What an amazing find in Chattanooga! We stopped in for a Sunday breakfast and were so excited for everything they had to offer. The bagel sandwiches are 5 . Tater tots are amazing. French toast is special. I wish we had had room for their chicken. Our server was super nice and helped us decide on our meal. The atmosphere is casual but with the open kitchen, we had fun watching them prep the food. We will definitely stop in again on our next visit and try more. read more

Since spending more time in my hometown, my Mom wanted to treat me last weekend to one of the newer restaurants in the happenin Southside neighborhood - Honey Seed. And what a treat it is! The outdoor seating Sunday night dinner atmosphere is calm and content. String lights strung throughout large wooden beams overhead. Tables spread out. Decent seating. Not crowded. The wait staff appears friendly and attentive. But the food and beverage experience is what's most memorable - absolutely uniquely delicious and making everyone want more. To start, we ordered espresso martinis. Honey Seed served up a perfect blend of liquor, coffee, and cream. And a strong one! For an appetizer, we enjoyed the biggest and one of a kind shaped tator tots possibly in existence. The middle of each tasted like if a potato latke and a piece of cornbread got mashed up together. And the outsides look like fried onion strings. Best tator tots ever had. For our entrees, we decided to create a pizza combo, half bbq chicken and half burrata. Each so tasty! The bbq chicken side had caramelized onions and cilantro complimenting roasted chicken and the right amount of bbq drizzle. The burrata side had roasted garlic, spicy Calabrian peppers, fresh mozzarella, and the signature honey seed crust. We came here on two separate occasions during our 4-day trip in Chattanooga based on its convenient proximity to our AirBnB. The first time we came for a late lunch. I got the Chicken BLTA Panini, my partner got the Turkey Brie Panini, and we split an order of their Tater Tots, as recommended by our waiter. My CBLTA was okay and my partner really liked his Turkey Brie Panini (I liked it too), and we both really liked the Tater Tots. Our second time we came for a late breakfast. Funny enough, we had the same waiter - he was great. This time I got the Turkey Brie Panini and an order of the Tater Tots. I was very happy this time around. I would definitely recommend the Turkey Brie Panini - especially because it keeps well - I didn't finish mine and had the other half as a snack later. For starters this place is always packed! It's so fun; they have live music some days from local artists, amazing drinks, and a banging menu! I recommend the chicken and waffles or French Toast. You won't regret it especially when you get the amazing syrup that comes with it. Try out an Espresso Martini and feel yourself melt with coffee decadence. We visited for brunch before hitting the highway back to Memphis. Very quick wait times. Option for indoor or outdoor seating and we chose to sit on the patio. This place is incredible! Very cute and hippie-styled with boho charm. Marie was a great server, so sweet and helpful. She was interested in talking to us for a minute about our journey here. The food was awesome. We tried so many of the menu items - Cinnamon Babka, Deviled Eggs, beignets, margerita pizza, lavender lemonade, tomato basil soup! This is my daily go place to grab lunch. Options are excellent, you can get chicken and waffles, big salad with salmon or chicken, pizza (all are good), bagels (all are amazing). Oh em gee did Honey Seed deliver! After a quick google/yelp search we found Honey Seed up the road from our AirBnB and were super thankful they were actually opened early on Sunday's. We had the option to make reservations, so we did, but there was no line when we arrived so the hostess sat us immediately. It smelled so fresh and all of the staff seemed happy to be there. It was a very chill, casual vibe in the restaurant and even though it was becoming 'brunch time' - the customers were all CHILL and not the crazy 'day-drinking' brunch type. Our waitress welcomed us with some waters and highlighted some favorites and listed off the specials then gave us a minute to process and decide. She came back after checking on another table and quickly rang our order in (They use Toast tabs). The beignet croissants came out so warm, fresh, and just melt in your mouth! They were so good (understatement) - then our mains came out: I had the chicken and waffles and my husband had a couple of their breakfast bagel sandwiches. We sat and ate in silence because it was just SO GOOD. We wish we discovered this gem sooner because we would have been there Every morning or afternoon. Indoor and heated covered outdoor seating. The food and drinks were delicious with plenty of breakfast/brunch options. A large variety of sweet treats. My honey turkey bagel specifically was good for the price, however I wish I was able to taste the jalapeño in the cream more. We were visiting Chattanooga and did a bit of research to decide where to eat breakfast on Saturday morning. Since we are unfamiliar with the area we wanted to play it safe and did make a reservation through Open Table for 10:15am for a party of 4. Parking is somewhat limited within the parking lot, but we did find a parking spot close by. They were busy when we arrived and we checked in at the hostess stand and were immediately seated in the main area. They also have covered seating in front of the building which appears to have both open air capability and heaters in the cooler weather. We were provided menus and our drink orders were taken. The server checked in with us and when we asked for her recommendations she was slightly curt and very generic in her response. We went ahead and placed our orders, three of us ordered breakfast sandwiches and one of us ordered chicken and waffles. We also ordered a side of the tater tots and thick-cut bacon. The interior space is cool and comfortable and feels like a great fit for the neighborhood. Our breakfast arrived in a timely manner and looked yummy. Our friend began to eat her chicken and waffles and said the waffle was not even warm, ugh. We did bring it to our servers attention and she said she would get it replaced quickly. Someone did come within a couple of minutes with a new plate of chicken and waffles which was appreciated. Our breakfast sandwiches were good but not incredible in our opinion. We also noticed our bacon did not get delivered so we let our server know that as well. Her initial response was to clarify that we wanted to order bacon until we repeated that we ordered bacon but never received it, which she acknowledged. Our favorite part of the meal, were the tater tots. They appear to be shredded hashbrowns, hand rolled into a ball and lightly fried, they were really incredible. Our bacon did get delivered but did not live up to the description of "thick-cut bacon" as described on their menu. We had a much higher expectation but this was just an okay experience. Overall this is not a place we would seek out again. Maybe we stopped in on an off day. read more

This is the second time going to Honeyseed. We went right after it opened for brunch and thought we would give it another try - primarily because they allow dogs on their patio. My husband and I split a pizza with pepperoni, sausage, green peppers and onions - and it was good. My favorite thing (not pictured) was the Salt Air Margarita! The servers were wonderful. I've been wanting to eat here for a while. So finally had a chance to get over for dinner during the week. I love the environment and the overall feel. The food was pretty ok, we had pizza. Nothing super over the top special, but good. I guess I prefer a thicker crust but that wasn't an option. However the pizza my lady friend ordered was missing multiple toppings. And what she did get was very skimpy, like it was the last off the cutting board. My toppings seemed more generous and in the amount I'd expect. Another negative? No root beer on the menu, so at least 1 point knocked off for that. In the end we got comp'd for the pizza (I asked). The waitress was really great though so I left her my tip. I had an unexpected doctor's appointment downtown. Hadn't eaten breakfast. Heard about Honeyseed and was thinking,"I'm craving a lox bagel." So, decided to pop in and see if they had one. They had a smoked salmon bagel (granted, I know smoked salmon and lox are different). I've never been there before. Welp, it's $18. And, yes, I did buy it because I just really needed one. I have relatives that are salmon and crab fishermen in Alaska and sometimes I just need some if they can't send it to me. Well, womp womp. I mean, it's a cute place. The actual bagel was *chefs kiss*, but the way they built that bagel was bland as hell. The cucumber deleted all the flavor of everything else on it. Barely any capers, a few onions, good portion of salmon, but one sprig of dill. Granted, I got it to-go. Looked like they just threw it in the bag. I checked it in the parking lot before leaving. It was apparent they didn't care how it ended up since I wasn't staying and eating in the restaurant. It was disappointing. If I'm paying $18 for a bagel, whether or not it's to-go, at least act like you care about the food you're putting out. It was just meh. This is a very New Age-y place that has the option to just walk up to a table and order on one's phone; someone eventually walked by to check how I was doing, but these sorts of places are convenient but also impersonal. Who knows what the norm for restaurant service will be five years from now. They had a small parking lot, which was quite full during my time there on a busy weekend. I got a charcoal lemonade; I've never figured out why one puts charcoal in lemonade, but it seemed a very appropriate choice for a woodsy region of Tennessee where charcoal is actually made and it looks cool. More importantly, my food also looked cool, drawing a compliment from a passerby as I devoured it. Their taco salad (my second day in a row getting taco salad for breakfast, though thankfully this one was better than the last) had a variety of ingredients, with some sort of spiced chickpea "chorizo" as the highlight. It was presumably vegan, but I didn't regret skipping the French toast. The bagels certainly smelled good, but they were out of a lot of flavors and I was out of room. This is a great Sunday brunch spot for a group of new friends, like the group I was with on my visit. I'd not been in to get food in about 6 months. I had ordered the chicken and waffles. Being that part of it is fried and the rest is carbs to the max along with it, I had gone all out and allowed myself this once a year treat!
