Although I live in the colony, I haven't been to the Frisco location and this is the first time I've ever heard of this place. I was helping my friend move here and we happened to just look up places near by. I gotta say I was genuinely surprised. We went around 8:30 and the place was pretty dead but realized they were a newer place that just opened recently. The service was great and the server was super welcoming. The menu is big and they don't have certain things probably because it's a newer location or just cause into Frisco has it so make sure to ask. I ended up getting salmon belly sashimi, the tornado roll and the spicy salmon mania roll. The presentation on the sashimi was chefs kiss. It was too beautiful for me to eat but I just had to haha. The quality of the fish was amazing and so fresh. I'm not a roll guy because of the rice ratio at most places but the ratio was perfect and the size of the rolls were honestly bigger than I thought they would be. I haven't had rolls in so long and these did not disappoint. Great service. Tempura was awesome in taste and portion. I would skip the Cowboy sushi roll - too much and difficult to eat. Granddaughter loved the soup/broth and the cotton candy was a fun treat. Will definitely go back and try different rolls. read more

I know Bluefin has been here since they opened but never really had a chance to visit since they close at 2:30pm everyday and reopen back at 4:30pm for dinner service. Unfortunately, that gap time is my only time that I am able to visit during the week. Luckily this time I was off from work and I had errands around this area so it's the perfect time to visit. I ordered the Tempura Bento not knowing it was a really huge serving. I ordered a salmon roll as well. I had a lot of leftover to take home after the fact realizing what I had just done. lol. Long time customer, but will never eat here again. Picked up a 2 pepper tuna rolls for lunch. We eat here several times a month. The tuna on the rolls were graying and the avocado was brown I tried to call but the phones were off so I went up to the restaurant. I showed them and either just wanted a refund or to remake the roll with fresh fish. They told me no and that the roll looked fine to eat, and that if I wanted something else I would have to pay for it. I was very kind and understanding. Fish should be something taken seriously when a customers says it looks, smells and tastes funny. A refund or at least the option to remake the dish with fresh ingredients should always be an option. The menu offered your typical selection of suburban sushi rolls. The prices are pretty standard. The sushi itself was fresh and tasty, although it didn't quite blow me away in terms of flavor or presentation. The rolls were on the smaller size compared to my favorite sushi restaurants. Overall, Bluefin works for a casual meal out with friends/family. While it may not be the best sushi I've ever had, it's a solid option in the Wylie area without having to drive downtown, deal with parking, or feel the need to dress all fancy. read more

I always judge a Sushi place based on how they bring out the food. I've been to local Sushi joints that will bring you the appetizer, and all 3 rolls, all in one go. And let me tell you, 9 times out of 10, that is going to be some dry ass sushi. Bluefin very much impressed me! First, we asked for cocktail recommendations and our server told me to order a secret cocktail called the blueberry lemon drop, not even on the menu. Then we ordered an appetizer and three rolls. Best sushi in the area by far. You can tell they use quality ingredients. We used to go to Plano to eat at Edoko, but I would say quality is on par with that. I have tried at least 10 different menu items on five or more occasions and they're all solid. Service is friendly every time and pretty quick. The only feedback I have is regarding the ambiance. I wish it was a little more trendy. It is rather plain inside if you're thinking of a date setting and the music is odd, but I don't mind sitting at the bar and having a few rolls when I'm in the neighborhood. We came in on a weekend evening around dinner time but didn't have any trouble being seated immediately (though the place was mostly full. The service was quick and friendly, and the food came out quickly. The sushi rolls (spicy dragon and one other) were both very good. The fish was fresh and overall quite delicious. We also got a fried rice dish, which was solid but not spectacular. Overall m, I enjoyed this place and I would return. It wasn't the best sushi I've had in my life but I don't have any complaints. Being fairly new I don't have much nearby to compare it to, so maybe the hype is justified, but tough to say. I was looking to try some sushi and some shrimp fried rice to go from somewhere nearby that's a little nicer than a lot of the strip mall style spots we have in abundance close by. Bluefin is a bit of a step above some of the rest of the options we have in the Wylie area. They had both salmon and tuna Toro nigiri on their menu. I decided to grab the Salmon and wasn't disappointed. I think I still like UMI the most overall nearby, but Bluefin is a MUCH closer option for those who don't want to drive all the way down 78 almost to the George Bush Turnpike.
