Cute, small, cosy restaurant with huge portion of food at a reasonable price. I went in for the first time today, even though the place was tiny, it was not crowded so you won't have to wait. Nice sushi rolls, the rice was a little bit mushy and salty. Maybe it was just because I am used to plain food, without using too much salt. At first I went out for sashimi, then I forgot... aiz, should've ordered sashimi though. I spent $18.80 today. A good place for enjoying yourself after a long day of work.

Bluefin Sushi is located in the Sapperton area of New Westminster, directly across from Royal Columbian Hospital. The interior of this place is rather dark but I got seated at a table with some bright lights above it. I started out my lunch with an order of some nigiri sushi. The Chopped Scallop ($1.50) looked a bit different than I'm used to due to the colour. Meanwhile, the Ikura ($1.95) was creamy with a pleasant popping texture. I was a bit disappointed that the Tako ($1.95) was a bit squishy in texture (almost like it was a bit too wet). The Unagi ($1.50) was enjoyable as it was buttery in texture... almost as buttery as the Toro ($1.75). The only negative to the toro was that the fish was so delicate that it was almost falling apart. Lastly, the Salmon nigiri ($1.50) was also pretty good as it had a nice, clean finish. Overall, the nigiri was pretty good but I thought that some of the seafood was a bit too "wet". During my visit, I also ordered a dish of Chicken Karaage ($5.95) which turned out to be deep-fried chicken wings. While the chicken wings had a light, tempura-like coating, the meat was a bit dry and I honestly prefer boneless karaage. I really wish that restaurants would say if their karaage was boneless or just regular chicken wings. I'd say that some dishes are hit-and-miss here with most items being pretty good. You might want to try out nearby Ikoi Sushi.

3.8. We come here exclusively for the poke bowls. You can create your own or they have ready made bowls, the owner recommended we create our own. Probably the biggest poke bowls we have had in terms of portion size, and for a decent price (used to be $12 but I think they raised the price to $13 or $14). If you're in the area make sure to come here and try the poke. We haven't had anything else here but our friends have mentioned the other hot items on the menu are good as well.

Very large portions and some standard rolls. Good for a quick bite. Good value generally. Down to earth place.

It comes with minced beef and…read morepork, soft boiled egg, seaweed, grinded fish, bamboo shoot, egg yolk, and multi-grain noodle. They give you a very small scoop of rice to soak up the remaining sauce. I quite liked my dish. It had a good amount of flavor, and was mildly spicy. However, the dish was quite oily. They recommend adding vinegar whenever the dish feels too salty or oily, so I tried adding a light splash of vinegar. At first I was worried it would ruin the dish, but it didn't. It helped with the oil. I was disappointed in the amount of rice that they offered, but it is also complimentary, so I can't really complain. We also got the chicken karaage with honey mayo to share. The dip was so good. The chicken was tender. At times it was a bit hard to flag down a server, because we were in a bit of an odd spot. However, whenever they were at our table the customer service was good. Our server was honest about their regular sized portions being on the small size, so he recommended that I do the free upgrade to XL.

I had decided to go to Tokyo Kokoro Mazesoba after hearing from a family member say it was pretty good. We went for lunch, which wasn't busy. Mind you it was a weekday so it makes sense. Once seated we had the option to order off the iPad or with the waitress. We ordered: Classic Minced Meat Sauce Mazesoba $16.50 -added a pork tonkatsu $7.95 Chashu Ramen $17.95 What both dishes were missing was finesse. Sometimes the simplest things can ruin a dish. The mazesoba was covered in so much green onions, you couldn't tell that it was suppose to be a noodle dish. The tonkatsu felt like a frozen chicken nugget and was super dry. The ground fish powder should really be an option that you can sprinkle your own on it like salt or pepper because it really over powered the dish completely. The Ramen was fine. It really didn't blow me away nor did the chunky whites of the green onion enjoyable at all. It was... just fine. I'm not sure if it was the day we went or just the lack of oversight in the ingredients or preparation but it wasn't good. The wait staff was friendly and helpful, and like any review you take it all with a grain of salt. I'm not saying don't go and try it, I'm saying maybe try a different location.

Your preference will depend upon subtleties about noodle thickness and texture and broth flavors, but there is always, always a line in front of Ramen Danbo. A lot of it is probably due to hype or fame, but I have to admit that I think it does edge out the others in several ways. I think the noodles themself are more flavorful and more delicate. And I have to say the pork was extremely tender and flavorful. The egg was perfectly prepared, and the broth was perfectly seasoned to my desired spiciness level. They also do a great job searing their gyozas. Because of its overwhelming popularity, they have perfected the ordering process so that you can fill out a form while you're in line, which greatly reduces your wait time. It's easy to get in and out of here in 30 min, and I'm sure that is their goal. As a result, the dining experience might not exactly be relaxing, but if your focus is on the best quality bowl of noodles that you can get, I think it is worth the wait.
