day naps. The only struggle is when we wake up afterwards with no energy to cook and all of the local places to eat are close. This is especially challenging if you're vegan because of the mostly limited options we face. All things considered I set myself up for disappointment because of the limited options already in STL. That disappointment quickly subsided when I discovered that blueberry had vegan options and stays open late. I tried the impossible burger and loved it. They cooked it well done to my request and it was available as soon as I arrived. I do think it was overpriced considering the fries are not offered as a side item. The pick up was not ideal either as I had to wait a while for a bartender that was either overwhelmed or inattentive or maybe both honestly. Such a fun place completely filled with pop culture and music memorabilia. The food is fine, nothing great, but it's all about the atmosphere. The service is friendly and prompt. We stopped in for lunch after visiting some record stores in the area. We shared a excellent club sandwich, and some local beers. The sandwich was pure diner nostalgia, served with chips, the bacon was crisp and flavorful, couldn't ask for much more. It a great place to visit if your have never been, a real kind of must stop. Blueberry Hill is my favorite spot on the loop to meet up with friends for drinks any night of the week. The drinks are STRONG (known for their heavy pours) so you get your money's worth. If you need a cocktail recommendation, I love their cherry limeade. We also enjoy playing darts when we can find an open dartboard--you ask at the bar for the darts. Food wise, I don't normally come here for a full meal but I almost always get an order of fried pickles to share--the ranch they are served with is sooo good. Upon entering, you must seat yourself. I was meeting with someone, so I found him and sat down. Nothing has changed in that place since I moved here 31 years ago (same booths, same decor, etc.). Now, the booths are riddled with high school detention scribble like the Shack. It was hard to focus on the conversation at hand because when I looked up, the walls were covered with super thick dust, and it looked like it hadn't been cleaned since 1972. When I looked at the stuffed duck on the wall near the last booth near the back of the front room, it was covered in so much thick dust and grease, not even Dawn dishwashing liquid could save its life. I tried to ignore it as our very attentive waitress ensured our food and drink orders were placed. This was a huge change from the last time I was here because we had to order at the window and pick up our own food. The servers were definitely bustling about with top-notch service. I could see into the kitchen and they could see me too. Our waitress was worried about our food taking a while and assured us our order was up next. I wasn't even tripping off how long it was taking, but it was very nice that she was on top of it. When she sat our paper lined plastic basket down of food, I quietly laughed inside at my hockey puck shaped burger. I know 4oz is smaller than what my dinner date ordered (7oz) but I was thinking they'd at least smash it to the size of the bun or something. I had to stop and think about how I could get all of my toppings together and eat it. I strategically layered it and topped it with Grey Poupon and ketchup. When I took my first bite, it had absolutely no flavor. I took more bites and the same thing. Seasonless and sadness. It was nice that it was grilled and cooked how I asked (medium rare), but it had absolutely no flavor. I'd usually order chicken tenders every time I've been there, so it was a shock to my taste buds, that burger. My date ordered the 7oz burger with bacon and a side of fries. Lots of movie and sports memorabilia on the walls as well as local celebrity stuff. When we arrived, it was fairly busy but we seated ourselves (as the sign at the front said we could do) and a waitress quickly got us menus and then waters. When we ordered, she said it would take about 45 minutes for food to come out. Well, our fried zucchini appetizer came out in 7 minutes and our burger, fries, fish and chips, and reuben, came out 11 minutes later. (She totally did not address the disparity.) This was my first time here. I went with my boyfriend and his friends before the El Monstero concert at the Pageant on Wednesday. When we arrived there was plenty of seating. When our waitress came to our table we were told that food would be a 45 min wait. That was okay because we got there about 1.5 hours before the show. Our drinks came relatively quickly. When more members of our party arrived drinks (only beer) came slower and the bartenders at the bar wouldn't take direct drink orders from people at tables because they didn't want to take the waiters business?! Anyway, the food took closer to 1 hour to come out. And I noticed that people who arrived after us got their food before us. We had to eat quickly to get to the Pageant on time (no food pics!) . The food was good. I ordered an impossible burger with fries and my boyfriend got the chicken tenders and fries. No complaints on the food. We finally got the menu, ordered a drink, and looked the menu over. Burgers and fries, a few other things. Typical bar food. Nothing too complicated. So we each ordered burgers. So the food? We never got it. We waited for almost 45 minutes. We had finished our drinks and had to wave down our server to ask for an update on our food. She went to check and said they were running behind and there were a few tickets ahead of ours, it would be another 20 minutes. Sorry, but no. We closed out our tab, which consisted of two drinks, and left. On the way out, we met two other groups that had had the same experience. There are a lot more options on the Loop. Blueberry hill is well priced and has decent food and service. It probably isn't my first choice for somewhere to eat but it has the classic American diner type food. They have a full selection of drinks though, and I think this is a great place to go and hangout with some cheap drinks. read more

Blueberry Hill is a staple of St. Louis nightlife, and has been for decades. Anytime my friends want to go bar hopping in the Loop, it always starts with a few pints from the massive draft list at Blueberry Hill. I'm always so surprised at the depth of their selection as far as beer choices go! Aside from the awesome beer selection Blueberry Hill oozes history. SO many amazing Blues and Rock and Roll legends played in this Loop establishment. I was not lucky enough to ever see Chuck Berry perform at Blueberry Hill, but you can just sense the history when you walk through the door. Plus the memorabilia is SO fun to look at. You can spend hours looking at all the music themed toys that line the walls of Blueberry Hill and still find something you have never seen the next time you visit. Plus my absolute favorite part about Blueberry Hill is getting to play darts on a REAL dart board. There is something so satisfying about the feeling of throwing darts into a cork dart board. The room that houses a wall of dart boards has SO much energy. That room is my absolute favorite to hang out in. The staff of Blueberry Hill has always been exceptionally friendly. There are so many people begging for drinks and food, and they do such an awesome job of making sure everyone is taken care of. Special shout out to the absolute BEST bartender in the game who serves us everytime we visit Blueberry Hill, Mike. Wow! This was our last stop and I'm so depressed this was how we chose to leave St. Louis our last stop closing out an amazing weekend. Seriously.So.Depressing. This place looks forgotten about. I think the most depressing part was the $100 we spent here and a cheeseburger, two orders of baby slider cheeseburgers, grilled cheese (which wasn't even cooked long enough for the cheese to be melted), chicken noodle soup, and buffalo fries that had zero buffalo seasoning. The chicken noodle soup was AMAZING but the cheeseburgers were burnt, buffalo fries were tasteless, regular fries were tasteless. Let's put this into perspective: we spent $104 @ 360 St. Louis and the food was mind blowing, this was NOT $100 meal, like nope no way - our check is how much I'd rather go to Cheesecake Factory or even Olive Garden & we probably would've spent less. Just because you're family owned doesn't mean you can charge $11.00 for A THREE DOLLAR UNCOOKED GRILLED CHEESE and chicken noodle soup. Based on some of the recent reviews, I was hesitant to visit. We visited Christmas weekend and since the rest of the city seemed to be slow, we went for it. I am glad we did. There is more seating and space than I had anticipated. The rooms are pretty broken up, so you don't really know how full the place is. You could easily fit several hundred people in the place which makes sense why sometimes service is slow even when your room doesn't 'seem' busy. The place is filled with odds and ends, some antique style things like the Schlitz beer sconce we sat under. Then there's memorabilia type stuff like the poster that Chuck Berry signed after his 200th concert. When we went it was seat yourself and our server showed up pretty promptly. We ordered 2 beers and fried pickles. Both of which were back to us in a matter of minutes. The beers were nice and cold, and the pickles were lava as they are supposed to be when freshly made. The food runner did make sure we knew they were hot as all get out before they even set them down. I also found it hilarious (but factual) that Miller, Budweiser and Buch are marked as local beers. If you are driving (responsibly I hope) there, parking is pretty typical for a business area. Mostly parallel parking and you're likely going to loop back and forth for a bit. read more

Checked this super cool place while visiting STL On a Friends Suggestion, and let me tell ya; what an intersecting bar. I'd define it as a bar with multiple personalities. I have nostalgic memories and recently had a craving for Blueberry Hill. Grudgingly my family came along andbwe had a party of five Now they have a standard sandwich and Burger along with appetizers. The food was just okay, not bad and nothing to rave about either. What killed me was the bill. For five people to get sandwiches and drinks, and a couple orders of pretzels with cheese it costs well over 100. My entire party was shocked. each of us left swearing never to return. This place was so fun. The people that on this place have made it into a very eclectic establishment. You can really go back in time depending on what room, what the venue will be. There are a lot of pictures of famous people with the gentleman that owns this restaurant, I wish I would've known them back in the day. We had already eaten when we arrived there so we decided to just go ahead and have a beer and a cocktail and walk around. It was never ending, it really took us down memory lane, the memorabilia was amazing. These people had a great passion in their life that turn this place into a really fun place to go visit. As I recall, they do have some light music there at certain times, Now that could be really fun. We took some out of towners there for lunch to give them a tourist experience. Had burgers all around. I would rate the burgers as "edible" (it's hard to ruin a burger) but I would take any fast food chain burger over them. Server was OK. What saved the visit was the memorabilia - the memorabilia collections and celebrity photos impressed our guests and made the experience worthwhile. We might take tourists there again, pre-apologizing for the food, but we would not go there ourselves for the food. read more
