I was really hoping that this location being pretty small would knock it out of the park. We took our sons out for dinner here on a Monday evening. Arrived and we were the only table seated. We ordered and waited a decent amount of time for our food to start coming out. Food itself was delish. Sushi was fresh and yummy. Our youngest son ordered two rolls and received one right off the bat. His other however he waited until everyone had finished already and two people were told/asked about his order. I've been here twice now and both my husband and I have been very happy with this restraunt thus far. This time we ordered the "Sweet Dream" roll and the "Habanero Melt". The rolls had a good taste to it and the fish felt and tasted fresh. The fried parts of the sushi were nice and crunchy, and the crunchiness even held up til later when I had my leftovers. The staff was very freindly and helpful. The restraunt itself is very appealing and has a nice atmosphere. We got to try the Spicy Tuna Crispy Rice on the house which was a nice little surprise and it was definitely a tasty treat. Worst sushi in the whole AV (have been trying different sushi places every week) - decided to try this one bc of the 4 stars (does not deserve it) We waited 30 mins for a 3 pc sushi. Ordered the habanero melt - worst tasting flavors, presentation is the only good thing. Beware of the "crab" on the menu, it's actually imitation crab. Tonkotsu ramen was okay - only has seaweed, corn, and bamboo shoot. Also overheard other customers trying to order a rainbow roll, but they said their wait time would be 1 hour. Really happy with the Sushi from here! Large fish slices and seems to be of good quality. Smaller rice portions with the Sushi, so I didn't feel like they were trying to fill me up on rice. My son and Wife are both gluten intolerant. And they double checked the vinegar in the sushi rice to make sure it was gluten free. And they had gluten free soy sauce here too. Reviews are so important. I'm not patronizing anymore restaurants with less than 4.5 starts. This sushi spot has 3 stars. I took one for the team. Less and less restaurant owners care about their customers. Im starting to sense that sushi restaurant owners hate their customers. At the sushi bar are blurred barriers (partition). It's so obvious that they do not care about you. Just eat and pay for the damn food (subpar food) seems to be their attitude. I like the idea of CLEAR dividers to a degree. The pvc pipes are so ugly, this makeshift stuff is ridiculous. California has just gone too far with the pandemic. I want to go out and patronize businesses like we did b4 2020. I try, but am so disappointed more than not. Service is so bad, lack of training. I don't think you can be trained to be kind and make patrons feel welcome. On top of bad service, food is terrible. Heard that a new Sushi place opened so we went to try it out. I think people are expecting the usual sushi place but I enjoyed their menu. The crunch roll was fantastic! Love their sauce on the rolls too. I recommend giving it a try. Does not offer cooked food like teriyaki chicken plate like some sushi places do so keep that in mind. The ramen soup was fantastic too and enough to share. The disappointing part, which took a star away, was the atmosphere is lacking. No ambient sound, music or entertainment. So it felt odd. And nothing to look at which would be fine if there was ambient noise. But combined, I almost felt like an animal in a zoo. I would give it a try regardless. Usually I'm a hot mess coming from the gym and sometimes I just have a simple miso soup and rice lunch, super affordable! The bar seems legit and I love the music. I went to this restaurant for the first time on 10/4. Restaurant looks/was clean. The service was good and the waitress was very attentive. Now, lets talk about the food... there were a lot of sushi options on the menu however, it seem to me like every sushi had the same filling and the only thing that change was the topping. I order two different ones, I had the Habanero roll and the crunch... there were different toppings but the filling was the same. I will be going back and order 2 different ones and see what I get. Gave it a try a few days ago. Was a little weirded out that they don't make the sushi in front of you. I thought the whole point of sushi bars was to see them make the food in front of you. They don't use fresh avocado, they use an avocado puree. Was not a fan of it. My husband got a roll that had what they listed as fish flakes but didn't specify which type of fish it was.
