Guacamole and queso Dip Duo with tortilla chips
    Martha R.

Had a lovely dinner at Los Altos grill. Was recommended to me by a friend, and was not disappointed. The vibes were great, the dim lighting throughout the restaurant created a very intimate vibe. The service was great, felt a little rushed ordering by the server however. The cocktails were fantastic, but the Crush cocktail was a bit strong. The classic margarita was absolutely perfect. We had the jumbo shrimp and the guacamole and queso duo. I loved that the chips were freshly made in house. I was a bit skeptical about the cold queso but it did not disappoint. The flat iron steak and fries were so well seasoned and perfectly cooked. If you're looking for an intimate night out and want to eat good food, I recommend eating at Los Altos grill.

Prime rib awesome - not on the menu but just ask!

Time to write another well-deserved review about Los Altos Grill. I am always amazed at how consistent the product is at LAG. Last night was no exception. On the way to SFO we stopped in Los Altos for one of our traditional pre- travel dinners. The thing about eating there is the difficulty one has in choosing what to eat. There's so many things on the menu. I wanna try and and that's always a good thing. Ironically most of the menu items don't differ much over the years. They've got a great formula and they tweak it a little here and there, but never radically change it. It has so much appeal. I can see why the Hillstone units are very successful. So we started last night with a martini. We got there a little early so our table wasn't quite ready and we're told we could order a drink and hang out for a little while and then we'd be moved to the table. We thought that was a good deal and and ordered by the time we got the drinks delivered. It was time to go to the table. It came real fast. So we were seated and the drinks took a little time to get there and when they did, we discovered they were a little warm, probably from sitting at the bar waiting to be delivered. We told the server what happened and she said she'd take care of it. What happened was they simply put the drinks in a re-shake mode versus making them fresh and to tell the truth when they were delivered, they weren't very good. At that time, we ordered our appetizer a delicious artichoke from the Monterey Peninsula, where we happen to live. This is an incredibly beautiful dish that they are famous for. A note here: each table has a heads server, but two other people that are in the vicinity actually also support the table, so any need you have is instantly attended to instead of having one person be responsible for everything. It really works well and something I don't find at other restaurants. We ordered the chicken with coleslaw. It's rotisserie chicken and is simply the most tender juicy chicken. I think I've ever had. They'll let you substitute any side that you want which I find refreshing given that most restaurants cringe when you asked for a substitution. My wife had the ribs tender, flavorful, and very rich delicious ribs. As we are finishing Conrad, the head server came over to see how we were doing and noticed we really hadn't finished our martinis. At that point, I asked my wife if she just wanted to split a martini with me and she said no everything's fine you know I'm basically done and that was the end of it. We didn't say anything to him about the fact that that original martinis weren't good-- was really too late for that and we weren't bugged by it actually it just happened. Anyway, when it came time for the bill, Conrad tells us that he didn't charge us for the martinis and that he was sorry that there was a a problem with the original ones I was shocked. His intuition told him that we weren't happy. As simple as that and he took care of it.. LAG always cares about delivering an outstanding product whatever it is and in this case, as I'm describing it, you can see they weren't gonna deliver subpar martinis to me, even though we didn't mention it. I applaud their awareness and told him how thankful we were for looking out for us. It's just another example of how the organization is run. Go and have fun and say hi for from me.

Dip Duo is my favorite! They refill chips as needed!

Los Altos Grill continues to be our #1 date night spot, so we wanted to try it out for lunch on our first day of winter break. We got our favorites - dip duo, French dip sandwich, cornbread bites... can't go wrong with any of these! It was definitely less crowded than dinner time which was nice. Service was fantastic as always and food comes out promptly. Can't wait for our next trip to LAG!

Looking for a wood fired place? Some of their menu items are done on a wood grill. You can smell the smoke as you enter the parking lot. They have a large food prep area and a nice kitchen that is all visible to the customers. We like wood fired meats so had to try the place. We were there for Sunday lunch. We were hoping for more brunch items but had a great meal. Staff was friendly and knowledgeable. We recommend giving them a try.

We were on our way home from a road trip and decided to stop here and order takeout. This place was pretty busy for dinner. Upon walking in, it had a very inviting, intimate, kind of vibe. With the fireplace, it reminded me of an old school restaurant like Peppermill or Hungry Hunter, but more modern. The place was busy and packed, but the people who worked there were super nice and helpful. I walked past the bar and placed my order. I walked around and took a few pictures. I loved how, on my way to the restroom, I could see where they made the rotisserie chickens. The next thing I knew, my order was ready. We ordered: 1. Rotisserie chicken - Juicy and flavorful chicken. It was perfectly seasoned that it didn't need sauce. 2. Broccolini- My favorite side of choice. I liked that they had it pre-cut in easy to eat pieces. It was nice and lightly cheesy. I wished it had a little more garlic. Other than that, it was perfection. 3. Cornbread bites - Moist yummy pieces of goodness. I liked the little crunch on the outside. The food and service were amazing. I can't wait to come back and try the beef ribs and desserts.

Famous Cornbread in the Skillet - sadly only 5-6 pieces

In all honesty, I haven't been back to this restaurant in 18 years! Last time I was here was when I was pregnant and I loved vegetarian food! Lol I remember there grilled artichokes as well as the whole skillet of jalapeño cornbread - to my surprise a number of things have changed!! The ambience will still the same, dark and somewhat romantic, but all the tables were set up for less than four people. So sadly, my husband couldn't come since there was already three in our party so he went home after the play. Awkward, but we also have puppies at home. Lol . The two servers we had were rather young. I'm guessing, college age, and the first lady didn't tell us that she wasn't our actual server and just filling in until the gentleman got back from break. We tried to order from her, and I guess she didn't pass along the message. Interesting. About five minutes later, we met our actual server, a young college looking student who was very friendly and outgoing, which is very interesting since none of the younger high school/college age students talk much. Lol he was incredibly friendly and outgoing so I was surprised. I really enjoyed my chicken sandwich and the spicy aïoli sauce along with the coleslaw. I actually got full off of my mom's appetizer which was the smoked salmon! They literally gave you a half of a salmon!! It was very tasty with the cream sauce, and I love the Cristini Breads that were on the side. I'm always a sucker for sour desserts and I had to try the Keylime pie!! That was also delicious and I really liked the graham cracker crust and how there was lime zest baked into the crust! Overall, I wouldn't mind coming back here again, just remember you're going to be paying top dollar and the food is tasty, but I really miss the full sizes of skillet cornbread instead of the little six bite-size pieces we got in one order. They were also out of artichokes by the time our reservation came up so sadly, I couldn't get any grilled artichokes. This is also mentioned That they run out.

Food and service were amazing. Their grilled artichoke and smoked salmon are the must-tries. This is a cozy Neighbourhood restaurant with a large bar area which offers great drinks.

This restaurant has been a long-term stable for us. Over the years, It kind of lost its touch, but I believe it's been polished up when we visited in June. The service and food are both great, for both the flat iron steak and prime filet. It's cooked to perfection, tender with great flavors. However, I am surprised to find out the flat iron steak has more flavors than the filet. I do think the chimichurri sauce is not necessary as it has a great flavor already. Maybe set it aside so it doesn't overtake the steak. We order a side broccollini, and that's where we find a surprise guest: a black robber band! Oh lordy.... The server and manager came running to apologize profusely and offer for us to take something home. They also take this side order off the bill. We thank them for their kind response. The slogan of the restaurant says: Serving you with pride and good food. I feel from their service it does show this is what they strive for. I hope to visit them in the future as it gives the welcoming vibe when you walk in.

This is a peninsula standard. The LA Grill never gets old. The service is spot on time after time with a great friendly crew. Happy hour is always vibrant with folks eager to engage in conversation. The food will keep you coming back the French Dip is a go to and they added a Gulf Coast Fish sando that's a must try. Pro tip - add Tabasco to the sando and always always sit at the bar. Tell them I sent you.

Los Altos Grill is everything you'd expect from a Hillstone group restaurant, which is to say very good. The kale salad never fails to disappoint and actually exceeded the high standard set by the SF Hillstone. The dressing had a stronger peanut flavor--this is the salad to make kale haters try. The attentive and friendly waiters are accommodating in holding the chicken and bringing a small side of extra Parmesan which helps bolster the dish after the removal of the meat (also major thanks for adjusting the cost accordingly). The space is both moody and cheerful, a hybrid of a place to unwind after a long day and a special date night destination.

Ask the Community - Los Altos Grill

How come they don't use that front section anymore? I remember rotisserie chickens and cooks in that front section to the right as you walk in before.

    Do you have outdoor seating?

They have a small patio with a limited menu.

Does anyone know if they are taking any walk ins right now or is it just reservations?

They take walk ins but they are usually booked up with reservations that walk ins are limited

How many people can sit in a booth?

the regular booths seat four but they can add a chair to the outside if you ask. there are a two (I think) booths that seat six or seven people

I read that they don't take reservations with parties under 6 people is this correct?

They have changed and are using Resy again. Generally need to reserve at least a week in advance.

Do they still have no corkage?

They now charge a corkage fee, even for the first bottle... I think $20

Does Los Altos Grill have happy hour? With happy hour menu?

No Happy hour, but every hour there is Happy! seriously, the drinks are huge and made very well. There is a "bar menu" of small bites prices very fairly. Try the DIP DUO or the deviled eggs.

Do they still serve prime rib? I don't see it on their online menu anymore

Yes they do, you have to request it, it's not on the menu. They have bone-in prime rib, 16-18 oz, just tell your waiter.

Wasn't this place called "Banderos" (sp?) before?

Yes, it used to be Bandera. It's still owned by the holding company that operates Bandrea restaurants in Chicago, Sacramento and a few other locations

Is this place open for lunch during the week?

No lunch and unfortunately no longer takes reservations which is annoying. Waits are too long.

We decided to do a walk in since the bar seating is first come first serve. Inside the restaurant is beautifully decorated, and the staff were so incredibly friendly and kind! We only had to wait about 30 mins and the front desk did an amazing job updating us on the status of our wait. While we were waiting, the manager of the restaurant gave us sparkling wine on the house because he felt bad we had to wait, which we thought was such a thoughtful gesture! We chose this place to celebrate our anniversary and although it was a little bit of wait, the service here already made it worth it. As for the food, we ordered the oysters, milk bread, kampachi, sugar snap peas, tuna on koshikari rice, dry aged duck, and the black cod. The food was absolutely delicious! The duck was probably the only item on our order that we would skip out on next time, but everything else we would definitely get again. The oysters were our favorite item that we ordered! It was topped with an aerated ponzu sauce with a celery oil(?) and that was amazing. Definitely recommend the oysters. Ended the night with some dessert recommended by the bartender, the pistachio financier. It was such a nice, warm dessert and a delicious way to end the meal. The Hokkaido milk custard with the pastry was a great combo, and I would highly recommend to end the meal with this dessert. Highlights included the salt and pepper octopus which was perfect with the salt and pepper batter along with the potato and green bean salad that complemented this dish perfectly. The snap peas are were fantastic, just like on previous visits. Tried the swordfish this time and it was fantastic. The swordfish was gigantic, lightly battered and fried, just like a katsu. The pork chop was tasty too, being juicy and flavorful. Most importantly, it wasn't dry like sandpaper! The steak was decent. The waitstaff suggested a medium which may have been a touch too high for my tastes... Ordered one of each of the desserts with the chocolate caramel tart being the highlight with a variety of textures and flavors for the dessert. Service throughout the evening was fantastic with staff checking in with us every so often! Scott, himself, even made an appearance to drop off the desserts! ~$150/head after tax, gratuity, and 6% employer surcharges.

I remember feeling like some of the dishes didn't taste as fresh as I was expecting, especially for the price point. The menu sounded more exciting than the actual food ended up being. Unfortunately, we left regretting that decision. From the start, the experience felt unwelcoming when we were seated with our 3-year-old daughter. There was no single overtly disrespectful moment, but the overall tone and repeated small interactions made us feel like we were being judged for having a child with us. At one point, when our daughter accidentally dropped her fork while playing, the reaction we received came across as frustration, which added to that feeling. We understand not every restaurant is designed for young children, but Broma presents itself as a place for friends and family. Instead, we felt like we had to constantly manage and overcorrect normal toddler behavior, which created stress and took away from what should have been a special occasion. Because of that, we didn't feel comfortable raising concerns during the meal when the server checked in--we were more focused on getting through the experience without drawing additional attention. We were also offered an off-menu item without any mention of price. The menu we were given did not list the smash burger, so when I ordered a double, I had no context for the cost. The final price was a surprise, and we would have made a different decision with that information upfront. The food itself did not match the price point. The "smash burger" was not prepared in the style typically expected, and overall the meal felt underwhelming for the cost. Lastly, the billing was confusing. The paper receipt listed "gratuity," while the digital receipt labeled the same charge as a "service charge," making it unclear whether an additional tip was expected. That lack of clarity does not align with the level of transparency expected at this price point. We don't mind paying for a great experience, especially for meaningful occasions, but this visit did not meet that standard and ultimately left us regretting our choice to celebrate here.

The hand made fettuccini and dry aged NY steak were both cooked perfectly. The healthy portion sizes were appreciated also, we had leftovers. Also get the bread pudding, you will not regret it! Fun dinner at Sekoya, we will be back.

When we arrived they were going to seat us on the patio and said inside was full. They were able to accommodate us and seat us on the back patio which was nice. The food was good but pricy and overall a bit too salty for us as we kept having to drink a lot of water. The service was excellent as the waiters frequently checked on us and refilled our water, wiped the table and cleared the plates. They were not very familiar with children so I don't think it's recommended for going with kids, as they took away my 2 year old's plate and cutlery and I needed to ask for it back so she could eat on something. They don't have baby plates/utensils available. They did have high chairs available. They box up food for you if you take home leftovers. Bathroom was nice. They should check that the fire extinguisher isn't blocked by any plants.
