EDIT: Take note that the response by the business owner pretty much states that they are not willing to work with you to help your pet. They only want your money. They just happen to also provide pet care services. If you're looking for any sort of pet care I highly recommend you avoid this place at all costs. We brought our cat in for breathing issues. The very first thing they came to tell us was that we would need to pay $3000+ before they were able to treat him at all. Not only are they okay charging you for all your worth. They will hang your pet's health over your head to make sure you sign the highly expensive paperwork. Even when you tell them you can't afford the lump sum bill but you can pay them off in increments so that it's not financially ruining to you. Their response will be it's company policy. I wasn't aware that company policy trumped ethics but apparently it does. This place does not care about your pet or you. They want that good money you got in your wallet. Find yourself a vet with a proper moral compass that will work with you and not guilt their way into your wallet. I wanted to leave this review because my experience is quite different from the negative reviews. I don't mean to dismiss anyone's experience or feelings, but I think it is also important to keep in mind that the nature of this business (caring for sick animals) means that not everyone is going to have a wonderful experience. Dealing with sick pets is not fun, and not everyone is going to get the results/answers they're hoping for, unfortunately. All this to say: My experience here has been really great. I have been twice: once for emergency care, and once for a specialty appointment (diagnostic endoscopy w internal medicine department). Because of the nature of the specialty appointment, I'll have to be going in probably at least a few more times, but I feel confident about the care I'll get in the future as well. Everyone I've iinteracted with, from the desk staff to the nurses/techs to the doctors, were all wonderful. They treated me and my cat with kindness, patience, and compassion. When I went in for ER, the doctor I saw was Dr. Wong, and she was very knowledgeable and explained things to me in a way that made sense. Her notes afterwards were very thorough. Even my cat, who is terrified of the vet, tolerated the experience better than I expected--which is honestly a shock, if you know my cat! For specialty, I've been seeing Dr. Redfern with internal medicine, who is has been wonderful. She's sooo patient with me, which I appreciate because I am def the kind of cat-mom who asks a million questions. All of her vet techs I spoke to were also great, especially after the procedure when I called to ask follow-up questions. I see on here that a lot of people complain about pricing, which is totally fair...this place does come with a hefty pricetag. But it is simply the truth that veterinary care is expensive, especially in NYC. I wish this weren't the case (believe me, it is a struggle for me to afford my appointments) but it's important to note that expensive treatment is not exclusive to this facility. It is more expensive than a regular veterinary appointment, because this is not a regular veterinarian--they are for emergency or specialty care, which is more expensive no matter where you go. I do not think, based on anecdotal evidence/research, that the prices here are significantly different from pricing anywhere else in the city (at least not for the procedures/care that I received). Obviously get standard bloodwork/tests elsewhere, but for emergecny and specialty, I don't think you can find it much cheaper elsewhere, unless you can manage to leave the NYC area and go out to the suburbs. Overall my experience here has been amazing, and I am very happy with the care my cat received. I was hesitant to come to BP because of the reviews I saw ahead of time, and now having had my own experience, I wanted to add my voice to the mix to let folks know that not everyone has an awful experience here! read more

If it weren't for the high prices I would give this place 5 stars. Dr. Christine Choe was amazing in calming both me and my cat down after he spent the night vomiting several times per hour. He ended up needing an endoscopy which she talked me through and was careful to ask my consent for every step of the process. She gave me several options for each step and laid out the pros and cons of each which really put my mind at ease. There were a few things I opted out of because of the price and she was very understanding and even offered to give me a few of her recommendations as to where I could go to get these things done for a more reasonable price. They pretend that they care about your pet but it was very clear to me when I showed up with dog, they wanted me to pay first, go ahead and swipe my card before they do anything about my dog and he was dying!!!!! Ok so I went ahead and did whatever I was told so that my dog can get the care that he needed, Now that I look back and think about it, I was so desperate and didn't know what else to do but to do what I was told to do in order to save my dog. If i could give zero stars to this place i would. I called them in a panic about my dogs getting stuck together (mating). My regular vets doctors were not in the office and asked me to call blue pearl. My female kept pulling away causing my male a lot of pain and he was screaming. My male is neutered, and my female is not. The person who answered the phone (pretty sure was not a doctor) said to let her pull away. This was INCORRECT and INJURY, causing advice. The male penis has to decrease in size in order for them to safely get unstuck and its him who initiates the separation. I never tried to separate them but wanted to keep my female as calm as possible to not cause him pain, and i also tried to prevent her from pulling away. this woman even gave me attitude "well if you are not going to listen to our advice, then i don't know what to tell you," i even asked her. "i let her pull away even if he is screaming," she said "yes". So, i let it happen. My male penis was bleeding and now he is sad and doesn't want to eat. When i was calm enough and not in a state of panic i read up on the process and that the male needs to reduce his penis swelling in order to safely unlock otherwise you can cause injury to him or to both of them. So what i was doing was right. Not letting my female pull away and trying to keep her calm and let her stay put. She even told me, "By not letting her pull away you are preventing them from unlocking". Please avoid this place at all costs. They gave me incorrect injury causing medical advice over the phone and says a lot about the fact that they allow staff to do this even with their attitude. They CLEARLY don't know what they are doing. I will never bring my dogs here and based on all the negative reviews it seems they misdiagnose often. We had a very good experience at Blue Pearl in Forest Hills with Dr. Martinez. We arrived with our 16 year old Blue Point Siamese who was in kidney failure. We had communicated with three other vets earlier in the day and knew what our options were most likely going to be. This place is not honest and will price gouge and price inflate a bill to their advantage and not yours. The mistake I made aside from going here was letting them know that my sick pet was an emotional support animal, this disclosed to them that I was disabled and I felt that they priced gouged me even more. Then after my pet was released from BluePearl, I found out the standard of care that was received was negligent and I was heartbroken because he suffered. I realized charges that were not authorized, nor wanted when I was sent the itemized bill-Blue Pearl didn't initially provide it, I had to insist to see it. They stopped a critical medication for my young cat that I was informed that was critical for him and that he must remain on. Blue Pearl gave my cat this critical medication briefly while with them, then stopped his critical medication before his discharge and did not inform me of this critical medication, or my critical need to give it to him. I brought my pet to Blue Pearl to treat a critical urinary unblock and my pet was given the critical medication while with Blue Pearl very briefly, it was stopped I was informed by an expert to encourage another urinary blockage again. Blue Pearl is not the place for professional and veterinarians that truly care for animals. When I brought this information to Blue Pearl's attention when disputing their inflated bill and stating my dissatisfaction of services, unauthorized charges, and the standard of care of my cat, I was told that their medical negligence of my cat regarding his medication will be sent to their medical review team. Despite their negligence, which I reported to the state and informed them, BLUE PEARL STILL LEFT THEIR FULL COST INFLATED BILL OF $5,851.00 FOR ME TO PAY...COMPLETE WITH MEDICAL NEGLIGENCE! Blue Pearl will take advantage of you while you are under duress, financially exploit you and exaggerate their fees anyway even if you tell them you cannot afford what they are charging, do not want their services, or for necessary services ask them to work with you-their services are still extremely expensive in comparison to other vets. I was constantly upsold on surgery for my young cat- which I constantly refused. The vet that followed-up said surgery is a last resort...he is not a good candidate...he is too young for surgery. Blue Pearl didn't want to discharge my young cat. It was stated after the medication negligence that they care about pets, I did not agree with that statement, nor will I be a repeat customer. Other vets that reviewed my charges said many of the charges were inflated, extra services, and unnecessary. I discharged my pet and continued care elsewhere with an honest vet and ethical vet. Additionally, after my pet re-experienced the same condition that was the reason for going to BluePearl, I was informed that BluePearl discontinued critical medication after discharge. It was stated that my pet needed hospitalization and monitoring, I am perplexed as to what was being monitored? Clearly this was inflation of the bill, my family, friends are in awe of the bill exaggeration, prices, and service unauthorized charges, and staying away from this place. My pet was only on this critical medication while in their care. I am disputing their bill and charges. I do not expect Blue Pearl to act professionally from what I have seen and I will stay far away with my pets. BluePearl did not even inform me to get this medication. I did not even call for follow-up tests that I was charged for-and did not want. Due to their negligence and constant upselling I do not believe anything they say. I paid for tests to be performed again for honesty, accuracy, and reliability. The follow-up vet took care of the critical situation with an honest evaluation and visit. No 48hr exaggerated hospitalization charges like BluePearl, no excessive, unwanted X-rays and excessive sonograms, no excessive lab tests, no excessive hospitalization and associated fees for a simple critical visit that can be rectified to result in a bill that results thousands of dollars. My emotional support cat was discharged without a prescription to buy his prescription vet food. He was discharged with a few cans of specialized food to try. I have never had a vet diagnose my pet with an illness and not provide a prescription to buy their specialized food and/or medication. Again-if you care about the health of your pet, go somewhere honest, reliable, and where the vet services are not dangerous and go where they really care about animals! read more

Dr. Balea saved my cat. My cat wasn't acting like himself and I knew something was wrong. Luckily I live close to this vet emergency room. Dr. Balea went through her examination and explained everything thoroughly. She explained what the next steps would be based on her findings. She went through the break down of the costs for me. She did tell me this was an emergency situation and she took care of my baby Salem right away. Thank you so much for your care. This location is clean and reliable. They will call you every day for updates and they allow visitation of your pets. I was allowed to go into the back where they keep their recovering animals which is nice to see. They will go over discharge instructions. I was initially scared to have my cat treated here because of the reviews but I am glad I made the decision to have the procedure here. They provided excellent care and my cat is back to his normal self. read more

STAY FAR AWAY!!!!!!!!!!! Please get a second opinion before coming here and if your vet recommends this place go somewhere else! My dog spent 3 nights here after being hit by a car. We were charged close to $10,000 for 3 nights. Drs.Christine Iacovetta, Mark Levy and Yuki Tse said my dog needed spinal cord surgery and if she didn't do the surgery the same day, she would die. They lied to us and took advantage of us. They saw me crying and used the opportunity to pump up their prices. This is a disgusting place! They strapped my dog to a piece of cardboard for 3 nights. I'll never forget the look of pain and terror on her eyes. On the day of the surgery, we were waiting hours and Dr. Levy came by 10 minutes before the surgery and told us she no longer needed the surgery. Of course I was glad she didn't need the surgery but then I realized they were going to operate on my dog when she didn't even need it. They told us that spinal cord surgery was risky her chances were only 20%. Several times, Dr. Iacovetta recommended we put my dog down if we couldn't "afford" this outrageous bill. These people only care about money. After misdiagnosing my dog, they made her stay an extra night just to "make sure" she was ok. It was obviously so they could make more money before we were discharged. The old woman at the front desk is very rude and unfriendly. The younger girls were sweet and they were the only ones who seemed to care. Finding parking in this area was a nightmare. The owner Paul Miranda does not care. Save your complaints because he's never there. Just because I know he's going to comment, we came here in February 2016 and it's under my mom's name. We are still paying off this bill a year later! I usually bring my dog here for emergency care or a specialist vet visit. The customer service is great and the vets are professional. My dog had her EKG done here with a cardiologist and an x-ray. They were able to diagnose her and give her life-saving meds. It costs the same as the Animal Medical Center in Manhattan. I'm really grateful to the doctors here for providing excellent medical care for my elderly dog. read more

This review comes with a very heavy heart. My dog of 10.5 years was euthanized at this facility in an emergency event. Duke, my 10.5 year older blue nose pitbull, was diagnosed with splenic hemangiosarcoma back in January and his spleen was removed next day. His regular vet filled us in on his poor prognosis. Duke had no more than possibly 8 months to live. We seek out a specialist at AMC in Manhattan. They advised us to treat Duke holistically due to the nature of his diagnosis and the effective of chemotherapy and Duke at this time being in overall perfect health besides the "silent killer" hemangiosarcoma lurking in his body. Duke enjoyed a beautiful 3 more months with me but unfortunately the inevitable emerged 3 months later, we woke up very early Sunday to Duke having a very tough time, we rushed him to blue pearl. The doctor on staff whose name has slipped my mind due to the tragedy at hand basically helped me make a decision I truly didn't have the strength to make without her professionalism and true care for my beloved pet. I did the unimaginable and had to euthanize Duke that very day and hour. This review comes 2 weeks later and I'm still struggling day to day with the loss. We had duke individually cremated and received his remains beautifully with a blessing of a clay paw print, a beautiful wooden urn and a beautiful sympathetic card. The vet on staff was excellent, my fear was making the decision of what to do with duke because if it was up to me I'd do whatever it took to keep him healthy and here but the doctor explained I was doing the most human thing giving his state and the what if's with any other route I took. After i fixed 4 of my cats together, one of them wasn't doing so great after the operation because the pain medication was wearing off, ASPCA asked me to take her to BluePearl, the nurse and the doctor was great. They check her thoroughly and gave her some medication to help her feel better. As I got my cats fixed with ASPCA, they generously covered the charges of BluePearl. My 7lb pup got bit by a mini husky on a Sat. She wasn't herself and wouldn't let me touch her or hold her, she stayed as much as she could in her crate. So Sun morning I brought her in. I didn't make an appt or call, I just walked in. After a brief explanation of why we were there I was brought to an exam room and asked to fill out a few papers. A nurse came to check my pups vitals, asked details, then sent the vet in, Dr. Williams. She assessed my pup more closely and despite her not showing any potential signs of infection she did prescribe her antibiotics (what I was hoping for) to prevent any potential issues. I've seen dogs die of infection so that was my main concern. She was also in pain and got something to help with that as well. The hospital and exam rooms were nice, clean, and the place looked organized. I felt confident with the outcome and visit and am glad I didn't wait longer to come in. There's nothing that could've improved my visit. Should there ever be an emergency, I feel really at ease coming to Blue Pearl for my girl. read more

I took my cat, Pongo, to BluePearl Queens on 4/17/19 for foreign body removal (he had eaten a bunch of my hair ties and needed them removed from his stomach before they moved into the intestines). I had a wonderful experience there and I'm so happy with the care my baby received. The staff is absolutely wonderful - kind, caring, patient. The vet techs/nurses/doctor took their time answering all my questions and made sure I understood every step they would take, as well as the cost of everything. (Note - others here are right about emergency services being pricey, but I thankfully have pet insurance and should get most of my money back. I recommend EVERYONE with pets get insurance so you can afford to go to a great place like this for the care your pet deserves!) Dr. Cistola worked with Pongo and was able to get everything out via oral endoscopy, although she made sure I understood the potential need for surgery if the endoscopy failed. They were able to avoid surgery, thankfully, and Pongo came home totally himself - eating and relaxed and happy. This morning I got a call from the front desk to make sure that Pongo is doing well and that I don't have any questions about his aftercare. It's really clear that everyone at BluePearl cares about my cat and I'm so glad I took him here instead of anywhere else. I came in for an emergency appointment because my dog is peeing blood. I called in advance to see if I can just come in and I was told to come in and I would just wait. I was quoted an hour to a two hour wait time after 2 1/2 hours I asked how much longer until we were seen and that's when I was told it would be another three hours because a different Pet came in that was in a more critical condition and they didn't even have the decency to let me know after two hours of waiting. The place is so short staffed, and no one answers the phone. You have the manager who comes into the room acting like he cares about your pet when the only thing he really cares is whether you want to commit to their long list of itemized unnecessary treatments for your pet. Then, he comes in and makes whatever shit up to exacerbate the situation knowing the owners are desperate to save their pets, just so you can agree to pay the bill they quoted you. They have absolutely no empathy or urgency for your pet either. I had to wait a very long time just to see my cat and see how he was doing. When peeking at the back, all I saw was the staff laughing and fooling around in the back while the owners were outside in their own individual rooms waiting for answers. The doctor that finally came to speak to me about my cat was half asleep and kept saying my cat would pass if I don't leave him to stay here because his blood pressure is very low. I declined their ridiculous quote of approx $4000 to stabilize him for the night. Instead, I went to another vet hospital, they stitched my cats lip up, took xrays and stabilized him for the night- gave him meds and heat pack. The doctors came and stayed next to him until 2am until my cat fell asleep. Saw him this morning and he was doing fine. And I didnt even have to pay a god damn arm and leg. IF YOU TRULY WANT YOUR PET TO LIVE AND HAVE SOMEBODY WHO GIVES A FCK ABT YOUR PET, DO NOT GO HERE!! I work in the medical field and this was the worst patient care I have ever seen in my life. The front desk guy was so flustered because he kept having to walk back to talk to them and he started catching attitude with us but I dont blame him, I actually felt annoyed for him because he was actually genuinely trying to be helpful and trying to do 1000 things at once. The reviews are everything so please go take your pet elsewhere, this place only cares about your money. My family dog also came here two years ago, and had fluid in his lungs and they told us he will be okay with some lasix to remove the fluid and sent him home, the very next day, he got worse and we went back, they said he needed to put him down. We took our pet here for an emergency and want to always be appreciative of anyone helping our pet stay healthy and that being said, the vet was actually very helpful and took good care of our pup. However, when we called, we told the woman at front desk that our dog had kennel cough when trying to give some sort of background about our situation. She cut off my story and said that i need to save my conversation for the vet. We were then given a form to fill out that only informed us of financial obligations rather than asking questions about what was wrong with our pet. When the vet called us to assess the situation, I informed her about kennel cough. At this point I was cut off and told that I should have informed someone when I arrived as kennel cough is highly contagious. When I explained that I did to woman at front desk, she said then "I guess ball was dropped on both ends"....I'm sorry, but the only one who dropped the ball was the woman at the front desk who didn't pay attention to information being given to her. I get that emergency service is not personable, but not only was she rude, but her lack of attention could have affected other dogs. I call at like 10pm and asked if I can bring my puppy in because she had recently got spayed and managed to get her cone off. No matter how much I tried to put it back on, she was on high alert and the drugs from her surgery made her very paranoid. She was very aggressive and wouldn't allow me or my family near her. However, she is very friendly to strangers and would allow them to do anything to her. Afraid she'd lick her incision and get it infected, I called and asked if they can check her incision and put the cone on her, as this was an emergency to me, my pup and my family. I got a rude guy on the phone telling me that they couldn't do anything for me and that I would need to take her to behavioral training. OK SHERLOCK, I didn't ask you about that. I asked if you can do a wellness exam & provide anti-anxiety medication & you're offering some rude advice. I was distraught over the phone because I didn't want my baby to get infected but this guy on the phone had no EMPATHY and couldn't offer any help. He doesn't even know how to pronounce "Sedatives" but had the nerve to try to be smart with me. Very demeaning, has no empathy, and no common sense. I know yall would charge me an arm and a leg so why not just take my money and help my puppy? No, because they want a problem to happen and not help to prevent one bcuz they don't "offer" that kind of service. This is such an amazing the 24 hour emergency vet clinic. The clinic is super clean and professional. I came here because my little Cockapoo was violently ill, with vomiting and diarrhea and some blood in her mucous. I was very distraught when I brought my puppy here, but the staff is super friendly, and the technician and Doctor were so kind and helpful and thorough in the care they provided for my little furbaby. They ended up giving her an IV, antibiotics, and anti nausea shots. She is now much better. This place is a bit pricey with office visits alone costing $156, but it's well worth it. read more

It's good they are open 24 hrs in case of an emergency. Unfortunately the night my dog died the lady who was at the front desk working the over night shift she had dark brown hair. It was the night shift of 1/17/2022 at 1/2 am. This lady was sooooo rude I was hysterical and heart broken my dog had died. She threw a box of tissues at me then apologized because she realized what she did was rude. She seemed to hate her job and hate the night shift. She should not be working there. Idk how someone can be so nasty to another person who is in tears for the loss of their pet...you'd think she would show some empathy or sympathy but instead she just wanted me to pay the 1,500$$ for everything and leave so she wasn't bothered anymore. It seemed as if i came in with my dead dog was a bother to her. She is an absolutely disgusting heartless human. I wish I would have gotten her name because I would have thrown it in this review. Whoever worked the front desk on 1/17/2022 at 1/2 am the over night shift should absolutely be fired. As I was hysterically crying because it was so expensive I said do you take payment plans or something what do people do if they can't afford it? And she answered with then don't come here. That Fucking rude bitch. They need to hire animal and people friendly people. Not someone who hates working the front desk over night. They were not good at all. They misdiagnosed by 14 year old pit bull. They put him on oxygen overnight and diagnosed him as having bronchitis. They ventured to guess that he may have had pulmonary fibrosis and that his prognosis was dim. Even when I called overnight, the vet staff were rude and did not offer much information. They did have him on IV fluids but never drew blood on him either! Because the doctor did not give me great news, I thought he needed to be put down because I did not want him to suffer and the doctor agreed. Luckily, when I went there to see him the next day, he was shaking but something told me to get him out of there so I did. I took him out against medical advice and took him to Animal Medical Center in the city. So much more competent. He did end up staying many more days because of tests such as a CT scan and because everyone is understaff these days. However, he was diagnosed with laryngeal paralysis and had it corrected. I picked him up the following day. Laryngeal paralysis is common among older pit bulls and labradors. I am thankful I listened to my gut feeling and I gave my furbaby a chance. This place is a scam! Anyone that has ever been scammed by this place should file a complaint with NYSED: 800-442-8106 or conduct@nysed.gov. Do NOT go here. Came here with my dog that has seasonal allergies because he had an ear infection. The consultation fee was $255 to stick a thermometer up his ass and make us wait an hour while another dog's carcass was carried away. Then I was told that they can't do anything other than get a sample and charge me $1200+ for it. The vet didn't even look in my dog's ear with any instrument. Every other vet out there has ALWAYS looked in his ear canal. Here, all the vet did was flip his ear over and go it's infected, but pretty much I can't help you. Here's a $1200+ plan that will maybe eventually help your dog at some point. The emergency vet on Queens Blvd charges $85 for the consultation fee and you walk out of there with ear drops. They get you in and you think it's going to be $255 plus the cost of the medicine, but then they spring a $1200+ bill on you for a ear infection and NO treatment. ABSOLUTELY NO TREATMENT AND $1200+ for an ear infection! AVOID AT ALL COST!!! On March 27th, 2020, I brought my dog Charlie, into Blue Pearl in Forest Hills because he could barley walk all day and by 10:00pm, we decided it would be best to bring him to the vet. I had used Blue Pearl in the past, in Jan 2012, they were great. Due to the COVID-19 outbreak, we were not able to go inside the hospital, which is fine, they came out to my truck with a wheeled gurney to bring my dog in, and they told me they would evaluate and call me on me cell. A little while later, I received a phone call from them telling me that they would email me an estimate as to what could be done and to see what I wanted to do in that moment. I waited for the email, and I reviewed it. When you see the estimate, you pretty much are at their beck and call, no? You know us animal lovers will do anything for their fur babies, as they are part of the family. The email came through and the prices ranged from $779.21(low-blood work) to $2392.86 (high, blood work with x-rays and meds). So what are you supposed to do when your dog can't walk? So after the x-rays, we spoke to the doctor, Dr. Riccio, who was extremely nice and very informative, and knowledgeable....... So, it "could be a possible ACL tear in the knee", I would need to follow up with an orthopedic surgeon to see what is going on. They sent me home with Codeine and Rimadyl 100mg, 2x a day. After a few days my dog was doing very well but then I ran out of medicine. I called and spoke to Dr. Riccio and he prescribed more medicine for 2 more weeks. ( That was all he could give me) I needed to follow up with my regular vet or I guess, follow up with their orthopedic surgeon, we were not going to do surgery because my dog has another bad knee and the recuperation would be extremely long due to his size. (147lbs) I called Blue Pearl back to try and get another refill, until I could get my dog to my regular vet, and NOBODY would call me back. NOBODY!!! I called 3 times, the last time I spoke with a woman named Theresa, this was on Friday, April 17th, she was supposed to get back to me after speaking to the doctor, she never did. I emailed them on 4/22, 2x, 4/16, and 4/15. NO RESPONSE. All I needed from them was either: (A) Let me purchase more meds from them or (B) Call in a prescription to my own vet.......Neither one of these happened. NOTHING!!! NO CALL!! This is horrible customer service!! DESPICABLE! I was finally able to get my dog to my regular vet yesterday, and he confirmed that he had a torn ACL, with out MRI's or scans, he said he could feel it. ( I would have had to pay for another visit at Blue Pearl to see their orthopedic doctor for them to tell me this, plus another costly visit. The bottom line is, do not expect Blue Pearl do to anything for you once you have paid them and you have gone on your way. They do not care about you once you have walked out the door and they have taken advantage of you. I totally understand that they are a hospital, and they are extremely busy, and I am definitely not their only customer, but the lack of concern once you are gone is inexcusable. God forbid, I ever need another emergency vet, I will look elsewhere. Save your money and only go here if it is a true emergency. I am just disgusted what they put me through in a time that this country is dealing with a pandemic and they can't even help you out in the least bit. THUMBS DOWN TO YOU BLUE PEARL!!! read more

We were able to schedule a visit to see an Oncologist right away. Upon getting there, we didn't have to wait and the front desk staff was friendly. Clean waiting area, their restroom too (this is very important to me)! Nurse Jenny started the examination and was so sweet with our cat, Sunshine. Dr. Lachowicz gave Sunshine a great examination, very patient and articulate. He answered all of our questions and was gentle with our baby boy. The office sent us an email afterwards with a detailing the events of the visitation and next steps for what we need to do, regarding Sunshine's fibrosarcoma. We highly recommend this clinic. Huge plus is having a parking lot next door, especially in a busy area like Austin Street. Sunshine's mass removal was done on June 29, 2017. The surgery was performed by Dr. Levy. Sunshine stayed overnight and we picked up the next afternoon. It's been 10 days post surgery and Sunshine is vibrant and recovering well! His resilience shines bright and we are so happy and proud of him. We thank Blue Pearl and all the staff so much for taking such great care of our baby boy. Our follow up visit is scheduled for July 13th and we hope the cancer has been completely removed, for good. read more

I highly recommend this place but only for an emergency. Our dog swallowed his toy and needed surgery asap. Our dog's primary vet wasn't able to operate surgery due to complication and we were referred to this place. The receptionists were professional and friendly. We've met two doctors and both of them were very patient and professional. Yes, the bill was very expensive (over $5000) but i understand bc this place operates 24 hours and the surgery was complicated. (The toy was inside his intestine which made it more complicated) They also explained what each bills were for. They called me every 30 minutes during the surgery and updated me. They also called me everyday during his stay. (he was hospitalized for few days) Our dr also took time to explain us what was going on, how he was behaving etc. Our dog healed within a week from surgery! The bill was expensive but the service was more than great! Hopefully we don't need to visit this place again but this is the place you can fully trust!! read more

First, I want to acknowledge that I'm the author of a very positive review on Blue Pearl-Queens' Facebook page and stand by it 100%. However, I recently lost my 12-year-old lab to heart disease and there was a major problem that transpired because of the hospital. My intention with this note is to advise both potential consumers and the company's management, with the hope the latter will correct the issue. By the company's own account, it affects all of their New York City locations. Earlier this month, I admitted my dog to Blue Pearl/Forest Hills. It was quickly apparent he needed an echocardiogram. The cardiologist employed by this company was on vacation or otherwise unavailable. I was told it would be eight days before that person could perform an echo on my dog. I also was told by Blue Pearl that this one cardiologist covers all of their locations. Eight days. This is an institution that -- in my opinion, fairly -- charges a premium for emergency care and asks for payment upfront before you talk to a doctor. They bill themselves as a full-service animal hospital. If you can't perform an echocardiogram for eight days, you're ... not. How on earth a place the size and scale of Blue Pearl allowed their one cardiologist to be unavailable, without arranging for a backup, is a question with no answer. During my dog's final illness, I was completely satisfied with the emergency care provided by the doctors here, particularly Dr. Iacovetta, who was calm, compassionate and clearly in command of a rapidly unfolding and confusing medical event. We complained to her about the unavailability of a cardiologist. She recognized the problem -- it wasn't of her making -- and went to swift measures to solve it. Within 24 hours, we were able to get the echo at Animal Medical Center. But it meant us having to transport an extremely ill animal there, on what would be the last morning of his life. I certainly don't blame Blue Pearl for not resolving my pet's illness; it was far along before he was admitted. But this particular bit of managerial stupidity and incompetence, I will never forget. And anyone considering bringing a pet here owes it to that pet to inquire about this institution's staffing before allowing them to start billing you. My lab had cruciate ligament surgery at this location 2 years ago and it was a wholly positive experience. I could not say enough great things about Dr. Mark Levy, who performed it. For that matter, again, I couldn't say enough positive things about Dr. Iacovetta and her on-site colleagues. The bean counters at Blue Pearl left her with a difficult problem, and she succeeded in making the best of a bad situation by getting us an appointment in Manhattan in a timely fashion. That never should have been necessary, and it was most certainly a cruel thing to subject my dying pet to New York City traffic for hours because Blue Pearl left a vital position unfilled for an astoundingly long period of time. read more

This is the best care my 13 year old dog has received since my primary care vet in Manhattan closed his practice and relocated 7 years ago and without a doubt this is the best care she has ever received at an emergency/specialty hospital. read more
