Went there around noon with our family, and we had a GREAT experience! Had to wait a bit because it was busy and the space was small, but it was well worth it! After a long night drive from Orlando Fl, My family and I stumbled upon this little whole in the wall and I must say WOW! Wow, this was a delicious breakfast! I had a cheddar cheese omelet with grits and a biscuit. My wife had one of the specials, french toast drizzled with chocolate sauce, peaches, and strawberries. We cleaned our plates and it kept us full until around 4! The service was very friendly. The only negative is that there was about a 15 minute wait outside where it was pretty humid and hot. This was about 10:00 on a Saturday morning. About 10 minutes to get the food. But the wait is well worth the food! Parking was easy in this area... it's not downtown where you have to pay. read more

I love this place and will go anytime I can. The atmosphere is very warm and cozy. The restaurant is always packed but somehow, that adds to the coziness of the place. The food is amazing and the most frustrating thing about the experience is trying to narrow menu choices down to just one thing. I got the pancakes, fruit, and coffee. The food is good. Really good. Like really great good. There's a good variety of possibilities on the menu and the service is attentive without being disruptive. A couple of items to keep in mind: 1) as with any restaurant that has great food, there will be lots of folks that want to eat it. Bluegrass Grill isn't tiny but it on the small side & has limited seating. Expect to wait and don't be frustrated by it. 15 to 25 minutes is normal. 2) they do a great job of getting the orders and getting the food served, so tables flip regularly. 3) Sunday buffet brunch the last Sunday of every month. One of the very few breakfast places in downtown. Was recommended by our hotel. Waited about 30 mins to get a seat. WORTH IT. The menu is decent. The food was great. The service was fantastic. While waiting for our table they brought out a tray of coffee for everyone. The biscuit that came with our meals was different but great (esp. with honey!). We were also brought some gravy in case we wanted to turn it into a biscuit with gravy. My boyfriend and I stopped in Chattanooga overnight because that was our half way point from Chicago to Florida. Before getting back on the road early in the morning we decided to get something to eat. He looked online at what looks good and has a good rating and stumbled onto this place! Was I glad we stopped here! We had to wait about 20 min to be seated because the place is small and very crowded but it's absolutely worth it!!! The people there are very nice and the waitress we had was a very sweet lady! It looks like the staff is proud of their work and that just makes the whole experience that much better. The food was so tasty and if I wasn't so full I would have wanted to try everything on that menu! I loved the coffee mugs that they served coffee in! Thank you Yelp community. This is a fabulous find. I had the salmon frittata, potatoes, wheat biscuit and small dish of gravy. My husband had eggs, potatoes, ham, wheat toast and pancakes. Everything was excellent. I couldn't get enough of the salmon frittata. The herb sour cream made it over the top. The wheat biscuit was really good, I couldn't get enough of it either. The gravy was so-so, not the best to "write home about". We did have to wait for a table to open but we don't mind. You know it's got to be good if you have to wait. read more

Waiting is a bit awkward, you have to stay in line basically but there's no real direction from staff. Veggie omelet was good and potatoes on side were nicely seasoned. I love everything about this place - the intimate size, the brick walls, the coffee, the bustle of busy servers and a line of customers waiting for tables, the mismatched dishes, and the food. Especially the food. The menu has something for everyone and the execution of the food is excellent. My personal favorite is the pancakes with fruit and scrambled eggs but everything is good. A small dining room usually means be patient waiting for a table. Once you get past that reality, our service was outstanding. We had our three boys with us (all 4 and under) and they brought various toys/games and a small plate of fruit and help appease them while we waited our our food. Our server was quick with coffee refills (very important to me) and the place at a lot of character. My wife enjoyed what was left of her French toast after our 1 year old devoured it. I would love to say how much I enjoyed my pancakes (always my first choice), but they were simply average. I would certainly go back and try one of their omelets or the French toast. read more

We stayed up all night just to make it to breakfast at this place before work, because their hours are terrible for non-morning people. As vegetarians we had to try it because of all its great reviews (and seeing it categorized as vegetarian). Being not morning people, it was really weird to see the morning crowd, mostly guys in suits, but we found a good safe corner in the back. I was actually a little disappointed by the menu, having the impression it was more vegetarian/vegan friendly than it actually was. We found the tofu hash and I had them make me a scramble with tofu rather than egg. I was really looking forward to vegetarian biscuits and gravy, which they did not have. The scramble and hash were good but small, the coffee was good and ingredients were great, fresh and healthy. I suggest anyone staying or living in Chattanooga give it a try, if they can get up early enough or make it on a Saturday (since like most of the South, everything is basically boarded up on Sundays, especially all the best food). read more

This is such a cozy restaurant. The coffee was fantastic! The server was as sweet as can be. The food was great (the biscuit was a bit dry). The best part was when our server asked if we would like some apple butter, and followed up with, "Mom makes the best apple butter." If we lived in Chattanooga we would go here every week. This family owned restaurant was fantastic! The staff were hustling and so efficient. They were friendly and got you orders in. There is a wait but that is bc it sooo good. There is no hostess to wait on you. As you get to the front and a table clears they seat you. We wanted to try everything on the menu. The pancakes were excellent. Also ordered a biscuit sandwich, grits, hot tea, coffee. We were happily full when we left. This place is worth it and I highly recommend it.
